#Action Figure Realm
1 messages ยท Page 4 of 1
I know they make new ones but they're not the same
The Super Saiyan figures I specifically remember being so rad
I mean tbh, the new figures are way better than the Irwin and Jakks toys we had as kids
Technology has just come way farther and the engineering has gotten way better
It's not even that the old figures are bad, they're just old
And very dated
I will say
In defense of Irwin
This thing is a masterpiece
It's a shame it's fucking Yakon, but still
It's perfect
I remember when this was the only perfect cell figure for a long time
Jakks never made a new one, they just rereleased the Irwin
Fans : "Please give us a new Cell, Jakks"
Jakks :
At least they got rid of the blast hand
That looks like it would be really annoying
This figure still pisses me off
It's the best looking Vegeta Jakks ever did
.... but the armor
ITS WRONG
THATS NAMEK ARMOR
IT DOESNT HAVE THE SHOULDER STRAPS
Also, he literally has wounds that were given to him by Freeza lmao
This is just the Namek Vegeta figure with a new, and very good head
This was my childhood Vegeta figure
My dog chewed his halo and his fingers off
He has a stupid swivel neck, but he was pretty cool
I like that they painted the lines on the inside of his hand
That's unnecessary but cool
Nostalgia just holding so strong here
The right looks better I agree
But me & Goku on the left been through some shit
It's so fucked but on this one I do actually kinda prefer the left
I like the lack of heavy lines
There's also something that appeals to me about figures that look more like they're all one or just a few pieces
A lot of newer figures you can see all the bend points & connection spots and I don't like that tbh
Nostalgia is a very powerful thing with toys
Like you said, we went through stuff with these dudes
Literally, they were in our hand
This why stuff like the 80's TMNT figures still get reissued today. It doesn't really matter if something is dated as long as you remember when it was awesome.
I think being neurodivergent also plays a part cause when most kids got excited for toys being more flexible, I was bummed cause I'd be like "But now they LOOK like toys and break my immersion"
I didn't actually think that at that age obviously but that was how I felt
I liked being imaginative with my toys so I took appearance over function
That's why I like those old DBZ toys
Other than nostalgia
Yes, that's exactly what it is.
Saw these earlier, didn't get them but I might another time
oh
$60, wow.
AUD be tough
But it is a local business so I'd be supporting them by getting it, along with anything else in that store etc
$60 for slash is crazy!
Is he really that much now?!
He was $25 on release
That was before Neca even cost 30
Also
Look up Skeletor online
I almost promise you'll find him for cheaper
Google MOTU origins Skeletor
@bronze socket please do not pay $60 for slash
He's a great figure, I love him
He's not worth $60
Well shit, Origins Skeletor was just on pre-order on the same website but he's oos now
https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Search?SearchText=MOTU+origins+Skeletor
there are other Skeletors from the same line if any of them suit your fancy
BBTS does Aus shipping btw
These guys'll be showing up today
I'm pretty excited, though... it's super7, I know to be cautious
This line is all but officially cancelled, and it's mostly all on sale rn, and it's kind of the perfect time to dive in
Especially because my biggest issue with this line was not looking worth the price
I surely hope my Donnie doesn't have hips this bad lmao
I don't think he does
I'll say, I did pretty much get the turtles at full price
But that's because Mikey is hard to get, and this was the easiest way to get them all
I hope I enjoy them, I at least enjoy all 4 of the other Super7 TMNT figures I already, granted, I got them all for half the price of these guys
I will post more on these guys later as I am busy atm, but they're here, and for now I'll just say... Mixed Feelings
Definitely mixed feelings
Very cool lighting.
Thank you
I wanted this to come out better, but this is the best I could do
The articulation on these guys could, and honestly should be better, but for what it is here I'm not mad
Their legs have really good range
That's about it ngl, everything else is super basic
I would've liked some more head movement, but I get that they've got big ol fat noggins
Aesthetically, 0 complaints with this line, genuinely
Just like, phenomenal looking recreations of the vintage figures
Vintage comparisons
@onyx abyss which one would you go with
The right one, in the red.
