honestly i think that efficiently charting while you do port tasks would probably easily be the highest effort thing you could do with sailing because that's extremely complicated
lol
you think im kidding but its the travelling saleman problem
the funny thing is you couldn't even preplan it either because you dont know which port task will be there
idk what to tell you if you think charting stuff along the way of doing port tasks is that high effort in reality
you can't even do port tasks 100% efficiently because you're not always going to get the best tasks, i don't think a single person is concerned with efficiently grabbing charting tasks that are along the way, like it actually matters in any meaningful way if you chart something on the way from X to Y instead of X to Z
since you only have to chart something once
friend of mine spawned in abbyssssss???
and?
ive heard of this one but not sure if there's any practical use for someone who wants to avoid entering the wilderness
since the temple of the eye quest already has a one time tp into the abyss
i think something needs to be done about the cannoning ospreys
idk what but this is ridiculous
I do think 100k might be a liiiitle low for the top end bonus
But can you get to the abyss without ever doing the abyss miniquest using this?
the ship combat is rough, you can place cannons on both sides but even large NPCs you have to literally the jiggle the ship around so both fire and even with that, some bounty tasks take AGES like needing to get 5 spined kraken things '
it's not 100k top end tho
The charting bonus?
Full chart completion is 100k
That's what I meant
oh that, sorry thought you meant xp rates in general
Yeah nw
is there a way to see how full your cargo is without opening it
So the abyss visit is a feature, cool
You guys have problems with fps in Jibbly course?
- Entity hider should definitely add boats to hidden entities.
- Pieces of a boat should not trigger/have menu options unless you're on it. When you tag the basic storage it appears for every boat's basic storage.
Brother this Jibbly course is horrible
Laggy af
crates sometimes within range you get it and sometimes you dont, since is so laggy even if you are within range you can tag it with frogs until is too late
are you on hd117?
No
hmm not sure then, I do remember getting stupid lag with hd117
entity hider can already do that
is like the one tile while going to doom that drops the fps
You can drastically increase your reach with minor pivots of your boat for a moment. I didn’t personally have any issues with Jubbly but I hear it a lot
becaise is not pc performance
What tile
This is the first I’ve heard of that
when you go thru the last door to go to doom the next tile drops the fps the every time you pass on
is a minor thing cuz if you go back to the tile it doesnt happen
but if you go thru the door and back it does it
I’ve never noticed and I’ve been to doom tens to hundreds of times
is a subtle 1tick
I’ve missed multiple times because my tick health is hovering at 50%, the lag is horrible
ive resetted prolly like 100 times by now because i click on the outcrop and doesnt do anything sometimes it does from the same tiles
horrible and janky
agreed its hard to tell where you can actually hit the outcropf rom
besides barracudas what is the second best xp for sailing?
cuz tbh im frustrated with this jubbly shi course
When is the last time you closed your client
When is the last time you did that
im not the only one
Ight
Me here leaving
Me outside
see the fps
and during the course it drops to 30
is the only place thats happening so far
Id maybe just salvage then i guess but even 20 minute laps on marlin is better xp than large shipwrecks
Else i guess you go back to trials #1
ive heard a good port tasks method is aldarin/sunset coast to port roberts/relleka/etceteria
~100k xp an hour
Ooo damn
is there any way to re-roll port tasks? its annoying to try get the same location tasks
where can uim players give their feedback on the cargo hold
Is there not a deposit at every port already?
Current cargo hold feels extremely restrictive to the detriment of the actual gameplay experience, sometimes you can't even do multiple task at higher level because the cargo hold doesnt hold all the cargo (ironic), for example having 3+3+3 crates a camphor cargo hold wouldnt suffice which is just silly.
Further issues:
- repair kits count as single items, why? I didn't even use them to be honest since it was just much easier recovering a ship and going back to my bounty task with full hp
- salvage counts as single items, being extremely limited on what you can carry at a time or making crew salvaging night worthless since it becomes full so quick
- cargo also counts as single items for some reason, starting to see a recurring problem here
- even the stacks are very limiting, cannonballs cant really stack beyond 200 as far as i could tell now
How can we fix this?
- Cargo counts as a single item only per unique cargo (so 3 crates of the same cargo do not take up 3 spaces of cargo, but rather 1)
-- Multiple different varieties of cargo would still take up multiple items slots, so 2 different cargo varieties of 3 crates each would be 2 slots taken up in the hold - Repair kits and other items like salvage count as 1 item up to their stack limit of (whatever makes sense, 25 repair kits at max level is a full 'invent' of food)
- Salvage stacking up to a reasonable amount, wouldn't have to be the same amount mains get but 1 salvage = 1 slot really kills any incentive of having your crew salvage
- Cannonballs can stack higher, currently i've experienced i just keep them in inventory since 200 is not nearly enough for some tasks
Currently 64 sailing and ex-max uim, my 2cents i felt i had to write out. Would be nice if there were some channels for feedback, currently i just saw 'we're talking to UIM' but i havent heard any other high lvl uim talk about it (or even low lvl ones)
@vague viper @gilded granite (sorry for ping)
I understand the need for having a restriction on the cargo hold for uim, but having us basically be unable to do more than 2 courier tasks seems a bit ridiculous. If we were able to keep cargo on our person then it would be manageable but as it stands basically stuck doing 2 courier tasks at max is a bit of a buzzkill.
Strongly agree with the above points, the cargo hold might as well not exist in it's current state as it's basically too limited to be of any use. Given that the only items it can store are very specific sailing related items, i don't think it would be particularly harmful to open up the numbers a little to align maybe more with an inventory's worth of space at the high end (e.g. 28 slots at the highest tier, could easily be a 4 slot increase per tier of cargo hold instead of the current 1 and aligns with items such as the plank sack/log basket) or the better stacking options hoofi suggested
specially cuz the only good xp are narnia cargos
Not saying that cargos should be same xp as barracudas but i took a cargo from catherby to port pisc for like 1200 xp or something like that
took me like 10 mins to get there
xd
And I delivered one on the way
But if you could deliver several places probably wouldnt have felt worthless
exactly. it could have been like the travelling sailsman problem. but if there are only 1-2 viable port tasks per port anyway, you basically have no "choice" and you sail always the same routes
To be honest I like Cargo but is toooooooo slow, to the point where salvaging is even better trying to get seeds or maybe something else
guess i can only do one task at a time at the frem port with camphor cargo

ok yeah this is a joke
need some uim playtesters
i'm surprised you can't extend gryphons
I have a suggestion to add an anvil to the PoH workshop, would save me a headache if I need to quickly use one to make keel parts or what not. @delicate glen (not sure who would be the best to tag for this)
Jagex, I hate you
This is the 3rd hotfix of Sailing that y’all rugpulled

Let me slayer-sailing
are cannoins bugged i cant shoot and im getting the chat message you man the cannon and take aim\
how do i chart wreck north east of the wizard tower? both ways im getting blocked..
Hm i would double check game map. I feel like i was able to get around
Is there any way to increase Umbral Coral harvest lives beyond 2?
That's a bit ridiculous, since we can't compost it
Is it possible to move things you've built in your boat?
I can't reach my crystal extractor from the helm, but I don't want to rebuild it since that would cost 3 magic stones...
Mods, can you confirm if the crewmates that are assigned to salvaging count as pet rolls, or if it’s only player salvaging?
Am I missing something with strange rocks? Do you have to complete something before you can mine them for rubium splinters?
