like if you attack the boss then try to mage a grub it dont work
this isnt case with either melee or range
until someone creates a boak pattern, melee is just dead in water cuz of how annoying it is 
like imagine if manticore, shockwave/javelin colossus all had a melee attack that overrode their normal attack patterns 
yeah if you attack with spell it doesnt ignore the delay of your last attack but powered staves do

yeah the orb mechanic on its own isn't that bad but it feels like its interaction with all the other mechanics wasn't well thought out
I find the shield annoying cuz is inconsistent, sometimes loads sometimes looks like it does but doesnt work or sometimes you are getting 3-4 attacks at the same time you are moving and is really annoying
not only is it really unweildy and small to follow along with, it doesn't feel like they considered how annoying it is to have poison/rocks in your path like at all
The other thing is the charge forever attack, every 7 ticks boss is charging and is forcing you to move somewhere you dont wanna be leaving those boulders wherever you happened to be

him being able to just break cycle and whack you with a melee attack is especially awful considering the crystals for the orb spawn around him

Overall i like the boss, loot needs to be a smidge better. orb mechanic needs to like trigger how leviath does and follow a set path

also yeah projectiles being invisible because of weird rendering fuckery has always been a minor issue but it's pretty egregious in this boss
getting hit a 50 because something just didn't show up on the screen is not fun and at a larger scale it's kind of whack how long this issue has persisted
though I will concede that the rendering issues are some serious hard coded spaghetti and not an easy fix

the other day i was doing the wildy bosses, i anti-pked someone, went to bank with the loot key i got and to bank my pvm loot, i resupplied/banked and went back up, logged out to wait for friends and i logged back in to me being back at ferox and not at callisto, with the same loot key i opened, same supplies/loot i banked just sitting at ferox. happened to 4/5 of the people i was playing with. luckily the 1 person that didnt have it happen was our buddy who got the pet

Honest opinion of the new boss. I hate it, it's so inconsistent for challenge each level, it's frustrating, it's not even fun. At least Yama was fun.
I think boss is fun, the orb mechanic is not good and thats my only complaint.
also the race car slams, the safe spots dont seem to be indicated that much behind the rocks

I dunno, I hate the fact you can get like 8 charge up attacks in a row (not including the multi charge attack) so you get barely any DPS. Plus then the orb attack will path in ways that nothing else in the game paths. Then you can hit it with your emberlight on the charge up and roll a zero and nothing happens then you get blasted a 60 and it heals him like 500hp.
Also the melee slugs, no matter how you hit them you take 15 damage from them doing an AOE unless you've got perfect ping and can walk off in time. While trying to change prayer and avoid the acid blood.
Worms dont do damage to you if they hit the boss, you cant hit a 0/not stop the attack if you hit it with melee. the orb mechanic is only thing you described that just isnt just a skill issue.
I've hit the boss with my emberlight many times and seen a zero during the charge up. So unless it's bugged
doubtful even 0s end it, because you have 100% accuracy
tbh my biggest complain is that the boss and the like
system surrounding it aren't very compatible
once you're on like wave 6

Good boss, orb mechanic bad. easier to just eat the slams with triple eats while flicking properly.
orb seems janky but i think alot of it is we might all just be a bit bad
see it more as skill issue/adjusting to the mechanics

Okay, so the emberlight isn't hitting a zero, the thrawl is. But when the boulder explodes it cancels any action your character is doing (even if you've moved from the tile where the boulder will land) so you don't actually HIT the doom.
so it better to wait till boulder explodes then attack so to speak?
this only happens if you get hit by the falling rocks
Are you sure it's cancelling actions? Because I'm just ctrl-clicking to walk before it explodes to (usually) dodge it, and it's not stopping me like Yama's meteor does. The issue with the charge, when I die to it, is usually that it's not a 0t thing like the grubs or cacti, so you have to wait until the 4-5 ticks from whatever ranged weapon you're using have passed before you can swing emberlight at moki

