#Bots taking over rs

its just a never ending cycle id imagine jagex bans bots but for every bot they ban another one pops up
regardless i try to keep my mindset that they are always at risk of losing their accounts/wealth at some point for cheating
Dealing with the bot problem has been an issue for a very long time now -- Bots have become such a huge problem that every new update has to have some kind of way to make it harder to be botted out.
nowdays bots are WAY more advanced with even AI bots existing it has become drasticly more difficult to detect these bots i imagine. also these spammer bots or the bots you see alot are suicide bots which dont even hide the fact they are bots, however jagex cannot instantly ban them because then it'll become obvious WHAT exactly is getting them banned and its then trail and error to create a bot that avoids those flags that are being used
And older content that is too accessible has to be reworked
botting is like cybersecurity. It's a neverending game of cat and mouse. Detection improves - botting improves. Repeat
The bots have ruined LMS for me, they're very good at pvp and not fun to fight against due to the lack of variety etc.
To be honest, the real reason we have bots is mostly because we do have players who buy GP consistently. There is a real market outside the game, and if the bot farm owners didn't receive cash for their botted GP we wouldn't have that many bots.
a lot of players use bots purely to get their levels up without playing.
I imagine tackling bots is a lot easier said than done. For every bot Jagex bans, there are probably several more that pops up. On top of that, bots are constantly evolving, so what worked against them today may no longer work tomorrow.
I don’t think there’s a lasting/consistent solution for bots unless Jagex can go after bot farms with CIA-level impunity.
Phone number validation on making new accounts
Google Phone, burner phones, etc.
Requiring phone validation may make the process a little slower, but not impossible to get around.
Thank you for your responses and your thoughtfulness
If I read it correctly and understand it correctly, it's just a cat and mouse game
only I wonder to what extent jagex is doing enough about this when I just look at the webpage they just posted an update
about advertising bots rwt and even more chances to play and so I could go on
what i do see and hear and correct me if i'm not right is that jagex is way too soft with everything that thousands of players drop out
I can't take the view that they're soft on botting, it's way more believable to me that something's holding them back from eliminating the problem. It's also not a topic they can show their hand on a lot, just because every time they do that it has a security impact. The best we can do is ask and be patient, unfortunately
ye this isnt a big issue tho
You would be pleasantly surprised on the number of bots Jagex bans on a regular basis.
The bot problem isn’t the greatest - but nowhere near where it used to be when I played as a kid.
In an ideal world, no bots would be fantastic.
i agree with ya
This discussion & the question of "how might botting be stopped for good?" inspired me to write this suggestion about trade limits:
