#game-update
1 messages · Page 9 of 1
I think the guy got confused. They increased the denominator, which results in fewer drops
or yeah ^
hehe
its gonna be hard to keep its value
but i assume they know that and will make them hard af
goblin said in a reddit comment it's a piece "of your choosing". but goblin said a lot of things about contracts, and well,
He also said agility shortcut would be 82 😭
IMO, the existence of donofly combined with the overall drop rate is going to be the biggest reason for armour pieces flooding the market. Because methods like that make creating bots with consistency so much easier. Look at Bandos
more skill checks good
Yeah, but I did the grinding for it only to find out on release it's actually 83

je-je-jebaited
It's like he reached out from my monitor and somehow manually stubbed my toe
It's not a big thing in the long run, but like. Come on, man
yeah that was a lil fucked up
oh so the oathplate contract is just dry protection for irons that you can repeat until you win? 🙃
you think jagex has gotten reality checked by pvp spec pot yet
or are they still too focused on yama
lmao idk its bad for everyone if they dont change it
people can just rush you and if you die you die
in any bracket at this point
i guess you could argue you could get a protect melee up but
idk
They signed up for a nuclear arms race
Now that the nuclear weapons are strong enough they're gonna cry?
i legit think it was just total no thinking only pve dps
when they did spec pot lol
but hey i mean
i said it in here months before it existed
maybe more like weeks
im sure im not the only one either lol
I saw the writing on the walls too
I knew it was gonna be giga busted in pvp
This spec pot shows just how unbalanced pvp actually is, 25% more special attack is enough to make 200 hp possible to die through
i mean it was already insane but there was a play to make usually
but now you can just straight die from 115 hp and a triple eat
lmao
you would think jagex couldn't possibly be so insane they would let that happen
I doubt enough jagex staff understand pvp well enough to know this was gonna be a problem
but they basically just put that on the menu in any bracket especially for people using clients and ahk
Mod Redacted: Yeah it'll be cool for pvp and it will shake up the meta
tbh
the logic probably went something like
"well it was already technically possible even though it was impossibly rare so who cares if we just add in extra avenues to try and increase the likelihood that something like this could happen exponentially"
i died to chip damage in p3, should have never banked my locator orb and prayer regen for infinite redemptions
and then whoever thought that is now seeing what drastically increasing the likelihood of insane stacks actually looks like
and probably contemplating how to nerf it in pvp
they instead listened listened to the folks that said it would only be 6 extra damage per minute from zcb, as if burst and sustained damage are different use cases
this fight is impossible i dont understand the timing for when fireballs are finished dodging
think im gonna try these tiles instead
I go off sound fx
When you hear the fireball hit the ground then move. But also I dont make wide sweeping movements like that. I just move 1 tile for each set of fireballs.
i play without sound
play with sound then
it helps a ton for pvm
there's all sorts of useful musical/sound cues at bosses
those tiles are bad
Tbf, the playerbase also for some reason didnt think of it, since they voted it in. And it was so obvious
People too busy complaining their snowflakes were not going to get clues, to notice it
i voted no just cuz herblore req even though i wanted em for colo
why herblore combat stat now
im a main let me buy potions
wow shale has rlly crashed
atleast 3 youtubes made a video yesterday on how good the money was there, and told people to go mine
yeah, i saw 2 of those, soup and flipping old school
the money is gonna be in contracts i'm pretty sure
but i'm not confident enough that jagex wont change something tomorrow
so i wont buy just yet
yeh, contracts depend on how easy/hard the fight is, and if jagex ends up increasing the amount of contracts from Yama
daily volume of the cosmetic contracts is enough for like 3 peoples attempts lol
so far in 148 solos, ive had 3 pet contracts and 1 cosmetic contract
8 dossiers
cosmetic is about 1/120 to get ANY cosmetic contract
recolor for oath i mean
and you need to do all 5
yeh irons who wants it, will have to farm the regular demons thats for sure
i'm really tempted to go all in with my cash stack but i'm waiting til tomorrow
and god forbid they fail the contract
it's like 20x worse than orbs
yeh, i feel like they announced it as a better way than the orbs, but i guess having regular people farm them increases the amount? not so sure
they anticipated a lot more coming into game from regular people farming demons
Yeh, jagex pushed the update planned for today to tommorrow. Because they wanted to balance the contracts more
i'm so tempted to go in on contracts but if jagex has a brain and preemptively changes things
i could lose so much
so like... it's 50/50
It feels like jagex had some really oddly balanced expectations for this entire update tbh
I definitely think they expected more people power farming demons, and for the base fight to be more challenging
It's like they just rehashed mossy keys except tradeable and higher stakes
nobody wants to afk greaters, they want to do the boss
pay 80m every time u wanna do the boss. only costs 20 pounds in bonds above base membership cost to do 1 boss fight
this was the response I got when I sent a refund request over the new pay to play model a few weeks ago
i hope they fix awakeners orbs soon
Seems like you didnt want to stop playing though
does it?
almost all of my engagement osrs is complaining in here or on reddit, its turned from a fun hobby into a source of stress. idk why it seems to u like it hasnt impacted my desire to keep playing
Well i dont follow your reddit adventure, but i have seen your post in here, the pictures you post seem to show yourself being logged in to the game quite a bit.
I dont think jagex cares much if you bank stand, plank at bosses or play the game in any other way though in terms of active players
oh speaking of pictures
if dossier guarantees death charge after 100 kc
shouldnt i just get carried to 100 kc even with no contribution
and then get 1 dossier if i havent already
maybe jagex will add a npc for me to de-ironmain tomorrow
Thats a 20 hour grind, longer than void
Assuming 5 min runs due to no contribute
Pretty sure you need to do 15% or something for the kill count as a real kill.
But who knows if the kc from sub 15% kills count
i dont even find the boss fun, just want the upgrade for colo so i can forget its even in the game. wasnt polled for it to be untradeable
The thing i find funny is
Things will get added to the game
And despite people living without this stuff for years
The complaints of need and greed still kick in
Interestingly enough, the rewards poll said "tradeable" for the catalysts, worms, oathplate, tallow and the soulflame horn.