There’s plenty of non-convers who still think OSRS is as low skill as in 2007, and then they see some of the modern mechanics and are shocked.
point is, they cant develop content with a single subset in mind. it needs ramping difficulty. its why wow has 4 tiers of raids
You definitely can develop content with a single subset. Cox was a huge success and they didn’t try and built it around all skill levels it was meant for endgame at the time

cox actually was developed as a end game raid meant to be tackled with 20+ people similar to how wow raids are. however there is skilling elements in it that can include everyone.
Inferno was developed as end game only, it was during a time when the focus was on end game and a lot of the rest of the game was ignored. this was a detriment to osrs's future which is why they moved away from it.
Go look at active player graphs. There was a big jump when tob released, not really any change when toa released

However inferno was developed in a way to be 1 time content, meaning you get the cape an thats it. it was peak pinnacle of unlocking a bis. but it didnt have longetivity. they made it live a little longer with a pet, slayer tasks and CA's. but outside of those you ignore that place completely.
There wouldn’t be 200k concurrent if they didnt flesh out the early and mid game to keep players playing

i hate orbs and contracts, i actually dont mind the wave mechanics i feel they are often done well.
I do hope they revisit DT2 before I finish all the pets there cuz it would be nice if Awakened DT2 Bosses got a similar buff to Pet, Shards, Worms Contract buff as Yama.

I’m fine with waves for like inferno and Colo, but to someone’s point earlier with doom it’s just annoying because you have to slog through boring early waves to do the fun fight. Which for a standalone boss doesn’t really work as well
yea should prob speed up the eariler waves in max gear. a lot of the delay comes from having to stop the charging attack or the extra shield phases which your waiting on grubs
Waves work really well for unlock content, because you’re building towards getting a completion to get a really good item. But for a boss that you’re continuously grinding I think the wave system just kind of detracts from the experience, especially when early waves aren’t that difficult

Cox wasn’t designed with the intention for 20 players to do it, it just was allowed to scale up because they didn’t want to limit participation. They didn’t even have 20 devs on the team at the time, let alone devs that could test the content

hey all, so if the mage cape upgrade was scrapped, what's the best reward from the delve? is it simply the confliction gauntlets and the avernic treads?
All 3 are very good for their respective use case.
Though i would do Boots>Gauntlets>Staff
Boots are an upgrade to 2 styles and saves you an inventory slot in places where you would bring 2 boots, or straight up buff you if you were using 2 styles but only 1 boot
gauntlets are +6 with shadow though, thats quite big
where the boots are just +3 (or +6 if you werent gonna bring eternals before) and 3 ranged str on top of that.
Staff spec still good some places, and well its a good item before shadow

The Yama contracts not being completable on day 1 is the type of things to ruin hype
doesnt really fix its jank pathing and other non sense, you also have no indication when the slams are going to happen. he also combos this with falling rocks + triple prayer flick which at 7+ is one tick and on wave 8 if you dont dps check it, you basically die as the path needs to soak 5 slams and you have 2 awakened leviathan level prayer flick orbs + movements. and unlike leviathan the orb path is not set and is subject to bull shit like rocks and acid pools.
the orb should probably move with fixed speed
and with true pathing
I try to drop rocks far away from the path as I can and run into the orb's path once the slam comes out

On paper, without owning a heart and using 2 pieces of virtus and 1 anc (no avernic treads yet either but yes eternals), it’s about the same dps as shadow on totems with forgotten brew
It has less range but less overkill and faster projectile is good
And you get punished less for bringing fewer switches
Overall good, maybe if sweating you bring both for attack range purposes
I'm glad it's actually doing its job as a shadow stepping-stone
I do have elid f though so maybe not the most typical setup

think i just had a glitch in the delve fight. I was on wave 5 and had 2 racecar phases, but during the 2nd one, shortly after the first dash, the yellow grub appeared and i went to dodge, but i was attacked by mokha with the large beam attack it does when charging up during shield phases
racecar is always charging up like shield phase

Just died last run because all the rocks were clustered in a corner so I could only guard 2 slams
hybrid boots ruining switchscape, jagex resorted to ammo swapping just for grubs
Also rocks aren't blocking behind them reliably
Boss mechanics are hard enough, just badly needs consistency
