#Convenient hunter tool acquisition - not trap storage box

What:
Let players acquire hunter tools at any major hunter area, rather than add a hunter trap storage item & specific shops in only Nardah & Yanille

How:
One or more of these solutions:
Add a new NPC who sells the tools in those areas, even if it's by text like gardeners
Add item spawns or searchable crates like in Zeah
Let players use a sword or spear instead of teasing sticks or noose wands

Why:
Jagex has proposed a trap storage item to make it more convenient to swap between hunter methods.

IMO that's the wrong approach. Hunter should be just as easy to start doing as farming or woodcutting, which is only possible if the tools are easy to obtain.

Presumably the trap storage box would only be accessible after 46 hunter or through some rng or grind as a reward. However, this kind of flexibility in changing training style is inherently more useful at lower levels, when it's only a few minutes or hours leveling up & so you might start off trapping birds & want to swap to catching kebbits in the same session. And again also you shouldn't have to go to Yanille before training in the woodlands or polar areas.

I get the idea, but it doesn't quite work to me. Ur telling me that in that specific remote area of the world full of crazy dangerous beasts will have a conveniently placed trap spawn or some hunter dude to sell me them? You probably got the contract on the hunter guild, why would you go unprepared

#

Tho I gotta say that using a sword or spear to push the creatures would be very cool

I mean if you go hunt deer and you get ambushed by a bear your gun is gonna be there for the next one to try their luck

#

BUT we could try exploring something like

Old School RuneScape Wiki

The rogue kit can be obtained as a reward from the Rogues' Den minigame. When used, it can be made into a chisel, rope, tinderbox, or spade. Once used, it cannot be changed back.
There is a 3/8 chance of obtaining a Rogue Kit when a player successfully cracks the safe at the end of the Rogues' Den maze.
The main use of this item would be in case...

but for hutner traps

Old School RuneScape Wiki

Hunter Kit is a Lunar spell that produces a hunter kit in the player's inventory, filled with various Hunter items. It requires 71 Magic and completion of the Dream Mentor quest to cast. The hunter kit's items are somewhat useful for beginning hunters, but has very limited uses for experienced hunters due to the role of the magically-produced it...

what if the guild had the kits you get from the spell for sale?

#

oooh that sounds interesting

noble mango
#

yep that would be cool!

#

could they make them stackable?

#

Even if only the shop ones

noble mango
#

if they follow through I hope they make it stackable so our bank survives hahah

I mean now that i think of it, would it even be broken if the spell kit would stack?

#

high activity 500k/h is peanuts for osrs standards

Imagine being a dumb level 1 hunter 13 year old. You go to the area marked "hunter" on the map and talk to the guy who tells you how to hunt stuff.

#

But you've not got any tools. So you're literally got to trek halfway round the world to buy some hunter gear before you come back

#

Not a chance. No wonder people never train the skill

#

However, mod other did echo the thought of "you're in the middle of nowhere wilds" being kinda cool

#

So maybe a compromise would be to add a hunter store in Relleka & gnome stronghold. Which are relatively close to the polar & woodland hunter areas

#

Item spawns or similar could also be "leftovers from an abandoned camp" like the one you search at the beginning of the Eagle's peak quest. Or the classic conveniently placed dead body

#

Both of which might also preserve the "I'm far from civilization" feel

#

theres the wiki, the skill bar, fing common sense

#

all telling you that you need the goddam trap

#

if you went there without one well, home tele and hopefully that's a lesson learnt

But there's completely different standards for different skills. Every farmer can sell you the basic tools needed (-seeds, which half the monsters in the game drop), and there a million bronze pickaxe spawns & shops which sell it in the game

#

Every skill should be just as easy to get started in