It said "untradeable" for surge potions.
But the question regarding death charge doesn't mention either of those words.
It just says "unlockable upgrade"
yeh i checked the same.
Some unlocks in this game are tradeable, like the cox prayers, and some unlocks are not, but usually not given as a drop i believe
the worst precedent is the ancient sceptre which is like 1/50
I guess its very much the same as Titan prayers, which arent tradeable, but it just doesnt seem like there is a "rule" for the wording unlockable
Upgrades something you already have into a better version? Untradeable
Unlocks a new thing (cox prayers)? Tradeable
Idk tho
I think its healthy for the game not everything can be bought, so something requires you to do content for an upgrade.
But i also think its important that you can buy upgrades, as that really is the main way to progress
That might be it.
That fits with the Ancient sceptre, since its an upgrade.
But it doesnt fit with Dragon hunter lance
But the lance is tradeable
I'm not following tbh
"Upgrades something you already have into a better version? Untradeable"
You said this
thats what im building on
Oh shit I forgot the lance requires a zhasta lol
I see that as more of crafting a new item completely though. Kinda like ferocious gloves
Either way, it's not consistent
Yeh
It seems like its mainly up to the team who produce the content how they want the items.
And i think it makes sense that you can buy all the gear it drops, but the permanent unlock for your account requires you to do the content
Makes sense except for cox prayers.
I think it's okay for things to not be universally consistent though
Yeh and the team back then just decided thats how they wanted the prayers, which you say is okay
Yeah. And cox was so long ago, so much has changed
Tbh if it came out today, the prayers would probably be untradeable lol
They might have been, but they also set a precedent for the raids to have some of the best items beside megarares to be the easier to get items
Even looking at toa, rune pouch upgrade being untradeable
And the gems, but those aren't really relevant lol
Any update on the firemaking bonfire xp change from poll 84? @vague viper
i swear i remember a jmod saying that its done, but they didnt want to ship much unrelated stuff with the yama update, just to be safe
Ah okay, thanks. Been waiting near a month for this update.
yeah the timing with yama coming out is unfortunate for us bonfire enjoyers haha
your tiles are fine your skill is not also pls go do wgs lmao lol
u think these tiles are fine?
its 2 tiles ahead of the usual wave skip
yes those tiles will easy skip
after fireballs drop there's a big hourglass shadow
i used those when maging
after you see those, then you can move back to reset tile or w/e you're doing
i just sold all my mage gear im gonna use arclight and learn to get back into cycle after trident of the seas->ahrims staff demonbane to kill flares
your timing was off and youyr clicks are not accurate
do fucking wgs lol
you are shooting yourself in the face
yeah go do the quest
also i perosnally prefer these tiles if you care
once the shadow walls intersect on top tile, you click top tile
then reset south tile after you dodge
you can freely make a purging staff an sell it once done
but yeah i didnt realize your previous clips were without purge staff, go get that
youve spent 4 days at yama using ineffective methods, instead of doing a 45 minute quest
actually morelike 6 days
dont have reqs, i didnt even finish hand in the sand after 12 hours and 3+ people calling me a troll
Do you not know of thos glorious plugin called quest helper
rly? i literally made up those tiles myself to dodge hourglass by running 2 tiles, and skip 2 tiles forward so im always in range of flares
this is how it went
Also if all you do is colo what does your setup look like?
consistent GM time with 180m setup #game-questions message
oh thats the wrong file
anyway im serious that i just sold my mage gear
gonna try melee later
I thought maybe you were a pure until i saw the virtus. Wgs is an hour just knock it out. You will want purging for mistakes and long cycles even doing donofly
its ahrims
additionally you sort of want the emberlight upgrade even with melee lol
honestly if i were you i would have just stuck with wgs and mage since purging staff you don't need to charge/corrupt
but if you're not willing to do wgs anyway then glgl
You can buy 2 synpase and make emberlight and purging, get your deathcharge and sell it.
if all you do is colo then you should be prett rich as colo consistently done is some of the best money in the game
Also dossier is not 100% chance to get deathcharge, i think i got teleports on my first lmao.
jagex be scamming
its 100% chance once you hit 100 kc
oh really
someone carry me to 100 kc while i addy cbow yama?
You need to do 15% of the damage or else you get demon shit as a drop
how many ruby bolts is that
actually tho? wanna sign a contract?
wgs and purchase purging staff and we send tonight
the moment you complain about something though im out
its 9pm and im missing 5 preqreqs for wgs
perfect, im about to start 8hour work shift
also though, if game is stressing you out - i suggest not really playing it
idk if i misinterpreted your previous statements or what but seems a bit silly
Aether rune crafting is extremely expensive for irons if you use scar ess XD
400 gp + soul + the catalyst
👀
it just speeds it up yeh, doesnt give you extra aether runes
so i guess its a choice lol
Ya it speeds it up by a fuck ton though
for sure
was able to smash out 250 kc worth of yama catalsy in two trips
tbf, if you are at a point on an iron where you are doing yama, you probably have more gp than you will need
oh for sure, i around 1b cash that i would end up spending on runes lol
I wonder how soon they will release more sources of aether runes
probably never imo
Ehh i dont think we need it. yama is a good source.
you get a shit ton
They were very picky about the name, because they wanted it to be dropped by multiple sources
but they should like fix up his basic table a bit and QOL of the fight to be more smooth
so it couldnt have like a demon or angel name, so it wouldnt fit the content
those, tallow and bait will be used up pretty quickly i feel, and its never fun to go back to a boss you have the drops from, so farm resources
I wouls say more worms should drop, less tallow, remove the cut gems??, get rid of supply drops stealing a roll. remove 1 of the d dart rolls in the lockbox. get rid of law runes, remove all alchables.
i dont remember seeing this tbh, are you sure this is true?
but yeah either way its going to be along time probably, you still get a shit ton - adding it to another source would just decrease gp/hr at yama
Very sure, they had a whole post about it in here somewhere.
