the GE in Priff killed the overworld of the game for a very very long time until they forced people back into the GE for many things.
Newer players wouldn't see experienced players and mix with them, learning stuff making friends etc.

That's 100% understandable. i haven't played RS3 in along time but i do remember high levels using both Varrock and Priff GE's that must of been after that fix to spread out the community interaction that you mentioned.