Nvm, in a newer blog they said that both incendiary and chainshot cannonballs wont be part of release and will come later
dont know if i care for how trolly the forgoten drinks are
honestly, they're great
the tp bank one annoyed the heck out of me
You don’t open them until you bank
the bank one made me laugh really hard
u go to a port u can tele back to and has a shipwright, get off yr good boat, summon yr raft, drink them on yr raft
Except charting is decent early on for xp
So you do some of it early on
Funny how the experience is made worse cuz you can’t lamp early on
Meta might be 1-30 lamps after unlock happens
oh no, u dont do all at the end, just if your going to drink, u can find the nearest port u can do that at, and then drink them there
I wish i had a screen recorder, but why do we have to see the text from other peoples crewmates?
There must be 20-30 people here at large salvage, and my screen is just constant text from everyone elses crewmates collecting salvage
There is legit not a tick where there isnt text on the screen from atleast 1 crewmate
Just a suggestion: add a canal through shilo village
Does anyone else randomly get teleported from your boat to a dock when you world hop/log out?
If we're killing of slayer-sailing, can the poison/venom/burn changes hotfix please be undone
The damage reduction in general is already nasty as hell + no multi-exploit in singles zone.
i think there should be somewhat of a cap on combat tasks for the item to bring back, like with hunter rumors where ur guaranteed the item after so many
It takes quite a while to kill creatures and when you're on 50 60 kills without the item at all..
Hopefully you're talking about the rarer item
cuz the common item task is like 1/2 rate
i mean im killing terns for the beak and im on about 50 kc for this task
yea i cant find any that i have available at the ports ive been to, i was doing feather tasks but i dont have any
oh jeez
okay yeah that's bad rng
didnt think that was possible with how many ports there are
i mean i havent checked every single port i have access too but ive checked most, i will go back through them again now that ive done a couple other tasks
but yea maybe some kind of reroll option on tasks lol
and like yea terns themselves are the weakest they really dont take long to kill, but im just assuming that the higher tasks like krakens and such could be really long if u cant get the item
fair enough
i haven't done many port tasks since lvl 15 but i think the chest is fine for uim doing salvaging, charting, and trials
reading about the port tasks it def seems like the crates from each task should stack in the cargo chest
like hoofi said
with...?
If there a channel for suggestions for the actual game in this discord?
Please add Recovery Boat options to every port
install the tp thing
and then you can recover elsewhere then tp to where you wanna go and tp the boat there
yeah, the pandemonium tp on the amulet brings you right next to the shipwright at least tho
i have 0 idea how many salvages i did
luckily i got mine when i was doing large salvage afk for seeds before the second trial
Wait if the new sailing medallion doesn't work on fossil island what the hell is it for
does it not work at all underwater on fossil island or just not in the underwater thieving and agility area
You can't dive with it on at all
Players cannot dive into the Fossil Island Underwater while wearing the medallion. Attempting to do so will be blocked by the message, "The currents around these waters seem pretty strong. You don't think you could keep your medallion on in these conditions."
that's so weird because the mermaids already stop you from wearing diving gear into the thieving/agility area
so idk why they wouldnt just make it so they dont let you wear it into there either, but still let players wear it for the seaweed patches
At this point it's a useless amulet that maybe will have a niche use in a future patch maybe
Maybe
it's currently slightly useful as it is
For what?
charting for one, don't have to wear both pieces of diving equipment
Is that even enough to be useful?
so it saves me a bit of inventory space
i mean im not gonna constantly unequip and store it and then get it back out
lol
still its a niche use
Right but how often are you unequipping and putting something else on
Basically never
hence why it saves inventory space so i can wear my construction cape while also being able to dive
The only use would be if you somehow didn't do RFD but have 63 sailing if that's possible
I just pray there's a future underwater creature or slayer boss or something that it's good for
Why do the seas south of Sunset Coast completely moor your character when you log out or switch worlds? Specifically near the large shipwrecks to salvage south of Shimmering Atoll. It seems whenever I log out here it will put my character on Pandemonium and my ship somewhere far far away. Is this an intended mechanic or whats happening?
welp there goes a ton of cballs and repair kits... logged out at chinchompa island and now im at lands end...
says my boat is still at chincompa island...
hitch a ride with someone there
note, if you sail into crystal water without the right keel, you can not turn around with a crewmember driving
that for any danagerous water
wanted to turn around when i brushed it (thought i was outside of it) but couldnt, sank....
The only new bis that came out with sailing is the hopper right
Or is there anything else
hopper isn't bis, its a stepping stone
really disliking the drinks... 2nd time ported to rimmington...
you dont have to immediately drink every drink you find
yea but you have to be at sea to drink them
and?
that doesnt mean you have to drink them when you're in the middle of doing something else
just a massive annoyance. let the opening of the crate be the unlock thing, drink if you want.
all im doing is exploring. nothing else and its still just a pain in the butt
all i want to do is the unlocks charting atm
dont think new trees drop nests, have foot necklace and twitcher gloves and not a single nest in 300 logs so far from camphor
I got a TON of clue nests
i have all clues stocked in my bank. so none of them for me
lol no, rng just not on my side. got a nest about the 400th log
lol the bee event spawned from my camphor tree...
Disable losing cargo when escaping until all the spots you get stuck are fixed....
Lots of nests from Camphor for me and also Forestey events
forestry events have been plentyful, the nest have been rare for me
u make sure you have yr twitcher gloves on
yea, turned them from egg nest to seed nests and im getting more now. dont know if that is effecting them
Is there a spot where you can hit double pirate wreck without moving/turning ?
Two options actually. The latter one is south of Pest Control, I'm told, and the first screenshot is me rn xd
Dope, thanks boss
The one north of prif can sometimes get ragged by people luring over the kraken
I haven't tried the south spot but it might be better
Been here a few hours without gettingragged though
Ah so that's where the Kraken shows up haha
I just wiggled into that spot south of PC, thanks ^^
takes a little wiggling to get into void knight one
am i misunderstanding something, what is the point of cooking rainbow crab, healing 19, if it costs atleast a shark, healing 20, to catch in the first place
crab paste i understand
I feel like the interacting with jubbles and rum should be automatic
You should focus on driving your boat.
The inconsistency with the interaction range makes it frustrating
Have clicked the rum boat many times and not gotten anything only to crash into it or having to turn around
automatic is not needed
it's the dead click when u load into a fucking new chunk
and micro ass range of teh jubbly
jagex should make a competition for jar design since jar design isnt in the game yet
wym jar design
for the jar the gryphon boss drops or whatever
folks, are there any retroactive changes to old content due to sailing?
like adding sailing as requirements for old quests etc
It's in the game. Why wouldn't there be a design for it already.
Oh.
I just looked on wiki.
are you messing with me, been over 2 mins now with this black screen drink...
dont have time for this today...
I got one and can't even see what it looks like
Why is the cost of belle's folly so low? You'd think it'd be high release and settle to about the same price as zaxe
How many gryphons do you get assigned at a time?
Ah that's a nice amount
The old amounts are crazy
Still weird that it's pretty cheap
My guess is most are sailing/ the irons that will use it are grinding for it
Not much supply or demand
Oh it's going for 7m
There's so few in circulation atm as well
It's slightly worse than zhasta so I wouldn't expect it to have much value
given the terrible rate and needing to be on task, I'm unsurprised at the low supply
Oh it's 7mil? I just assumed the wiki had accurate prices
It's a pretty low weighting
Na always check active traded value
Price on the wiki is always wrong
But yeah they did the jar so dirty
I have a small complaint about Gwenith Glide: the music track doesnt last for the whole course, so theres always a couple minutes of silence towards the end. this harms the vibe
Is there anyone that actually enjoys ship combat?