And they asked for names, and jmod comments was about how many of the suggested names didnt make sense, since it was very angelic names for a demon drop
right but what does that have to do with it dropping from multiple sources
not wanting angelic name is because he's a demon
demon-ish
Like runes get used up fast i feel
idk mark of darkness lasts 5 minutes and it takes 1 aether rune right?
One of the comments about the name finding, was that it should fit not just demons dropping them
Will it only be used for mark of darkness though? one of the common runepouches is for both Thralls and Death charge.
Those 2 spells dont use both runes, but if you want to use those 2 spells, you need 5 runes, or use the aether rune to bring it down to 4 for the pouch
using the rune to save an inventory space seems like the most common use for it
idk im not convinced the rune is even that great tbh but i also don't care about ditching a switch at content so i have +1 invo slot instead of giving myself more chores
as iron*
Its actually really good.
IE in chambers you can now bring death charge, thralls and vile vigour without losing a inventory slot
so you can death charge off monsters/olm hands
and not need light bearer
yeah but again i dont care about losing invo slot, i've got 28 of them
the point of the rune is to save an inventory spot at places where you would bring both death charge and thralls
which is a lot of places
You might not, but a lot do, and thats why the runes will be used up faster than the 5min mark of darkness only used at yama content
Its pretty huge
yeah idk i dont ever really use thralls or deathcharge either
i can see the value for others but i personally would never go out of my way to make sure i had them at all times
unless i could just buy them
A bit flabbergasted atm ngl
yama is actually the first place ive used thralls consistently lol
Not convinced its great, because you dont use some of the most overpowered spells, is not the best way to argue imo
But fair
well again, saving 1 invo slot for a rune that doens't give damage buff seems a bit dumb unless you're actually struggling with invo slots
which i am not
but i also dont play the game doing gearcheck dps calcs and swapping gear and bringing an extra switch for 0.0001 dps increase - ill just drop the item and bring and extra rune if needed
💀
again, if i could just buy them as a main I could see value, but its obviously not a requirement otherwise people wouldn't have been using those spells together in the first place
Well in chambers for example, not having an extra brew or restore could = death lol
ive never had that issue so idk
If olm decides to say hey fuck you
Surely thralls at olm
and every auto he gets is a jad
Also this is criminal
why cant i empty this in my bank lol

that is criminal
but carry on
lock me up, i'm having too much fun!
Should unironically be locked up for not thralling solo olm
Thralls and new death charge are incredibly strong. And you're an iron, so the flat .667 dps add is going to feel even stronger when your base dps is lower than a main at some places.
This and Spider Egg Sac
This shit is nasty
We knew double DC would be fantastic in places, but it is nasty
toss a chin at tightrope mobs
+30 spec

(now make olm's hands count toward dc to be giga busted)
Its so good. Like I was skipping orbs in solo yamas but I'm starting to lean back towards the consistency and hella extra spec of killing them
Granted killing orbs is 14 ticks, no shot 30 spec makes up for that
Yeah and no concerns of getting meteored is nice
Solos have a solid amount of risk taking and decisions in loadout, its really well balanced
oh olm hands dont? this was my main use case 😦
Olm is already getting ripped up by oathplate and the new mage % buff this summer
Leave him be
Nah gimmie that death charge
Hands die, i should be allowed to get spec. i planned to use this so i can bin the light bearer and bring ultor or bellator
no they do not
did u not notice
olm is getting pounded hard
2 surge doses, oathplate, etc.
How hand come back up if die?
Surely its part of tomorrows update
No its a new guy

They look totally diff
"All demons look the same" in 2025, the hateful audacity
I never brought in death charge, because it would require an additonal inventory slot.

Im not a master Coxer or anything lol.
I mean im like 40 min CM solo kinda guy lol
I got to the point i can just do mini-prep over a full prep and finish olm now.
I guess if i can somehow do vanguards with no supply i can no prep
But it would require ZGS to not miss. as mutadile is either 0 food or 8 brews
Wait this makes torva helm more than the plate now, because it takes 3 plates to repair it compared to 1 of the helm lol.
just let us combine torva and oathplate for undegradable toathplate
I mean there is no way they didnt think this would have 0 impact on torva??
just let us combine every single melee armor set into the super omega ultra set
they must be trying to kill nex lol
Why stop at melee only
torvquitiosiarplate
I havnt used them but i have 1400 tallow, so i maybe should lol.
Waiting to see if they do anything tomorrow
they only
fucked up multi lines with it
changed the entire pvp meta
from what I can tell speeds are something with them
the whole 3 people who pvp are surely upset
I mean I dont pvp but when you are hitting over 200 with 130% spec bar
thats not even tick eatable

That was already possible
and its an issue with stuff like gmaul which they dont seem to want to fix
atlatl gmaul nox
Like hey an instant follow up after a auto is prob not balanced guys lol
Avernic jumpsuit
ancy 3.0 that lets you now get range and mage benefits

but requires masori (f) and ancy 2.0
yes yes
I don't pvp, but when the best players can't survive getting rushed... it's probably worth changing
No... and im not bias on this at all. for sure.
2 tbows. no complaining
at least with ancy 2.0, you'll be done with 2 ancy tops or 6 ancy cloths (1:3:2 breakdown)
You only need 1
dupe mitigation
True, bring it on. getting unduped ancestral is like pain. its longer grind than tbow on average lol.
Virtus was a god send for me
while we are at it. lets add new ancy, and slip in overloads
It allowed me to have ancestral for everything but shadow lol
raids 4 will have contracts 2.0
they drop as orbs that you trade with contract vendors that roll random affixes for random rewards
that are 1nd

NGL if the did awakener orbs 2.0 and botched it this bad. i fear for the future.
Id rather they just cont to make content like fortis/inferno that has basically no modifications and is just naturally difficult.
not wrong
not a fan of this rougelike gameplay approach
I dont need my fight or farm to change in differences between each run
I need to be granted access to even attempt it in the first place XD
Not go farm greater demons for a entry key
poll question be like: "Should we create a new armor that takes Virtus, breaks it down and combines it with Ancestral and fragments from the new boss to make new armor, while also removing the defense requirement from Chivalry"
Gotta sneak that chivarly and moving the vls out of bounty hunter.
