#Temporary EXP Lock Item/Potion for 10HP/Skillers/Pures

Out of complete curiosity, what makes you say that?
Game balance/you chose to restrict yourself
You should not be able to complete quests or do content without getting quest rewards or rewarded xp.
That said, UI elements to prevent you from doing things that would give you mistaken XP—rather than letting you skip getting it and dodge account restrictions—should definitely be around in some form. As funny as watching a pure or skiller cry because they forgot to change a weapon style might be, it's definitely something that harms no one else and doesn't act as anything but a safeguard.
To both points, without trying to sound argumentative, what do you believe would be the negative effect? I don't personally understand so would def like to understand what it really specifically does.
@lethal summit You're going to get the same exact arguments here as you would with the quest giving lamps. These people have one argument they lean on and they don't change it. To them its a no debates position.
The negative effect to them is you chose to restrict yourself and they don't believe game designs at all should be made around catering to restricted accounts/iron men.
I guess the idea is that it can provide benefit to whoever isn't choosing to do/make an account like that by it being a part of a drop table or a creatable/tradable item.
Why do you think you need nature spirit?
Why not make an account that naturally has access to the whole game
I wish you luck - but its almost a fruitless endeavor arguing.
I have a maxed main, and do not feel the pull towards ironman. I'd like a challenge but still be able to do content. If I have to do 5k soul wars games for my attack xp that's fine, but it would be cool to go for quests. Imagine trying to do incredibly challenging quests with hard bosses with 10HP.
That would be why. I don't really care to make content EASIER. just to give access to existing content.
I think if these people have read Mod Manked's Game Jam V bog post about quest lamps, and are still against it. They will never be convinced.
The thing is, the quests require you to have stats for a reason. Even if we just go off lore and not game balance, an adventurer with 10hp or whatever simply doesn't have the constitution to handle using the Locator Orb for instance, among other things
If we remove account requirements for combat skills, why even have requirements for quests at all? My 1 rc locked account should be able to get a quest cape
Like imagine doing Vorkath with 10HP. To give you a specific idea, nature spirit is a pre-req to fairytale
I'm not following on that response. It wouldn't remove the REQUIREMENT for a quest. Simply the forced EXP from the quest/activity
Like I said, cheesing content is up to you, but lore wise your character simply wouldnt be able to handle it
Yeah so this all stems from you saying "Im a snowflake I need fairy rings"
🤣 Get out of here with suddenly applying real world logic to a game. I can carry over 2B coins on my person, yeah. Makes sense.
LOL. No need for slingin insults. Not saying I need them, but it's an example of "why not"
They hate fun Ruax.
I mean altscape wise a 10HP gets best exp out of dolo soul wars for instance.
Id buy into your company 100%
I can't do this again. Good luck with the thread. Fight the good fight.
Appreciate it homie
we get these kinds of threads at least twice a month, and most people do not want ways to go around account restrictions like this added in the game
and that's really what matters, this would never get past the polls
I just agree with what JX said at the beginning. Being able to do things you cant do shouldnt be allowed, however being able to stop yourself from accidentally messing up your account is fine.
I'm sure plenty of people do talk about it, and I'm sure it ends up getting to a lame part of the conversation. I think in terms of Nature spirit specifically, it seems odd that a skiller/10HP would be unable to get Magic Secateurs for instance. I want to understand what specifically ruins by accessing content, not BIS training methods or w/e. It just makes more challenges available to players builds.
the consensus is that that is a part of the restriction of the account, in the same way that a 1 defense pure can't wear certain armor
So in that example there is a difference between intended and unintended effects:
Intended:
1 def pure - low combat level, more challenging for content.
Unintended:
Can't complete holy grail.
No one makes a 1 def pure to specifically not want to complete holy grail.
