#Hunter QOL Updates

With the new hunter contracts from the hunter guild there are some annoyances that I have run across while hunting. I think it'd be cool if we could get a right click on Matthias in the Piscatoris falconry area to pay and get a falcon instead of having to go through dialog. It'd also be nice if we could get another lvl to deadfall traps only being able to place one is a bit annoying. Please share your thoughts on this and any other suggestions. 😄

#

Another qol would be if we could combine rope and net into net traps for salamander trapping

silver delta
#

I think it'd be nice if there was an added utility to Ring of Tracking that lets you see what your current rumor is, because my short term memory makes me doubt myself 😄

rare oracle
#

The quetzal whistle actually does that

#

So after ten rumors climb the rope in the guild and talk to the bird dude up their you'll get the basic whistle blueprint then

silver delta
#

oh damn good to know

earnest iron
#

it takes 10 rumors to be able to see what your rumor is? it should be like slayer gem

silver bough
#

to latch onto this, I wonder if it's intentional or not that you can't store several of the hunter tools in the huntsmans kit. If a net trap item were introduced, that'd also fit nicely in there

median juniper
#

Reusable logs for Deadfall traps. I spend more time cutting trees down than I do trapping animals.

#

And let us have multiple deadfall traps up simultaneously.

radiant gyro
#

Having the Hunter Cape teleport you to the Hunter Guild would also be great.

dense glen
#

I was about to post a thread like this

#

But let deadfall traps abide by the multiple trap rule like everything else

#

In addition, maybe "instance" net and deadfall traps so multiple people can use the same rock/tree

radiant gyro
#

Yeah, now it's an issue if you have rumors where tons of people now have a reason to use rocks/trees

dense glen
#

For deadfall and pitfalls, I think it might be neat if we had something we could build nearby to store normal logs in. Or maybe a large infinite pile of wood that you can grab an item I will call a "timber splint" with an axe and knife on you. Those can be used in lieu of logs.

median juniper
#

Or let us use 10x arrow shafts instead of a log to deadfall and pitfall with.

#

Something stackable

radiant gyro
#

Yeah, having to go out for more logs when you lose your spot or something can be a thing.

dense glen
#

Seems the Moonlight antelope area has trees that provide infinite logs.

#

Maybe add similar to these areas as well.

limber wasp
#

use kandarin headgear to get double normal logs @dense glen @radiant gyro @median juniper

wise stone
#

Please could we have some sort of "Hunters Log Book" so we can keep track of what we're hunting. I logged off and completely forgot what rumour I had so I have to go back to the guild to be told again.

limber wasp
median juniper
#

Wow I never knew that perk of the headgear, thanks!

While we are at it, can we make it so completing any Rumor will reset everyone else? So you're not stuck having to do a whole shuffle with the Novice tier guy to reset it.

earnest isle
#

Also, net traps can't be reset like you can with box traps. Definitely a necessary QOL.

earnest isle
dense glen
#

Saves a few inventory slots

earnest isle
#

Absolutely

limber wasp
#

I think more importantly, being able to set the net traps from any side of the plant would be huge. Having to walk around it every time just wastes so much time, and is tedious to wait for

celest hollow
#

I had a couple of suggestions

#

General:

  • Make Kandarin Headband's double-log benefit passive.
  • Add more Hunter locations.
  • Make Kandarin Headband's benefit a toggleable passive.
  • Slightly improve effectiveness of smoking traps.
  • Greatly improve effectiveness of baiting traps.
  • Add a freely claimable Crummy Whistle to the Hunter Guild, obtainable without needing rumors. It has 1 charge.

Birds:

  • Greatly increase feathers obtained. (The idea is that bird hunting might be an alternative to shopscaping feather packs)

Deadfall:

  • Allow more traps.

Falconry:

  • Add a right-click "Falcon" option to Matthias to instantly get/remove a Falcon.
  • Make access free after completion of the Easy Western Diary.