Feels clunky, cannon damage is basically just slightly stronger thrall, normal weapons are significantly more dps even with the cap, boats take insane unavoidable damage (where you can normally benefit from movement/prayers/switches etc in traditional combat) and repair kits are resource heavy. Most of the high end tasks are in multi, so it makes the problem worse
Nope, it's ass
Early tasks being in single is bad, high level tasks being in multi is also bad
ship cannons are inferior to dwarf cannons by miles, even if you have 2 and crewmates targetting for you, which is why you just mage/range most of them
slayer-sailing that they patched out was honestly a better form of this
Yeah feels like killing fire giants with bronze javelins while tanking leviathan without overheads when you’re fighting armored krakens lol
Speaking of sailing-slayer, does anyone know how to refresh the tasks for a board? I'm trying to do armored krakens (and surely get spooned the teleport focus piece), but I'm not offered the bounty task anywhere despite being lv 80 now
can you get to frost dragons with a boost ?
no
Yesterday i had great white shark tasks offered at the same 2 places, today 1 of them has disappeared and cant be found anywhere else. Not sure how this task allocation works...
weird thing is i can see like mogre tasks being offered in 4 different places...
ship upgrades play a huge role. adamant cannons miss armoured krakens a lot but rune cannons start to hit reasonably often...
Okay, I'm being driven to distraction by Cabin Boy Jenkins and the Chum Spreader. Even when you're wearing a ghostspeak amulet his failure messages are just 'Woooo wooooooo' or 'Wooo wooooooo wooo', and he doesn't seem to be able to use the chum spreader despite having 4 deckhandiness - but I can't see why since the messages are stuck in ghost-speak even when you have the amulet on. Anyone had similar experiences / found a solution? (yes, I have offcuts in both inventory and hold, and knife in inventory as well)
believe he's bugged
does like to use salvaging hook either (addy)
so jobless jim is back on the boat
is Jim able to use the chum station? I assumed it was 4 deckhandiness required since Ex-captain Siad can't use it either (gives an 'I'm not good enough to use this' message)
unknown, waiting for trawling till i get the greater tele focus
I genuinely wonder if all npc crewmates are just bugged to not be able to use the chum station
anyone knows if port tasks are refreshed daily... feels really bad that I just can't earn any exp if i want to chase a specific bounty target...
complete a cargo task and see if board refreshes
Why am I given a task in the northern sea at 62 if I can’t go in there til 66 with addy keel?
Completing other tasks does not seem to refresh the tasks
nor does taking a bunch and canceling them
I have no clue. I tried to find pgymy kraken tasks when i unlocked it
and you might have to do other tasks until they bug out
I've tried and only consistent way is to do 5-10 shit tasks
and then hope they rng reroll
the same shit that allowed us to chain b5b tasks is fucking us for rerolls
feels like this might be the case, my corsair cove seems to be lagging port khazard by 2 task and my port khazard has rerolled or something
let me see if my corsair cove will reroll after 1 more task
My tasks didnt update after 1-3 task, but i noticed at the start of the day my corsair cove tasaks were already different than yesterday but still had the bounty task i wanted. I did 5 courier task and the board resetted again. I think there is a daily reset, and a reset after 5-10 tasks...
Also, does anyone feel that bounty tasks have a pity drop at 2x? I dont think ive seen myself kill more than 20 targets
Nevermind, all my boards seem to have resetted. I think there is a timed based reset happening
any plugin that tracks boat hp like an hp orb or bar with numbers?
For all the ironmen out there and u dont know this, you can alch while navigating
😄
I just alched all my onyx bolts from doom
Can some look into tile marker on mobile it's not working
collection log fodder, probably something to do with purple tokens
nobody lol
its honestly probably just going to get a rework
lol it makes no sense you spend insane raw materials or gold to get cannonballs that have no avas effect and heal yourself as you do negative damage and like nothing happens
its crazy you can pull up with a rune cannon and blast generic birds for what feels like eternity
and the whole time you're just watching it like
if they would let me get off of this boat with a rune scimitar and flippers this would be faster
Can you range them from your boat? Or is there some nerf?
the point of the pearls is that you can put in items and in return get a more valuable item, for example you can see the heavy ballista has gone up in price like 400k because people are buying it to put in a giant clam and get a pearl that can be alched for 1.5m in return
I was killing armored krakens using addy cballs, pretty never hit.
However i dont know what I did but somehow got 1 shadow hit of 66
couldnt do it again
I was trying to remove my crewmate cuz he was just shooting at the water
but i kept getting dialog interrupted so I clicked on the cannon to shoot and then i couldnt get out
when i did i went to hit the kraken and it hit a 66
couldnt replicate it
sounds like you basically managed to attack the kraken while being flagged as in a cannon
so you didnt get the damage reduction
makes me wonder if something really silly like attacking and then clicking cannon lets you do full damage
or the reverse
I don't think so
when I was killing the drink troll queen, I was not using a cannon, dont think i even had one built
i was just attacking with mage and I hit 2 under my max hit
I tried doing that but it didnt work again, after several attempts it always stayed under 34 max hit
Never saw max hit splat
But no hit above 34
It was just that one hit of 66
So I must have done something I just dont know exactly what caused it
I definitely had a few times early on when my bofa was hitting in 20s yeah
Is it me, or does it seem like sometimes you can skim past a crate and not get it while other times your boat is like a crate magnet? (Jubbly race)
Boat hitbox changes a LOT when you're turning
Jubbly one is reeeally bad outcrop sometimes dont get tagged even though you are within range, and yeah the boxes. Some other times you get into an invisible fetid and slows you down
Not to mention is veeery laggy
ship combat aside the stuff i'd really want to change would be like
crew assignment
its kind of awful and silly that you have to go back to specific npcs to figure out your crew and that they can't go with you some places
so you just end up kind of teleporting around the map to get ready to salvage after you do trials for example
when really you should probably just be able to change that anywhere you can change boats
I think combat is ok once you have a crew member. I havent gotten to armoured krakens yet though. I usually make an npc the navigator so that i can turn the ship and fire my cannon for max dps
the biggest problem that i have with it is that basically
its osrs combat but slow and bad edition for the most part
like if you could play the game with no protection prayers the occasional safespot
moving was an ordeal occasionally
and it costed A LOT to simply attack stuff and heal yourself
and everything kinda took forever to die
that's ship combat currently
assuming you don't just get off the cannon and shoot it with your shadow to get it over with
some of those things are understandable imo since they wanted to start off basic
other parts though seem pretty unsustainable and not very satisfying
tbh i think its kinda weird and misses the strong points of sailing
you'd think you would be sailing around and manuvering your ship while the cannons fired and you dodged things that were trying to attack you
and instead you're kinda just checked watching your cannon animation
Let alone the quirkiness of trying to attach multiple NPCs while having crewmates use cannon
You have to attack one npc on one side of the boat, click the eye to have that crew not use your target, then click an npc on the other side of the boat to have that cannon go off
Because both crews will auto try to select the most recent npc you clicked
Wym you just point the target
Oh multiple targets
Misread
Yeah that one is kinda weird
Still wish cannons did more damage for their cost 😭
Granted, idgaf gonna use whatever the best cannonballs I can use are, but still
tbf this whole part of the ui is an abomination and i have no idea what they can even do
i dont really have good suggestions because they're just trying to do way too much for the size of the interface
maybe a small loadout button that at least assigns your crew everywhere you typically want them would help in some situations but like
it has a scroll bar lol its fucked
I was never a big “sailing is a minigame” guy but when I first started playing the skill, the interface literally made me sit there and go “this makes it feel like a minigame” lol
Especially with crew management
Load out button I think would help for sure
Some of the crew tasks are just weird too. Like having someone handle repairs. By handle repairs, it means they just repair a single time per command instead of automatically repairing there forward like I’d expect
thats probably so you can carry enough food to manually eat through awakened leviathan
lmao but really i do think thats included just to have ship healing on the interface that does every other ship thing
They'll continue repairing but stop when the boat gets to max.