I think we're leaning the same tbh
He's more accurate to the comics than the Playmates line, but I just kinda like it more
I went with red
Cobra how much money have you spent on action figures
I do not want to know
I'm going on like 15 years of actively buying figures
About 10 years of "serious" collecting
It's thousands of dollars, I can tell you that
It may very well be tens of thousands
I thought that the was the OG TMNT van with pizza launcher for a second
I have the OG OG Van, but it didn't launch Pizzas
Did it not?
Yeah that's not the one I was thinking of
I'm honestly not that connected to the turtles toys of our childhood
It's really funny, I was such a hipster kid
(This isn't an actual original release btw, it's a reissue)
Got it from Toys R Us
RIP
No, the Macy's ones aren't the same!
It's not back!
It's a lie!
Is this not the same?
Yeah it is
It don't launch pizzas tho, but there is a pizza launcher toy
It looks bulkier than I remember in your pic
What's ur most expensive figure?
Was very rare when he was out, and not only was he discontinued, the company that made him is out of business
He was already really expensive when I got them, it's fucking nuts now
Cobra's Christmas present
He will sell for like $1500
Holy shit
Can't even get me Cody as Casey!
That one is cool!
I think the turtles are lying about their age
Raph being Wolfpac Sting got me good
They've been teenagers for like 30 years
I remember these, you see em a lot at cons and toy stores
I'm just glad warrior didn't make it
He usually gets put in crossovers
I don't have very many action figures, I never really played with them as a kid
I have a dude love funko pop
Uh....
I didn't really either funny enough. I had some, I played with them, but I was more of a weird dress up kid, I collected all the Turtle Weapons and Masks instead of the figures. I got into figures as a kid, but it was in 5th grade through YouTube.
Shout out Pixel Dan
If you don't acknowledge it
It doesn't exist
That's such a random lineup tho lmao
Well, Finn
How old are you by chance?
Finn is so random
27
Was about to say unc but you're only 8 years older than I am
Honestly having Rock & Piper together is kinda crazy to me
It's a weird line up
Like what's the throughline here
Yeah you'll be here before you know it
I almost said long hair lmao
But
It can't be that
Nuh uh
By the way I gotta say
It's not my favorite visual
Reminds me of the turtle trolls from the 90's
Don't love
Some people love them
I do not
That got a whole toyline
As he should honestly lmao
Tim Seeley??
That hair kinda works for him ngl
Was this book good??
I did not expect to see a name I recognized on it
The fuck?
Hm
I genuinely don't know lmao
I'd assume it's faker, who is a blue evil robot designed by Skeletor to look like He-Man. Poorly mind you, cause again, he's blue, but that doesn't even say Faker lmao.
Yeah, that goes pretty hard
This slash design really is cool
I don't think I've ever seen Shredder calm or relaxed and I kinda love that about him
Honestly the turtles look dope as hell too
Stealth Leo goes hard
Why is there 3 Leos lmao
I imagine Leo moves a lotta toys ngl
All the turtles do, but yeah probably
I have seen many Leo collections
He is the most popular, arguably that's Mikey, but I genuinely see people quote Leo as their fav the most
You will not regret it.
I think you are right, as I actually do like just getting whichever look I enjoy most, assuming it doesn't just clash with everything else
This is why the He-Man on my main shelf is the DC comics version, just cause I love his colorscheme
Similar to me having Cartoon Beastman instead of the Toy version as well
I personally am just infinitely more connected to Beastman's design from the cartoon, that's just what I think of for some reason. Idek why, I was watching reviews on the toys years before I had access to the cartoon, it's just how my brain works I guess.
