Tbh we should be allowed to post on our thread more to restore our bump numbers. We spent over a year building up the posts on that thread, itā€™s not like that can happen overnight. Itā€™s a big deal to have that just be lost, itā€™s a very important credibility metric for clans

Automod has to run both on message create and message update. Because otherwise youā€™d have people creating a thread and updating it later with potentially bad content. Wish it didnā€™t, but just how things go.

Even if we make it so that to create a thread you have to have the role, there is still going to be lots of old threads where people might not have accepted the terms and get hit.

Itā€™s a tricky balancing act at the end of the day

Additional limitation - a discord bot isnā€™t guaranteed to have the ā€œbeforeā€ content of a message. It will only have that if itā€™s cached the message, and most bots donā€™t cache too many messages.

The bot only has the after content most times when looking at clan threads.

I donā€™t think that would have affected it. Discord would display a different invite embed if it expired, but I donā€™t think that would have triggered a message update event to a bot

All I can see is the post was edited on 17 June at 9:50pm eastern, and that the message was automodded at the same time. I canā€™t see the before content, just the content as it was after the edit was completed.

Itā€™s more common for clans to have some requirement/standard; this includes social clans. Being social extends in to things beyond just chatting; it also includes participating in events and group content.

When someone is brand new to the game, their account usually lacks the levels needed to engage in most content which limits their involvement to just saying gz in chat. Not that thereā€™s anything wrong with that particularly. We encourage that in our clan. There are clans out there that accept fresh accounts, but youā€™d get a much better experience if you focus on getting to a point with your account that allows you to engage in basic activities with your clan(even if itā€™s a mini game like Tempoross) because after all thatā€™s what clans are for šŸ™‚

I can say my advice @ornate nexus would be to attend an event as a guest if possible aswell. A lot of options out there, but a good way to sort through the clans is really hangout with people. I know a lot of clans might not be a fit for everyone based on timezones and just play styles .

I personally prefer a more social clan and more family feel. Some players want a more elite pvm clan itā€™s just best to feel things out. Best of luck looking!

Clans are game changer! I feel like you can get the whole osrs experience with a clan. You get the social aspect, meet new people, itā€™s very helpful not only if you have questions but they can motivate you to grind a skill youā€™ve been putting off or to try new content you mightā€™ve not tried prior. Like Senny said, usually clans have a bunch of different events that make the game even more fun. Some clans also have discord events (in the case of my clan we have game and movie nights) helps to get to know your clanmates better and have fun outside of osrs as well!
