#Clue Scroll Stackable
1 messages · Page 3 of 1
Shooting starts wasn't really nerfed heavily imo, it's still just fine
Shooting stars was buffed massivly then rebalanced
forestry is another matter
shooting stars was able to be 2 hour mined afk solo. now its 7 minutes
id say thats a substantial nerf
I would agree that it was buffed massively then reblanaced to make it not as heavy in demand on the servers
Forestry has doubled exp/h, clues wouldn't do that
So Noll, whats wrong with polling it again?
If it fails then your right
ggwp, put this post in the dirt
They made it so you can no longer ACTIVELY go out of your way to do forestry, forcing it to be DnD
Except people pass buffs all the time nowadays. You know it, I know it, it doesn't refute any of the arguments against it. If Jagex polled a training bow that scales to 10% worse than tbow from tutorial island as you use it, people would vote it it.
"Poll it and see what happens" is just an attempt to shut the conversation down
It would be very backasswards to then make clues just stackable
Okay, but how do you know that the things they voted yes are because they're voting yes to everything as opposed to just voting yes because they want it
something passing a poll literally just means 70%+ of the community clicked yes
It's very possible that the community just WANTED all those things
and so they voted yes
things have passed polls in and then needed to be nerfed
I'd wager 70% of the community genuinely wants this
yes, I know
Wanting it doesn't mean it's balanced though.
maybe so, but jagex gets the say if the community even gets the say
That's why Vladi and I have been saying it needs restrictions.
Jagex can worry about balancing it
and with recent changes to similar stuff it is more likely not to ever get polled. Its already bizzare enough that clues got a 1 hour drop timer tbf
And that's what they're doing now. By not polling it so far, which is why people saying "just poll it" are using a non-argument :/
Well if they never poll it then its w/e
Oh come on, them not polling it is not a 100% indication they don't want it
It could be for a number of other reasons
Its not a non-argument
This chat is a microcosm, a nutshell where only some people wander in and voice their opinions
the idea of polling it would be to see if the voting community would say yes
even then the voting community is much smaller than the actual community
but thats not the point
people would vote yes on stuff that is bad. this has been proven
the community saying yes =/= good idea
How is it proven?
True, but it's also not helpful for adding any reason to consider it in the first place.
Like I said above about the bow example, I could say we should add a tbow-lite to tutorial island. It will pass.
ToA
So you think ToA in general was a bad update?
Fang was horribly balanced on release and they nerfed it twice.
Should we have polls at all?
Thats basing it off of an opinion and using that as a constructed argument to say that voting is bad
yes. clearly. or it wouldnt have been nerfed
Yes, Shadow is still problematic and fucked up the Project Rebalance because it's a mega rare.
Not that often.
If anything, they leave most of those problematic changes alone.
no, its saying that polling isnt the middle step. its the final step its not just a "do you want this?"
If it's not too problematic.
this forum here imo is to suggest high level ideas
not numbers and nitty gritty details
Noone here is suggesting the lines of code needed to be written
It is, but if you can't defend the idea and it has gaping holes, it's not a great idea :/
and then the discussions in each suggestion are for us to discuss the reasons why an idea may or may not be bad
#1245788678572347494 for reference
Without making it infinitely stackable.
it's not a perfect suggestion but it's an attempt to bridge the gap
I wouldn't want it ot be infinitely stackable either
even i made a post saying "on task make clues stackable for an hour so its not as insanely obtrusive"
Just so we're clear, I'm okay with SOME stackable if it is reasonable
I think compromising is fine
I think Gow is the only one who wanted 0 cost infinite stacking
im just devils advocating on being better at making arguments
like I said this is a high level idea discussion
I just agreed to a limit
25 is super high, friendo
silence brand
let it be polled, and then let jagex hash it out til its been made reasonable
How is that infinite all the sudden
Well, until like an hour ago, all I heard from you Gow is "infinite stacking"
I can pull up the messages if you want
Hey, ive been ok to a set number for a long time
@shy sable Is 10 too high?
I want infinite, ofc i do, but i would settle for less
Should be fine as long as it's locked to something like CAs.
If that equates to stackable
My main thing that i want is just "fix the current jankness. It can stack to 2 for all i care. but the current way is unintuitive and lies to the player"
even if you say infinite you really mean 2.14b
which is absurd
noone needs that many
I also once suggested something like infinite stacking, but you must pay like 1m/scroll, so that it's not just free.
the problem with stacking at all is that we've gone from "one clue PERIOD but there are some cheeky and obtuse ways around that" to "okay we've made it a lot easier to juggle clues if you want to"
I think a good amount is where you can skill/boss/slay until you are happy to run a clue bag out for a hour or two
as long as the number is kept low to keep the DnD aspect, and not so you can just actively hunt clues
yeah theres been a few suggestions like that, but IMO theyre a bit convoluted and awkward
It's still maintaining the DnD aspect, so yeah.
a bit yeah
But better than nothing
that's adding an extra 47 hours onto the existing timer
I mean its not a hard concept
The stress factor with decaying clues is not something we should work towards
Not quite. hear me out
Forcing you to do them or lose them is not a good concept
the 1hr timer is on the clue
not the clue scroll container
there's a difference here, because you can string clues together that are on the ground to make a continuous clue
once you open the container and drop it then it has a 1 hr timer
Oh right
IMO the main issue always ends up being "do we try and preserve clue switching/combining"
I think the stress factor is a negligible thing anyways
If you're staying in a single spot for 48 hrs+
that's your opinion
Ofcourse it is
I wrote it
But i bet many would feel the same way
cause imo i think Combo Clues is stupid. And is only ever used by silly youtube series. And as a mechanic is kind of actively harmful for clues to an extent
nah its fine noll
and many feel the opposite
25 beginners 25 easy 20 med 15 hard 10 elites 10 masters be ok
not like its normally done anyways
by normal people
But it enables clues to be able to be done in area locks
its gameplay enabling
without being a hassle on normality
yeah but it also just adds lots of confusion in general and kinda inhibits a lot of potential mechanics
If you had mechs that could replace it
and allow it to be similarly content enabling
I'm for it
trading tit for tat
if you're area locking yourself, that's a personal choice and you should have to deal with the restrictions that you've imposed upon yourself
like, if right now it was just "1 hour after getting a clue, scrolls of that type stop dropping til all are done. You can hold multiple clues at a time"
Vladi, i get what your saying, but I'm saying it makes for interesting content for content creators
which is always a +
No?
no
i can think of like, 3 maybe 4 cases where they do that
Really?
and in general, its always the worst episodes lmao
I mean sure
But I'm personally for helping as many snowflakes as possible without it being a burden on normal osrs players
I don't think clue juggling has any impact on a normal player
as soon as it is a burden on a normal player, then axe it
it literally is currently impacting the core player
then they cease to be snowflakes
thats literally why we have to deal with clues as we do now
so wait
the whole point of snowflake accounts is that they're a personal challenge
its why you have to drop them, and do weird juggling
because all the clues are shared, so you can only have 1 at a time
wouldn't stackable decaying clues kinda fix that?
if they just made each clue a unique clue, that didnt bleed into the general same tier of treasure trial
then thatd remove juggling, make it more intuitive, and also make it much simpler to balance
cause you could just make it so you cant bank more than 1 sort of thing, and bam
to clarify, you're speaking about stackable decaying clues instead of clue juggling?
Each clue is unique when it gets dropped its y they dont have the same step
nah im saying if the current "1 per invent" thing was scrapped
and they were no longer softly linked to one another
how would you handle it detecting if its on the ground?
idk why but I feel like people would break that
tbf, I guess asking how you'd handle it is a bit unfair
as your not a coder afaik
Unless you're an undercover j-mod
Hey that's me
I don't disagree
yeah juggling is clunky for sure
yummy
though it was never intended to be a thing
it's only a thing now because of an unpolled change to the drop timer, that if i remember correctly was to fix something jagex accidentally broke for snowflakes
yeah iirc it was a weird bug settled ran into sometimes
so, whats the play then? We advocate removing and undo'ing the clue juggling and then make stackable decaying clues a thing that deletes the clue or something when you open another?
it ocassionaly caused clues to just, kinda reset completely and become a new clue
or remove the drop button and replace it with a destroy
I think it was y else was the 1hr timer and u being told u have a clue added same time
tbh, remove drop, make it destroy, bank only 1
and have stackable decaying clue boxes?