oh actually i do see something they can do to the interface
delete the ship name right now lol
that would save a lot of space
Nah I gotta get reminded that my ship is called the Lady Clam every time I open the ui
Yeah I guess I mean for future damage. In my mind, it’d work as:
when command is first given, heal ship to full
When ship reaches x health (50%?) begin healing again until full
probably delete the part that says "not steering" too
like if you dont know if you're steering the ship or not i dont know what to tell you
Done a lot of sailing on mobile, mostly charting and salvaging, and that interface on mobile is horrid to work with
Expected though, but still
idk if they really need to tell you how much hp you have in repairs inside of the cargo hold either
like that info should exist somewhere but
idk thats a lot of space
I think a setting to just have any npc go to the facility would be nice
If I don't care which ones doing it
you could probably banish the stats and crewmates/players onboard screens somewhere else in the ui too
tbh i think i could probably get rid of the scroll bar on this thing
you could just make the ship stats a subsection or your worn equipment tab for example
just like a ship icon on there somewhere that brings up the ship stuff
Suggestion: Can we get something on the sailing panel to show how full our storage is? Perhaps something underneath the health simply saying something like: Camphor Cargo Hold 24/160
guys what should i do ive gotten like 8 dragon cannonball drops on my iron and i havent been given the clog :/
When you summon your boat, does it destroy everything in cargo? Repair kits cannonballs etc,. Or just task cargo?
Use it on the clog book
Anything in the cargo hold
Wow. Thats cheeks. Thanks.
Please let us save crew positions accross logins
are they still updating the experience that were suppose to receive after the update?
not a single beak in over 1k squids... rng hates me
cant stack burns from eclipse on sea birds, damage is capped at 1 per damage splat for burns.
I hope they undo this (keep cargo shit on death) + let you store loot in the cargo
- trash loot from cargo that u dont want like incinerator
ill deal with it either way, but yeah
would be nice
yea this kinda defeats the purpose of the teleport.
fingers crossed
i wish the controlls were better for sailing... i want an e break!
sigh port roberts was good to me, until i hit 56 sailing. now there is an orca bounty i cant take till 80...
been making recoils out of sailing sapphire ring drops.. was at 20k charges at the begining of sailing...
am i the only one that wants to make a dinner out of the duck after we get done charting...?
Damn I would have never thought about it, been dropping everything
im just really really cheap
Nah I mean for irons this is really good
... not an iron lol.... just play a lot like one
Lmao
if it wasn't for the fact membership is so expensive i would sub up my iron and play more... my accounts so old it costs 1/2 the norm price for membership....
whatshould I put in giant clam for the brilliant pearl? (400k value)
something thats worth 400-750k value, like shield right half
i swear the duck is trying to kill your
you...
where is a good bounty at lvl 56? most of where i have been sailing switched to 60+...
Wrong chat sorry. Can’t delete for some reason
Would be cool if we could move stuff in our boats similar to poh build mode in construction. Only allow it at the docks where you can build/ remove stuff
really wish bonecrusher worked for sailing...
Is rough for irons at high sailing if you ever want to upgrade to dragon parts on your boat
I did some testing on my main
After 3 hrs killing armour krakens only got 2 metal parts
i think lava wyrms drop em also
Not to mention fighting the armored krakens just like sucks
It’s slow, not mechanically interesting, and basically exists to drain your repair kits
waiting for the info on the sea creatures damage redux, maybe a way to kill em faster
WEST OF RELEKKA, close to weather data troll there is invisible wall on water
gagex fix pls
i think the rosewood bp will be a good spec wep
ooo nvm, it can only use addy darts, thought at least rune...
does anyone know if bolts not procing on sea creatures is ment to be that way?
To be honest they need to buff the cannons
i would just take no privateering lvl on them...
the fact that u use an addy cannonball and have the dps of a lvl 10 range using iron darts
is sooo bad
should add ballistas that use javelins and then buff cannon strength
grr, lvled and bounty changed again... now i need to find a spot again...
yea
but cargo felt interesting at the start and then slow af
Not even worth doing after 30
people do bounties and those are just meta bounties finding the birds
i had a problem with salvaging but not anymore since almost every location has a double spawn with the right position can always salvage both
which does make it afk
eclipse works well on birds
but id rather get stackable trash than the bunch of jewelry i have to drop
Didn't they explicitly patch out burn on birds and others
For barracudas Gwenith course ive seen vids of people having crates on the color of the portal they go in so they know which to tag
does anyone know how they did that?
been high alchin them
i just really want the bonecrusher to work (or any drop cleaners like herb sack) to work with sailing
dark bow spec hit a 3/1 with dragon arrows on a frigate bird...
well theyre removing bone drops next week for some creatures at least
nice, will take that. would rather have the crusher work but i can live with no bones
just the ones that dont actually have bones like sharks iirc
i want them to actually do damage and to have a reasonable method of getting cannonballs to put in them
what bounty to do at lvl 58?
right now the strat for farming high level npcs in the oceans that drop stuff
is to figure out some kind of safe spot and then blast them with your shadow from it
disregarding the cannon entirely lmao
bowfa can hit hard if you dont have shadow money
been meaning to try balista just to see where they sit
hate to say it but the ship combat is probably the biggest miss this version of jagex has released
na, first steps
Cannonballs are so expensive and barely any XP. Especially as an Ironman.
