Barbarian mixes are a forgotten mechanic from a time before we had Varlemore. Like most other food, when consumed it delays your next attack by 3 ticks. Compare this to meat smoothies, which have no delay, and it's very clear there's a disconnect between the two

12hp and a 2-dose potion is actually a pretty balanced item. It's limited because one is gated by the other, but it's an efficient use of inventory

I'd rather see them having 4 doses but heal less. So it ends up being a upgraded potion. bc in the end you add more to it. I don't see the use in the current implementation. 2 inv slots with 2 mixes would be 4 doses and 24 health. you can just take 1 good food + a 4 dose and have basically the same without having to go the extra step. Or at least up them to be 3 dosed.
Right now the extra effort for +2-4 health is rly not worth the time.

Previously, when 22hp was the highest healing food, 24 healing with the caviat of being attached to a potion was actually novel. However, it was practically useless because it came with the same eating delay as all other food

Guthix rest heals 20, and has no eating delay, butterfly "smoothies" also have no eating delay