i mean, the way i have it envisioned with what im saying there is you could have 28 clues in an invent in theory
if you just keep getting clue drops
but like, that also requires it taking up like every invent slot
that sounds horrible XD
yeah, true, the worst
you go to X monster, you kill X monster N number of times til you get a clue box
that clue box now has a timer on it decaying for 48 hrs
you can have up to as many clue boxes as you can hold in 48 hrs
but yeah something like that could work to
but when you open it it checks to see if you have a clue
if so, then you must destroy the clue to get another out of the clue box
but yeah anything along those lines would be good
🤝
my main gripe, along with it being gross, is it being unintuitive. With the game actively lying to the player about how clues work
Snowflakes
shall never have clue rewards from now on
ggwp RIP snowflake clue hunters

i mean hey, they made an account limited to an area, they still CAN get the clues
its not just something you can giga cheese
and tbh could just make it a toggle
okay now we just gotta find the OP
3hrs of scrolling up later
and have them make the top post be decaying stackable clues and destroy option instead of drop
or, you make ANOTHER post about this
suggesting that instead
kek
thats it, im making a suggestion that links all of the clue suggestions
and its recursive, ofc
i'm voting against that because it devalues my snowflake suggestion-locked ironmeme
@shy sable @jaunty wave @ebon roost
Ya'll are the ones that've participated mostly
does this make sense for you all?
but if im locked to this one tile i should be able to have full access to all of clues, basically mitigating most of the uniqueness of being locked to an area >:C
personally i'm still against letting players have more than one clue of a given tier for so long
because that's such a huge change that takes away from the DND nature of clue scrolls
at what point if you lowered the decay time would you be happy with it
Just curious
I mean rn it decays in 1 hr
effectively
i mean i think mostly just making it so you can only have like, 3 total clues at a time stacked tops
I'm honestly going to agree with you @tame cipher letting jagex sort the numbers out and how to make stackable be implemented in a good way. If they think infinite is a ok way, fine, if they say 10 of each, then fine.
I could get behind 3-5 total clues
with no decay
but I think the nature of DnD is taht you stop what your doing to go do it
its a distraction and diversion
so having a time limit on it makes more sense in my peanut brain
But you could just have both
10 total decaying 48 hours timed clues
There would be no harm in having 10 of each on no decay
...
i don't have a specific number that i'm absolutely married to, but i believe players should be encouraged to do scrolls as they get them rather than sit on them
We wouldn't break any games and it still would be a DnD
So what if the hour was kept vladi?
Noll I honestly suggest just ignoring him entirely
1 hour long stackable clue boxes
you can get lucky and get them b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b
or w/e
and then do them all in a row
that's more or less what I suggested here: #1245788678572347494
one hour long timer that resets when you complete one scroll
Then hell yea
that way you can stack them somewhat, but you cant just gather as many as you feel like doing in a row
okay how about this
stackable up to 10 or w/e
but it has a cd on clues dropping again
and if you do the clue you get, it lowers the cd
down to 0 even
you're highly encouraged to do the clue immediately
but if you want to stack them up in like a 10 hr grind
you can
It would force you to do clues right away tbh
nah
If you are clue hunting
Eco keys are a ok way to go about
But if you spent a long time just as a normal player
that's the point of distractions and diversions
Up to a limit and then it gets less and less
to get them
and get 2-3 a day
then you can spend twice a week knocking out a bunch at once when you feel like it
and if you want to "encourage" the normal behavior of clues as they are now
nothing changes
that's very much a large change, though
personally I think they shouldn't just be taken for granted, because the whole reason they only drop one at a time (juggling being a "bug" of sorts) was to keep them somewhat special
and letting them stack and being more convenient in general erodes that severely
and starts to turn it into just another generic activity
they're already so easy to do with the clue helper plugin, that I don't understand why they need to be even more watered down
that said i'm not wholly opposed to taking what we have right now with juggling and making it less clunky. hence the suggestion I posted
If jagex finds that option the best one for all kinds of players, i would accept it
I think where we stand today is in a half finished state
but i do think it's important that they not just be made even more convenient for the sake of it, because it's already VASTLY more convenient than they were even just a few months ago
I hope they make it easy to understand the system
in short: i think the 1hr timer should remain as is. resetting the timer as you finish a clue functions the same as juggling without being so cumbersome
In the end, i have trust in jagex mods
but from there they could stack in the inventory
I do too
What about, you have 1 hour to collect clues, after that timer is out, you don't lose clues, but do not recieve new ones until you finished one
I mean, 1 hour or 2/3 could be up to jagex to adjust
A whole task could take more than 1 hour
Would be stress free
I think it's important for the player to have to make that decision
there was no stress involved before the juggling timer was changed because juggling wasnt really a thing other than for snowflakes
you either did the clue as you got it or you waited and did it later
Yeah, but we would talk like 1-2.5 clues per task on avrage here
the rates at which you get clues shouldnt matter
because they weren't supposed to be a thing that people farmed
The strenght of the buff does matter
they're supposed to be an extra reward on top of your existing activity
You are funny btw Matt
I've compromised the whole way down to almost all of your suggestion, just to see where you did end up at 😄 Couldn't move a inch
Remove the decay , nope
Small change to make more ppl happy
my suggestion was literally already a compromise between stackable clues, and how they worked before
Yeah, a compromise which you made and could not be changed in any way or form, cause you had already settled for this
Which you accused me off
That it was infinite or the high way
Dude's already been asked twice by chat mods to stop with this shit
Whats wrong Matt
Someone doesnt agree with you?
Do you realisticly think jagex will go off your exact suggestion?
<@&385422009930219520>
Please, do point it out
The same as it always does.
Welcome to the internet
I think the decay shouldn't be as long, but resets if you get a new clue or complete a clue. Most tasks are less than 1 hour anyway.
This will have to stop else the whole thread will end up locked
Its for the discussion, its not something that is about to get implemented, so lets please keep things civil
Less timers needed to keep track.
I'm fine with that
Yea I don't really want a timer
I'm down with most solutions that are reasonable.
👍
the timer's a bit of a hassle but i think it's a good midpoint between where we are now, and stackable
I'm sure Jagex will find a good path to make it good for us all
Difficult to make everyone happy, but we can hope for a good middle ground
Something we can agree on
you’re like the third mod to come in here and tell everyone to chill how many chances does everyone here get
First time I see it
but will check in with the others
Welcome to modmail the exact concerns, those tend to be actioned swifter and more accurately
most recent one was about 2 hours ago
Will be keeping an eye here myself for the evening 🫡
If there was a reason to call for you the last time it would be nice to know.
I will be the judge of that, welcome to keep on topic
Yep, so ill assume it was unwarrented seeing there was no words spoken regarding that.
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups
Enough talking about the ping and lets remain on the threads topic now
Agreed.
Infinite clue stacks, limited clue stacks in diffrent way and a revert of current way would be nice if we had a vote for, to see where the community wants to go
My vote deffo goes for infinite
Pretty damn sweet to have 1000 scrolls stacked up to do in a few weeks of DnD
Mine is a strict req on them and or limited due to CAs. The degrading stack was also a good idea
Would fit the CA rewards theme for sure, the increased drop rates
I disagree with CAs
I feel some of the CA rewards were shoe-horned in. Like the increased drop rate for clues
Wont lie, I did really did enjoy the stacked clues during leagues, but at that level it is definitely too much for the maingame
I hate how CAs aren't more rewards towards the higher end
Master is relatively shit to the amount of time you need to put in, GM is even more so.
Elite is the golden standard of time/rewards
Got a feeling that CA rewards will keep on growing the more content and ideas come in
Yes, but they've always centered around hard/elite tier
I think the boosted rates, on top of guaranteed fewest steps, and insane teleport tools made it feel much more OP
Eventually turning into something rather valuable on the higher end
Also, not to mention it is restricted to your regions
Ye master+ do be meh, I have little interest personally to push past elite
They do add up effectively boosting their impact
fair point
were they?
I seem to remember the perks came with them
Sec
Ok it was there but really small
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Update:Combat_Achievements
But that was the entire intent, literally presented as having rewards small enough people didn’t feel forced to do them like diaries
Welcome! The big news this week is the arrival of Combat Achievements – a sweet new way to measure how tough you are and score some juicy rewards for said toughness. Plus, we’ve made a couple of changes to the Gauntlet. So, find yourself a spot in the shade (or a seat by an air conditioner) and let's get stuck in!
Lamps, clue rates, much weaker boss task and GWD kc modifiers
And cosmetics
I would like CAs to remain feeling "not that required", which is one reason why I would dislike tying any form of stackable clue scrolls to them.
Imbued heart drop rate makes elite ca feel required on an iron :(
50k slayer point unlock. Slayer Bosses now roll imbued heart and gem, but still at a very rare rate.
Even if the stackable clues started on easy CA rewards?
(Random numbers example)
Easy tier: stack 2 clues
Medium tier: stack 3 clues
Hard tier: stack 4 clues
And so on
Really does, really silly and an issue on its own
I dont mind if its tied to ca i just want it to be 2 or 3 stack each tier 1 feels to low to me
Ye just an example
Point being, being tied to CAs dossnt have to mean its useful only post a high CA tier
Alot of ppl dont like this idea but i wouldnt mind if they also added it to diaries for each easy diary u can stack 1 easy clue up to 10 and goes same for each tier
I think even that. I hate to feel burdened to do e.g. the Medium tier in order to do more than 2 (I already feel like that right now).