only thing i really hate about it is the cball crafting speed
They have the double speed at like 87 or something
theres also the part where they dont really do damage lol
yea still not great
and also that a lot of these npcs go insane if you actually try to fight them
and you use infinity boat healing items that also cost a lot
the whole thing is just not really working
Salvaging has been giving a ton of boat healing items
mahogany kits are cheap for the healing
they're like 3.4k each
to be honest most combats should stay in single or singles+
Still really slow and not even close to a bank
yeah you have to afk the vampire krakens to be able to teleport to boat
so you can make the cannonballs that do nothing
hope that helps
There's a fairy ring
But it's still sucky
Because you have to go bank then tele fairy ring
Notably making them a lot more effort and slower than 2x
i mean idk what im even really intended to do at this point all of the options seem pretty rough
i could afk opulent salvage to hopefully get some dragon cannons
but thats pretty rough for a drop rate
The best option is to hope that Jagex makes ship combat not suck this Wednesday lmao
But unlikely
yeah thats what i was saying the ironmen we have it rough
yeah i just mean looking at the entire situation its just kinda fucked like
and the mains unless u r rich
okay i can go spend infinite time to make the dragon cannons right
either afk salvage for exp or kill frost dragons until the eyes bleed
I guess that's not really a bad thing just another added layer to frost dragons
probably cant fight them straight up
so safespot with shadow for eternal afk kills
get bottled storm one year
now i can tele to my boat
and like lol
Lmao
Yeah this isn't really that much of an increase
And not to mention cballs
Nobody's going to be making bulk amounts of rune cballs for example
They went really wild on money sinks
I mean they literally told us how awful it would be and said it was a good thing
i think its mostly unplayable
Remember what Mod Husky said
Mod Husky was asked how grinding ship parts would be on an ironman and he specifically compared it to killing tens of thousands of demons for Radiant contracts in what he thought was a positive comparison lmao
gotta be honest i think 90 sailing is the highest ill go on my iron until im close to max
yeah he wasn't even wrong
he just forgot to mention that it was tens of thousands of frost dragons
or fight other npcs for thousands of kc for a drop
My motivation to 99 sailing has rapidly dwindled tbh
that take reduced damage to the only weapons that hurt them
and hit your boat like awakened leviathan if you fight them as intended
so idk lmao
It will probably be just salvage at this point because all the other methods are awful as prolonged training methods
yeah
I like trials, but they don'e really have any enjoyment for replayability imo
And I think their xp/hr is too high in that they kinda force you to them
i just wish more stackable loot while salvaging and less 1 invo x item
i mean idk i need cox to start dropping twisted depth charges
Ship combat is too tremendously awful, being bad xp, high activity, high resource input, and bad loot all at once
if they want my boat to do anything
"High activity" because you have to repair your boat lmao and go get a new bounty task
Not the actual combat being intensive
i dont want to link this because they might "fix" it
i give you ship combat
truly an update of all time
I clicked on it, you can delete it now O.O
these guys want you to stop everything at 79 to prep for upgrades
lmao
i think the combat will get better when the flame cballs come out
but just watch the video
Ah yes the rubidium cballs that will cut your cball supplies in half
thats where we're at lmao
and the higher lvl planks are waaaaaay to expensive like if you can use them in regular construction
if you get to 87 you can "afk" for ironwood healing supplies but like
its 1 in like 30 something salvages
id understand if they are planning on expanding the construction
so maybe if you afk there to 99 you might get your cannons and some healing for like
a few hours
lmao that just sounds so insane
Lead should also be drop by some of the slayer monsters noted
nothing crazy
since eventually is gonna be like iron ore trainig
training*
would be funny if you could put the cannon on the deck
i mean it feels like there is an entire upgrade tree that doesn't actually exist but its supposed to be there
where you install dwarf multicannons basically on your ship
and that's how you actually do damage past level like 50
but instead you gotta get to like 90 something to hit in the 30s
Oh I forgot the best part about the sailing "PvM"
On an ironman
GL getting 5 Storms in a bottle for your ship teles lmao
Especially with clues now on remote islands
have u guys seen the safespot method
its literally just like park your boat on the spawnpoint and rotate to wherever they move
I have not seen that
installing dwarf multicannons would kinda fix how awkward it all is too
because you wouldn't be battling your interface trying to put crew in certain places
btw you can HA and salvage at the same time, click a item to alch, then bench. its not "at the same time", but kinda

6000 armored krakens
good luck
took me like 2 hrs on max mage to kill 100
ahahhahhahaha
using addy cannon
at the same time
it almost doesn't pay to have the crewman sail for you, any change interups what your doing....
Dw the community loves collecting things like awakeners orbs and contracts
Bro the crates are barracudas are crazy sometimes next to it and it doesnt pick it up
hate it
omg lol, un botted rune ore
give it a month and these in the charred cave will be...
i kind of understand why this is happening but idk what they can do about it
they could for example change the hitbox or whatever you want to call it
but then we'd just try to cut the turn earlier and create the same issue
i think a real fix would probably be pretty interesting on how to make them feel more consistent
Just need a proper visual of what your ships hitbox is.
A speedometer would be nice too, wild that you're playing a racing / time trial game without one lol
@solemn seal @silent iron https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/1p54hsa/am_i_supposed_to_lose_my_hc_to_an_instakill_from/
sorry for pinging - is there any way the team could look into adding an additional warning if you're about to take lethal damage from a sailing potion so that I'm the last hardcore to perish this way?
There's plenty of warning already. The wiki's a good resource if in doubt
The really, really lethal potions give the same warning as any other, I think it wouldn't hurt to change that
Even if this one said "You recall your conversation with Death and shiver..." or something
Noted! And sorry that your HC perished
It's fine, I mean it's bs to die to what is essentially a troll item, but as the comments on that Reddit thread say it's my fault so w/e
Sailing's been dope
I mean if you disable the normal warnings then you only get warnings for potions that deal damage or spawn hostile NPCs. Perhaps a better system to differentiate between the two warnings if you don't disable normal warnings is needed
But then again, you're a hardcore, if you don't google literally everything before you do it you're going to die to something eventually
Yeah, but by the time you can access the one that hits 90% of max hp you've opened 64 other potion crates of which about 20-25 have the danger warning and none of which are actually particularly dangerous - so you're conditioned to assume the next one will be the same as the last
And the wiki got updated to include details of this potion about 2 hours after I died
But like, this isn't really a debate about whether I'm a dumbass or not, just that adding troll items to the game is fun/funny but adding one that's literally designed to kill hardcores that don't click the wiki button on every item is absurd
yeah I can agree that danger warning doesn't really give you a good idea of how dangerous it is
I even banked to grab food after the last potion I consumed because 65 hp didn't feel like a safe play lol
being hit an 89 with the same warning as being hit a 20 is not fun game design
it's tough because on one hand, you know the bottles can be dangerous, the jmods had previously said "hey be careful drinking the bottles", and overall it's just new content so you've gotta be careful, but you just kinda assumed it would be fine without knowing what would happen
but on the other hand none of the other bottles are as dangerous as that one, and the warning is used liberally enough that the warning then becomes less impactful
(and it's also just a lame death)
Regardless of any blame that's on me, having a skilling item in the game that you have to consume for completionist reasons that'll outright kill you if you're not careful such that you have to be glued to the wiki for every item related to that skill is bad game design that's only there to punish hardcores
The only ones I'd change are this one and the Bottle of Underground Passteurised Milk
I'm gutted I don't get to go out to a real death because, realistically, a dev thought it'd be funny when a hardcore dies to this
i think my ultimate opinion is that you DID drink the "potion that instantly kills you" without knowing what it was, but did there really need to be a "potion that instantly kills you" in the first place?
Yeah I'm not looking for sympathy or to be rolled back or whatnot
It just shouldn't exist and they should change it before the next guy dies
It's really tainted this release for me ngl. I took like a 3-4 month break before sailing dropped and this hooked me in, I might've grinded nearly 80 hours since release lol
Such a rich content release
Let us use our antique lamp 🙁
i give you permission to use your antique lamps
All I'm saying is don't expect to drink suspicious alcohol from a crate at sea that has been there for years and expect to be fine
There's expecting to be fine and there's expecting it not to be the most punishing damage source in the game outside of hardmode Verzik and the Yama meatball
(And jad/zuk but they're safe)
Now that there are some 99s, have we seen if the sailing cape perk still requires a greater teleport focus to teleport to your boat?
Oh never mind I guess I either misremembered or they changed it, it looks like it only does summon boat now. So 1200 armored kraken per iron it is then.
Yeah, the wiki definitely said teleport to your boat not teleport your boat to you, but to be fair that was added before anyone even had 99 so probably just misinformation
I think that death is equivalent to an hcim dying to a boss mechanic that's unknown on release
You get warned it's dangerous and there's numerous potential deaths from some potions.
It's unfortunate but also entirely preventable
There's even a blog post warning you I think
should of heeded their warnings
Is there a reason why you can't barehand the new harpoon spots that have no "Net" option? Or is that an oversight?
Does cape work if boat is lost at sea and not anchored?
Yeah, it’s like rushing a boss and refusing to look at available info and then crying foul
you mean the lantern harpooning spots?
