the idea of water mage is you sacrifice dps for consistent healing. so your kills are gonna be a lot slower yeah, but you can ignore a lot of mechanics. i feel like its probably not that great without the echo thermy weapons though

if thats what kills you, simply reactivating mage prayer will null that damage entirely

They will request you "Drop" all your runes to continue to the next waves. (Because you can't start next wave with your own runes.)

If you take minion in t8, you can solve herb with specters in stronghold slayer cave. With that, I'd say take endless. I was in your situation and took butler and while it was helpful, doing gathering skills has been painful without endless.