The issue here for me is that with Shooting Stars, the way to "train it not like a D&D" is to get a POH Telescope. Maybe that's been invalidated by the idea of the Shooting Stars tracking site. But the point is that from a game perspective, in order to "train it not like a D&D", you're gatekept by something you need to unlock, but to unlock it isn't too difficult.
However, with CAs here, it just feels incredibly punishing here. It feels as though I need to get GM CAs in order to unlock the full potential of "train it not like a D&D".
I wouldn't mind this. To put it bluntly: this sounds like it's more attainable than doing it via CAs.
I feel CAs shouldn't have had anything to do with clues to begin with. Kind of makes no sense.
Reduced GWD KC, perks for Barrows, boss trophy cosmetics
Those make sense
Maybe should've been PVM-only clue rate buffs
I'll gladly sacrifice skilling rate increases if they increase it again for pvm sources
A majority of clue scrolls come from pvm, so it makes some sense to have pvm drop them more frequently
Though I agree it would have made sense to make it only increase clues from pvm
Instead of across the board
But CA rewards are so lacking their slight strengths are barely noticeable
CAs already buff clues enough IMO
Keeping things on theme is always a +
Elite is really the point where everything above it is just for fun or you happen to get it eventually, but the rewards stop being useful entirely
What if the stackable clues perks came from opening clues for each tier?
I could be down for that if they were limited in scope appropriate to their clue tier reward
You like mediums? Awesome, do a bunch and eventually you can stack them the more you get the specific reward from them that gives a +1 limit
Like 600 beginnersfor 6 beginners, 500 easies for 5 easies, all the way up to 200 elites for 2 elites
It'd help cloggers a ton without abjectly buffing people who just want it buffed for profit
I'd prefer rng instead of reaching x clues. You won't see me do more beginners after the 600 milestone which is likely greenlogged by then
Oooh so like an untradeable drop within clues of that tier
Fuck it even tradeable and then it'd be ridiculously expensive for some tiers
People would pay out the ass for an elite clue stack of 2
But yeah untradeable would probably be better
And would add another valuable item to clues ye
Idk I'm an iron so yall can decide on market shenanigans
I'm against stacking entirely but if they did introduce any sort of method that one seems like one of the least bad ideas I've heard
And it removes the worries about bloating CA rewards
Plus it'd make some people mald about their rng even more
I'm for it (against it but if it has to be one option then this one is the funniest)
Sounding like a middle ground to me
I wouldn't mind if it were an RNG drop from the casket for that tier.
On the Internet??
shocking
What i enjoy about osrs and why i still enjoy this game is the feeling of account progression, chasing the clogs, ca's, diary tasks and so on. It gives the game purpose and the game rewards you a little bit on the way when you unlock new perks, clue drop rates, thralls, fancy items and ofc the diary cape and so on.
Clues is supposed to mainly come from Pvm and it makes sense to have a stackable clue perk come from the different tiers of ca's. It's true that i enjoyed it in leagues and would love to see it in the main game at a restricted rate locked behind Ca's. Players with Master/GM also needs more content as they lack content cus of completetion.
- The meta however is to buy implings on the G.E and spam open them at the bank and get a clue and then do the clue. Usually done for beginner-hard clues.
Immediate benefits that i can think of is that players might spend some more time playing the game, exploring different corners of Gielinor and different methods to find a method that drops a clue if it's from skilling or from Pvm. Overall i think players would actually play the game more and do more different kind of activities which is positive instead of buying implings on the g.e and spam opening them in the bank. I can personally say that i would buy less implings and do a wider range of PvM challenges to obtain clues from different sources so i could stack them up to for example 10 and do them all at once.
This would result in me doing a broader range of activities and interacting with the game more than i do when i buy implings on the G.E to spam open them in the bank. In overall i would probably do less clues than i would if i were to just buy the implings on the G.E so i can't see any negative effects when it comes to the prices of the items as so many have stated.
Immediate negative effects that i can think of is that impling prices might drop as they wont reward a player with stackable clues, only a clue scroll. This would impact the botters.
Regarding elite clues and stacking of these they're already so rare and juggled to watson to store up 3 master clues and is already so rare i barely think it would impact it in any harmful way.
Would perhaps make callisto masses a bit more popular and bring players together to farm elite clues together which i see as positive. You would get like 2 elites per hour spent at a very high risk in the wilderness.
What do you think then about the idea presented above: where it could be an RNG reward from doing clues, and potentially be buyable but at an extremely high cost?
You've said that you'd want it to appear behind CAs for the following reasons:
- Clue scrolls mainly come from PvM
- Design attempts to prevent botters from accessing this
- Master/GM CAs need more content (or do you mean rewards?)
My own response to this is:
- Even though clue scrolls mainly comes from PvM, they can come elsewhere. Personally I've gained most of my clue scrolls from woodcutting. I wouldn't want to obligated to do PvM in this way - where the link between PvM and skilling here is arguably paper-thin.
- My opinion on bots is that content should not really be designed to prevent bots to such an extent. I find that such content ends up gating real players more than it does gate bots. Plus, I'd say the best solution to combat bots is to do regular bot sweeping, which is necessary anyway.
- I don't mind Master/GM getting more achievements to do, or more rewards. But with regards to rewards, I think they shouldn't be "super useful" to the extent it makes players feel as though they need to do them. For something like stackable clue scrolls, I worry you gate a potential different way to do clue scrolls (similar to the POH Telescope for Shooting Stars) ultimately behind a hefty grind, which many players might not want to do.
I'm not sure immidietly, i like the RNG part of it but feel like clue caskets already provide this in term of the rare items one can obtain. So the question would be if i were willing to pay a billion gp to obtain clue caskets. Yes, i would pay the price if it was the way.
However; i would pay 1 billion gp to play the game how i think it would be healthy for the game and i don't think every player is as lucky to have a spare billion in their bank. It would benefit some and reward others. I wish for this update to create more and broader activities and make people play the game in other ways and explore the game,
this would mostly only give that option to the very elite of the game and not the average player unless it's different tiers of this item that allows players to obtain 1-10 clue caskets for example. If every tier of clues rewarded some kind of a scroll you can exchange perhaps and masters giving a rare one which is the best. Perhaps?
i'm mostly fond of the way account progression works and must say i stand with it if i were to choose as i've used diaries, ca's and skilling as motivating factors to progress my character widely to unluck every reward in the game except for skill cape yet. :p
For the ca's reward i was thinking of stackable clues from every tier from easy to GM. Like 1,2,3,5,7,10 for easy-GM.
Overall, im fine with whatever method there is as long as it's improved as i think it would be very good for the game.
I kind of just want to run around, do some random skilling, some random PvM, some raids, some slayer and perhaps a fast method to obtain the last clues of each kind over perhaps a few days and then do all the clues at once over a few hours. I would be willing to pay whatever the price was for a item that would allow me to do this, that's for sure.
i saw an idea, not sure if it was from this thread or another one, about stackable clue scroll fragments you can combine into a clue scroll
i've just thought of something based on that which I think is reasonable
You would be able to "cut up" a clue scroll and turn it into a tattered clue scroll, which is an item that stacks in the bank. You could then later craft tattered clue scrolls back together into a clue scroll. It would be dependent on how many steps the tier of clue has.
For example, beginners have 1-3 steps, so it would take at random 1-3 tattered beginner clue scrolls and create a beginner clue scroll
Not only this be stackable clues balanced, it also adds another option for what players can do with a clue scroll with a step they can't/don't want to do
say you're an iron and you get the zamorak full helm master clue step, you can just cut up the scroll and get a tattered master clue, which you can eventually go and turn it into a new master clue
tbh kinda not opposed
That's a very interesting idea
With this idea, what is the limiting/gatekeeping factor?
the downside is that you're doing a fraction of the clues you would otherwise be able to do
if you get a medium scroll and do it, that's 1 scroll for 1 clue complete
if you cut up your scrolls, you'd need to get 3-5 medium scroll drops before you could turn it back into a medium clue scroll
you can stack up as many tattered clue scrolls as you want, but you'll be completing less clues overall
Ah I see. That's not a bad idea.
Will u still have 1hr timer
You would be able to "cut up" a clue scroll and turn it into a tattered clue scroll, which is an item that stacks in the bank.
I saw that but wat im saying will you still be able to drop clues with ur idea
New idea, golden clue scroll fragments. Finishing a clue grants 10x more clue per clue.

sure
Id still rather just have stackable clues but id be alright with that
some times when getting a clue you'll get a "golden clue" instead which has 10x the amount of steps
Interesting idea, this could be a good addition perhaps alongside stackable clues!
it is stackable clues, just not the stackable clues with no downsides that you've been asking for 🙂
Also reduce steps to 1 no matter the difficulty. Who wants to to more steps anyways? Just give us the reward.
y'all need jesus
You know what? Why even drop Scrolls? Just drop the Casket immediately. Why keep an old game mechanic that has been in the game for so long and characterizes what makes oldschool oldschool? Who in the right mind wants oldschool anyways... Oldschool is not cool anymore and everyone knows it.