No idea, It's a spot that just says "Harpoon", and when you attempt to fish it says you need a harpoon. Nothing about a lantern
what island was it on? did you bring a lantern
barbarians might not be trained to do it without a harpoon yet
Probably - but I would expect the popups in game to sufficiently explain what is necessary, preferably in full rather than in part. There's no indication that the spot is related to lantern fishing or requires a lantern (until i presumably return 8 minutes later with a harpoon and it tells me i need a lantern)
hi @solemn seal - really sorry for the ping, but I've seen you answering other questions so I thought I'd give it a go with just a really quick one:
Is it intended behaviour that the Bonecrusher (normal or necklace, in inventory or worn), don't work with bones harvested from sailing monsters?
Thank you!
Has there been any information about the possibility of moving facilities around on your boat without fully removing them?
idk honestly i think its perfectly adequate
like
do we really need a warning for the warning
or like the extra special warning for when you should take it seriously but ignore the other warnings (why do these exist then?) etc
theres really only so much you can do and if players want to ignore the warning then whatever happens is on them
the warning as is is already an extra warning on top of the warning you can disable for every bottle so definitely not a 3rd warning lmao
tbh i kind of think there shouldn't even be warnings in a way
like i think its fine to have the one warning where they let you know that anything could happen
but beyond that its kind of just hand holding
That’s kind of the point of the drinks you could have all sorts of bad stuff happen it’s risky they told you it can be dangerous
If you go drink them after that blind it is what it is
Drinks are just a "quirky" thing for a short while, until runelite plugins are built for the drinks and everyone just follows the plugin instead of the in-game warning.
Already have a plugin for all of that
The teleports and black screen are funnier than just take damage
It’s honestly a mental skill check lol
If you get to almost 80 sailing on a hardcore use no wiki info and drink things ignoring warnings I mean
And things like the squirrels
You were supposed to die
They were ahead of the wiki
for comparison there's a dialogue option in a quest in rs3 that will instantly kill you and it says "are you absolutely, truly sure you want to do this" like 3-4x before it rinses your hardcore status - it's not a game skill check so I don't see why it shouldn't be additionally warned when the damage you're about to take will be lethal, leaving it in its current state doesn't add anything to the game
Tbf
Yeah they were playing risky
yes I was risky but also what does it take away from the game if they make it harder to die to?
But also I can understand being lulled into false security
Yeah
64 potions are reasonably safe, the 65th can kill you from almost full hp
It's not like great game design
It’s supposed to be risky if they just tell you hey are you sure you want to die 6 times
I'm not saying I shouldn't be dead but I am saying it's shit game design
Like
But that's what happens on hard core when doing new content
dying to a boss mechanic is not the same thing and anyone saying it is, is arguing in bad faith
I hear you and agree it's not great game design
It's more that the rest were kinda silly easy
Small trolls
that's the only thing I'm advocating for, is that nobody else should be able to die like this
I'm okay with having lost my status, I don't want someone else to
Yeah idk I think it’s entirely fair to die like that
It’s not like you got jump scared you just ignored the warning
i didn't ignore the warning, it was the same warning as every other potion
the wiki at the time just said you have a chat with death when you drink it
So you were warned a million times and saw several other things happen including some rather large damage hits
And finally died to the big one
there's only one other large hit and it's a 60ish
every other potion is 20-30 or a mob spawns
I ate at 65 before drinking it just incase
I just don't see what it adds to the game to allow people to lose status to that, in fact I think it would be a much better troll if it did instantly kill you but didn't take your status, that'd be more in line with what the rest of those troll potions do
I think you’re trying to rationalize not liking them after you lost your hc status more than anything
I would be defending anyone else that lost status to this ngl
Guys not asking for status back, and I think it is kinda randomly punishing
I'm not even saying it's bad game design and I should be rolled back, I'm just saying nobody else should lose status to this because it's ridiculous
I don't want someone with a better account than mine to lose to this as well
I had a quiver and that sucks to lose out, but I at least wasn't on a super progressed account
Thank you Jagex for the sailing update, I see the foundations laid for fully fleshed out naval empire, potentailly added thousands of hours for me and I would recommend/bond up friends to call in the fleet.
Idk it seems very avoidable and not random
I’d agree if it was actually out of nowhere without warning and so on
I agree, and it adds nothing to the game except occasionally wiping someone's account
Sure it does most people aren’t hc
And they have fun seeing the stuff happen when they drink them including potentially dying
I think its a fun jump scare but that it has the potential to be devastating
You were just playing loose with the single game mode you shouldn’t have been and it costed
instruction unclear, drank bleach and fork stuck in electric outlet
Wait till some uim wipes death storages
It sucks but like it’s not unfair or broken or anything
I think it'll be a much better jump scare if it does always kill you to deaths office but as a troll instead
but what does this add to your gameplay experience in its current state except that you get to laugh when someone fucks up
I didn't scroll up, but sorry for your loss, may the rest of us learn from your science @buoyant flare
you did do it for science right?
of course
I'd do anything for science 🙂
I'm honestly more butthurt about the unparalleled amount of abuse I got in Reddit DMs than I am about the wipe lol
it wasn't that unfair I just think it should be changed lmao
haters gonna hate on the pioneers, I won't vote for a change, but I appreciate you for teaching the rest of us not to just bottoms up
did you get a good screenshot or light up your last? post it to the wiki
the wiki has since been updated for that potion
so should be fine
apparently the danger relied on you remembering a conversation one of the first potions makes you have with Death
I think it wouldn't hurt to have a "You shudder as you recall what Death said to you" or something
would be fitting
this is literally the HCIM darwin awards, you're told multiple times that this is risky, have multiple confirmation dialogues, one of which cannot be disabled, and you've seen that similar potions have dangerous, damaging, and most importantly unpredictable effects.
the coding for it turned out to be too complicated to do so, or so ive been hearing from others
HCIM is not meant for people that want to be handheld through the game
like, it sucks losing status, for sure, but that is the most utterly avoidable reason
when 64 previous warnings all result in nominal damage, having one hit you for 89 with the same warning isn't a Darwin award
the devs even specifically call out 'hey, HCIMs, be careful with this in the newspost'
'Familiarity breeds contempt' is honestly how I'd say the majority of HCIM deaths happen, ironically this is no different at all
I mean tbf I charted the entire ocean the other day and played the potions safer than that and didn’t die lol
And I’m not even hc
devs broke 4th wall to try and save some HCIM, maybe after boatloads dead HCs people will finally heed the warnings
That’s definitely one of those I think I know what’s going on but if someone directly asked me if I knew I’d say of course not type of moments
Not really the hc play style of choice
no hate on the folks that paid with status to show us the warning's valid
It would be like
Imagine I ran into frost dragons thinking I knew what I was risking due to other breath attacks in the past
Hits me a 99 because these can
I can’t really get mad at that even though I assumed due to most dragons that wouldn’t happen
Since I don’t actually know about these specific ones
thats 19 higher than vorkath dragon breath
idk how many more ways I can express that I'm not mad about my loss but that I think the game would be in a better place if this was tweaked
Nah that's a shit example lol
its actually identical
I want to see hardcore's die to dangerous pvm not bottles of soul
he drank a bunch of the brews saw they could hit hard
assumed since the others didn't hit that hard that surely this one wouldn't either
and hes dead
like, I'm sorry if this is harsh, but having a warning more blatant than what we already have, literally a 'don't drink this it will kill you', is actively against the spirit of HCIM, it's not meant to be a no-risk gamemode, and if you go through the game with an attitude of 'the game needs to completely blatantly warn me if I'm about to do something that can get me killed' - then HCIM just isn't for you, and this is not specific to your loss, but HCIM in general.