Well actually idk, I have some decently old memories of watching some episodes on YouTube, but they weren't very easy to find
I didn't consume the cartoon at large until i discovered that they aired reruns on Qubo
I was incredibly incorrect on so many levels
- This is Leonardo
- This isn't from the 3rd movie, he's from the Shogun Wave of figures
Glad I found him
He's supposed to have a hat, but I never had that
Idk why I remembered having Donnie lmao
The vac metal silver has held up surprisingly well
There's some wear, but compared to a lot of old figures you'll see with vac metal paint, this is good
Super fun figure
For the 90's, the sculpting on a lot of the playmates toys is really fucking impressive
Like fuck, the shoulder pads are so cool
They just do not put this kinda effort into kids toys of today, and it make me sad. Once toy companies at large realized how important collectors were to the market, shit kinda just fucked. Kids toys are all just kinda dookie while the cool stuff is just priced for adults.
In the 2000's, and in the early 2010's when I started collecting, there were like 3 tiers.
-
Toddler Toys
-
Kid Friendly Toys that Collectors also like
-
straight up adult collectibles
Now it's pretty much just Toddler toys and stuff that's priced too high for Parents to buy it for kids. There are exceptions, Jurassic Park is a big one, but mostly this is just how it goes and it makes me sad.
When I was a kid, I basically always had to get the $10 action figures. This is why I had more GI Joe and Star Wars than I did Marvel, they were smaller and cost less. Nowadays.... the small figures are $20 and the larger figures are $25-$30
What have we done, man
$10 action figures now are the cheapest most lame looking shit
This was a $10 figure
Would most certainly come out for $20 today
this is kinda wild
They made a Skeletor too
He's more my vibe than the floral
Panthor with the vines seemingly going down is throat is kind fucked up, but in a metal kinda way
@onyx abyss I went to Target to get something for my friend....
And there they were
They're in the wrong row, they should be in the row below them, these motherfuckers are NOT $26.99
I'm not going back to Target ANYTIME soon
But yeah
It feels very good to finally have them
Time to rest for a while, I have some other things in the mail rn and then we are DONE
Super late to this but lol Rowdy Mikey Piper
Was looking through BBTS and I saw this
Yeah that was a whole line
Some really fun figures
It's all 3 of the new day
Their faces rotate
The macho man is kind of odd to me
You could've made him in Man of Arms' colors
He has most of Man At Arms' stuff
But then a Horde vest
Idk, kinda odd
I guess he's supposed to be Hordak?
Oh
Well
See now I'm even more confused lmao
I have personal issues with John Cena being He-Man but whatever, their other He-Man is Warrior and that's worse
Making Bret Triklops is kinda funny
Mety toys is crazy
I CANNOT do it with those prices personally, going above $50 with Turtles just ain't really in my budget with how much I collect
But god
They all look so awesome
They have become many people's favorite turtles
I'll be honest, they're a bit too ripped for my taste anyway
But they're super sick
Yeah do not like
Raph's arms look crazy
I don't like, dislike it
It's just not really what I'd prefer
It's a bit Bay Turtle ish
I just don't want my Turtles to look like they'd be gym bros
His shoulder looks like a scroat
Better lighting
Shiiiiiit
I once saw these in a toys r us
RIP
Unless you don't live in the states
Then it's alive and well
Yooo lowkey might get this
Iron Studios makes good stuff
I forgot to take the shipping price into account
Gon be a while lol ๐
Oh....
Australia moment....
I didn't think the international shipping would be that crazy tbh
They have a flat rate for US shipping, I guess I would've thought they had the same for international, but looking it up no, it's based on weight and shit, plus the GST
Damn
I think it varies per product
Cause these were the different rates for something else
Was this a smaller thing? Because weight is involved.
