It seems silly that its not in the quest log but "i refuse to look things up and I encountered something i didnt know about" seems like a weird complaint
Wait til you find out about clues
i feel like if ur infuratied just look at reqs ur handicapping urself on purpose. and then getting mad because ur dealing with consequences from handicapping urself.
there are tools that exist if u want to know everything u need to know if u dont want to use them
then gg i guess
solution already exists if u decide to use it
Why is it weird to not want spoilers about game play? It should be in the quest log, or when I try to enter the portal, all of my missing requirements should be listed (like with the other characters I had to deal with at the table).
The solution you're proposing includes spoilers. I am asking for solutions in-game consistent with the other quest logs and character prompts.
I have done a few clues.
Think about this though, the quest was probably meant for you to run into this situation
it’s 8 quests in one, and each has their own requirement
In which each little thing contributes to a bigger prize
You not being able to continue without DT1 shows that it did what you wanted
you don’t need DT1 to do the monkey step, you don’t need mm1 to do the goblin step
I've already done all of the guys at the table. No problem with that. I'm talking about trying to enter the culinaromancer portal, where apparently I need 175 quest points, horror of the deep and desert treasure I. It doesn't tell me I need all of these at once, like it did with the other steps.
I didn’t run into this issue at all cuz by the time u get 175 qp, u should’ve done horror and dt1
So I spent a few weeks getting the 175 points, tried to finish the quest with my friend, we clicked on the portal at the same time, and then it said I still needed to do horror from the deep. He quickly left, I did the bar crawl and horror from the deep, and then tried to go back at it again, and then it told me I needed DT1. Now I'm 3 quests behind, and I could have done those towards my 175, if the game had lasted all 3 requirements when I tried to enter the portal.
Not really a big issue - just do it and go again
"should have"? Thanks for being dismissive. Maybe a decade ago when the quest was released. Now it is quite easy to get 175 without doing those. No, it's not a "game-breaking" issue, but it did mess up our ability to plan, and was inconsistent with the rest of the quests I've experienced, and meant that we couldn't finish the quest for his birthday. Last time I checked, this channel wasn't "big issues that need to be fixed". Way to be toxic.
you're missing the point. it's not just gearing up twice. It's being consistent. For each of the other steps in the quest, and with all of the quest logs, they tell you what you need to get done in a list. This stage does not. It meant that plans we made could not be followed through with. It's not a difficult request, especially since it aligns with what Jagex is already doing.
Your name fits.
And the wiki isn't part of the game. The game should be able to be played without the wiki.
But it did have a hidden requirement. It never stated that I needed to have 175 quest points, or do Horror in the Deep, or Desert Treasure I.
I'm so glad you don't work for Jagex, if this is how you react when someone points out an inconsistency and suggests that this "minor inconvenience" be corrected to align with their format.
not until I had completed the items before it. And the sequence was 175 quest points, then horror of the deep, and then desert treasure.
if anything, the order should be reversed so that completion of those quests gets counted towards the 175.
Just go away. You don't appreciate consistency and only want to tell someone that their suggestion isn't "groundbreaking". Who cares? It's a suggestion.
Oh, this is rich... you've been typing for a long time. Can't wait to read it.
How are you going to belittle me next?
I'm waiting
Come on... type faster.
Sewer do you have nothing better to do with your time? Seriously dude..
I didn't ask for the requirements AT THE START. I asked for the requirements to be listed when I clicked on the portal for the first time, just like it did for each of the other dudes when I tried to go get their sub-quest items done.
Out of curiosity, do you spend your whole day trolling these suggestions just to shit on the ones that you think should be "sucked up", because you had to trudge through it?
Actually, the first person to respond said it was silly that it wasn't in the quest log like the others, so...
I believe you may need to re-count or go back to school, BUDDY
Re-Read...
Your Trolling is making me laugh..
Again, most suggestions here require a big change from Jagex. This is a simple one. So I don't see why you're so upset with it being suggested. Minor changes are easy, especially when they bring about consistency and align with the game's current structure. So again, why are you here?