Bait & smoke being more effective might also make deadfall more tolerable

dense glen
#

Oh another thing too. With the addition of the meat and fur pouches, I am disappointed neither had an "open" option to automatically loot and store your spoils in them.

vestal flax
#

Give hunter outfit 50% chance to catch double chins.

wicked umbra
#

could we maybe get the option to do either red or black salamander/chins in hunter contracts with a little bonus xp when completing contract if it was one of the wildy options? might rejuvinate wildy with the option to stay safe

acoustic flax
gloomy lance
#

Graphical gripe that'll probably be fixed next week anyway but Sunlight moth mixes should be orange, right now the two mixes are identical

median juniper
#

Greatly increase the drop rate on rumour piece for Tracking component. Tracking takes so much longer than all other hunter methods, going dry on those rumours takes 10x longer than any other one

limber wasp
median juniper
#

ah didn't see that, that will help if htey fixed it

median juniper
#

Add Open options to Large Fur/Meat pouches to automatically fill them prior to filling your inventory.
Change Empty option on Large Fur/Meat pouches when in the bank window to automatically empty the contents to your bank

dense glen
ember dagger
#

No idea if it's mentioned, but the hunter kit should actually hold most of the hunter gear

oak lake
#

For any of y'all wondering, quite a few things from here are in there

dense glen
#

I noticed too that they said more deadfall traps might need consideration for XP rates if people can run multiple traps

#

But honestly, I can't imagine it being that much higher than box trapping or salamanders.

#

The one exception might be maniacals, but they can keep the restrictions there if need be.

Net traps should absolutely be a single item. Having to pick up two items after a timer goes down because I'm simply unlucky with my lizards is such a bummer.

#

Another QOL - Getting multiple Huntsman's Kits should let us trade them back in.

earnest isle
#

Adding a few dashing kebbit spawns would be nice QOL too.

dense glen
#

The kebbits respawn super quickly anyway, but fleshing out that pen with a couple more kebbits wouldn't hurt.

celest hollow
#

Can the Guild hunter outfit provide protection against Desert Heat. Same as the Prospector kit.

radiant gyro
#

Guild Hunter against heat would be huge.

dense glen
#

Oh I just had another idea. Around every pitfall hunter spot, also provide some healing butterflies that flutter around the general area. As a way, for lower level players to heal back up the chip damage that is involved in teasing the creatures.

The Hunter's Guild basement could include a few Sunlight moths. And the sunlight antelope area as well.

The Relleka area could do with a couple more Snowy knights (And also what even gave me this idea to begin with).

The Feldip/Karamja area could introduce a new butterfly that is just identical to the Snowy knight, just re-themed to be appropriate for a jungle area

oak lake
#

All butterflies giving run energy back would be great for tracking as well

earnest isle
#

We need to be able to combine small fishing nets and rope to make net traps. Cmon Jagex!

earnest isle
#

Also, is it just me or do butterfly / moth rumours have a pretty bad drop rate for the rare item? Moonlight moths always take like 100 catches, which seems like a lot.

gloomy lance
#

RNG has been pretty chunky about it, one of mine was wing in 4 catches

earnest isle
#

We need barbarian butterfly jar smashing btw! Barbarian Hunter let's go!

median juniper
#

Butterfly jar smashing yes. The moth tasks are fast even though they are low chance. I think they’ve balanced the rate at getting rare components pretty well. Pitfalls I typically get around 5-20. Herbiboar around 1-5. Moths probably around 50-100. Chins around 20-50, about same for salamanders. Falconry only about 5-10.

#

I do feel like they are pretty well balanced for duration of task. You can go dry of course on all of them. Though moths are so much easier to do with runelite tagging them. On mobile they’re a nightmare

dense glen
#

Yeah, butterflies suck so bad on mobile.

#

The tiny click boxes and the fact you can barely see them.

gloomy lance
#

Their click box extends to the ground which helps a little but I still need to press 3-4 times to attempt a catch

limber wasp
#

Moth tasks are fine but I feel like the butterfly spawns aren't nearly as dense so they take like twice as long

#

For butterflies I end up just camping 1 spawn instead of running around catching them, which feels very contrary to what I imagine jagex wants me to be doing lol

median juniper
#

Which butterflies? Maybe it’s just cause I’m only doing Masters now but Sunkight and Moonlight moths are both pretty plentiful. I guess moonlight isn’t too crazy

limber wasp
#

those aren't butterflies

radiant gyro
#

I believe having the Teasing stick should still be usable even if it's in the Hunters' Kit. Would save a slot. Having the Rope+Small fishing Net combined into a singular item would have be great still. Surprised that wasn't brought up into patches. There are still some Sunlight Antelopes away from the pitfalls where you have to manuever from multiple trees to get them, as well as one from the North were there's a Plant + Tree blocking the path.