Yeah, it was just a soft cover tmnt book chose at random
Was not too fond of it being in front of a window, so I moved the display
Looks better honestly
I think I'll take the comics out, they don't really add as much as I wanted them to, they kind of just distract
I'll do that tomorrow though
I lied ima just do it now lol
Yeah that's way better
Man, shout out Rocksteady
What an incredible figure
Doesn't come with trigger fingers, that's an actual issue
But it is so overshadowed
With how he's built, he moves very well, his joints are super tight and nice, and the sculpting and paint detail is just absolutely phenomenal (he was sculpted by the four horsemen, so that's a given tbh)
His accesories could've used some paint as well
It kinda feels like they just stopped fully painting the weapons after the Turtles... which.. yeah that's kinda lame, but whatever, not the biggest deal
But like, just looking at Donatello's bow, it's really detailed
They painted the baby turtle on Baxter's fly swatter, and that's great... but why leave most of it unpainted? Why not paint his gun?
Bladed weapons seem to all be painted fortunately
Casey gets away with it, but also come on, man, just a little wash would be nice
This is a small issue honestly
But it's enough to mark like half a point or so
Who in the blue hell is paying 140$ for Logan Paul
Probably no one, it's some shit Fucking listing
i wouldn't even pay a cent for logan paul
Looking back at this
I will say
Let's not forget how insane some Wrestling collectors are
Some people just collect every version of every wrestler
I collect based on two things
1.i collect wrestlers I like
2.if it looks cool I get it
This is how you should be
Never collect just to collect
That's how you fuck up and end up with a bunch of shit you don't care about
I've never been a Completionist, and I've never seen a Completionist that sounds like they're actually having a good time collecting
Okay, it kinda depends
Some lines I understand
Like, I've seen some people have complete Playmates Simpsons collections, and that's actually cool af
They made a whole Springfield playset and everything
This is what a complete set can look like, and that's really cool
This isn't the same as buying 7 versions of every wrestler "because"
My latest Tik-Toks
Tough
@worn plover just was talking to a big figure collector at work
He was showing me his collection
He had stuff I didn't even know about
Like Superman in this crazy black armor that was if Superman landed on Apocalypse instead of Earth
Superman : the Dark side
Guessing it was the old DC Direct figure
They did cool shit back then
They were DC's in house figure company
DC Direct was kinda the only way to genuinely get specific artist's work translated to figures for a long time
This figure is still so awesome
Don't even gotta tell me he's from New Frontier, I can instantly tell
Mafex dated these guys really hard with their versions, but these were the definitive TDKR figures for years
It was this but he also had like a mask/helmet
He also had a Palpatine w/ the cloth cape
It's in this pic just next to him on the floor
That's cool
There was also a sick looking Super Shredder
It was in one of those fancy boxes that open up like a book and the figure is still in plastic on the inside
That's sick, I actually have that figure
Well, one of the versions
There's 2
I have the one on the left
Technically the one on the right is more accurate to the movie suit, but it looks more like it does on the left because of the lighting
Nash looks so insane in that photo lmao
The airbrushed abs kill me
It looks better with the lighting they went with tbf
You can't really tell
Still don't know how his armor mutated
But also don't worry about it
Dope figure
Got him before normal shredder actually
It was the one on the left
I love those boxes
The art on the left side is so sick
That's awesome
He was talking about how he just traded off something for a big ol Broly too
I'm pretty sure they've done... actually, let me check before I say it
Was disappointed it was Super Broly tho ngl
Don't know wanna get any hopes up
Yeah, I thought so
They seem kinda hard to get now tho, but it's not too bad
I've seen far worse
Honestly, when I think of Neca, I think of horror movies
I'd rather have the puppet replicas though
Used to be their major speciality
Which are more affordable than you'd think
Like this is $350 but it's also 1:1 scale
I hate nightmare 2 but this is cool
That's rad
Buy a Steel figure.
A pretty cool one
It's an elseworlds from the 90's
You'd expect it to be crazy edgy and stuff but it's not really
It's actually just a cool story
the ss superman symbol is a choice
I think its supposed to be a black lightning bolt over a red lightning bolt
but yeah...