I fully charted like 3 days ago purposely didn't edit wiki cause I thought it'd be hilarious to see how many idiots lose status to it. Thank you for the comedy. ❤️
its the same logical breakdown
assuming you know when you dont based on prior experience
that doesn't actually apply
The guy isn't asking for more warnings I don't think, it's more that it's just not the best game design
it's only in the game to randomly wipe hcs and that's shit design
what does it add to the game? what does it detract from the game if it's changed?
I don't wanna see people wipe to sailing potions I wanna see them wipe to verzik green ball
I would say it's bad game design if they were completely safe and you could just ignore the risk, and would make the forced, non-cancellable warning message look silly
well its pretty lame if we get these supposedly dangerous drinks but dont worry jagex made sure they're not too scary so just drink them all and dw
Its new content, you don't know if they made a way to negate/stop it. Its new content you died. Sit.
sometimes a glorious death has to be earned
you think it'd be bad game design for the potion to say "You remember your conversation with Death and shiver... Are you sure you want to drink this?"
considering that you can hide pretty much every single warning message in this game, the fact that this one, you can't, should be more than enough warning
it even adds flavour since that's why it hits so hard
I mean, we're going around in circles here. I think that would be terrible game design as it would be utterly blatant handholding and defeat the point of HCIM as a mode, you disagree, we're at an impass here

i think it actually adds to the hc game mode
who cares about being hc with nothing that could hurt you
I think in its current design people won't even remember the conversation with Death by the time they get the second soul bottle so it hitting so hard adds no context
like, I, and I think most other HCIMs, do not want an RS3 style 'here's four 'are you sure you REALLY want to do this'' messages back to back
I hope Jagex add entropy to our ships, capsizing or sinking in battle means chance of losing parts or the entire ship no option to tow back, good sink
neither do I, just the same warning being adjusted to add context for why it's dangerous now and not for the others
did you remember the chat with death by the time you got the second soul bottle? if not, it adds nothing to have it be a mechanic in the first place
you should treat them all as dangerous, going 'oh hey this enforced second warning isn't a threat because others have not been instantly fatal damage' is utter complacency
i mean yeah i charted the entire ocean in one sitting
like, if you don't want to get hit by gotchas, don't drink the sussy alcohol unless you're absolutely sure you know what it does
Yesterday I got 72 Sailing been lvling my iron and my main. On my way to Gwenith glide I picked several bottles and charted at priff port, drank one by one, one hit me for 33 and the other one hit me for 66, both didnt have different notifications but it killed me. So I understand where he is coming from
if you think having troll gotchas in the game is good game design in the first place then I don't think we're going to get anywhere talking about it
Is a troll activity it shouldnt kill you
its not even like its the only scary potion
you know one of the trolls can hit over 50 right
I mean, if you have a problem with the grog bottles being in the game in general, that's an entirely different conversation, and a valid point you could raise, but 'hey I ignored the warnings because I assumed they were superfluous until the time they weren't and that's what I'm mad about' is just silly
I'm not even mad about it, I've already said I fully accept that it was complacency, I just think it shouldn't be how it currently is
dinky the drink troll possibly does not fuck around
because the level of what is 'scary' differs depending on account progression, so Jagex (quite rightly) put the same VERY BLATANT warning on all potentially deadly potions
Regardless of hcim or main account, why in the world they add something as a troll item to make you explore the game hit you enough to kill your character, for example what if it was day 1 or 2 where there was no wiki to know what they do and you have stuff in your cargo? you lose them just cuz they decided to troll?
by get anywhere do you mean agreement? I understood the point being made that it's a subjective opinion "Is a troll activity it shouldn't kill you" absent other compelling argument I'll vote keep as is if it comes up, wouldn't mind the game put in easter egg for the early Darwin winners though.
Like the ones that puts you outside your boat
you know there's multiple others that you can lose your cargo to? hell there were plenty of navigation bugs that could cause a cargo wipe, that's why they limited what you can put in your cargo hold
this is a fair point, they refunded people who lost out on the first few days to the teleport potions
I think they wanted to add some more anti space bar mechanics and I'm here for it
sure if they didn't blatantly warn you
however they did so any trolling is self inflicted
"i cant believe they told me it was dangerous and i egoed the warning and then i died"
lol i mean what can you really do
My point is, not to remove it but instead a more personalized option warning on each, for example what if you are on mobile, you know how annoying is to wiki? literally leave the game, read the wiki comeback and see if the game still kept you logged if not log back. Idk dont quote me on this, im not mad and not asking to change what they do but realistically shouldnt have those effects, in the end we can come by the skill without touching these crates.
I didn't follow the full convo. Was it that it happened to kill them because already low health or its literally just insta death
do we just make the game boring and put up guard rails everywhere that things could potentially result in a hc death
was 85/97 hp
basically wasn't high enough hp
is the hc discussion still going on
That's the thing, if the basis of this discussion is 'there should be even more warning' - I'm sorry, I can count on one hand the amount of un-cancellable warning messages, and most of those are legacy content like construction. The fact that there is a second, back to back, un-cancellable warning message is PLENTY blatant enough that anyone that chooses to ignore that warning because they assume they will be fine this time because they have been before - with something which is deliberately unpredictable - is fully up for an OSRS darwin award.
ya it is lol
the game double warns you for extra bad pots lol
and the death hitting 90+ is after you have the second one
takes like a millisecond of intuition to put the puzzle pieces together
i dont think you can even get the other soul flask until 60s or so
I think there's only one warning, unless there's a toggle option very early on that I missed
base warning for drinking, second warning for extra bad drinks
higher
its in the frozen part of the ocean so whatever the brazier is
78
78, so it was a whole 5 days in between them for me
(Unboostable)
There's two warnings, first for the sussy alcohol that's 'are you sure you want to drink this, they can have unpredictable and sometimes dangerous effects' - which can be turned off. Then a second warning for the potions which can have personally deadly effects of 'are you REALLY SURE you want to drink this?' - which cannot be turned off
honestly, that's close to handholding as it is, but I think is plenty good enough safety rails
i mean its definitely hand holding
they're saying without saying what is about to happen
the fact that the devs went out of their way to directly warn HCIMs doing the content early before wiki information is available about these in the newspost as well is the cherry on top
the wiki information I had available was that the potion would make me have a safe chat with death, was I supposed to assume it was incorrect?
it got updated three hours after I died
this just seems like the worst thing to get mad at
I'm not mad
I don't want people to die to it
I would like to see hardcore's die to pvm instead of potions
like i'd be more mad at things like raiding and dcing is an automatic death even if its jagex's fault the server goes down
the wiki also said that bolts of cotton require three cotton yarn for like, four days
dying to the game after being warned is fine
and the news post says you respawn on 1hp if you capsize, which also isn't true
I died, and that's okay - it was somewhat complacency and somewhat a lack of information being accurate, but either way having potions in the game that do wipe people is going to result in a some future hardcore's and uims wiping their shit to it and I don't think the payoff of having a fun troll in the game is worth the time cost to those people
if you disagree with me saying the warning text should be tweaked, maybe you'll agree that they just shouldn't be in the game in this state in the first place
and if you disagree with that too, then that's okay, I think we have different priorities for game design
again, sorry you'll lost status, but I think you'll find the vast majority of HCIM players disagree with you, we actively don't want to be handheld
there's a lot of things in sailing that I think are not dangerous enough for hardcores
I think capsizing should wipe status, for example
the current state of that is also handholding
but letting people wipe to random potions just doesn't add anything to the game
- Fix the sailing combat or remove the damage cap on them if not willing to buff cannons damage.
