#Shamanism/Taming

my brother in christ all they've pitched is the general ideas, training methods come after the lock in
Do you want to be a beastmaster in osrs? Then taming is what you want and how you train taming comes at a later date
I don't see potential for Taming to be a skill with a good variety of training methods or interactions beyond having an interactive perk pet.
Shamanism seems to be the opposite case where it has a lot of good potential for leveling but the benefits at the top seem forced.
I like them both, but they seem like a ying-yang pair to me.
Again hombre, it's not about the training, it's about the payoff at this moment
Do you want to be a beastmaster, a commander or a master of the spiritual arts?
The only limit to what Taming can be is your own imagination 😅
You could have pets that can:
• Pick up loot from the ground
• Bury bones and scatter ashes
• Take items to and from the bank
• Heal you at critical health
• Poison enemies
• Bind enemies
• Consume fish, crops, and logs while you are fishing, farming, or woodcutting
• Help you navigate obstacles and shortcuts
• Take you to fast travel locations
• Randomly bring you treasure they find, including clue scrolls
• Distract guards while you pickpocket, or even pickpocket NPCs themselves
• Herd critters towards your traps while training Hunter
• Alert you to hidden secrets, like truffles, buried treasures, invisible spirits, etc.
• Pull you underwater at full speed or find pufferfish for you to use for oxygen
In fact, if anything, I would say the inverse of your original statement is true. I think Taming has much more potential as a wider and more varied skill than Shamanism. I would say the biggest issue with Shamanism as its been presented is the fact that it is so limited and narrow in scope, both in terms of training and in rewards. 🤔
Shamanism payoff was intended to be the augments
Similarly how hunters payoff is the aoe ranged weapon, shamanism's would be upgrading gear
put it this way , with every different type of animal/creature , creates a whole new potential training loop
shaminism right now sounds like farming+herblore part 2 but you get to go to puro puro
What aoe range weapon is hinters payoff?

Maybe they can incorporate some sort of companion system with shamanism. Maybe call it "Spirit Companion"
One use could be having the spirit companion store shaman items because needing extra space for temp buffs might be annoying (only shaman items). Maybe even adding a way to incorporate pets with spirit companions by having a way to turn pets into spirit companions by having a way to turn the pets into spirit versions. Adding a spirit companion can solve the inv space issue and it can finally give some sort of use to pets.
They have stated in Q&A's that they don't have plans to incorporate any of the new skills into content expansions or other skills
If you want animal companions more than you want the other two things, vote Taming
All of the initial skill pitches were only released in small detail. @random hollow I wonder if you've seen the mods' Q&A session about the skills? To see the passion the 4 mods had for EACH skill, including taming, was absolutely affirming.