Welcome to disagree with the idea, but if you dont want to be productive in the discussion then don’t partake in it at all
Lots of interesting ideas have come up here so far
Love the 'cut up' idea as well, punishes you for wanting to stack but also lets you not get 0 rewards from staying at content past a scroll drop
So that makes 2 ideas that seem very acceptable for a minor stacking buff
I was wondering, regarding the juggling. I assume that juggling elites at vorkath for example wont work since it is an instanced area
So while it works in random slayer areas, it wont do too well at some boss zones
These ideas would work for that scenario
That's a good thought, it would also be quite good for ironmen that get stuck on different steps so i really like it.
There's a few that disagree quite a lot with stackable clues here, i'm just wondering. We have implings and this is the way to do clues for beginner-hard for mains.
How about stackable clues for beginner-hard that depends on your CA tier. So lets say you are a grandmaster and can have 10 of each stackable clue, is elite clues the main problem here or? How about we reduce the amount of stackable elites down to 3?
Your trip isn’t an hour long though so you can juggle at the bank, very unlikely to get multiple pet trip anyway
It's that at some point you've got so many stacked clues of a tier that you're going tens of hours at most content without having to stop and do them, and that seems just far far too strong.
I feel like people have discussed multiple times why they don’t like the idea of stackable clues tied to CAs too
The current best way I could think of the amount of stackables would be an average of 1 hour's worth of content of stacked clues
So at the average med clue dropped content, 1 hours worth of clues stacked as the maximum
For elites, that'd cap at like 2
But it'd let you do the b2b raid or whatever I guess if you're really wanting to not do the elite now
i like how lily clues work
max 1 clue at a time, requires you to make progress or complete a challenge, guaranteed reward at the end
if you don't finish a step in [an undisclosed amount of time] you lose the clue
I will make a separate suggestion for my tattered clue scrolls idea because there seems to be positive reception
Awesome! So you suggest 1 hour worth of clues as a middle ground, could this amount to for example:
5 beginners
5 easy
5 medium
5 hard
2 elites
How would you feel about this?
Good idea, i think it would be appreciated by all the irons out there!
I would like a very small amount of clues to be able to stack, but for different reasons to everyone else: sometimes, I don't wanna drop what I'm doing to do a clue. Especially when I'm doing a clue on mobile.
I don't play much. I'm much more comfortable spending an evening grinding slayer on mobile, for example, throwing all the clue scrolls in the bank, and then doing my clues a week later once I have access to a laptop.
yeah its a touch disruptive. you can drop and they stay there for an hour though, and you can reset it, so itll rarely actually mess with a task
but also, this could be the first time youve ever heard you can drop them and they stay there for an hour, cause its stupid
this is the first time i've heard you can drop them and they stay there for an hour
and if you do this they continue to drop
curious, why did you think it wasnt the case
because items disappear after a minute when you drop them
cool ez. just wanted to save it for future arguments xd
cause i 100% agree, its stupid and hidden from the player needlessly
yeah it's a relatively new change
they will also stay on the ground and not despawn when you're logged out
also it was a single hidden line in a patch note
Also, like... is it worth my time as an occasional player? I don't really want to juggle clue scrolls for an RNG chance at an item. It'll be stressful as hell on mobile.
if you don't care about clue scrolls then it's not worth your time
I like doing clue scrolls, but, like, in a chunk, y'know?
i mean, dropping them on the floor lasting an hour just helps alleviate the immediate pressure of having to do it NOT before another drop
you rarely get another drop anyway, its nice
having a whole hour (more realistically you're probably gonna be "juggling" every 45-50 minutes) shouldn't be stressful with how much time you have before you need to pick the clues up
i mean its still an hour, even on pc when you can see the damn timer you pick it up like every 10 minutes lmao
i mean an hour on mobile isn't shorter than an hour on desktop haha
ye but i bet there's a runelite plugin for that
There is, it's way more convenient for desktop players.
yep but you should be able to recognize when it's been awhile and quickly pick up and drop the clue(s) again
or you can straight up look at what time it is when you drop the clues
and then you know by what time you should juggle them again
This argument happens in a lot of these threads. Anything to do with mobile is because the mobile version is still pretty outdated and needs serious improvement.. Comparing it to desktop for literally anything is irrelevant until they dedicate more time and manpower into actually making it comparable
Dont worry, i got your back alongside a lot of other people that try to discuss forward a solution to find a balanced way stackable clues can exist in the game.
Would be nice if we could keep the discussion to actually finding a solution and creating ideas to form a balanced solution both sides could agree on. It's obvious that since the thread has 2600 messages that there are a lot of people both for it and against it.
We should work towards actually creating something we can agree on
being able to see it on desktop also isn't super functional/useful - often the timer will just reset if you leave the area or go up/down a floor
The last time i did the dropping method runelite told me the exact times for every clue, it should work perfectly.
maybe it's a different plugin, but i'm talking about the default ground items plugin where holding alt shows the despawn timer
the timer for clues I had on the ground often reset for me at redwoods
it worked some of the time but I didn't really use it anyways because it's easy to pay attention to when I last juggled, or just have a good feeling when it's been long enough without having juggled them
I did just get a clue drop while killing scurrius and was a little frustrated i had to STOP killing the boss to go do it, set up all the items, do a quest to unlock a new area, build a stash items, and then go back to killing scurrius
when i'd rather just boss for a bit longer and do clues another day
they stay on the floor after logging out btw
hope they do make this, but this has failed polling already
Vesta Longsword failed a poll multiple times yet Jagex still insisted.
Not if you leave the scurrius boss instance :^)
Suppose you can grab it, walk out, drop it, and continue
I mean this is the opposite. If anything they’ve proven they want DnD stuff to be more DnD.
Can confirm. My clues stayed overnight. It's based on in-game timer.
All untradeable despawns are tied to the profile not the world
I'm leaning more towards just plain stackable clues atm.
Make the combat achievement tier unlock clue boxes from any sources. This would allow players to do several activities or send multiple raids and collect a few clues to do before they tune off for example.
Easy: 1
Medium: 2
Hard: 3
Elite: 5
Master: 8
Grandmaster: 10
if it were to be combat tiers, it would have to be way better than that
the gap between medium-hard-elite is a TON of content
Not rly elite is pretty free for anyone to do the hardest task is get a mimic cause its rng
The ca rewards are dogshit as is
Can confirm, a lot of tasks at the Master/GM tiers aren't actually Master/GM difficulty lol.
And since points from all tasks contribute to the tiers, while being 5-6 points for master/gm tasks, you actually get elite super easily.
I'm trash at game and have masters. You don't even need to step in inferno lmao
For example, if you leech the single cox kc early on for elite diary, you can potentially 40-60 points in one run alone.
GGs have like 60 points built into 1 perfect kill too.
You don't need to do Inferno or any team-content to hit Master tier anymore iirc.
That's the only reason why Master Tier has some rewards and GM is just rancid.
It's hilarious how people always say "GM should just be cosmetic" when proposed actual benefits, when in reality, they really mean "I can't get it so no meaningful buffs"
Yeah for sure they really made it easier so I don't see this being an issue. Also saying it should be buffed more is kinda crazy 8 stackable clues for elite is crazy
I think anyone can get gm it's just you have to want it
If it was just Master/GM locked, I would be more inclined to agree because at that point, u've made the point that you will grind out this game regardless.
Hell, give Master 75 cannonballs and GM 120 cannonballs in cannon to reflect how much longer it takes.
Seems lame it ends at Elite Tier lol
If you do slayer bosses for pvm, elites is free to get
I'd say it's easier than slayer bosses tbh, since those actually have slayer level reqs and task requirements.
If players are breathing (aka alive) and actually try out more than giant mole and kraken, you can get elite tier.
😆
even with that, marrying the number of clues you can stack to your combat tier feels weird
cas already give clue drop rates
i dont see why not
I think that's weird too lol
well i think that makes sense
put the actual rewarding rewards in a thing where it requires some effort to earn
im not saying clue rates should be buffed without the achievements
i just think its odd to tie clue chance to them, and moreso to tie the # of clues you can stack
at this point its better to keep the rates buffed per tier
but the stackable should just be stackable
i mean if i really wanted to juggle, its not hard with the 1hr timer
besides early fire cape and inferno, theres very little content that locks you in for a full hour
its just a QOL
Could just work like the hard locked reward. I.e after 400 medium you get the casket. Or whatever it is. 400 is a lot. So at 50% of the hard locked reward you can just unlock a "x" scroll box
50 masters "You find a master scroll box inside the reward casket"
100 elite "you find an elite scroll box inside the reward casket"
150 hard
200 medium
250 easy
300 beginner
Seems to be the best way to give a half way bonus to then unlock stackable clues.