Vls outside of bh with the pots might actually get wildy deleted
I'm so glad people put their foot down about vls
Jagex would not let that damn thing go
Its a dds without the accuracy weakness of a dds lol
I want to see some corny double death charge plus spec pot 155 damage combos
Cant hit below 20% of your max, up to 120% and it ignores 75% of your armor, and you can now spec 5 times in a row

5 specs
We need ancient godsword into venator bow two npcs into voidwaker > maul
leave that shit in bh
Actually, staring at this
It looks like they just changed vls a little and gave us fang

Fang was a fix for nex
WTF
ahh missngo
someone correct me if i'm wrong but to adapt this method to demonbane+trident cast (doable with sub 50k gear & takes 10 ticks longer) it looks like you just go to 1 after and walk instead of run to 2 after attacking? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_71HmJ8a1nw
For the people who asked about more than 1 jelly :) First jelly is 56 ticks into the cycle everyone after that will be 70 ticks after leading to the same solve on every jelly after first

You can ground ...
Please do the quest
what quest
Wgs
Imp Catcher
i dont have reqs
Get them
how
With your mouse and keyboard
i cant use a mouse due to disability
pretty confident that should work tho just requires dodging 1 fireball while maging
try it and see!
ill try it in a few days, sold my mage gear and dont have arclight charges
why does no1 redirect this to the general chat
20 decillion lesser demons for a single radiant contract
I wonder how much the delve boss orbs will cost
I have so far killed about ~1.6k black demons (all on-style) for 5 contracts
shits a scam
If they continue with this entry key crap. my motivation to play will hit rock bottom. maybe i will finally be free.
7362964682 octillion imps for delve boss orb
If you need to sink GP, then put a GP cost on the entry payable with death's coffer.
Stop adding tradeable entry keys that drop from the content
or if you do then make them common
funny how camping greaters is just better money
Do we have an idea on contract drop rates yet
I know I saw some about 1/100 ish
But does it vary by demon type
Guy in clan just started doing them and he's getting a contract once very like 15 minutes. Idk if mega lucky or what
this is honestly criminal
I was saying this earlier
Which demon is the best for contracts anyone know?
I saw a clog that was a bit under 1/100 for black demons
Issue is jagex is trying to take the gp from the high level giga rich players and redistribute it among the med level players which in theory is amazing the down side is it basically locks most people out from ever trying the content
Has there been any visibility on the compost bin issues that started this past week?
even this is kinda strange to me, because oathplate/horn contracts serve the reverse purpose
Also like is killing demons really the content you wanna incentivise lower lvl players to do
of funneling a shit ton of money to the wealthiest/best players
since they're the only ones who can stomach the up-front cost of learning the content to profit from it
Those contracts only drop from yama tho
And a lot of the time stuff that is outside your comfort zone and doesn’t look fun ends up being really fun but if you never are going to try the content then it’s kinda dead
Yeah it still has the same concept just more so for players who are capable of doing the boss but aren’t super rich
i dont like gauranteed tradeable drops at all, it's so silly
yeah yama feels like dt2 2.0 in a lot of ways
they cooked up a million experimental new ideas and as a result a lot of them didn't get the scrutiny, time and space they needed to be fully refined
i've said my piece about it so ill hope they listen
i mean it's pretty telling that there were 7 contracts planned 5 days before release, and by release day, there were 11 dropped into the game, lmao
not a surprise contract rates ended up fucked, they didn't even have a final tally of how many they were gonna add until very late
I was kinda ight with it for the pet
But I agree on tradeable items is dumb it has way to many issues
Yeah IDK how they got from one cosmetic contract to 5
And like didn't up the rate
Irons gonna be crying if they're dry on one of the5
Basically guaranteeing to fuck over iron man compared to 1
Just gotta pray it’s not the you have to kill a demon with a special attack weapon
It's crazy how the system is just so much worse
i mean there was always plans for there to be multiple radiant oathplate contracts (or at least, it was there from the initial contracts blog like 5 days before release, at least)
Than orbs
When it was suppose to be better
It’s legit worse than orbs in every way
I do find the implementation beyond frustrating though yeah
The blog prior to release said 7 contracts, and also was very explicit that there would be multiple Radiant Oathplate contracts and those were the ones farmable in the Chasm.
