Appreciate your interest in this topic. Just to reassure you - we do have systems in place that flag repeated rule-breaking in the Clan section, and we carry out regular checks when needed.

The four-hour gap between posts is there to help ensure every clan has a fair and equal chance to promote themselves. We know the Clan section isn’t perfect, and we're actively looking at ways to refresh and improve it over the coming months to make it more engaging.

While we do monitor activity, a lot of it comes down to trust - we want to treat you like adults. Yes, there are rules in place, and we hope people stick to them. But if someone accidentally posts a bit early, we’re not going to overreact (or repossess your home lol!). As long as you’re being sensible and visibly trying to follow the rules, that’s all we ask.

That said, if someone consistently and deliberately ignores the rules, we may lock the thread. That’s not about punishing the author - it’s to protect fairness and ensure others who are sticking to the rules aren’t at a disadvantage.

And naturally, if you ever spot anything that seems off or needs a moderator’s attention, you’re absolutely welcome to report it via Modmail. 🙂

I went through the way that @sharp ivy recommended and asked in @frosty kindle to come to the conclusion:

Appearently there are boundaries / rules on when to take action, but mere mortals like us are not allowed to know where the line is that is to be crossed.

It's personally very upsetting because that exactly gives you the "decision by how the mods feel today"-setup that was criticized on reddit recently.

I think more transparency in punishments / rule enforcement would be very helpful in managing the community of a billion dollar company.

For people looking to join a clan: I think guesting in their cc and catching the general vibe is the best way to see if you found your home! That being said there are some clans on the advert page I can recommend: ScapeHaven led by @fallen tangle is like a wholesome family community! Gielinerds led by @upbeat marlin is a new clan, but has a lot of good natured people I know. Wilderness Guardians - Idk who the current leader is but I think His Lordship used to run it back in the day- @tall fable ...used to see them in the wildy a lot back in the RS2 days they always had solid turn outs and glad to see them still around to this day! really nice work on the clan directory, only thing I noticed is that it's not really alphabetical on clan name as some clans don't start their thread title with their clan name but with emojis and characters. That could quite easily be abused to be on top of the directory which is generally a favorable position

also, it would be more convenient if the first message would link to the different categories so someone looking for e.g. a social clan doesn't have to scroll through all the other categories in search of the social directory

The original design had it where the messages were edited rather than reposted. Problem was that it ran up against discord’s rate limits as editing older messages has a much lower limit than deleting and posting new.

It’s really meant as an at-a-glance thing, everything’s listed there but you can also go direct to the forum section and sort by tags to further refine what you’re looking for

Also - I think that the fact that the messages get reposted fairly often is enough regarding the emoji concern tbh. Can be revisited in future of course but where each message lands in the list isn’t going to be the same all the time especially as new clans get added over time or older threads fall off after being inactive.

ill do that now then mate! thank you! sadly not lol!! ive done 12 full encounters and netted 700k so far but im enjoying learning mechanics and how ticks work so its a expensive learning curve as ive probably put 10m into gear for it and 4m in pots food etc but i can now do a full run of 3 on 1 inventory 🙂