Exactly it's a suggestion.
Erm it's a bit more than a Mere Comment - Don't you think?
No, you didn't understand the suggestion and just started ripping into my idea. That's toxic.
In my quest log it still doesn't say that I need to complete Desert Treasure I.
Dude, you really need to actually understand the Suggestion.. You dont get it.
My quest log isn't updating with the culinaromancer requirements. It updated with Sir Amik, with each of the guys at the table... and then stopped.
I rest my case.
Trolly troll is trolling.
I don't want to get involved in Arguing with a troll. Either you are one, or your just plain stupid to understand. Either way, Good luck.
No... it was his birthday present to get the gloves, and he was the one who's been patiently waiting for me to get the requirements to do the quest, and I tried to surprise him today that I had gotten the 175 quest points, told him I was suggesting an update to the quest log in line with how it is done for the other characters at the table, and he was aware I was typing it as it was being posted. So no, "her pet" is her friend, you know... people that have your back and will tell you when ideas suck without sounding like a dick about it.
No, that's not toxic, and that statement itself would have been very helpful at the start.
However, my suggestion is just that: a suggestion that since the quest logs help you keep track of your next step (because I don't play OSRS all day every day), then it should be updated for the culinaromancer, just like it is for all the other parts of the quest.
lol I don't get all the hate in this thread. Yeah, it's probably a little unusual to not have completed those quests before finishing recipe for disaster, but not that weird - especially in 2023 when there are tons of quests you can instead of those. At the time RFD came out it was much more likely you'd have done those
This is perfectly normal & valid gameplay feedback. Devs probably didn't think of this scenario
Also, it seems somewhat arbitrary to have those quests as requirements just for "how to do the bosses".
From the absolute pasta I've been able to get from this. It's somewhat strange to close yourself off from information (not a problem) but when the premise that you expected to finish the quest gets overturned by extra requirements you didn't know about/quest log didn't inform you of, is a little off. Like did you want to figure this out on your own, did you want something to tell you what to do? Did you do this to have a non spoiled experience? Did you not want to be surprised by extra requirements (IE: wiki read/quest helper) but you're not okay with this? Like I'm thinking some one off reason why what he's presenting is a problem (not a problem I don't consider important, but like if it even qualifies as a problem/if this is negative). It's not deep in the slightest, it's a runescape quest, albeit recipie for disaster was posed to be a culmination of the early-mid player experience and as rewarding as such.
It does make sense though about these quests being introductions to mechanics in the quests but the QP thing allows you to finish the majority of the quest and focus on your account (tearing at reqs. piece by piece no matter what it throws at you) to finish it.
Also Twitter is a horrible place.
Definitely some pasta. I think it comes down to "is OP's opinion valid?" And IMO it is
Like, OP is just annoyed at a poorly thought out piece of content / scenario. That's valid
Yeah, you can definitely say "you should have looked up the wiki, what is your purpose?" but in this case it's not like the solution is harming anyone else at all
The wiki is already somewhat integrated into the game to look up information though. The button by minimap exists as a link. I think there is a functionality to even use it to click on stuff in game to then bring up the relevant wiki page
That’s the thing though. Taking away being told what to do, there can be better ways of communicating that those reqs were needed. Albeit the quest log itself isn’t always straightforward since the premise of it is to give us a sense of direction rather than the path itself. (Peeking in the door to see said related boss before entering as an example). The issue isn’t really about being stunted from not using the wiki but wanting to omit information but expect the omitted information exactly as they would have needed to know but just from the quest log. Like breaking it down it’s all just text and reading said text so unless you’re asking for a way to present the quest reqs in a more meaningful way then just asking for wiki information then it turns to pasta
And, respectfully. I really dislike that way of explaining stuff where someone’s gotta be on that “defensive “ or like be battling something
It always ends up disingenuous
OP definitely did not present a "solution" with a what & why section
It is a bad post
It belongs on Facebook
Most of the suggestions here are badly put together ideas that someone decided to post after only a few minutes of thought. The explanaton post of what your suggestion should have is usually ignored unfortunately
However, just because a post is badly worded or organized, doesnt mean there cant be a good idea in there somewhere to be fair.