And the only reason I'm not plowing my entire bank into contracts is thinking there's a chance jagex realizes
It just didn't say how many unique Radiant Oathplate contracts there were, I doubt anyone expected 5, lmao
maybe? But like I said, it was always very explicit there was more than 1 radiant oathplate contract
8:34am - Contract of divine severance
8:40am - Contract of divine severance
8:56am - Contract of bloodied blows
9:41am - Contract of sensory clouding
9:58am - Contract of sensory clouding
10:17am - Contract of divine severance
11:30am - Contract of divine severance
11:41am - Contract of bloodied blows
11:52am - Contract of divine severance
12:03am - Contract of sensory clouding
1:29pm - Contract of forfeit breath
5 divine severance
3 sensory clouding
2 bloodied blows
1 forfeit breath
in 4.5 hours
Ya I remember that
idk man, seems a bit better than orbs
Maybe they will change it do be only 1 contact needed to for oath of the 5 not all 5
Nah the text is very clearly you need all 5
The loot is a piece
For each contract iirc
Also all 11 contacts being solo is dumb asf , can keep kit ones solo but others should not be
So many issues with this system
Yeah why I said “change”
Oh didn't catch that
I doubt that tbh
They'll up the demon drop rate
Or maybe change dossier
Before they do that I think
5 fits the whole pentagram thing
Goblin has hinted at it I think on Reddit
But rn if you green log the boss it works out to 3 of each contract on avg
That’s so troll for Ironman who don’t have alts
Better than DT2 at least, you have to greenlog 4 bosses to hit rate for the virtus set
Lmao its not quite that bad but yeah it’s definitely not common. If I recall correctly Sae bae finished the rings and the SRA axe and was 0/3 but pet hunters tend to finish with several sets
I think it would be fair if it was more inline with completing the axe ( did not look at it much as I personally spooned the set )
For a 'stepping stone' upgrade, they sure made it the most frustrating thing to farm out other than nightmare

Just about everything with DT2's drops was an unmitigated disaster
I was lucky enough to get full virtus with no dupes on my SRA grind
The hidden 3 rolls is sour
I think it's hilarious that it's overall good dry mitigation
I don't mind the hidden rolls
it's spoon protection as well lol
Bye bye 3 rolls
Yeah spoon and dry protection is ok imo
Though just making it like nox hally probably better
Only drop you can lose progress on getting via double death
Between 3 rolls, chromium ingots, virtus being giga fucking rare for basically no reason and awakeners orbs, they fucked up a lot in 1 update
I kinda don't mind SRA as much
Whisperer is just ass
Sra is ok for keeping the value high
And being a mini quest
Also mitigates bots some
Cuz most get banned before finishing the axe
I still think SRA could use another little buff
like more crush bonus or make stacks last a few seconds longer
you lose a stack in the time it takes to run to vardorvis after hitting the piggy
virtus rates are fine tbh, they just suck for ironmen bc of dupes
if they dropped like virtus fabric or smth that could be made into pieces and had rates adjusted accordingly they'd be no issue at all for ironmen
ingots were hilarious though, again, they just cooked way too many experimental things in 1 update and didn't fully think all of them through, lol
at least they had the sense to just neuter ingots
honestly just make them consumable at this point to tell you how many vestige rolls you have
Lol
I mean virtus is an absolute joke lol
I have all the rings and the axe on my iron and 0 virtus
I have full ancestral instead
Funny thing is it was all for nothing the whole set is barely around 100m
Do NOT give that dragon arrow guy any ideas
Ya but the cost is so high that even the giga rich are not gonna interact with it lol
I dont even know why jagex is so stuck on that idea
It's not like you can't make gp anymore or something lol there are a million ways to make tons of gp
I have no ancestral and love my virtus, dont disrespect my budget cox skip.
Idk why they want to ruin content to increase the gp/hr by 10%
The craziest part about it is that the economy is already a joke
The economy in this game more stable than most mmos tbf
This economy functions off vibes
Very much
If you simply play this game and do content you will make enough money to buy the things you want
Like lol
Loud and clear, on my way to trouble brewing
It would be different if it was actually impossible but
it functions off bots.
Moment bots get nuked from a piece of content, the drops from it sky rocket.
It feels more like how in wow super casual world questers want mythic raid item level gear but don't go get it
Then act like they can't progress
So I imagine someone out there wants a scythe but doesn't do content that would let you buy one or get the drop
And jagex does a great job controling bots
Then complain they can't make gp
better than they used to
This is why playing an iron is the superior game mode tho for a lot of people
Simply go get the drop gameplay lol no contemplating how many hours of whatever content to buy loot
"If I grind vorkath for 40 hours...or work 2 and buy bonds...."
Offical sd/hd updates > api and plugin support > chop runelite > bots are killed
This is what i think the timeline looks like
Thats the logic i hear everytime i see someone say they need a bond lol
what kind of vork kills are you getting if getting 2 bonds worth takes 40 hours
ofc
Just hyperbole yeah
It becomes super easy to rationalize skipping wage slave grinding with buying bonds
Thats why I went iron
My normie hasn't pvm'd a fraction that my iron has
bots are back within weeks
You forgot the last part :p
Tldr the only reason they fork runelite is because it's convenient to decompile with no effort
yeah lets not pretend that it will destroy botting forever but let's also not pretend like it'll have no impact
I never did micro transactions in games
Before runelite existed though they did it themselves
yeah ig but at least for me that would take away all sense of accomplisment and I'd probably quit within a week
And will again i mean they're a business
Theyre not gonna go out like that basically
Don't think they'd chop RL tbh. At least not anytime soon. Would be wayyy too controversial
they won't do it until the official client is in a good place
It did. That's why I quit my normie
can't wait for next batch of client updates
Tbh idk if jagex is even ready for bots to be gone
If they actually succeeded they will have to update the game to work for mains lol
1m banned bots fo far this year btw
Bots are back in force RN it feels
I can see within 3 years requiring the official client and whatever added anti-cheat. I dont want runelite banned
Blood shards 10m
mains would have to play the game
Wonder how long until we see demon bots for contracts
Bots exist on offical clients in many games. this is not a solvable problem by just axing runelite lol
The tiniest of requirements
I bet they already exist
They haven't scaled up yet
There are a lot of mobile bots already
If they do
which is a offical jagex client basically
It's just an arms race with no end
Its not solveable but pretending like an official client with proper anti-cheat doesnt severly hamper the more complicated bots is not genuine
You have games that are basically Spyware with kernel level anticheat and people still aim bot in those games
I mean the biggest reason for official client, IMO, is to have a reasonable option instead of basically relying entirely on 3rd party
And yeah runelite could go down/quit at any moment
Pre official client releases, id be terrified as jagex
Official client absolutely won't fix bots
People thinking it will are living off cope
Not that he will, but adam could hypothetically just call it quits one day and hes earned it
mhmm
nope, jagex basicall owns runelite
Nobody would like it
no one really thinks that killing runelite would fix botting, but it has made botting more accessible than ever
Because it would take the one method of attack the botters cannot defend against
id say its more advanced scripts and technology, than runelite itself.