#

A Hunters' Axe also would be a nice unlockable or at least letting us use a Bronze Axe stored inside for us to save an inventory slot for chopping logs, as you know, an actual Hunters' Kit.

#

Knives should also be allowed to be combined or added to the Kit so we can also be using it for traps without having to carry it in inventory.

#

I'm also at a lose to why there's chances for multiple Guild Hunter outfit pieces when we can't do anything with spares.

limber wasp
#

also I think most importantly, we need a use for furs/skins/pelts. I think even if they just let us craft our own items to get xp, instead of using an NPC, then at least they'd have value through that.

radiant gyro
#

Not much of a counterpoint - but I do get the Hunter spear for throwing to tease at a distance.

#

Still would be nice to save the inventory slot if it's able to be used inside the Kit.

#

Also would make sense to not needing a Teasing Stick if you're already like 99 Hunter or high enough level.

#

Like catching moths/butterflies barehanded.

oak lake

limber wasp

i didnt hear anything about that but hopefully so

dense glen
#

I thought the hunter spears were supposed to tease from a distance. Was surprised to find they didn't.

one suggestion I saw a while ago that also made a lot of sense to me is making stackable bait. simply use knife -> (bait item, for example raw meat) to turn it into "sabre-tooth kebbit bait" which would be a stackable new item.
another way to go around this is to have some universal stackable "hunter bait" item. could be reward from rumours as an example.

and another suggestion for smoking traps. currently, you may place down a box trap and after some time it seems like it's in a "failed" state where all chinchompas decide to ignore it. the sugggestion is that smoking such trap would "reroll" the state to where it might become attractive to the hunted creature again.

and of course both baiting and smoking need severe buffs. 2% higher success chance is just not worth the extra 2 clicks (3 without plugin), make it 10-20% at least.

jolly pike
# latent cargo one suggestion I saw a while ago that also made a lot of sense to me is making s...

Smoking is a bait because it adds a flat success rate, baiting is actually decent because it increases the polling rate of the hunter checks. ie how often the creatures check valid nearby traps. Jerboa tails are stackable, and we absolutely do need more like that, but with the "blocking" system it's not as necessary. Plus with the new update, deadfall traps don't get stuck with the creature trapped behind anymore. And at least at pyre foxes, there's way more to encourage more action

median juniper
#

Make immature Tecu Salamanders stackable. Also if they had some purpose that might be cool. Even if it’s just something like using a knife on them converts them into bone shards or quetzal feed rarely

upper imp

One thing I'll say is that whilst Hunter Rumours are good, especially with the blocking system, we should be looking at making the underlying activities themselves good to train. Because it's those things which are the main Hunter thing - the Rumours are just a nice task-based extra on top.

So for example, if there is an issue with Sabre-tooth kebbits in that their main item isn't stackable in some way, we shouldn't disregard it simply because you can block the Hunter Rumour. Because someone not doing a Rumour but doing the activity will still find it tedious.

We should solve the problem, rather than avoid it.

dense glen
#

Make the teeth dust stackable and have an alternative use. Like being able to use it as an alternative to a teasing stick by throwing it into the eyes of the Hunter creature

dense glen
#

You know, they should also rearrange the eastern red salamander slot so the 4 trap spots arent in a long line, and instead a small cluster like all the others

ivory wolf
#

Add a warning when trying to release fully grown tecu salamander 🥺

dense glen
#

dense glen
#

Oh, can there also be some kind of redeem or cash in for duplicate hunter outfit pieces?

stuck slate
#

ropes and nets could be used together to make a single item "net trap" and maybe fletching logs into stackable pitfall/deadfall sticks (or being able to x arrowshafts instead)

oak lake
#

right click falconry is here

oak lake
#

and the drop rates are out

#

looking at these, falconry and tracking seem off

#

falconry is quite easy / quick, I'd expect the drop rate to be higher

#

tracking is quite slow (maybe the slowest / most intensive?) so I'd expect it to be lower

upper imp
#

Maybe some of the drop rates need tweaking to take into account the training method.

median juniper
#

Nothing about preventing duplicate armor pieces? Currently I’m at 3/4 after 160ish but wondering if I’m going to hit a dupe before 4th piece

dense glen
#

I think there is a dupe protection for the Hunter outfit. Never gotten a dupe on my way to the full set.