It's not easily given, half way is still pretty decent grind.
It's not snowflake scape so people have to actually earn this mega clue boosting reward and it seems a fair compromise.
Don't like it? Do some more clues with RuneLite telling you exactly where to go and do you whiney baby
now this is interesting
i like this a lot actually
harveus for president
ooh that exists too? thats kind of sick
noll reed for co-president
theres a lot of ranks though, hard to divy up
novice 5
explorer 10
hunter 25
expert 50
past 50 is weird anyway 🤷♀️
i like harveus' idea for the scroll box for the specific type of clue
where the existing ranks is more of a "obtain rank get reward"
This is y just stacking 5 clues is too low for me id like to do cpl slayer tasks b4 i gotta do them
Looks fine to me
And that's your choice to do so. You shouldn't be allowed to indefinitely delay doing them because you wanted to do something else.
Let them despawn otherwise.
I know u guys are gonna say no to stackable no matter wat im saying if jagex does add it i think 5 is too low
You can just pick them up and as long as you get them back within an hour you can stack as many as you'd like by juggling
5 is a lot of clues to get at once
I know u guys are gonna say yes to stackable no matter wat im saying if jagex does add it i think 5 is too high

That's 5 hards and 3 elites it's enough to do a single slayer task if you get lucky and that's already way too much of a buff imo
Those 3 elites are also incredibly rare and thus unlikely in most cases.
I would know
I know this but i get 3-5 hard clues almost every task
On average, you're only expected to get 2-3 because 1/128 (1/121 if u go CAs) and each task rarely goes past 350 while extended. This is even less likely at bosses too.
You might get this once, but that doesn't mean it's the norm, especially if you decide to do multiple tasks rather than stopping and going to do the clue.
let me ask this question
what is the real difference between juggling and stackable
One requires you to reset every hour or lose it if you can't be bothered, allowing you to not leave an activity after 1 kc or 2 minutes skilling, but still balanced around the fact you have to do it shortly after or it despawns. You can't pick up multiple and you can't store multiple in the bank for future use.
The other can be picked up, stored in a bank, and indefinitely delayed with 0 effort aside from picking it up.
And if we have to go through the differences and why the it's fair now, I'd direct you to what I said before because it's tiresome having to explain this again when people really don't care about balance in this game, just buffs that benefit them.
Its qol to me not buff bc im doing the clues anyways
Stackable is completely decoupled from time restriction, juggling requires planning and thought as to when you want to do them before you go do something long duration like a gwd trip or something, and the effort of having to juggle them means the more you try to stack up the more effort you have to put in, actually encouraging you to do them every once in a while instead of just stacking 5 billion of them.
Again qol 1 forces u to do the clues every 1-2 tasks the other lets u do them when u want
Im doing them so its qol to me
I also still do all my elites and I would still consider it a buff because no longer need to bounce it around.
And I 100% would've saved the close to 2000+ hard clues that I let despawn in my bank because eventually they would be converted into masters.
It's an extreme benefit that doesn't sound like a QOL when you have people saying "no limit stackables" or a really high limit.
What's the downside to the benefit
The rate at which clue uniques enter the market is 99.9% the same
bad argument, that can be made in the opposite, and for other meaningless things.
And thats fine u feel that way its why i say jagex needs to poll it with different options if it doesnt pass ill accept that
Also not what polls are for.
It's really not. I've let 200+ elites despawn/not roll and if they were stackable, I would have brought in 200 more master clues worth of uniques, as I got over the burnt out period from stacking 100 masters.
Likewise, I would have an excess of clues from turael skipping and slayer from easy to hard in the thousands without having to pay for a single one.
With stackable clues there no more clue juggle step skipping. Otherwise its braindead op.
Yeah, polls are basically jagex's approval system after they've already determined that they mostly want something in the game at this point.
They're not going to poll something that they think disagree with, no matter how much the community wants it.
This is an interesting piece of the whole thing
Especially for snowflakes
theres lots of stuff people ignore, and theres lots of stupid arguments people make on this topic. Its a lot more nuanced than "Why not, its just QoL, it doesnt harm anything, theyre not worth anything anyway."
Part of the reason they're not worth doing is because how diluted the rewards are due to clue helper lol.
Making clues even easier to access and complete is not going to help and only adds to why they're so cheap in the first place.
Clue helper vs wiki searching steps is a pretty 🤷♀️ moment
do a hot-and-cold without plugin
that's bullshit.
right there.
There would just be an out of client tool
You cannot complete that faster than the plugin can, nor can you complete the slider puzzles without it.
Same with any puzzle solver
Trust me iv done cpl thousand clues without helper on mobile its a big deal
still substantially slower
most people wouldn't do clues without it
But in the grand scheme is that really the tipping pt
that's why before 2017-2019, clues were actually valuable to complete.
i think the only solution to clue helper is to just make more steps more interesting and dynamic that cant as easily be solved by predetermined sequences
or more things like Sherlock giving skilling challenges.
I'm normally very pro-QOL, but this is not QOL by any long shot.
Skilling/pvm challenges would be nice to see
Not like "kill heretic sol"
But maybe a slayer thing
Kill Jad for Grandmaster Clue step 💀
tbh that wouldnt be that hard
All my clues b4 july 2022 was with wiki
just long
That's already a thing though - kill Lizardman shaman
or do something like for BL3, where there is the puzzle game
That has dynamic solutions and cant be solved by AI/robots and is basically just a human input help thing lmao
And it's much slower than wiki. Having to search each step is much slower than a plugin. People always think it's not, but the moment the plugin breaks due to an update, they realize it real fast.
Yeah, it's like 15s max with plugin
nah, not those puzzles
Versus actually learning the logic and doing it = 30-1 minute
If lightbox didn't have a solver built in
so many people would drop that step lol
i mean, something like the BL3 Science Puzzle
Mobile doesnt solve light box or puzzle
it should be a default part of the game. I turned off the helper to test it out and it did.
this thing btw. basically get as many points as you can in a certain amount of moves. its not really AI brute forceable, and can be used to roughly equate to genome sequencing. and has been offloaded to gamers and gamified to help science out
Jagex left out puzzle/light box solver and u still gotta wiki hot/cold spots it just points u to area
And they probably wont ever add it
the unfortunate thing, is all they can do to mitigate clue helper is adding more gamified things that cant really be beaten by brute force/ai
Oh, disregard what I said above.
I think it's part of the Puzzle Solver plugin, not the Clue Helper.
and light box/slide puzzles already feel odd enough
Light box i just use brute force from wiki and puzzles are real fast to do anyways
The bruteforce method is really slow compared to the actual solve pattern lol.
I never looked how to do it after i saw brute force on wiki u dont get many
Usually takes 1-2 mins max
Takes me like 20s. My first one I spent nearly 15 minutes on it. Most people would have to actually learn how to solve it if not, and/or find the bruteforce method.
We're detracting a bit, but I see stackables in the same light to Clue Helper, convenient as hell but makes it too easy to complete clues at a rate you normally wouldn't get in the past. This is supported by the prices dips from when the plugin was introduced until now, and the fact that I can complete steps on RL with plugins much faster than you can on mobile (without plugins).
Based on the feedback i created some alternatives, how about any of these? Any adjustments or thoughts?
Make the combat achievement tier unlock clue boxes from any sources. This would allow players to do several activities or send multiple raids and collect a few clues to do before they tune off for example.
Alternative 1:
Easy CA: 1 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Medium CA: 2 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Hard CA: 3 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Elite CA: 4 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Master CA: 5 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Grandmaster CA: 10 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Alternative 2:
Easy CA: 5 beginner clue scroll boxes
Medium CA: 5 easy clue scroll boxes
Hard CA: 5 medium clue scroll boxes
Elite CA: 5 hard clue scroll boxes
Master CA: 5 elite clue scroll boxes
Grandmaster CA: 5 master clue scroll boxes
Alternative 3.
100 clue scrolls completed: 3 **Beginner **clue scroll boxes
200 clue scrolls completed: 3 **easy **clue scroll boxes
400 clue scrolls completed: 3 **medium **clue scroll boxes
600 clue scrolls completed: 3 **hard **clue scroll boxes
1000 clue scrolls completed: 3 **elite **clue scroll boxes
1500 clue scrolls completed: 3 **master **clue scroll boxes
2000 clue scrolls completed: 5 clue scroll boxes of each kind.
Maybe a mix of alternative 3 with 2 clue scroll boxes and 2000 increasing it to 3, and alternative 2 providing another 2 scroll boxes on top of that to still total 5.
Or different numbers if people think that 5 boxes is too much/too little
im perfectly fine with 3, like i've said before I think making it part of the clue rank makes sense
Alternative 3 is the only option I'd agree with, personally.
CAs already have the benefit of increasing clue drop rates anyways
i dont really do clues just because i dont want to leave mid-task and/or regear for wildy steps etc---- just let me stack the clues goddamnit so i can do them when i feel like it.