Which is destroying the motivation to buy gold to begin with in some way
Like disabling free trade
Thats how you actually own them
Wow what a great idea let's do that instead
Hm that's assuming that people only bot to make money
But players will get caught in the crossfire
Ironman woulda saved old runescape before eoc killed it.
removal of trade was bad, but mainly because there wasnt systems in place or really anyone out exploring the game outside of pking lol
I think a combination of being present and lacking free trade would end botting as we know it
The other botting problem we had was a result of jagex being absent to the point that regular players
Were botting to level up and it was common knowledge lol
Because jagex was getting killed by osbuddy before they were osbuddy
Lmao it's actually crazy how osbuddy was a full on botting operation that sold people clients before osrs existed
And we somehow accepted them as a regular client after that for osrs
I remember the day free trade came back, GE was instantly flooded with gambling bots and scammers
Can we get WASD working for those who are playing the vanilla client?
oh man flashbacks to trade limit, what was it, 5k or 50k max difference? it was wild lol. adding random junk to beef up prices
hell yea hahah
it was so nice not having to worry about getting scammed
or having "friends" droptrade your bank
with the trade limit changes, didnt we get the weird activity/bounty changes to pking where you would get random stuff
and then that ended up getting botted/abused
yeah 76king was jank as hell
76king oh yeaaa lmao
i hated it so much
i remember getting 5-10m drops from low risks, and from actual risk fights getting like 200k drops. it suckeeed
there was also like a chance to get a piece of gear people were risking but no idea what the odds were
only part i liked about revs ngl. wildy felt scary
there were a lot of jank things back then that were really fun
lending system that was totally broken
lending phats lol
Squeel of fortune is also a core memory of me. ill never forget that day how my bank basically got disintegrated in value. hate it still
a divine shield went from 750m to 300m in matter of minutes since now there were "lucky divine spirit shield" im still traumatized at the losses i took 😂
anyways back to topic; do we know anything about update tomorrow? i got 2 dossiers but im holding on opening idk if thats wise 😛
cant hurt to hold them but probably wont matter
Only way it would hurt to hold is if the contracts mega crash in price tomorrow
Do with that what you will
i mean, opening dossiers won't do anything unless they change drop rate
as in, change the mix of stuff you get from it
there's been no talk about doing that
if you open it now, won't matter
if they make dossiers more rare, but don't change the actual ratio of stuff in it, doesn't matter if you open it now or later
Hopes are horn claw bs removed, surge pots turned off in pvp, armor drop rate nerfed.
i mean they can do a couple of things
and if they're remotely sane something like this will happen
they will either buff the drop rate on the dossier by an absolute shit ton
or they'll change the amount of stuff inside of it
they might come up with some additional method to accomplish the same goal but basically they're going to have to buff the rate contracts are coming into the game
by a lot
otherwise you're going to actually get a bunch of end game players slaying black demons for days/weeks lol and the backlash that will come with it
maybe contracts could also have multiple uses
like you get one and its 5 attempts at the boss etc
Surely they remove teles from dossiers
i doubt that very much
they're a scroll
it's just a junk drop to balance the other drops
if anything, the contracts are too common rn
Maybe that would make sense if the drop rates on contracts weren’t tremendously awful
What about the boss, which is what we’re talking about here
so yeah, contracts are common enough i should say
Contract rates should never be balanced on assuming you’re going to kill tens of thousands of demons
It’s just an awful premise whether you’re a main or an iron
And if the argument becomes, “go kill demons in the chasm for money,” I don’t think that’s a good outcome either
it's already something like 2k solo kills to finish armor on rate, so from that point of view i don't really think it needs to be more rare, but the price doesn't seem to be holding up very well in just a week, so maybe it does not help
it should be balanced around "how do you get them"
and "how plentiful are they"
they seem reasonably plentiful right now
i don't really see a problem
what is the problem?
Where td are you getting 2k lol
1/40 for a contract from the boss is insane
3 1/600s does not equal 1/2000
They proposed them as being more common than orbs
Not even considering shards
I’d have to math it rq but definitely less than 1k yeah
i wasn't trying to be precise, and i wasn't thinking about shards
Its less than 1k to finish, without shards
i don't really know what the shards do, haven't paid much attention to em
oh that's cool
what would you prefer to be the expected kc to completion instead?
i don't see why that's a problem
I’d understand rarer armor
is this from an iron perspective? i don't see why contracts need to be more common from the boss
Probably closer to 1200-1500 with shards to be in line with something like ultor
what does it hurt them being more rare
yeah 1 in 2k is absolutely insane
you could craft 3 items with shards before 2k solos
sorry completion in 2k*
lmao
1 in 2k for what?
The armor is significantly cheaper than masori at 1 week out.
Its the same concept as awakeners orb being too rare which makes them expensive=not accessible
thats because of shards just about 100%
well, one was a raid, and this is a boss you can duo in less than 3 minutes
its like if you could trade your dt2 ring rolls
legit crowd sourced luck protection
oh, i see
i don't mind a cosmetic being expensive tho
the shards were a weird move
guy kills yama 700 times and crafts an armor piece? sure he was dedicated
They are equally accessible and can be solod
i get the logic behind them, but i don't see why this level of dry protection was needed
you can't do toa in 3 minutes
or at least i can't
From the very baseline, challenging content shouldn’t be gatekept by a consumable to begin with. You don’t pay an invoc token from a 300 to try a 500 ToA. You shouldn’t need to use a consumable to challenge yourself and do difficult content. Entering argument.
Secondly, yes, I am an iron, and they somehow made a system that is worse than awakener’s orbs while claiming a stated intent directly to the contrary.
Third, the primary means of getting them should be from the boss itself, or at the very least, making them more common from the boss wouldn’t make a significant impact if they’re already way more accessible from demons
And as a result masori is not 1/600 raids bro???
there's no need to get excited
In 500s it’s like a 1/90 chance for each individual masori piece
tbh i think their entire premise behind trying to gatekeep attempting challenging content is actually some of the most annoying game design i've ever seen the actual osrs dev team create
Masori plummets harder than oathplate over a long time because there is no 1 bil drop keeping people at yama. But id like oathplate to atleast maintain 50/100/100m price
Have you done blorva? Just curious
but it's just a cosmetic, and i don't mind that it becomes a way for people who aren't interested in the cosmetic being able to sell items at good prices to people who do want the cosmetic
I haven’t talked to a single person who’s done blorva that would say we should ever do anything remotely adjacent to orbs ever again
the whole idea is just not fun bottom line
people really like the inferno its challenging, free to attempt with very low requirements and offers basically no gp reward
Even if it doesn’t take you hundreds of orbs, it doesn’t make the content any better - it pretty much does the opposite
people love it though and keep going and trying to get better
I mean, the mains in my circle with blorva are fine with orbs, irons fucking hate it
thats what challenging content should be
Actively discourages people from doing it and trying hard content
Actively makes you pay a price to try something new
“Are fine with” or “think they’re good?” big difference
yeah, i don't know any main with blorva who cares about orbs at all
that's just anecdotal
like as the game designer they should be extremely aware of what people actually have fun doing
it doesn't really matter how the people i know feel at all
Was the idea behind orbs to transfer wealth from ppl attempting blorva to other people to drive the gp/h up of the dt2 bosses because it didnt work with dt2
things like the inferno put things like blorva on blast
I mean its fun to shoot the shit and compare how much spent per boss on orbs.