I didn't see it as that until you said something
But
Even with that, he ||doesn't stay evil||
And like... he was a servant of Darkseid when he was in that armor
And the comparison could be made
I want this, but I'll give you a guess at how much it is
Well, it's a Hot Toy
And it's the deluxe version
So in the US you're looking at like $500
You're in Aus
I'll say $700
Mhm
I can feel your pain on that one tbh
$764.99
I've spent some money on discontinued Hot Toys
My Toby Spider-Man was not a cheap boy
Neither was he
Or him for that matter
Nice
Love love love this Keaton figure
I think the most I ever spent on a collectible so far is the Blade I bought with Christmas money
Be careful with With getting the more expensive collectibles, because the biggest danger is if you really like it
Yeah, I'll go wisely when looking at one's that are that expensive, but I will get that Vader when I can. Just not anytime soon lol
And now I realise I have one of the swords positioned wrong on mine
I had them both outward, I'll have to fix that when I get home
If you have any local shops near you, check those out, sometimes they can have better prices
Sometimes it can be the opposite
Just depends on the store
There's stores around here I wouldn't trust for Hot Toys, and there's some that only do like a $20 upcharge
I mostly just buy online tho ngl
There's really only 3 stores near me that potentially would have em, 2 are big chains and 1 local comic store (which is where I found the TMNT figures I showed here)
And 45 dollar Skeletor
That one sadly makes more sense
Cause he's not in stock rn
He got rereleased recently but it's long gone by now
Ope
Holds back judgement
I can't anyway, I own a couple
I even paid for one directly through retail
I can't say nothing
I gotta do birthday shopping for people soon so if I can't think of anything else I just get a funko of something they like tbf
I was just meaning mostly anyway, though I do have some beef with them
My main problem with Funko, pops specifically, is that they took stores and toy sections over to like, a ridiculous degree. It's massively over saturated at this point, and for a long time stores genuinely stopped focusing on other toys and collectibles because of Funkos.
The Funko Market is an entire other discussion
And the artificial rarity of some figures
I can understand that, there's a whole wall and a half at my EB games specifically for Funkos
the comic book store only does a very tall shelf
Which... have you ever seen it close to not full?
Ever?
Because I always see Funko sections overflowing without a fucking dent
There's only ever been a few spots in the wall that go empty
And even then it's filled by the time I go back
I understand the appeal of Funko pops, I remember when they were fucking new
Back when they were just a thing you would buy at hot topic or Spencers
They also tried hard harder with them back then, that's before all of them didn't have mouths
Well, at least my Raphael has a mouth
There's only like 1 funko I have, and I only have at least 10, that I regret owning as of yet
Hulk Hogan
Somehow I knew this was the case just from the fact you liked it
If he didn't, I can't imagine you'd be as positive about it
Yeah lmao
Which I bought before I knew about Hogans bad deeds
No.
I'd say it was 90's edgy shit
But it's not
It's actually a cool elseworlds story
I assume the story is kinda like no matter where he lands, he's still Superman at heart or something similar?
I bought my Hogan action figure a literal week before the sex tape leaked
It happens
He lives at the bottom of a box and has for years
And you know what I never knew when I got him, he's the wrestlemania nine Hulk Hogan
He deserves to be in that box
I seen an Iron Sheik funko that if I did get, it would be placed ontop of Hogan, I'd have Hogans box be horizontal and put Sheik on it
Cause fuck da hulk hogan
Can't believe I bought this ๐ญ
I genuinely didn't even realize
I just liked his boots lmao
Why didn't he just wear this during his 2nd babyface run in WCW
Not Yellow enough
It took hulk hogan like 8 or 9 manias to learn how to wear a bandana correctly lmao
I only have a Hollywood hogan ultimate edition figure
2nd babyface run WCW Hogan is the most fucked up looking dude I swear
Why does all his gear look too big for him
Dude looks like a smacked ass
He didn't wear that in WCW, did he?