Please stop trying to force every proposal to be tied to CAs
I know you put the alternate thing in there too as a token but it’s clear you’re just trying to flood the forum with your opinion to drown out other discussion, at least how it feels to me
Regarding alternative 3, would you like to see anything reworked on this or is it fine as it is?
Based on the feedback i made some changes to the proposal, any adjustments needed?
Make the combat achievement tier/treasure trail ranks award players with clue scroll boxes from any sources.
This would allow players to do several activities or send multiple raids and collect a few clues clue scroll boxes, awarding players with incentives to explore the game through skilling, PvM or mass Callisto for example instead of buying implings to spam open them at the bank.
Alternative 1:
Easy CA: 1 clue scroll box of each kind
Medium CA: 2 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Hard CA: 3 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Elite CA: 4 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Master CA: 5 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Grandmaster CA: 10 clue scroll boxes of each kind
**Alternative 2: **
Easy CA: 3 beginner clue scroll boxes
Medium CA: 3 easy clue scroll boxes
Hard CA: 3 medium clue scroll boxes
Elite CA: 3 hard clue scroll boxes
Master CA: 3 elite clue scroll boxes
Grandmaster CA: 5 clue scroll boxes of each kind.
Alternative 3.0
100 clue scrolls completed: 3 Beginner clue scroll boxes
200 clue scrolls completed: 3 easy clue scroll boxes
400 clue scrolls completed: 3 medium clue scroll boxes
600 clue scrolls completed: 3 hard clue scroll boxes
1000 clue scrolls completed: 3 elite clue scroll boxes
1500 clue scrolls completed: 3 master clue scroll boxes
2000 clue scrolls completed: 5 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Alternative 3.1 (More in line with the actual ranks)
Novice: 101 clue scrolls completed: 3 Beginner clue scroll boxes
The explorer: 201 clue scrolls completed: 3 easy clue scroll boxes
Treasure hunter: 401 clue scrolls completed: 3 medium clue scroll boxes
Expert: 601 clue scrolls completed: 3 hard clue scroll boxes
Elite: 1001 clue scrolls completed: 3 elite clue scroll boxes
Master: 1501 clue scrolls completed: 4 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Legend: 2001 clue scrolls completed: 5 clue scroll boxes of each kind
Regarding alternative 3: I think I've said it before, but I like the concept because it means "the more clue scrolls you do, the more benefits you get":
- It's quite a natural upgrade to get a benefit to something from the same something you're doing.
- Whatever clue you would like to do, will contribute to the benefit. This gives additional value to any clue scroll.
- You could potentially "be efficient" in this: someone who wants to get the benefit fast can choose to do e.g. Beginner clue scrolls. This gives additional value to doing the lower clue scrolls that may feel irrelevant.
The only issue I find is the limited size of the stackables, but this might be fine as a restriction if we don't expect the player to be stacking more than 3-5 of each kind.
Whether this is a better suggestion or worse suggestion than https://discord.com/channels/324132423636090880/1247145263462748210 or https://discord.com/channels/324132423636090880/1245788678572347494 is a different question though.
In my personal opinion just having stackable clue scrolls is a much better suggestion than either of the other two
I'd only take one of the other two if for whatever reason it is decided that we cant have stackable clue scrolls
funny because he just proves you right and did it again
Doesn't that just mean that the proposal is made by listening to the players that give their constructive feedback? Lets keep the chat civil please.
I think i might have been a little bit too restricted on the clue scroll boxes for the lower kind, could perhaps adjust some of the numbers a bit.
I see a lot of yappers
That just want free unlimited stackable clues
@forest ore Why not have each clue completions contribute to it is own stackable unlocks
I still think it is best to just do every 100 clues done of it is tier is +1 stackable clue for it
It is simple you want to stack more hard clues then do hard clues
Total clues will just make everyone farm tousands of begginers or easy
But jagex rarely does stuff simply it will be some random grindible system like total clues if it ever gets added
yeah this tbh. i mostly just sent the ss of the weird tier thing that exists cause just felt like it may be worth some thought.
but also, if people wanna grind 1000 beginner clues to get +2 stackable clues, go off king i guess?
I like this, however, there should be a cap on max stackable clues
Maybe
But most people dont have that many clues done
Unlimited stackable clues, put it to the vote and let players decide
done and done
ooh unfortunately it didnt pass
and that's with a cap of 5, not even unlimited stackable clues
for it to poll better it would have to be locked behind something
i really like the idea of 1/2 way to the clue reward, ex 500 easy clues = large spade, so 250 easy clues = clue scroll box that can hold 5 (or maybe 10) clues
300 hard = uri emote
150 hard = hard clue scroll box (holds 5 or 10)
or a mix of reward-locked ideas
150 hard clues = box holds 5
300 hard clues = holds 10
or
150 hard clues = box holds 5
hard combat diaries = holds 10
--Clue rank--
Wiki links found:
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Clue_rank
yeah that was brought up a few times in this thread
im not sure how to integrate those ranks with the rewards
half way to clue reward is not really that many clues
maybe WITH the clue reward
so 600 beginners = you can stack X beginners
i kinda like that
i think it would have to start at 10 instead of 5 in that case
then would it stop at 10, or maybe combat diaries could increase the allowed stack limit?
and should diary tier = clue tier? or diary = overall
ex:
easy achievements = +5 easy clues
med = +5 meds
or
easy achievements = +1 overall
med = +3 overall
for multiple reasons it shouldn't be tied to combat achievements
i agree
i said before i think its weird the drop rate is already tied to them
but how would you (if at all) implement increasing the # of clues storable
CAs already increase the drop rates of clues, and there's not really a clean, good way to tie what clues you can stack to CAs
easy = easy and so on
if that were the route
maybe grandmaster would then be an overall increase
yeah but like the effort required for the reward doesn't really match up imo
not just for GM, but also for easy CA = stackable easies, etc
stackable easys, mediums, and hards is much better than stackable elites or masters
but with that idea, the better rewards would be from the easier CAs/tiers
CAs already struggle with master and gm tiers having pretty weak rewards
but it would also feel weird to get stackable easys or mediums by completing the MASTER gm tier
that's why I think it wouldnt be a clean or good way to go about it
ultimately my opinion on stackable clues is either this idea I suggested https://discord.com/channels/324132423636090880/1247145263462748210 or making it based on --Clue rank-- like I've talked about before, where more clues completed = more clues you can stack
Wiki links found:
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Clue_rank
but what is the starting point
and for the latter I would probably say each clue rank increases how many you can hold total, instead of being tier based
so say the last rank lets you hold 10 stackable clues total, it'd count all tiers, not 10 of each tier
idk, could be +1 per rank
starting at 0
and if you just spammed beginners this would only take a few hours to unlock
58,250 GP per beginner clue from young impling jar at current prices is 116.5m to hit the max rank with only beginners
and you will make very little of it back
they could change clue rank so only the clues completed up to the milestone reward count towards increasing your rank
actually 76 mil apparently if you count the other loot from young imps
if someone wants to spend 76 mil (at current prices, it would definitely go up if it was added) to do 2000 beginners, honestly i'm fine with that
but this would be better, completing all the milestones adds up to 2100 anyways which lines up pretty well with the final clue rank being at 2000 clues completed
We discussed stackable clues in the clan today, almost everyone wanted it to be tied to CA's and 10 stackable, looking forward to a poll soon!
Glad you have one piece of anecdotal evidence with 0 significance!
I mean if you are going to make them stackable either tying it to quest points or CA's is the way to do it
maybe a little of both
only get stackable ones for the highest tier of CA's you have done
and the amount you can stack is tied to quests
do the medium CA's you can stack 3 medium clues and then for every x amount of quest points you have you get to add 1 more to your max stack
say every 25 points
idk
We discussed the trickster boots from trailblazer league in my clan, almost everyone wanted them in the main game, looking forward to a poll soon!
no
clues shouldnt be tied to quest, diaries or CA
clues should be tied to number of completed clues
it is the only way it makes sense
want more clues to stack? then grind clues
CA is already stacked with rewards you get 5% for clue drops
much better to have it is own system
only those who are dedicated and like to do clues should be rewarded with stackable clues
You mean buy implings on the G.E and spam open them in the bank and drop clues on the ground?
That's gameplay for the past mate
I wouldn’t mind a rs3 version of clue stacking if u had to do something to be able to stack them
to this day I wish implings didnt have clues or were tradeable
I hate leaving pvm to go do my clues
Delete implings and let us collect them through gameplay!
Pull a clue from cox and either stick it in bank or leave your boys for a half hour and miss the next raid
Or drop it and finish your raid in less than an hour
Idk I mean I am not a mega clue person but it is fun to open and see what u get
I’ve only done like 230 ish clues on my main mostly elite/masters
If they were stackable I would 100% be doing more
Same here hunter
Implings is a old and sorry, but ''shit system'' to obtain clues. I want to play the game, explore the game and collect clues from every corner of Gielinor.