I’ve learned that there may need to be some kind of hint for the culinaromancer door too see what’s next. That’s about it
^dont complain if ur choosing to play in a way that limits urself
idk how u could really spoil urself from just looking at quest reqs to begin with
People have pretty valid arguments, and this is a public platform for discussion so it is not fair to tell others to go away if they do not agree with you
If you feel someone is being toxic and detrimental to your thread, you can report it to modmail instead of starting up an argument that derails the topic a bit
I'm talking about the portal, not the door. I've completed all the characters at the table. I need to go through the portal, and all I'm asking is for the quest of to be updated. I'm fine with clicking on the portal and learning "oh shoot", now I need 175 quest points, DT1 and horror from the deep to fight the culinaromancer, just like I learned with each of the other guests at the table when I clicked on them, but I'm not. My quest log hasn't even updated to show that I needed 175 quest points (and achieved them), or that I needed to complete horror from the deep (and completed it). It's reading the same as it did when I finished all of the guests at the table.
Thank you, but I think there's a difference between a valid argument and someone telling me to, in essence, suck it up, because it's how we did it, and you are stupid for not using the wiki and then expecting jagex to update their quest logs consistently.
Moderation aside - you're talking about a self imposed limitation for no outside information on an MMO where even back in the the day before wiki people used to gather information from other players for completions
RFD is known for having several pre-reqs, should look into it or you'll have a long frustrating road ahead, as you experienced
OMG... I'm at the end of the quest. I already did the whole table. I really wish people would stop criticizing my desire to not have spoilers and focus on what I'm saying about the quest log. It hasn't updated. At all. Since I finished the last dude at the table. I'm fine with all those requirements and working through them. My concern is that the requirements for going through the portal to defeat the culinaromancer at the very end is not being updated in my quest log.
Up to this point with Jagex, if I walked away from a quest, I could come back, look at the log and pick up where I left off, whether it be with quest progress or pre-req progress. RFD did the same, for all 8 characters, but has stopped doing that trying to meet the prereqs for the culinaromancer.
You also are not understanding the suggestion... jfc!
It's people thinking I'm complaining about all the requirements to defeat the guys at the table not being listed before I start the quest, because I guess that's what frustrated them when they played? I'm not concerned with that at all. I clicked on each of them and could track in the quest log what I needed to have done before I did that part of the quest. I'm not able to track the pre-reqs for the culinaromancer portal.
imo youre both just creating your own problems
jagex has enough actual quality of life to worry about, before wasting time on a self-imposed limitation because youre scared of the wiki
Given no one else did either, possibly not explaining it well
Mainly sounds like a complaint being generated by a self-imposed gameplay limitation so people are giving feedback towards that
and rather than accept that people dont agree with you, you insist that we are trolls, or we dont listen etc
"Scared of the wiki". Let me guess... you all for all the hints playing escape rooms?
the point i am making is that you are clearly asking for more help from jagex via the quest log - i.e. you want an easier quest run. But at the same time, refuse to use the wiki, which has exactly the information you're asking for
the inconsistency is wild
No. I don't think it's inconsistent. I click on the characer, I'm told what I need to do before helping the character. Awesome. Learn as I go. But I click on the culinaromancer portal at the end, and nothing. No quest log update.
its entirely inconsistent and thus far, everyone who has read this thread agrees
i suggest you consider that you may be alone in your thinking
Oh is it already ad hominem time?
Pretty sure there are a couple above who understand the problem and shed that it was a valid request for consistency
If a more detailed quest log is what you're asking for, you should focus on that in this thread, and less focus on your self-imposed playstyle, because the information is out there for everyone
You would likely have gotten more accurate feedback
havent seen any yet
No, that's exactly what he's criticizing me for. I don't want hints or instructions on how to complete the quest
Due to past ironman focus by the dev team taking too much of their dev time, limited account builds aren't exactly too welcomed in the community nowadays sadly
I'm seeing that.
you are absolutely asking for hints... your entire thread is a complaint that you were not told earlier that you needed DT1
No I'm not asking that! I'm saying I want the quest log updated just like it was for each of the characters around the table.
