  1. Getting buckets of sand from Sand Pits is good
  2. Getting buckets of sand from Bert is good
  3. Getting Sandstone (Mining) to use in the Sandstorm to get buckets of sand is good

I'd argue that an AFK Sandstone pillar that gives no exp is actually the worst thing, since not only does it disregard 1. and 2. as non-exp methods, but it also bypasses 3. in the way that "you're still doing the mining actions, but you're not getting the exp".

That just sounds bizarre to me. The Sandstorm is good because it ties Sandstone obtained by Mining and getting that Mining exp, to Buckets of sand which are subsequently used in glasswork for Crafting. Bypassing the first part by AFK-able no-exp Sandstone just sounds like it would result in "buying buckets of sand".

Right. If you're going to do the work... why not get the xp for it?

Now if you make it very afk-able, the xp gains should be much lower but they shouldn't be nonexistent. And there should still be a tiny bit of effort required. Otherwise you're just a sand bot.

i think if anything the sandstone grinder itself was quite a big change for crafting on irons
