I used to live out in the country, and one day when me and my family were out to dinner, a truck had parked next to our car with a cage in the back. People hunt and trap animals out here all the time, and I was curious, so I went to look thinking I’d see some kind of raccoon or badger.

Mind you, this is in early March in the middle of winter. It’s below freezing outside. When I looked into the cage, all I saw was a singular tiny little puppy curled up in the corner shivering. No bedding. No cover. No hay or anything. There wasn’t even a plastic pan on the bottom of the cage, so he was just laying on metal bars.

I couldn’t leave him in there to freeze and get nerve damage, so I got in there and I took him.