- Add more stackable loot to the shipwreck loot
- Make repair kits stacks in 5 or 10s (if not willing to fix ship combat)
- Improve the cargo system (is a fun activity not worth doing once you are 30 Sailing or can camp bird bounties)
These are my takes
nice status l00l
on the other hand
you seem fun
it has a scroll bar
my only achievement was zombie axe quiver, and I'm not crying about my status lol
ya u r
if you'd actually read what I said, I just think it's shit game design and don't want to see anyone else wipe to it
uve been here since u died
also please adjust the locations where we can adjust our crew
aka everywhere we can board a boat
make a new acc and run it back stop bein a lil crybaby lol
also having a crew loadout option where they just went to their preset positions would help things feel a lot less clunky
Ah and pleeeeeease add a damn bank in the shipbuilding area
I hope you have a good run and avoid disconnects 🙂
nothing worse than telling 4-5 npcs what to do
hopping worlds
and having to do all of that again
already have a good run 🙂
is annoying enough having to run back and forth for every upgrade
@buoyant flare Like, I respect that you're happy to discuss it in good faith, @red igloo honestly you're not helping - what I'd say is, hey, go take a nice walk outside, get some fresh air, you're being rational but understandably do come across quite bitter about it, which again, completely get that. Then hey, come back and think about what you'd like to do for the next challenge ^^
ngl bro aint reading al that
solution comes in a spectrum, I appreciate all of you, even a flamer like you Kumar
Yeah an option of last command will be nice
anyways lack of knowledge got u killed get over it and move on lmao
Have a nice day man
but yeah as for ship combat
no idea its a dumpster fire it even had faux trying his best to be polite about it
and hes doing tricks on everything for sailing
lmao
I mean is not ship combat when your option is to attack the npc with your bis in mage or range to kill one high lvl npc without using 1 full invo of repair kits
i mean i guess it has mainly like
3 issues to me
the first is that the cannon damage is honestly too low to be exciting
ship combat fr needs a lot of work
I hope when they introduce the new cannonballs and higher LV ships that theyll be in a better place
the second is that the resource cost between cannonballs and the healing items is so extreme that it honestly feels super disrespectful of my time
and the third is that its intended to be kind of slow and not in depth which wouldn't appeal to me but this part is understandable
since its new
the other two though
those are rough
I see a good foundation, later we'll probably need a good helmsman and need multiple projectile to take down big game at sea
types
one thing they could change in that space is to make it so that your crewmate will path you to an enemy when you try to fire at them instead of just saying you're out of range
I dont know if yall agree with me but repair kits stack in 5s or 10s seem fair to me
i would rather just not need that many repair items to heal myself
I agree with you @round lintel I raise you needing a player/crew to actively apply it
mess up the order of operation means your kit fails
but yeah idk it all adds up into a mess where its like
can't wait to make the flunkie walk the plank
you feel like you just spent tons of time or gp to get your cannonballs ready and your healing supplies up
and you go out there
is the issue of repair kits being lacklustre still the case with the highest tier ships? I did notice I barely needed any once I upgraded to adamant tier, but I didn't try to kill any vampire kraken or similar
you just fucking delete your cannonballs no avas effects nothing
and you end up using so many repair items lol
they still need to add bigger scale mining/smelt/cball production
think a strip mining island
i mean im not even worried about that
one of the biggest problems is that actual affordable ammo is dog
who even cares how long it takes to make cannonballs if i have to use rune ore
its obvious what im really going to run into here that will block me
but tbf
to be honest Dwarf cannonballs should separate, then make steel cannonballs a separate item, buff the damage accordingly on each tier, maybe if they want add something to improve accuracy
i almost think we're just living in our varlamore part 2 rates era
where jagex just lowballs everything so hard because they're afraid to be wrong
that we're actually all wasting our time and should wait on the next 3 weeks of fixes
is not like shooting cannonballs is insane xp
its pretty insane though
i could probably prep to green log nex faster than you could green log the ocean combat stuff atm on an iron
when one is a known to be resource heavy boss and the other is a bunch of mostly irrelevant low level stuff with insane rates lol
like oh yeah 1 in 1100 great white sharks for one salvage hook
then let me go to the krakens next etc
oh you need some dragon sheets light work just go kill like 30k frost dragons
lmao its unhinged
dragon sheets might get more common as new supply comes out, I'm already thinking about sinks
or I'm just going to wait for bottom to buy a maxed fleet and invite/bond up my friends to call in a fleet
I think they went above and beyond with the money sink
hm is a maxed sloop for a normie with ge?
I was thinking a full fleet should run a clan about 100b
why though
do you think a dragon axe should cost 1b
because that's about what we're looking at
lmao
yea
gotta pay if you wanna save those ticks😤
i actually think its kinda interesting that they repeated one of the most talked about/obvious failings of old skills like smithing
they rushed to fill out the level curve so now we have these basically horrible cannons as level 90+ equipment
just like making a runeplate body
I don't think the level curve is rushed as much as the stuff at the top just doesn't have the numbers to be strong enough
it's a well known narrative control strategy, double down on the failed smithing tree, just so when the revamp comes they solve the whole stack in one move.
imagine if they revamped smithing as a side show when patching sailing, steals the spotlight from the eventual smithing revamp
tinfoil hat emote*
it also sets up a terrible situation in the future
like lets say they do make better cannons right
do you now just have to basically have 99 sailing so that you can use the new cannon that requires 70 range to operate
like how the level 93 cannon takes 60 range currently lol
I want a cannon so massive, you have to build your whole ship around it, the ship is fragile but you have insane range, can transfer said cannon unto a island you control
If they are not willing to do anything about the cannons at least remove the damage cap
On that note
Anyone know why every once in a while your weapons don't get reduced damage
and make repair kits to stack a little so you dont have to run laps to your cargo with 160+ repair kits to camp krakens specially cuz they are in multi
im pretty sure its just broken
like
even if its not broken or random as a player trying to attack stuff from on your boat
its effectively random
better npc crew, they should be the ones scrubing and patching, if I paid for a 1b ship I shoot/steer only
that one actually upsets some devs for games when their players don't understand something because they can't
so they assume its random when its not
and the dev just has to learn in that situation it effectively is random and they should probably fix it if that isn't the intention lol
idk how all hands on deck they've been but feels they are leaving some things behind and giving priority to other things that arent game breaking
also man my inner thoughts just really came out i was dropping some salvage and just straight threw the dragon cannonballs on the ground
lmao
@meager flame pitch a salvage sorter/filter contraption I'll vote yes.
For example one thing im hating is shipbuilding, can they please add an option to move something you built instead of having to remove it?
i wish the bank was just at the shipyard
its already effectively right next to it
why am i taking this loading animation over and over
For example you are excited about your wind catcher, then you go to priff get the heart build it somewhere else and findout you need to place it next to the steering for it to work properly
Yeah I had to -1m to move focus
the windcatcher is just bad design i think
If nobody told me ahead of time
i believe they will fix that one eventually
It would've been -3m to rebuild focus and extract
like
the extractor shouldn't really have positional requirements on where you build it
but it does because
honestly idk if they really thought about it at all
i hope they didnt lol
I mean I get it you get 600 xp each min
so they ofc dont want it to be something you can click from anywhere
Psure just all their testing was done with infinite supply crate like in beta/alpha
but the fact that you wont know until its too late
So rebuild was the same as relocate in their mind
