#'Return of Zaros' sequel to 'Curse of the Empty Lord' miniquest - Reward: Upgraded Ghostly Robes

yeah I didn't mean to imply same as Ahrim's, but a magic attack bonus comparable to it with 1 defence or low defense
Lore-wise, I fundamentally disagree with this proposal involving direct interaction with the gods, time travel, and arbitrary world travel, among other things.
Aside from that, we do not need an upgrade to ghostly, especially not one comparable in stats to any actually-used gear in any combat bracket, especially not as a quest reward.
YOU don't need an upgrade on ghostly because you don't use it. Also, you gave no justification on why you wouldn't want to visit the gods back in time. It's fantasy, so what's the problem.
I’ve got to say no, since ghostly robes are exactly as good as they should be for 1 def
If there’s any 1 def gear that could be good for upgrading / adding, it’d be strength bonus pieces to hat / top
But the truth is it’s a restricted account so adding / upgrading gear should not be a priority at all
I’d rather see nature’s spirit def exp become lamped than any gear additions to 1 def
I literally did. It doesn’t fit the game and doesn’t fit the lore. Arbitrarily introducing time travel introduces a whole array of problems that shouldn’t ever exist lore-wise, and the OldSchool team has also explicitly stated that the gods will never descend/directly be involved with the player in OSRS. Which is a very good thing.
I personally disagree (an opinion statement) with taking the lore that direction for many reasons, partially stated above, and also, the lore and direction of the game’s story directly disagree (fact statement).
On top of that, as maul stated, we don’t need to see a buff to 1def gear, especially from just completing a quest, even if it had a gp cost (unless you make it so prohibitively expensive that Elder Chaos would be cheaper, in which case then you have made that obsolete).
If you use the argument, “it’s fantasy, so what’s the problem,” then there are very many things that I could very easily argue work for/are in other games/books/movies/lore/etc. that simply would not and should not be made to work for OSRS.
It’s fantasy, why don’t we have the One Ring and Sauron?
the only time id agree to adding a 1def variant of ahrims is if the set literally gave you like -100 defence stats
and if it costed like 2mil/hr to use
(remember that ahrims requires 70 defence)
Idk I think it having same stats as chaos elder offensively but with no magic defence would be a big drawback to counter it being free or low reclaim cost.
Magic def is an underrated stat
I just think adding gear specifically for 1 def is unnecessary
Sure it's not worth the dev time cuz it's a player imposed restriction I see your angle. Problem with that is it already exists and we pander to restricted (ironmen) half the time these days.
Occasional 1 def items are fine.
Bellator ring is from a quest, guess it should just be useless then.
Occasional 1 def items are fine; my main is a 1 def. The issue is that a solid mage armour already exists at level 1 in elder chaos robes
That is your ghostly robes alternative. I don’t think there should be a cheaper, equally as good (or better) alternative because it’s already cheap for lvl 1 BiS being sub 500k and gives appropriate stats for the level
There's a difference between something being accessible after a quest and coming from a quest
Your analogy was directly to Ghostly robes, which are directly received from a quest
(Miniquest)
And you also directly said "the rewards would be" upgraded ghostly robes
Let's also not glance past the glaring holes in the lore by your proposal
Like the entirety of GWD would cease to exist if you followed your plot line with the Staff of Armadyl
And like half the game lore
A quest item doesn't have to suck by your inane standards. Ghostly att bonus is trash. So you don't want to improve it on absolutely no logical basis, you blindly say, 'Uhh it's just a quest item so it has to suck!' Rethink your stuff bro
