wilderness bosses are 5-6m gp/h with 3-4 items and pkers interrupting you. A lot higher possible but means either risking some items or no pkers lowering kills/h

The issue is balancing around risk. Design the bosses to require raid gear, and they require too much risk (and too little makes it not worth doing)

And the fact that escape caves have gone untouched since their release just tells me they gave up on the Wildy cuz literally nobody likes them

The ideal solution would just be an xp block. That's what I did for my game. If the player doesn't want xp in a stat, let them. Simple. Keeps them happy.

The actual biggest flaw with sailing is that the only real reward is what frost dragons and a new astral method, a few clue teles?
The fish are good too
But yeah it needs more rewards that benefit the rest of the game
But that'll happen with updates so I'm not worried very much about sailing
Oh yeah i forgot about the fish and arma brews. Argueably the biggest meta shift
Good fish, teleport to any dock in the game, and some new training methods
sailing will basically never have anything you can kill for 10m gp/h which would make it worth it for mains to farm
Iām less āworriedā about it and more mad they used all that time to create such meh content lol
I think that it's the best skill when it comes to fun training methods
My bar for content is like 5mph
If I disregarded the rewards any skill gives me than I'd probably say sailing is my favorite skill
So once it's more beneficial to your account it'll be pretty dope
something fun to farm with a cool hat or something would be just as fine though.

Tbh high key sailing is one of the worst skill releases I ever played and Iāve played them all pre eoc lol
Itās not the worst because it didnāt make any new mistakes or anything and it did some stuff really well but
Many skills released with far more of a real point and place within the game immediately
They gave us the groundwork for a skill that might be good but we havenāt actually had them deliver on it yet and show us it actually does become a part of the game that matters
The main issue people find with sailing is that it didnt bring any bis end game gear that isnt boat upgrades
why would it
Thatās kind of the point but not exactly
Itās supposed to bring something you actively care about to the game
So with sailing thatās inevitably islands and places to go that are a big deal
most arguments on sailing release came down to why do it when it only unlocks more sailing stuff and mid game content
So that you actually want to level sailing and associated skills to reap the benefits of participating
But they donāt have that part implemented
So we have the systems of how youād do that but we donāt have a reason to do it
u could ask that question about a lot of skills, especially on a main
Most skills didnāt immediately fall into that trap but some did
Thatās why sailing isnāt the worst but itās definitely not the best either
to which i will say, i expect integration to come after the initial release, not right away
Not to scare people either but most skills that did start that way are still that way today
Stuff like firemaking or hunter kinda never went anywhere
They did at least try with hunter and the guild recently though
Then you get the complete opposite releases like farming for example or con
Where they just dropped with a reason to do them right out of the gate that was immediately useful for everyone
farming with herbs as the single useful thing on it

Tying expansion to islands makes the expansion have almost nothing to do with sailing
You get a level then you stop caring about the fact it was remotely associated with sailing
And sailing is trivially easy to level
So much that you donāt even have to play the game to level it

I would not say thatās generally true
If you get 92 mining you still have to mine to get amethyst
If you get 95 fletching you still fletch to make dragon darts
All the Sailing island proposals require islands to have dedicated teleport/transport methods to get to them because itās inherently awful to try to tie Sailing to the island to part of the benefit of the island, especially with making bottled storms exist and suck to get
Since if getting to the island is part of the balance, the teleport to the island via boat tele just removes that factor entirely
And if you donāt have to sail to it, why tie it to Sailing at all
You've got to sail through dangerous waters just to find it my man
I get you though. Its weird to just kinda be done with a skill once you can teleport to any of the islands
Maybe if there was some sort of benefit to bringing a boatload of stuff to said island š¤
I would say the exploration aspect of Sailing is kinda bad tbh, especially if we look a lt like the random arbitrary schematic chests

Charting was neat and I actually enjoyed most of it

The mermaid puzzles were especially bad
With one of them literally requiring knowledge that doesnāt exist in OSRS
And is only based on an RS3 character
But just in general there are a lot of puzzles that have been made that I donāt feel are actual puzzles as much as, āCan I somehow think the exact way the creator was thinking for an extended time,ā and this was also how I felt about Garden of death
I got really into cryptic clues the last couple weeks so I think id find them fun now
Asking how to make a potion or enchanted ring or pie from scratch? Sure!
But when I did them yeah

they should be quite similar inq is probably better most of the time if you get an equal weapon for both but
they basically dont really make crush weapons
like for example if you compare full oathplate with the bis stuff like treads/ultor/infernal etc to inq with the same but with a bludgeon

caveat that you're looking at a whip with an avernic vs a bludgeon
so the inq is definitely picking up some slack
jagex generally just doesn't provide an equally statted crush weapon to compare though
if they are about the same dps then all that leaves is the glaring penalties that inq received for no apparent reason
(or buffs to oath, depending on which direction you're looking from)
ya inq is better ultimately its just that the available weapons with one massive exception hold it back
its not even close if you compare a salad blade in oathplate to a inq mace in inquisitor

also looking at the other values, dragon cannon has damage of 32... previously we could max hit of 45 with it... I assume that must be some base damage or with 1 sailing/minumn sailing level?

good changes in regards to cballs atleast but why is every sea area still multi? if you make one wrong move you get gangbanged by 5 vamp krakens and also prevents most tech in regards to movement because if you aren't careful you aggro a bunch more. kinda crazy this wasn't changed or even addressed
that does make way more sense! lol, looking at the values at the wiki it would be then indeed a buff to their strenght and I guess listing the strenght makes more sense than listing the new max hits since they are dependant of your sailing level so it would be less inconsistent with players sailing levels

i think the thing that stuck out to me most about the changes is that you guys described fighting npcs previously like this "However, by doing so we invalidated hard-earned gear progression and this resulted in sluggishly long fights." and then in the next paragraph said this "Rather than tweaking drop rates, we've balanced this around the hitpoints of Sea NPC Monsters so that they will take a similar time to kill, which will keep kills per hour roughly the same."

Here's a new enemy that makes them feel how they used too incase you miss it xD
Erm sailing combat is bugged. Cant pick up the sharks killed. Wont pass through the rocks at the safespot.
the part about it that makes me laugh is the heavy range weakness
i mean tbh seems like a bug that it passed through rocks in the first place, but you can just telegrab it now

Try using telegrab or moving the boat closer. This is intended behaviour as we did not feel that sharks should be able to move through rocks and be lootable from very far away. However, we understand this might feel worse so I'm happy to pass this on as feedback to see if we should change it!
it's consistent with the rest of the game, you kill something behind a barrier, you can telegrab to grab it through that barrier

Iām a bit confused, does this update mean that crew fired cannon balls do less damage now? The table says 26 strength from crew mate for rune dragon balls vs 201 from the player⦠or did they mistakenly mislabel the table and swapped ranged strength and accuracy?

This update absolutely ruined ship combat for skillers. They doubled enemy health but best we can use is 1 dragon cannon and 1 steel cannon (crewmate limitation).