You do know they can complete MM and MM2 even
Or maybe not complete MM2, but they have access to the MM2 caves
Thats been a thing for at least a year
There changed it up
"No one makes an account specifically to not have access to piety", yeah plenty of accounts do that
Most people dont get high prayer level as well to pk in lower brackets
Prayer level is a chosen restriction along with the 1 def to keep combat low
even if they COULD use piety they wouldn't want the prayer level for that
why would a pure need to complete holy grail? are you just using this as an example?
I'm just using an example of a quest with def exp.
it could be any account any quest that they just "can't do"
Thats a restriction that comes with the account though, theres no reason to just remove requirements on quests
With your earlier DS2 example, the reason you cant do it is not only quest exp, but also def req on previous quests. You cant just remove requirements and say "let all accounts access all content"
this is silly, you want the quest done you get the xp
Alright here's a better example:
Intended effect:
1 Def - Low combat level to be optimized against other PK builds
Unintended:
Can't fight a dragon named elvarg, then subsequently fight another dragon named Vorkath.
The pure doing DS1 doesn't gain any extra armor for doing the quest, however they do get access by finishing DS2 to do vorkath for instance.
they are account type/builds after all
pure accounts are for pvp, if you allowed players to remove level requirements and xp rewards then it would completely change the meta
So you think someone should be able to skip HARD quest requirements just because?
Let me skip doing FM and still do DT2, that makes sense right?
If the 2nd quest requires a magic level that's a requirement to do the quest, not getting exp at the end
i think op is a silly billy, just think hard about what you say before actually saying it
What are you talking about?>
Why should I need to level all these skills for [[desert treasure 2]], if you are saying I should be able to skip doing def for [[lunar diplomacy]]?
I'm trying to respond to too many things at once I think.
If your account is 1 attack and chooses that as a restriction you wouldn't do quests with an attack REQUIREMENT. However, a low level quest that happens to give att exp doesn't give you access to do quests that REQUIRE attack levels
this conversation serves no purpouse as always, the high level players don't agree with your argument, it's the same one every time
perfect example in LD. If the requirement says 40 def then you can't do it at 1 def. You know that as a restriction and it's content you chose not to do. Any prerequisites that happen to give it, but are completable within your restrictions seem odd to not be available
if you want to stay at x stats, avoid doing quests that give exp to x stats its not that complicated really

Dani, the anime emotes and silly insults really don’t add to the convo. I appreciate you responding for bumps though lol
no more debating can take place, it's just circular arguments from here on
But at this point you are randomly assigning different skill pures
your entire post doesnt add anything to the suggestion channel either i dont get ur point here
Because for holy grail you need 20 attack, but no def, and then lunar diplomacy you need 40 def but no att etc
Whether implicit or explicit, quests rewarding xp makes the effective requirement to engage with content be set to that xp. Just because something is unlocked as a result of a quest that also rewards xp doesn't mean the level isn't a requirement.
In the examples you gave, you said that things were "unintended" consequences of quests rewarding xp. Whether they are intented or not in this argument is entirely your own subjective opinion, but the fact remains that by rewarding xp, these quests do impose an implicit requirement on the activity/reward.
You don't know what the intentions of the JMods were and neither do I.
But at the minimum, content unlocked by completing quests with accompanying experience rewards directly implies and imposes a requirement to do the content. Therefore, requesting to nullify xp from actions you intentionally did that reward xp you don't want is no different from bypassing a combat stat requirement for equipping gear
Eliminating unwanted xp is fine, eliminating requirements is not.
Most well thought out response here. Thank you for that. Would be an interesting question to ask if the rewards from prerequisite quests were intended as prerequisite level requirements to the next quest.
I’d maybe disagree with it being the same as bypassing combat stat requirements of gear as that’s a hard written open requirement rather than one that is imposed by effects of another influence (prerequisite quests). Bandos armor does not lock you out of content, but DS2/DS does. But that is up to interpretation by each person without clarity outside of our current knowledge.
Again thanks for the well thought out response!