He did, every now and then
Heโs been looking 56 for my and his entire life
I have The Usos, The Dudleyz HOF version, Rocky Maivia, Farewell Tour cena, Batista and Bret Hart for wrestling funkos
And hulk hogan
I know for a fact he was in pants when he turned heel, but that's the first babyface run anyway
But that's the ugly 2000 logo
So it's gotta be the 2nd run
I want a spike Dudley action figure and big dick
I started a wrestling figure collection once but couldn't figure out what were the good ones so I just gave my Rock in shirt figure I got to another collector
Cause wrestling figure collecting is like weirdly difficult to get into imo
Price guess
$120
I wish
How did they not stop him at the curtain
321$
Same, it's why mine is so small. I like to have specific groups of people, but I also want to collect my favorite wrestlers, and all my favorite wrestlers are from different times, and it already feels weird for me to have Randy Savage standing next to Roman reigns who's also standing next to Randy Orton
I do like my collection, but this shit is like a fucking fever dream lineup
1 THOUSAND (or to be precise: 999.99)
Can I have that rock figure
No
I think the thing that makes wrestling figure collecting hard is that there will be like a Baclash 99 Rock for example, but there will be like 5 different versions made by different companies and you gotta know what's considered the good one
If it's on the shelf, it stays with me
It's odd
But I have a Hollywood hogan tho
Wrestling figure collecting is weird cause it's not just about who you have but the brand & line they're from
To be honest, it's somewhat easy because you can just stick with Mattel because they all stale together and they are pretty much the most consistent figures
Jakks was cool, but the bodies are all so wrong
And attitude era rock figures are fuck all expensive or cheap but they are sold out online
I'm sorry Shawn but you never looked like this
I liked the Jakks figures
I still have some
This did is Jakks from the early 90's, and he's awesome
I wish I kept my childhood figures in good condition. I still have em all but they're just jumbled up in a tote in my parents attic
He's supposed to have an urn, but I don't have it
I got him like this
I always thought they did a good job with him, though, especially for the early 90s
He looks like him
I have a bad ass Billy Gunn that doesnโt even look like him
Or Mr ass as some people might know him as
This would be nice to have
I had so many Steve Austin's growing up
Almost every variant imaginable
I also had the WCW figures with magnets in their hands so they could lock up
I even have a Sting wrestlebuddy and because of that I forever have the voice line of Sting saying "OW! You're breaking my .... NOSE!" in my head
And the 3 generations of Sting
This was my guy
Eddie with the cowbell strap? Might get ngl
I have that I got it from Walmart and the arms were loose as fuck
Still a cool fig tho
But yeah, 1000 dollars for this
Iโd buy that
I'd need Ted DiBiase money lol
So many great three packs
I know that the mania 13 three pack was revealed a bit ago
Also have a new hillbilly Jim elite
This junkyard dog figure looks sweet especially with the dog collar
And my most anticipated figure new jack
Do you smell what the rock is cooking
Where is Copperhead?
I actually don't have copperhead
He's Cobra anyway
Copperhead is cool tho
Idk if I'm gonna really get anymore Cobras tho
Or Joes
Also as a PSA, I've learned this song I used is actually AI. The video's done decently well so I'm gonna leave it up, but I am now aware of that and I'll try to not do it again in the future.
I got the Copperhead comic and you betray me like this?
At least I have firefly
I have two different fireflies
I'm just kind of out of room, that's really the thing
When I decided to get two trouble bubbles, that was basically me deciding that I was going to be out of room
He's also just a really similar looking figure to Croc Master, who I already have
Should I get a cobra commander action figure and make it the WWF champion
The answer will always be yes
Not even till the last part, just "should I get a cobra Commander figure?"
