#Lower Masori's weight

Masori armor is one of the heaviest sets in the game, weighing more than double of Armadyl and almost the same as Torva. This added weight is showing a big hindrance at CMs where we don't get fully healed after every boss and stamina management is a big part of the raid.

Armadyl Set Helm:0.5 Top:4 Legs:1
Torva Set Helm:2 Top:9.5 Legs:9
Masori Set Helm:1 Top:8 Legs:7
Masori F Set Helm:1.5 Top:10 Legs:8.5

New Masori Helm:1 Top:5 Legs:1.5
New MasoriF Helm:1.5 Top:5.5 Legs:2

For reference: Walking into a CM with my max duo gear my weigh went from 58kg to 72.
Vespula it went from 48 to 62, forcing an extra sip of stamina if low rolling.
Olm it went from 51 to 65, requiring 1-2 extra sips depending on fight length.
I've been doing 30 CM duos per week consistently for the past 5 months except on the week of ToA release and the only gear Ive changed since then were the ToA items, kills are faster but the stamina drain is insanely higher because of Masori.
PS: Ahrim legs need a weight reduction too!

simple solution would just be to introduce a new stam potion into the raid ( weak, standard, strong).
or even a stamina enhance pot that increases it the same way a prayer enhance does

#

and have it be dropped by the rooms that don't currently drop potions ( shamans, ice demon , tightrope)

#

if these rooms dropped anti poison + stams , then any concerns about weight become less relevant

#

yeah i only have stamina issues when learning , where i needed to bring 3 into the raid for learning solos

#

weight has never been a factor , just not being efficient

Honestly while weight doesn't effect the stats of gear, one of the most noticable parts i noticed upgrading from ancient dhide to armadyl at Nex was the reduced weight allowed me to cut a slot dedicated for a stamina into another slot for a brew in smaller non mass teams.

It's definitely true that the weight isn't a make or break for a item over it's stats. But for bis gear and in forms of content where space is often limited. I feel like making the higher end gear more desirable in terms might also help increase appeal. (even however limited).

But raw power creep can be dangerous or if done too extremely be a You have to Be Rich to get Richerkind of scenario. Doing a qol change like reducing masori weight in a poll or tweak doesn't sound that bad to me.

I'd be up for it, it would make masori more desirable, however slightly but it wouldn't make or break the game for me either.

It's the same added weight as ahrim bottoms over other magic legwear

I mean yeah fair, smaller teams always make the run energy more efficient, and there are definitely ways to cope with it. Just for a style like melee, you expect the gear to be bulky and heavy. You're often standing still, while for range there often tends to be more benefit from being able to kite, reach bosses with higher movement vs immobile turrets, etc. It wouldn't be raw powercreep (which can easily be bad for the game on a already strong item), but just qol to have a 60-300m piece of gear match the weight of a 8-30m one.

not even cost wise since agility is a combat skill in osrs, heavy gear is a downgrade

#

Actually until like 10 mins ago I had forgotten ahrim bottoms were another cement mixer

#

lemme add to the topic

I mean ngl you are true there are good ways to deal with it and good counterpoints. But it kinda feels like a old "it should be that way since it ALWAYS was that way" kinda of deal. Like "runecrafting should be that way, since it ALWAYS was that way" kinda deal.

For some points, 2007 runecrafting sucking for vs being a cooking tier skill like rs3 100k-200/hr afk runespan could be seen as a virtue for 07scape. "We haven't devalued rc yet, play us!" kinda deal. But also at the same time, you hardly found anyone who was like "Yay! Rc is my favorite skill because of how much carpal tunnel i get doing lavas. I wish they added more skills that were click intensive and so miserable exciting!".

Hard rc had it's time, but when they added the rc minigame, a fair amount of people were happy enough for rc to move on while it could have easily failed a poll earlier on or previously afk methods like zeah bloods locked to post 77 rc content.

But for old rc, the suffering was completely optional. You kind of opted into the content and not wanting to train it and trained it because you wanted to.

For masori vs armadyl though. You don't get a toggle for weight on vs weight off. It's literally a scenario you pay more for stronger armor to weight more for something you might have to consider 300-700m to buy on a more budget limited account.

Run energy limitations has often been a popularly scrappy/unliked when missing field. Most people enjoy rs with more energy, not less. Before staminas and graceful were added, it's was a common complaint sitting around all the time waiting for energy to regen was boring vs running 24/7.

Run energy limitations aren't that major, but it generally isn't seen as a popularly enjoyed drawback.

If you reduce weight, more people might spend time in the game doing the seen as "fun" stuff. (kiting, running, movement), if you don't, i guess walking speed records would 'preserve' higher value for gear only 1 month old, (i guess?)

Yeah fair fair. Stats are always king and there are good ways to deal with it as pointed out, thanks. But yeah. Weight isn't the most unmanageable thing in runescape.

But you'd be hard pressed to find a person who's favorite activity in runescape was being 0/100 run energy vs a person with unless maybe with lol.

Most players seem to prefer to do stuff faster, and running faster, moving places faster, seems more enjoyable to them. Masori's weight definitely isn't a major dealbreaker, it has premium stats without the melee tax of armadyl but powerful magic defense, making it highly desireable for fang nex and incredible magic defense.

I can kinda see the povs of how there are ways to deal with it, but i kinda think that even however minor, making the weight of masori being roughly 4x higher than it's predecessor armadyl (20 kg vs 5.5 kg), would be like having torva(20.5 kg) going to 88 kg just to match the weight increase vs bandos + faceguard(22.7 kg).

It wouldn't change the gear from being best in slot, or wonderful stats lmao. But it'd definitely be a pretty anti qol thing to go from 1x the weight to 4x the weight.

(I guess at least Masori vs armadyl is only a +15.5 kg change for a x4 weight vs 60 kg. but it does seem a odd inconsistency for a style where run energy is often more relevant, haha. )

Specially since the weight difference from bandos/faceguard to torva is around the same

#

so why does one bis doesnt weigh as much as a cement mixer but the other does?

hidden flax
#

Do you reckon people would avoid 80 kg torva though?

#

I guess it'd be the bis always technically and holy glory, those stats are always to kill for melee. But would you put on gear that completely drained your run energy in 5 steps if it gave a +1 max hit change on your +50-80s?

ivory monolith
#

It's not like we have a choice on which gear to use, Masori is the best and its here to stay but the weight is making old strategies not work because it's way over the top

#

hey if it gave enough raw damage everything would die before the run energy cost would matter I wouldnt be here

#

But it's not doubling my deeps

It's a video game tho, mobility is fun, being slooow, not as esports pogger moments tho. Are ways to deal with it, but have you ever been in a moment and went. 'man! I sure wish i ran out of run energy, so i could make that content more exciting by slowly walking around it! it would have added to the game!", idk.

If lowering masori's weight has any momentum, it probably has it during the first month or year, then probably people will have time to forget or get used to it. Maybe it's just arma being freakishly light. Still fun chatting with y'all haha
