#NMZ Rework Suggestion.

I saw someone suggest that NMZ should move to lunar isle as it's more thematic and i 100% agree, they also talked about how the models used and what not look like they came out of a private server i also 100% agree.

But it got me thinking about the core gameplay of NMZ, it's just pure afk combat training while offering pretty max melee xp / hr. I think that there's an opportunity to make nmz more engaging and rewarding.

So what if you could replay through mechanical boss fights like, night at the theatre (TOB bosses), the jormungand (frem exiles), galvek, vorkath etc etc and be rewarded nmz points that let you exchange them for combat xp. you can balance the combat xp / hr by how many points each boss would give. You can still have less mechanical or non mechanic bosses as options but would give way less points due to them being less intensive / can afk them.

I believe this would give you a more dimentional way to focus on combat xp that isn't just afk at nmz or crabs. Also the max melee xp / hr should be greater than what you can currently get at NMZ, it makes sense ofcourse why shouldn't mechanical intensive fights where you don't get any drops not be greater xp than afk for 20 mins 0 effort.

Range and mage have very high xp / hr methods, allbeit they require a lot of money to train that fast, however being pretty afk. Melee would instead have a high xp / hr method but instead of the cost being high cost it would be high intensity you would be paying.

Lastly i just think this would be a very fun way to replay fun quest boss fights in the game and just mix up combat training, you might find it also increases the skill of the average player as they can replay quest bosses and fights for no penalty as the only potential reward would be xp.

Let me know your thoughts below this is my first osrs thread.

The points earned from the new NMZ would only be tradeable in for combat xp and to imbue(or not i don't mind). You would not gain any monster drops or be able to trade in the points for montetary gain as this would defeat the purpose of it being a combat training minigame!

It would also make sense that things like overload potions, absorb potions and other things are removed from the NMZ reward shop (imbues could stay potentially if agreed on).

Balancing Points; it would obviously require quite a lot of balancing but the difficulty and time taken for each boss would have to impact how many points are given as it wouldn't make sense if a faster to kill or less mechanical boss would give more points / hr than a much more difficult and demanding boss. There could also be a "Cooldown" for individual boss so that spamming one single fight isn't meta as that's a bit stale this is debatable though.

People play this game for different reasons, I like that NMZ offers an easy AFK option.

Personally, I maxed all combat stats at NMZ on one of my accounts.
If it wasn't for NMZ, I wouldn't have invested the time required to play OSRS.
99 just takes so many hours...

I play strictly for PvP, so I'm all for having multiple different methods of leveling combat stats so different players can find an option that works for them and is enjoyable.

The new Bounty Hunter combat XP rewards seems like a great option for me, I wouldn't of minded something like that with LMS too. Just so I could focus on PvP, yet still level my combat stats.

What would be the difference between just doing the normal boss?

quasi phoenix
#

could easily have 2 different NMZ modes 1 like current boss select and then endless mode

#

where u don't earn any NMZ pts

#

and then the expansion mode which would offer u the harder more mechanical options and points which could be tradable for xp

quasi phoenix
#

the NMZ rework would offer no monetary gain but just be purely for combat xp / hr, fun, mechanic practise

#

would just be a 3rd primary type of melee training specifically

#
  1. full afk NMZ/ crabs currently. 2. pvmin for mainly loot + some xp. and 3. more skillful and attentive xp focused training for best xp rates / hr for melee
#

just adds a bit more diversity to how people can choose to train their combat stats( mainly melee related)

#

also just adds more depth to NMZ because currently people just fight the same small pool of bosses because the ones with mechanics / higher stats just aren't worth killing

#

the reason for points would be you could balance the points given per boss so that it's not about the actual dps u do in NMZ specifically

#

and the harder bosses / that take longer would be worth more pts to be able to have a sort of scaling melee xp / hr

#

and yeah i was thinking that it would be the chin / barrage for melee

#

chin / barrage downside is the expensive cost, melee's expensive cost would be the higher skill / attentiveness required

#

apposed to the AFK methods mage/range/melee currently has

#

would also not allow absorbtion pots in the new nmz ofc

#

i just think that it would be a lot more fun if you could train your melees with fun and mechanical boss fights at very respectable xp / hr deserving of your time

#

than to just full afk till 99s

Playing the first few rounds of endurance mode getting enough points for absorption potions feels like a fight cave analog the devs may have originally been going for.

#

Remove absorption potions & melee-only no mechanics bosses, add some tougher fights or preset boss combos & that mode could be interesting. Even for like a cosmetic "all bosses endurance run complete" style reward

#

As evidenced with my minigame Rework proposal, I'm all in favor of Bounty Hunter (& other existing minigames) giving combat XP to provide more alternative ways to train though

People who cite the "lore" as the reason NMZ should move to Lunar Island immediately out themselves as not knowing anything about the lore.

At most it should be moved into a new or existing building in Yanille. That would fit in lore and make the most sense.

For me, the problems with NMZ revolve around the freedom to choose weak bosses, sip powerful potions, and repeat ad nauseum. It offers extremely powerful and valuable rewards, but for literally zero effort. I've said it before, but a traditional boss rush, where the player fights a long series of bosses in a set order, is a classic and very fun activity in all manner of RPGs.

If it was done more like a raid, where you take in whatever gear you need and move from room to room with regular checkpoints and rest stops, with a time trial and combat achievements, it would be an incredibly fun activity that would still be challenging enough to make the rewards justified.

#

To accomodate for future bosses without ruining old records, there could be different 'sets' of bosses from quests spanning specific years. So set 1 could include the bosses spanning from 2001-2007 for example. 🤔

I would rather see them just add in new afk combat training methods in the overworld that aren't tied to such OP account upgrades and passive income. 🤷‍♂️

#

The reason NMZ is so overwhelmingly OP is because it's got everything—BiS combat training; BiS gear upgrades; extremely profitable. Even if it was only 2/3 of those things it would be OP.

and you can only claim like 150k per day

you couldnt even fund a bond with it

Delete nmz and remove imbues as a concept

#

(Only half joking)

Nmz is kind of a necessary evil considering how ridiculously long and important levelling combat takes (especially melee... It's 3 in one it's hell) as of moving it I don't really see the point of doing that tbh

#

A shitton of ppl are uber against training modes for stuff like raids so I doubt that'd go well tbh kekw But meh nmz has it's purpose and that's fine

#
  • scurrius is here now which is active makes you some decent pocket money and has absolutely ridiculous xp

Unironically I do think from the perspective of “Should this be released today if it didn’t exist?” NMZ is undoubtedly unneeded content, especially since we already have things like crabs.

If anything NMZ probably hurts the game more than helps it because people will sit in it for tens of hours on end instead of actually engaging with the game and progressing their account.

Scurrius is basically the solution to combat training that fits much better than NMZ. If you want good combat xp, it should require effort, not just heehee grab overload and hit low defense bosses with infinite hp

Tbh scurrius is flat out better XP in most cases at least + you make some money

#

Crabs are just ass in general past the early lvls

#

And melee just takes extremely stupidly long for anyone with a life

Honestly it'd be cool if they redid Nightmare Zone to be more like the Arena from Kirby, or the Pantheon of Hollownest from Hollow Knight. Just one big epic boss rush with limited supply restocks between fights.

#

In Runescape terms it'd be more like Fortis Coliseum but every wave is a boss and the arena changes to match the boss.

I don't play RS3 so I wouldn't know the specific details

Hold on lemme find the wiki entry

#

I did it a little bit and it was neat but I dropped RS3 a long time ago

Dominion tower

Was added in late RS2

And was later updated

analog cypress
#

Ooh, yeah something like this

#

Put it on Lunar Isle and make the reward for clearing it on hard mode a new mage cape

gilded frost
#

There are a lot of things to dislike about RS3 but I genuinely believe that using OSRS as a second chance to improve upon and reengineer the poorly received systems while keeping what works is invaluable

Moving nmz to lunar Isle would only serve to lock a good training method behind a bunch of quests. Better to keep it where it is.

maybe a theme change but not a location change