I just cba leaving depositing my gear getting clue stuff doing clue depositing gear rehearing for content do 3 kills repeat
I wouldn’t care if they removed imp clues and make them only drops
I now just do slayer/raid get elites and turn them into master
There are way worse things to complain about than getting lucky on clues lol
If I pull an elite I open imps turn into masters
Don’t bother with anything lower anymore
And I’ll typically stack 3 masters to do them aswell
1 in bank 1 in Watson and another set ready
A lot of people enjoy clues, but they dont do the activity because who the hell ditches their friends to do 1 clue in a MMORPG?
(Joking)
Make clues group content!!! lol
(Again I’m joking)
I have not done a single "team" activity in 4 years so it doesnt matter to me
I just dont want to leave while bossing solo or doing slayer
I always ask friends for team content but if no1 is around I just solo cox/toa
Or quadrolo/boost myself at bosses
Pet grind op
I just hope Jagex actually improves clues soon and gives the community what they want!
Put no limit on how many clues u can have but they cant be stacked each 1 takes up a bank slot
That would be fun! Any update to clues would be greatly appreciated
I wouldn’t mind some kinda pvm challenges in a higher tier clue
Would ofc prefer stackable tho
Almost like a combat achievement step instead of a skilling step
Or give people 2 choices
Beat x boss in x time
Or
Do this actions skilling related
huh? Where did you find this
I’m saying that would be nice to see on them
Cool conscept, but sounds more like a daily quest of some kind
Like I would rather run a solo bossing encounter in x time or with x gear over a skilling requirement
And I’m almost 2150 total still don’t wanna chop a damn tree
Wait til you discover how slow runecrafting is
I think I’m mid 80 rcing?
I just buy runners
Rather pay for runners and make my gp back
It’s fast enough pace for me I don’t mind it
They usually wanna quit before me
😂😂
^^
Ya me too
I think the whole concept for OSRS is to keep doing something until you want to stop, or have finished what you were doing. A LOT of content where clues drop are something you can AFK on.
I'm doing that content because I want to AFK, not have to stop everything I'm doing to do a clue. I do want the Collection Logs from them and feel terrible doing them (even if I get a Log slot). I feel that way because I can't think of any other content in the game that interrupt everything you are doing.
"Then don't do them if they make you feel bad." How else will I get the items I want if I just stop grinding for them. That can be said for any content in the game too. In a way, that's like asking someone to go do Runecraft for 15m every 50 kills they get on a slayer task. It might be optional, but if that was your only way of getting runes, you will do it. This is an extreme case, but this is basically how I feel about clues now.
The game has changed to accommodate players and will continue to do so over time. I see having Clues stackable is just another thing that should change for the better of the players. If you see that as a buff, or QoL doesn't matter to me. At the end of the day, it's a change many people are asking for.
AFK activity is just about the easiest place to just drop clues and juggle them. They last for an hour on the ground so that’s a few clicks every hour.
It failed with 5 stackables in the past already.
And for the crowd saying just repoll it, most people were not happy with them repolling some past poll questions over and over until they finally integrity changed it in, so it's extremely hypocritical to say that now.
The clue juggling for one hour at a time already lets you afk and if you really can't handle having to pick up clues every hour as the reason for stackables, you might as well just say to give you secondary bis gear because you can't be bothered to get it or bis gear.
This isn't an arbitrary Jagex limitation like left-click construction, it's part of how clues are balanced.
Either you give significant tradeoffs for stackables, it has high requirements (+1 per 100-200 clues, CAs, etc.), or just leave it as is because what players want but can't justify having besides "i want it" is the dumbest reason to add something that isn't a cosmetic and actually impacts the game.
They should have never added stackable cluescrolls to Leagues, every time a leagues happens you have people asking for the most insanely op shit to be added to main game because they can't handle the way it actually works
You had serious posts last leagues saying make run energy not drain outside of combat in main game
Yup, I'm sure most people would vote to kill Agility from the game entirely.
Does that make it good? No.
To remove a whole fucking skill based on people's opinion? Fuck off.
It's almost always "I want this thing easier because the game is meant to accomdate the players who have 17 children and 6 jobs and a wife"
Truth be told, the game could do without every skill besides combat and even then, remove combat, everyone gets 99s.
People wouldn't mind all the benefits without having to grind it out.
But that's just the game.
Should Run Energy drain be made more relevant and modernized to reflect heavier weights you bring around + drain scale better? Absolutely.
That's a solid middle ground./
I'm sure a lot more player than myself want items that are cosmetic. And they don't provide any game play advantage. An examples are ornament kits, even those not from clues (Ancient Blood kit). Some people even go out of their way to get Amulet of Eternal Glory. People do like to show off their shiny things. So I think the argument of "I want it" is still a valid excuse of a change.
Even if they, or other people see it as hypocritical. I don't see why they can't poll the same thing twice ever. Things change, that being time and the people who play now.
We know the players have changed, changed to vote every single thing in that isn't pvp-related and presented like a buff in. It's even more than evident by how many things get nerfed soon after release and even more so by how much crying and whining when Jagex takes away things that are busted (Flames of Zamorak the most recent nerf, Forestry before that, Fang 2x nerf, Rebalance).
That's why it's even more important to keep shit balanced because the players aren't going to do that anymore. If 5 stackables without any conditions failed, there's even less reason to repoll unlimited or 5 stackables again.
You need further restrictions like based on every 100-200 clues, +1 stackable, OR you get the option to make a significant tradeoff in order to make stackable (ie. clues are 2x rarer).
I don't think I was pushing unlimited stacks, even though I still would like that. It having any stack is better than none.
I wasn't playing when they voted clue stacking, so I don't know how the game was balanced back then.
But what I can now, if clue helper was not a thing, I would not be doing clues at all.
If clues start stacking, I would not only do more clues and not have others go to waste because I didn't want to leave. But I would feel a lot happier about doing them regardless.
And thats y i think jagex will eventually poll it bc i believe they want us doing more clues why else would they add a message telling us we would have received a clue
buy the clue items on the ge then
youre welcome
Not everyone is a "normal" account.
The alternatives is:
- Buy implings in a spam opening in bank and to drop them.
- Play the game, explore the game and collect clues from every corner of Gielinor.
What sounds better?
I can't actually believe that some very specific 3-4 individuals yapp so much about how much they dont want a change and would rather have the whole community spam buy implings and ''how much better it is''. Makes absolutely no sense to me.
And if it was just a matter of "buy the item," then there shouldn't be an issue with clues stacking. More people can buy the items do to more items being in GE
You already can and do collect clues while playing the game
I don't recall seeing anyone argue in favor of implings? even the people who aren't in favor of stackable clues tend to agree that buying clues through implings is silly
Vote yes to stackable clues then! Problem solved and rip implings
those ideas aren't tied together, clues can be removed from impling drop tables without adding stackable clues
I actually think implings should still give clues, but only if you caught the impling yourself
if you catch it yourself, it should be able to drop a clue like currently, but if you buy it from the GE, it shouldn't have a chance at clues
Things like ensouled heads behave differently before/after they get banked so it’s definitely possible to do it within the engine
But yeah if anything I’ve never been a proponent of “just implings lol” but also feel that’s distinct from stackable clues
I think easy clues are a good demonstration of where clues should be at tbh where implings obviously are faster but ham members are still fast, but that’s not seen as much with mediums which are the most directly influenced clues since the next best alternative is slow but the implings are still reasonably priced
If say pickpocketing a medium clue from gnomes didn’t take significantly longer than going and catching 25 eclectics yourself I’d take data’s point a step further and say even that completely removing clues from implings could be fine too, though I still do like the option of randomly barehanding one while running and getting a clue
if someone puts in the work to catch hundreds or thousands of implings themselves, i dont really have any issue with them saving em up and opening them all do a bunch of clues
what I do have a problem with is being able to effectively buy medium clues from the GE to do them AND profit from it
Intentionally farming implings is also an activity that intentionally nets you “stackable clues,” and I like the concept of having to put in extra effort to a specific task to “stack” clues from implings. Honestly I agree with you 100% now
purchased impling jars not having clues would probably also cut down on some of the bot farms in puro puro
less incentive for bots to do it
Another thing that I would like for them to try out is drops-specific stackable.
I know the majority of the community would bitch and moan if something like Inferno/Colosseum gave stackable elites because they can't do it.
But it is something that you can't pawn onto others to do and then you buy.
Could do with adding elite clues to either of those pieces of content to begin with xd
And either really rare (unstackable) elites from Jad or just hard clues
The only issue I see with traded imps not having the ability to drop clues is that every imp would need two versions
I'm in favor honestly but it could be a tad annoying to enable
.
Stackable clues when?