I dunno where the 2k number came from, I tried mathing it out quickly and got a median of about 950kc to complete a set
But ofc human nature is that lose money bad
we didnt even need to make any gp/hr to find the inferno compelling its just one cape upgrade and people keep going back even after getting it
thats what fun looks like
people also really like colosseum, which does have a gp reward, and a financial punishment if you die
they are very different things, both popular
A big part of this is because the price actively deters people from ever trying it unless they have so much surplus wealth they don’t care about the cost much if at all. Which is very bad design.
I want more one and dones, however most people do their cape and maybe send a very rare task if that
i don't know a single person who's at the point of the game where he feels he can do blorva who didn't do it because of the cost
you just grind the gp, same as anything else
like, not a single person
Blorva is 1000% fuck you money goal
you're about to see thousands of them
This shouldn’t be an “at that point later I’ll try it” thing
why shouldn't it be?
odablock would pause at buying the contracts for completing the oathplate tmog atm
It should be, “I think I can be good enough to challenge myself at this hard content and get a reward”
I am putting it off cuz cost. I would be im rags with my mega rares if i potted today
isn't inferno the same? you're not doing inferno if you've only got a master wand and a rune crossbow, most of the time
you wait until you feel you've progressed to a certain point
i don't see a problem with that
i don't know anyone going for blorva who isn't at the point of raiding, and i think that's fine
I know plenty of people who do though in budget gear, specifically because it’s a very low cost
if it's gatekeeping, that is to say, it's a type i'm okay with
thats not really the same thing
Im ok with SOME flex items that are hey i have fuck you money and im goated with the gamer skills. We dont need more than blorva tho
Raiding is a very low threshold.
you dont get the gear and the skills to be confident in attempting the inferno then say wait no
this costs too much per attempt
better make more money first
which is what happens with blorva
If blorva didn’t have a fee associated with it, would more people challenge themselves to do it
Yes or no
If yes, that’s inherently bad design to gatekeep an interesting and challenging content
yeah people would obv
the premise does not guarantee the conclusion
i don't think this is a good argument
i mean its just a fact people would try
I don’t see how there are any good arguments in favor of orbs/contracts by the same token
if your argument follows, that means anything at all that discourages someone from doing content is bad
which cannot be true
Big difference between “this entry consumable isn’t the worst thing in existence” and “this is a positive feature”
there may be an argument that justifies your position, but this isn't one
Its personal prefence. Design wise an mmo is an ok place to create a comestic item that is both a money/time sink and requires high skill.
yeah, for me the cost of blorva is fine, perhaps other people feel it is too much
i do not know any of them myself, but i don't know every body
the only people i see consistently complaining about blorva are irons
I think the cosmetic is kinda immaterial to the fact that content exists which people are directly discouraged from attempting and doing
i don't happen to generally share iron concerns
i mean that does put on blast how the content actually works
if a player has to go interact with each step directly and comes back and most of them are like
yo this is ass
that kinda tells you something
this assuming solos, i.e. 1/600 droprate. For FFA duos, assuming equal contribution we're looking at closer to 1900 kc. Maybe that's where the 2k kc came from
irons complain about a lot of things that simply being able to use the ge avoids, so a lot of their concerns do not resonate with me
ymmv
Hey my guess of under 1k was good
maybe but
I think a lot of irons have bad complaints too tbh and I usually vote no to iron catering but I think there’s a substantial difference between that and actively gatekeeping content for precisely no positive benefit to the game at large
at 2k kc in duos you would likely be very close to crafting 2 oathplate items
Probably
Blorva is fine. Nobody wants to grind the "content" of awakened vard kcs and it wasnt made to be. I get your point that maybe u just wanna pot for fun, but many games dont let you repeat bosses at all lol
so like
The dry protention system here is pretty nice imo
The benefit—which you may not think of as one—is to make it more prestigious
odds are people are going to pull 2 different oathplate items a long time before that
and a horn
and craft that last item
I would say that an artificial cost is the worst way to make something more prestigious
Just make it harder instead
like im actually dry as shit at yama lol and i have oathplate legs anyways
about to hit 700kc
i'll be done a long time before 2k
When I see someone holding a 3a pick, I know he either got a massively lucky drop or had 14b (or whatever it is at the moment) to spend on a cosmetic that he's just casually holding
Now that might not mean anything to some people
But it's definitely the reason that people stand around with 3a picks
It's because, one way or another, it's hard to get
It's "gatekept"
I would say that person is either vain or very lucky and got a cool item. I don’t really care at all if a main buys one
i kinda think the game progressed past caring about that
I suppose it's up to everyone individually to decide what he thinks is good gatekeeping and what's bad gatekeeping
we have skill based achievements to show off
they're just flexing how much time they wasted by showing gp
Sure, you can look at it that way
I don't think most people do
But maybe they do!
