ive done every combat style every league so far, 3-5 accs per league.
but this time round im gonna start with range
I'm gonna build a pillow fort and throw rocks at people
I’ve only ever done melee builds
maybe i jump to melee once a good strat is released couple weeks in idlk

we can make a pillow castle and throw rocks down and laugh
but looking at pacts, ranged outshadows anything (even shadow) ironically
If I go zeah Asg mory then is mage or range build better? I’d think range

mory is arguably worst pick for any style, depending entirely on echo item
mory was for scythe, but thats any area
and any other area has more str bonus than mory
good melee build 5 dharok axes in bag for blind bag, wear full dharok armor at 1hp without any healing pact and use fast 2 handed heavy weapon to gamble for 200+ damage dharok hits from blind bag

it really depends on what speed ticks mage casting is put at
there is a couple of variables depending on echo item tats
if they're all the same speed, then harm wont be top
magic defaults to 5, and the pact lowers it by 2
but for range your bis areas are > asgarnia/kourend then between desert or frem
so harm would get you 2 tick elemental spells
for example. staff of the dead with it's envom, would technically be better if it casts at two tick like harm should

if it's only 2 tick spell weapon, then yes it'll be top, if it's not, then no
doesn't seem like this league is following the previous trends
for example, if battlehat is lets say 15 melee str, 15 ranged str.
then you have 15 range str (most range str any area), plus 80% of that 15 melee str additional for thown items
so assuming harmonized staff is only 2 tick staff, then you would want to grind phosani nightmare for it
most powered staves go to 1 tick, and spells without harm go to 3 tick with the pact
the pact lowers it to a floor of 2; have they revealed for sure that the pact itself will lower speed by 2?
like if ur pickign areas for purely bis, you gotta look at str bonus per area

Thorns doesn't roll accuracy, and there are nodes in the pacts that assist thorns meaning they always hit
when someone hits you, you can double hit with thorns

for all weknow they could be bis over megarares
if ur casting a standard spell, all spells are cast at the same speed
changing the dynamic for mage/melee
if you're looking at wiki it's referring to melee speed
SotD will cast spells at 3 ticks, if you take the pact to speed up spell casts

i ran the dps on all builds, and range came out 50% higherthan melee/mage in almost ever instance

If the 45k is a flat accuracy roll it will hit most things 100% of the time

because the potential is impossible to beat with current releasedinfo
my experience of playing since 1999 says it'll be out shined by at-least 4 other builds

because your build works out to approx avg hit of 65
even at 2t that wont beat it xd
65 x3.5 = 227 (7t toal time)
crossbow 7t = guaranteed maxhit of 200+ even without full upgrades.
factor in upgrades and its more along lines of 250-260
i think you're just doing table math and not considering a lot of other factors
so 255 vs 227

with 179 defense and doubled up flat damage from twinflame?

so to beat it with 2 tick weapon youd need an average hit of 70-80 for 2t.

I can't post my build idea, but the base concept is that I'm going to stab things from what will feel like ranged and magic distances using a halberd.
And also stab things with the 28 weapons in my inventory hopefully.

Blind bag is just echoes but reskinned and lets you proc big weapon hits from ideally smaller, faster hits
echoes, but you choose what does the hitting
that said I think the 'hit things from a mile away' using a halberd part of my build idea has merit.
Like using dual macs to smack with a series of scythes etc will be funny but I have a hard time wanting to pick it because its so close to echoes

Or rather it would force specific region unlocks.
morytania is a pretty good region for melee
or you could try forcing crystal halberd
but that would force Kandarin, Asgarnia, and Tirannwn
which is pretty restricting

but if you're going halberd build, noxious halberd seems to be the choice

Mory has the best halberd but it also has a ton of great stuff for other melee builds

I think they also said they need to update the wording on some of them
Ranged 
- Atlatl is considered a thrown weapon not a bow for this league as far as pacts are concerned
- Ballistae count as crossbows for pacts
- The ranged strength bonus from health difference works both directions, either overhealed or low health

Magic 
- Regeneration happens once but takes into account how many runes the spell cast regenerated. Infinite rune sources still trigger regenerations
- Spells which use both a water and and air rune for example, can trigger two different regenerations, one for the number of air runes you used and one for the number of water runes you used
- Combination runes trigger both of the regenerations but regenerate into their separate runes, so regenerating a mistrune will proc both but return you an air and a water rune
- Regeneration only triggers for runes that were actually required by the spell. So no using combination runes to trigger regeneration effects from earth/fire for a water spell (air/water)
- The magic level boost does not stack with things like the imbued heart, or magic potions but the saturated heart will be stronger than it.
- Water damage does scale with your overhealed HP beyond the 20% at 100% HP
- Fire spells are weirdly worded but it does burn considering overhealed HP, so if you have 150 HP it'll consume 6% so 9 hitpoints to deal 18 more damage. A twin-flame staff will consume 9 hitpoints once not twice
- Earth spell defence reduction still respects the defence reduction caps boss have but it has no inherent cap itself
- Earth spells do scale with your defence level beyond 99 if you have potion boosts or have selected demonic pacts which boost your defence level.
- The earth regeneration talent considers your base defence as level + pacts. So if you're at 149/99 defence you can go to 178/99 defence
there are 3 overheal nodes
so, hypothetically, you could overheal to a whopping 188 hp
if you had all 3