Just make X amount stackable and each CA tier gives you an extra or two more you can hold
Like you start norm then easy cas let you have 2 then meds 3 or 4 etc
Quest reward? Could let a quest give you + 5 clues in a stack, add a +1 for each Ca you done, + 1 for each full diary you completed (all easy = +1) etc? Maybe you could pay a npc x amount for a +2. Could be multiple of ways to do this
I don't think there's much else to say here unless anyone else has any original ideas like https://discord.com/channels/324132423636090880/1247145263462748210
otherwise we're just retreading the same "add +X stackable clues as a reward from X"
Would love it to be behind quests but ppl would sob
Haters gonna hate. Let them discus stackable clues if they want to!
Wonderful idea, bring it @ jagex!
sure, there's just nothing else to say that hasn't already been said
if people want to repeat the same discussion, they're free to
Can't say I remember the quest point suggestion popping up before
I'd love that one by far the most but ppl would get pissy about it
Idk if I mentioned it in this thread or the other thread but make the ability to stack clues tied to CA's and the number you can stack tied to Quest Points. Best of both requirements and pisses everyone off
You need Elite CA's done to stack Elite Clues and you can only stack 1 extra Elite Clue per 100 QP
Lower level scrolls would have lower QP reqs per stack, like easy needs easy CA's + 25QP per scroll
I will say, make a scroll sack if you're gonna give people the ability to stack em
At least for your inactive scrolls
Ppl are pissed off no matter what lmao
I dig the idea somewhat but I also want the limit to be 5 instead of 4 mostly cuz it'd bug me which is no good argument but yolo
Right now what I'm doing lately, is during slayer task, I pick up the 1 hard, and then when I need to rebank I drop it by the bank (in my case farming guild), eventually when they pile to 3-4 I start doing them.
Still opposed to tying it to CAs
Clue scroll drop rate buff to me seemed like Jagex pulling shit out of their ass to fill reward space
Okay, but why do we have to juggle clues like that
Why did jagex decide we can store multiple on the floor but not in our banks?
It just makes no logical sense and there’s already stackable clues coded for leagues, port the code over and let us stack multiple already.
If you want that logic, then this was an unpolled change that should be reverted.
But you won't want that either.
Since that's a fair middle ground that already exist, but you want to take a mile when they gave you an inch.
I would, either let us bank them or let us only have 1 at all times, whether it’s on ground or in inv/bank etc
The fact you can drop clues, get a 1 hour timer, log out for days come back and they’re still there etc but not just bank them is ridiculous
Make it 1, or make it multiple.
Alright revert 🤝
+1
Or let us bank multiple like the overwhelming majority of players on this thread want
And makes sense in today’s era
Clue scrolls were added as a “distraction and diversion” event
We now have birdhouse runs, dailies etc
There’s enough distraction and diversion
remember when you had to assemble a dark totem in order to continue receiving pieces? pepperidge farm remembers
of course it was sensibly changed because it was kinda dumb you had to pick up and run to the bank mid task just to continue to get drops, only to come back and realise you lost your dust devils spot 😂
thankfully dust devils don't drop clues to begin with, so we don't have that problem with clues there 🤣
seriously, why do fire giants n dust devils not drop any clues
on a related note, when will jamflex fix the sneaking suspicion bug??
they havent even acknowledged it
what bug
if you mean the text that pops up, its in game settings and can be toggled off - this wouldn't be considered a bug though so i assum eyou mean something else
when you have a master clue in ur bank, every clue casket you open says "you would have received a master"
i did 75 easy caskets hunting for flared trousers for the emote step, and all 75 times i got the message
lol
Yeah, just a super low importance bug. Report in-game and spam on reddit a bit and it'll eventually get fixed.
The more I read stuff here I see people just want free or easy stackable clues
That would ruin the prestige
I already dislike clues
I would rather have an option to disable their drops than add a stacking mechanic
but if you want to make them stackable make it tied to completionist goals like elite CA, Quest Cape, etc
What prestige? You can literally juggle endless clues. If you can keep 50 on the ground for weeks, why not just let us put them in our bank? Clues were introduced as a distraction and diversion event when there were very few other things to break up content. Nowadays, there’s endless distraction and timed runs to do, the intended clue purpose is redundant, so let us collate them and do them in one big session which better fits the game’s current state
Not to mention mains have buyable clues
The “prestige” of clues was irrevocably annihilated long ago.
this is not chance for those who dislike clues
this should be change to those who like clues
dislike clues then dont do them
thats why only way you should get multiple stackable clues is by actual clue completion
100 clues done in that tier is +1 stack to that tier
not some free stacks
or stacks from CA
only those who did clues should be rewarded
and if you dont do or like clues you dont deserve stackable clues
keep on dropping them like nothing
if they propose free or easy way of stackable clues I will vote no
on all my accounts
and I hope it fails
it will be my mission to fail that vote
and if they make stackable clues this will have to be 100% be removed
no free stacks on ground
see I can get behind that
make it some sort of reward at sherlock
think someone else mentioned that as an idea at some point
might have been in the clue scraps suggestion
the main point of making it tied to an external account progression system outside of just doing clues is to make it less abusable
could be more intricate
50 100 200
I have no issue there
as long as it isn't the original polled suggestion of getting 3 or 5 stackable right off of tutorial island
it needs to stay at 1 per on fresh accounts and be something you earn over time
eh most of the CA rewards can be hit or miss
the clue droprate buffs seem to be the most popular
and making people go out of their way to fight endgame challenges is a good way of giving high end rewards
Clues are delicate matter
and a lot of people are very lazy to them so I am scared what Jagex might do
for them free stacks might not be out of question
Reddit would absolutely lose their mind if it was locked behind any sort of challenge or grind, and I don't want them at all unless they're very hard to get
And you can't just stack 50 "for free", it's an active thing you've got to go replenish every hour or they all disappear. You've gotta ferry them to where you're doing new content, or you have to leave the content to go pick up and put them all down. All stuff that costs time to do. It's a middleground I'd rather didn't exist at all but it's preferable to just free stacking in your bank.
like i've said before:
+1 stackable clue of any type every time you "rank up" your --clue rank--, and then if necessary they could change it so clues done past the milestone reward count (aka only the first 600 beginners count to your clue rank, first 500 easys, first 400 mediums, etc)
Wiki links found:
https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/clue_rank
this almost perfectly lines up with the number of clues required for each clue rank currently, because 600 + 500 + 400 + 300 + 200 + 100 = 2100
Yeah, this is pretty much the best way to do it if they have to do it
this is one of the only ways I would accept stackable clues
You get rewarded for doing a lot of clues
And that's it
Don't like clues? No reward
I dont like total clues = stacks for any clues
Everyone will go farm easy/begginers to get max stackable clues and stack hard+ clues
Yeah I'd prefer it be the clue milestone rewards
600 beginners, 500 easies, 400 meds, 300 hards, 200 elites, 100 masters
yeah that's why I specified if they were concerned about people spamming beginners/easies to rank up, they could make it so your clue rank doesn't count clues done after the milestone reward was reached
making it directly tied to the milestone rewards would also work though
ooh they fixed it
So it was a bug
Bro just say "I got spoiled during Leagues." It's okay... we all did. You can admit it.
Would prefer a system that rewards the players from their account achievements such as combat achievements. Clue scrolls is already included there and stackable clues could be too!
Last thing i want to see is bot farms spamming clues, stackable clues locked behind combat ca's would combat that!
Bro, juggling already exists. At this point what’s the difference from just letting us bank them instead of doing some dumb ass work around?
They were introduced as a distraction and diversion when not many existed in the game. Now there’s endless D&D. There’s no need for them to be the way they are anymore.
This seems less problematic if it's an unlock. Whether that's behind a quest, ca's, slayer points, or something else. It has to be pretty hard to get. Maybe everybody gets stackable beginners, but the rest of them scale with your achievement ranking?
If it's a slayer unlock, I would expect something more like a physical item: a scroll case, which can hold a limited number of each tier... maybe the average number required to finish each? (So... 2 beginners, 3 easy, etc.)
Maybe make that available not only through slayer but through... Molch Island fishing... since you can also get clues from fishing?

Just make scrollboxes work like in leagues. You still have to do the clues
Too much to read... so, I am going to say my suggestion. If already said, then you know I am for it.
A Clue scroll Book that holds a number of clues. It stores them as Clue Pages. You are only given a number of empty pages per clue scroll book type. There a type for all different difficulties. Say, 20 for hard, 25 for mediums. Each have their own book. Once they are filled, that is it. Can't "stack" no more. All pages used. If you do/tear out a clue from the book, that is it. No more. Gotta get another book once all the pages are used.
This has to be available for all player types. Slayer points, out of the question for skillers. Hunter such as from implings, out of the question for PVM accounts. Ultimate irons can use too!
How to obtain? Why Treasure Trails of course. If it is meant for TT then it should be given out by TT.
It is an reward, great money maker, and great QOL. You can stack all "unopened" books in the bank but once you add a page, or already have one with a page(s) then you can unopen another other.
If only
Tho honestly having it scale with the number of clues done sounds ideal
