#Bottomless Well: new highscores and item/gp sink

Upon your next visit to the Grand Exchange, you see Brugsen Bursen is a little distressed. There are also a few builder contractors around, building a well around a mysterious big hole that emerged from the ground.

player: Hi Brugsen, what is going on here?
Brugsen: Hi player, it's sort of a hard one to explain! While making the balances of the Bank, a loud rumble was heard, the bankers rushed outside, and saw this hole appeared! The ground must have collapsed. We immediately hired some contractors to make a safe wall around it untill we know what to do further.
Player: that seems very odd! Do we know where the hole leads to?
Brugsen: No, we havent send anyone down there, it looks quiet unstable and dangerous!
Player: What if we drop a coin in and listen for it to reach the bottom?
Brugsen: thats not a bad idea, I got a single coin here

  • Brugsen drops in the coin as you both listen carefully*
    Player: ....
    Brugsen: ....
    Coin: ....
    A Mythrandir: it never seems to end!
    Brugsen: yes, it seems so! How odd. But you know, maybe we can fill it up! Tell you what, for each Coin or item that you throw in here, maybe someday it will fill up. In the meantime, I'll keep a list and track what has been thrown into the Well. Perhaps you can become prestigious!
    Player: Ehh, im not to sure if I'd be willing to part with some valuables! But yes, maybe there are a few things I can be willing to part of.
    GAME MESSAGE: The bottomless Well instantly deletes any item thrown into it, in return for its GP value you get points on a new highscore rank.

The Bottomless Well will be a new feature at the GE. Players can throw in any item or gp, and get points equal to the value of the item at that time. This will be added to a new highscore rank, as well Jagex will keep a total list/gp value of what gets thrown in.

This will be an instant item/gp sink and I am sure players will try to be prestigous and get rank 1, and thus providing a healthier economy!

Obviously the Well will have a warning message and a double 'check to be sure' option before you throw your spare buckets, gems or Bandos tassets in!

Did someone go look in our backlog at one of my old designs or something?

I pitched the idea of a Philantropic hiscores a few years back.

This is kind of hilarious. I love how it's just a totally meaningless sink, but would almost certainly be very effective. Perhaps the sunk gp could go towards the GE item-purchasing feature, as with the GE tax. 🤔

I think we also planned for various community events for unlocks based on if donation goals are hit.

Unfortunately you cant tie anything like this to charity initiatives though.

Aw, I dont have twitter. Is twitter the main mode of contact? Do the Jmods still ever check the runescape forums for idea pitches?

That would be entirely up to them, Twitter is generally the best form of media to do it on though.