I personally think it's cool to have hard-to-get things, and a 3a pick is certainly hard to get
it was different when your time sink was sort of the only thing to show off
Blorva is also hard to get, and so will the radiant oathplate armor, it seems like
but now its like
lol idk you're just worried about their mental health more so than being impressed by their expensive item
I don't worry about people's mental health based on their accomplishments in the game
i think theres some context to it too like
i have a lot of gp and i know how much i've played this game
so when i see people that actually have like crazy sums like 30b+
i have to be a little worried lol
I agree that the game has moved past being impressed by 3a or other cosmetics you see in the wild
I can't see it anyway with my entity hider on
its like when you max maybe more than once and really know what you're looking at when someone has 200m all
lmao its pretty scary
They are like the moms who got to the final level of candy crush
I suppose my summarized argument is that if Jagex intends to put time into making meaningful, engaging challenges, they should be “gatekept” by skill and difficulty, not accessibility, price, killing tens of thousands of demons on irons, etc.
yeah you dont even really have to think about it too hard like
just imagine you're a player good enough to want to go for the radiant oathplate
you log in
spend hundreds of mil on the spot to be allowed to try or afk demons?? for days
it just sounds insane
A fang kit wouldn’t be any cooler if you had to pay 10m to attempt it
like the whole point is doing the challenging content and overcoming it
and jagex is trying to move the goalposts to simply trying to begin with
Once you have Yama kc (maybe solo?) you should be allowed to challenge him for harder challenges I agree
The contracts system is cool in concept but the reality of playing the game is different innit
like nobody wants to say i wish i could try the boss but i need gp or hold on let me slay 20k black demons first
At least maybe soloing yama should give you a huge buff to contract droprate
the problem with most of the suggestions
is that jagex tied the contracts to guaranteed rewards
they should just bin that whole idea
right now lol
Yeah
At most make a specific contact like “Taking pages” at titans where you can target more of a specific loot item
like for real just turn every contract into its gp value or something and just
come back with a better take on the system
before its actually too late
Slightly better unique odds etc
Work day is over, probably already too late
i just dont want to see them kinda go down with the ship trying to modify the contracts
Jagex has picked a lot of interesting hills to die on more lately
I will say i reaaaaaally dont think awakened bosses cut much into dev time. If awakened came out with orbs from some entirely different thing at same rate we could have a conversation
Atleast the shitshow tommorow should be a good time!
tbh
im a little surprised jagex just didn't reuse awakeners orbs directly and just start calling of of this type of content awakened difficulty
they could've added extra sources for the orbs and everything and maybe fixed up how it works for dt2 bosses a bit
Make contracts like defenders where you get the easiest contract, complete it and then get permanent access to it, and then from there you can get a drop for the next challenge contract
And have the drop table have increased weightings based on the contract fight
Ezpz
is it bad that part of me hopes they change absolutely nothing
just so i can see the results
Necessary evil
Eg. Tier 1-4 contracts make the fight harder and make uniques increasingly more common (slightly) tier 5-9 contracts for the pieces to the cosmetic, t10 contract for increased pet rate
This is a small win at least
Interesting
Unless the fight is seriously hard this might flood the market with oathplate armors
Im assuming the oathplate armour one is not repeatable
Yeah I’d bet the untradeable reward ones are repeatable
Not including pet? Or maybe
can't imagine it's more than like, worms / catalysts / cosmetic kit ones
maybe pet but that's entirely up in the air as to what number they pick for the increased rate
Yeah, would give irons a way to target farm the runes and worms which I’m sure is a goal of theirs
Non-RNG target farm
makes sense
Slippery slope tho bc then you can just pump total volume of those in game pretty rapidly
the oathplate contract is 1/2900 that you can die on while just getting as a drop outright is 1/200
the contracts are going to be a tiny portion of the oathplate pieces entering the game
Ok but the average person will just sell it and a few really good gamers will just unlock infinite money glitch
Infinite money glitch already exists, it’s called high invo toa
Yeah and now we have 9m fangs lmao
Best purchase of my osrs career
Called pvm*
Tormented demons have entered the chat
Still bad, should be reverse.
should be 1 time use on complete. not gate keep from attempting
Absolute clowns if they think otherwise
Dont shoot the messenger I dont care what you think Im just sharing info
there is no untradeable rewards in these contracts. its a pet increase and the armor trimming. rest are all tradeable rewards.
Not if its insanely difficult and currently the farming contracts and learning them is not exactually good.
Do i need to introduce you to the most profitable inf money glitch in the game? selling services to bad players.
Because jagex hasnt put their foot down on it. but slowly have stopped some like mega scaling.
Was there a stealth update to Yama? teleport scrolls are dropping out of dossier and are tradeable
This was already how it worked.
A lot of Irons
More normies buy group CA's and pet boosts than irons.
Cosmetic pieces are untradeable
5 pieces to make the item that changes your oathplate
Ya but why would you care about spam doing cosmetic contracts to get one each entry as a reward lol
It being repeatable seems shit
Because you may think the fight is fun and want to optimize it
That’s literally what ppl have been asking for
With orbs
If you could perma farm awakened with no cost, it wouldn’t be worth it
I guess, im on the side of gate keep from even attempting is bad
But ppl still want the option to after completing it
I think this orb style gatekeeping is very… less than ideal
The word that comes to mind would be flagged
I liked rat idea that you consume it on completion over per attempt
🥶
it does punish those at the high end though
Uhhh, how do I say this
Almost 50% of services, legal or otherwise, are irons
Id like to see those stats be proven
Surely it would be way more likely for kit contracts to be consumed and not refunded given the natural outcome would just be reselling
Actually nvm I see the logic
And if you can 1nd it I guess you deserve to keep the money idk
They confirmed no 😦
yesterday
It’ll be like orbs it sounds like
Yep another system i wont interact with
if orbs were 5-8x pet rate, there would be a lot of better players hunting pet via awakened bosses because 3-4x hp is offset by it
"its not awakener orbs!!!!!!!!!"
"its worst!"
I am insanely impressed they managed to take a system like orbs and make them worst. truely revolutionary.
I’ll hold on hope they change their mind
Because they did listen last Friday

I’ll complain with you on this Friday if not
they've tweeted 3 times about some plushie merch depsite all the negative feedback i'm sure it's all under control
I complain a lot initially and then I go into copium mode

i mean okay to be realistic
they're probably just doing the
"let people try it and then see" type of approach
it only took them like 6 years to fix blowpipe
