grimoire does help accelerate your mid/late game. not having to get the drops on all those prayers does help you speed through, and they did lower the drop rates on CoX prayer scrolls. having the option to barrage your tasks to help accelerate slayer is still good even if you normally would be going water for single or small target options. it helps buff your off spec styles if/when you have to switch.
