#Slayer For Pures

Will there be a possibility of creating a slayer helm for 1 defence pure accounts? It's would be amazing to be able to get the (i) slayer helm to increase damage on tasks for pures. Maybe a specific halo or Iron Helm that can be imbued so that 1 defence pures can also enjoy the benefits of pvm.

While they are at it I think they should remove the defence req on masori and torva. Would make qol on pures so much easier

1 defence is a self imposed challenge, there's going to be content that isn't accessible under the restriction.

that's a lazy argument aginst it you should feel bad. let people play the way they want. if they want to glass cannon in PVM they should still have some of the benefits that everyone else enjoys. and yes there should be the pure equiv of torva and masori range+ and str+ and prayer should not have a def req

Add the GE to ironman so they don't have to live with their restriction

Honest answer though is that pures are not "glass cannon" in PvM. In fact, they're only that in PvP against lower-combat builds. If you put a pure against any bosses, slayer monsters, max combat players, etc., they will always do less damage, and frequently even less damage than raw dps would indicate because their lower defense means they spend more time healing, which is more attack delay and/or more ticks brewed down.

In the same way that the game should not cater to any form of ironman, to an account locked in Morytania, etc., the game should not cater to any stat-/skill-restricted accounts - whether that is a skiller or a pure. A level 3 skiller can't equip their pickaxe, and has to give up an inventory slot while mining. A pure cannot wield most equipment, and therefore cannot wear most offensive-boosting gear, including but not limited to mage gear above elder chaos, defenders, d'hide bodies, barrows/ferocious gloves, etc. Wearing any of these stat-boosting equipment, would in many cases be as substantial as, if not more significant than, slayer helmets.

While the first two comments in this post were written succinctly and sarcastically, they do highlight the issues at hand:

1.) Any account playing with a restriction is, by definition, restricted in what they can use, and thereby how efficiently they can do many things in the game. In the case we are discussing here, the account still has full access to the content, but at a reduced speed and efficiency due to gear restrictions. This loss of speed/efficiency is not unique to the effects of the slayer helmet, but most of the game's offensive-boosting equipment, and therefore does not warrant special treatment for this item.

2.) The primary purpose of a pure, as with any PvP-focused account build such as zerkers, is not PvM. If someone wants to level slayer/etc. on a PvP build, they should do that expecting lower rates to begin with. Make a main/unrestricted account if you want to experience that content

#

Regardless, the main point is that addressing this question by adding a slayer helmet for restricted PvP builds is not only unnecessary, but also an action which more or less defeats the purpose of restricting an account in the first place. An account designed to specialize in attacking weaker opponents should not arbitrarily be given the ability to excel against all enemies. If there were truly a way to make a PvM/all-around "glass cannon" build in this game, that might be different, but in this case the "glass cannon" is only relative to weaker opponents.

To separately address the comment that there should be offensive equipment/prayers/boosts comparable to a max account for pures, this is also a bad way of thinking. PvP builds, relative to their intended low-leveled targets, already do incredible amounts of damage and are designed to compensate for a lack of defense/prayer/etc. by having overwhelming kill potential. While best-in-slot-matching gear for restricted accounts could "level the field" in PvM:

1.) Such gear would still not level the field because their lower attack/defense/prayer stats would still restrict their DPS substantially, especially with regards to melee accuracy.

2.) When used in PvP, would substantially widen the gap and increase the relative kill potential of these restricted accounts against their intended targets. This is not necessary as these accounts are already designed and currently able to do enough damage to effectively kill their intended targets, and would make surviving against these accounts unnecessarily more difficult. A low-defense version of Masori already exists, and is balanced around the fact that the additional defense levels prevent it from adding too much additional offense to the pure/lowest combat level brackets.

3.) Again, the primary purpose for having a PvP build is PvP. These accounts are not intended to be good in PvM, and content should not be designed around catering to these accounts in non-PvP activities. Any intentional engagement with activities restricted by the account's restriction should suffer from those restrictions, whether this is on a skiller, ironman, or a PvP build. If you want to train slayer for a "trophy" or self-gratification on a PvP build, do so knowing that a.) nothing is stopping you from simply doing the same thing on an unrestricted account and b.) by being restricted, you will face a restriction.

dont restrict yourself for no benefit , then later say you want the benefits applied somehow

The entire Slayer Helmet is perhaps a bit much, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Black Mask (i) lose its current requirement of 10 Defence.

It's not a weapon, so it not being accessible is to be expected, as them being 1 defense intentionally is on them.

These accounts restrict themselves for the benefits of pvp (lower combat bracket), but then also want similar dps levels driven from non-weapon upgrades. I could say make Torva 45 defense and then leave its stats identically the same, but that would be pretty busted.

There's a reason why Ballista is locked to 33 defense. Always balancing or designing around pures is problematic.

If they added pure versions for everything, the only difference between a pure and main would be defense, which hardly matters. It should be sporadic, not every single upgrade because a pure version would also devalue the new upgrade as well, unless it's the same item to upgrade (ie. Masori).

Pure updates should be focused on QoL and I don’t think black mask qualifies for QoL since it changes their meta, particularly in PvM. Something like allowing pures to do the fairy quest line is fine for fairy rings but altering a significant part of their combat is strange

#

Then again I voted for chivalry on pures because it’s a useless prayer and at least some account builds can see use of it soon

My point was actually explicitly that they are entirely allowed to play the game the way they want to. In this case, playing the game how they want to—with a restricted account—is a choice that comes with tradeoffs. They have full access to the benefits of a slayer helmet - if they get a few more defense levels. If anything, asking for benefits for a restricted account with no downsides is greedy and would be irresponsible game design.

This is the same issue as Torva being 45 defense to cater to zerkers. Giving them 99% of the benefits is the same as giving them the benefit. The weapon always being a majority of the damage output is already enough in most cases and just because "you want to play the way you want to" doesnt' mean the game has to add a +6 str body that pures can use.

This type of attitude is why the average player absolutely hates self-restricted and iron accounts when it comes to blatantly non-QOL requests that are buffs.

I think the main point here is that there is a distinct difference between “let them play the game the way they want” and “this gear has requirements as part of how it is balanced and I don’t like that”