I find it very difficult to understand how you differentiate between knowing the requirements because of the wiki or knowing the requirements because of the quest log - its the same thing
you want to know earlier
So every other Quest on the game gives you the requirements but not the last part of RFD? How does this comment make any sense?
Exactly
its multiple quests in one
and you get the reqs for each as you progress
so its working entirely as intended
Exactly
I've seen twi:crab said it was silly that it wasn't in the quest log and hubatish said it was a valid concern.
So the last part Does not give you the Req!
it does lmao
How is that hard to understand?!
One by one.. not like the other parts or quests.
Which state all req needed.
Thus resulting in frustration
There are 3 reqs that I can tell so far, and there is no update to the quest log saying my progress or that they even exist
dear god i cba talking about this
Then leave.
dont play a silly restricted format and then whine about how its making you less effective
such a meme
🤦‍♂️
Wow, this community really sucks.
Yup.
Reminder that everyone should remain civil with constructive commente
Being able to share screenshots of the problem would have helped. People keep criticizing me for not knowing what is needed to complete the whole quest up front, which is not what my suggestion is about at all. The quest log after reviving all the characters at the table isn't updating, and I'm not getting prerequisite status for the portal to finally defeat the culinaromancer. Every other quest and sub-quest tells you what needs to be done to continue and cross them off for you to track your progress. This quest has stopped tracking.
The quest log has not, and still isn't tracking completion of those prerequisites. It says I'm ready to defeat the culinaromancer, which I am not.
more seriously did you report this as a bug ingame
Thank you so much for your constructive criticism.
New accounts can make use of image host sites like imgur for example, just FYI
I wasn't sure that it was a bug, since I can play the game. Just is not in line with how Jagex organized the rest of the quest log, and makes it difficult to walk away from the game and pick up later from where I left off.
id say its a minor bug and its not like theres a penalty for reporting stuff which isnt actually a bug
and the chances that anyone at jagex sees it are significantly higher that way
it is not a bug
Will I have to go through all of this shit again, or are they more receptive to feedback in that channel?
its literally just a bug report form
NO. one small favor updated the log as I progressed.
There is no direct feedback from bug reports, only difference is that it goes directly to jagex instead of the community
so there wont be a response except maybe a line "- Fixed RFD quest log not mentioning some requirements" in an update 6 months from now if youre lucky
Again, you are assuming that my frustration is with the endless requirements. It's not. It's the updating of the quest log once those requirements are announced, and listing pre-reqs when the quest cannot proceed.
again you assume that i think something i dont
Then how is it like one small favor? One small favor updated its quest log. Tell me, please.
🤦‍♂️
@heady hollow can you view this? https://imgur.com/a/xOmply4
Wording can probably be better ye
Yes, it's fine.
Please provide your suggested edits
Tells you to jump into the portal for the fight basically, yet when you do it mentions quest requirements
They can just add the requirements prior that step onto the log
Are you not able to read the description?
Now you're just being sassy, I've read and given you input
Or they can add the requirements after I click on the portal, just like they add requirements for all other quests when you find out about them.
No, I'm being serious. I've never used imgur, and wasn't sure if you could see my description.
It's pretty clear imo.
Gotcha, yes imgur works
It's clear, just not in the right order
I don't find it a serious issue due to many reasons mentioned already by others too
But having the information given in the right order can't hurt
Again, I'm not trying to report a serious issue. Pretty sure most of the items in this suggestion channel aren't serious.
This is a suggestion..
It just really pissed me off due to the timing
Updated with recommendations.
Id like to delete this suggestion, as crab said he thinks it's a bug and bugs aren't supposed to be communicated here. First and last time I will use this channel.
I can close the thread if you want
Yes. The horse has been beaten to death, and I've learned what kind of response to expect from this community.