Yes
You should
The Current G.I. Joe classified cobra Commander figure Is Awesome
Love him
Staff not included
It's fucking wild how long it took them to make this figure
Honestly called that at the start of the line though
The moment they introduced a redesign for cobra Commander, I knew it was gonna take like fucking four years to get the normal version
And it did
Getting through those early days of this line was kind of rough
Some people got their classic design, some people had their design from the recent (at the time) videogame , some people just had very questionable choices with their designs overall
Everybody had shitty Guns
Distribution was buttass
They made important fan favorite characters into hard to get exclusive
It was rough
But they turned it around and it's one of the best lines I've ever collected in real time
Just so awesome
Once you get to 2022, it was kinda just kicking ass from then on
2020-2021 were kinda rough
Kinda telling that I only have like... 2 figures displayed that came out before 2022, at least for the Joes
Most of the first releases have been replaced
Snake Eyes had some parts swapped out with another release, but he's technically the first release figure
His straps, head, and sword are not technically his
I fuck with this Goldberg figure heavy his new ultimate
Sick street fighter collection
Where is your Serpentor figure, Cobra?
I don't have or want serpentor
I like him still, but it's not like it was when I was a kid
Would much rather my cobra be led by cobra Commander
Anyone feel like seeing photos of my old "Sami and Kevin Army" from before stuff got difficult and it was put in storage?
I had SO many figures on display once, but this is a shot from about 3 years ago that shows the ones I developed my passion of.
That second April on the left. She was the one that I was Plastic Bliss for LIFE after. The rush of getting her after NEVER being able to find the original blue stripe...
(the one two slots to the right was bought MUCH later in life, lol)
I also enjoy customs.
Here is a custom, fantasy attire "Trinity Uso" figure I had on my "Samoan Dynasty" shelf. She was going to have the "BLD LNE" deco on her shirt, but I didn't buy it in time to apply
Oh no
You're a Turtles fan?????
Where have you been all this time
You had the Fucking turtles 3 April, that's crazy
Oh no, Mirage Shredder fell!!!
I DID! I'm kind of. OLD. Much older than you might think.
When I was a small girl my parents were like OOOOH play with barbies.
Barbies were boring. Turtles were cooler. My originals were the core line when it was still in single digit card backs. That OG April was SOOOOO hard to find! My grandma searched everywhere. Had her sisters on it too.
One day, at Grandma's house? She had a gift.
From her sister.
At K-Mart. My Grand-Aunt found someone JUST opening a case. ASked "Got any Aprils"
And there. 3rd release (if you count No-Strip) fresh in the box.
Grandma told me this as I'm holding her and just start CRYING.
There was no going back to barbies after that.
I have been fighting for my LIFE against the NECA line. Oh that's a MONEY sink. Been trying to keep it together by JUST going for the Aprils but the Nightwatcher I preordered is stuck elsewhere. Need to rescue it from Cat Dander. Turns out? Allergic to cats!
UGLY APRIL!
I tell people "This is Ugly April"
"That's not nice"
"No that's actually what she's called."
I'm just glad I'm not a Completionist, but even then, as you can see, Neca's gotten a lot of my Money
I also just recently bit on Super 7
It is the WORST.
When I had to flee the cats I had acquired the OG Comics April, Granny, Bride, Movie (single release), Nightwatcher, 80s Cartoon, and 80s Cartoon Cat Mutation.
That comic con exclusive is gonna STING if I ever go for it. Blue suit? OHHHH I'm not liking that secondary.
And I had both of the Super 7 ones.
WHen I was that young girl I told my Mom, "Mom, I wish I could have a WHOLE COLLECTION of Aprils! ALL of them"
There weren't too many back then. As an adult, decided to make it a thing. Also had the Joy Toy on my shelf.
Joy Toy line is interesting. I kinda like it? But it feels a bit weird
My super7 collection
Too small for me
I can't with 1/18th scale
Once Star Wars and GI Joe moved to 6 inch, I never looked back
One reason, yes. The other is the "This feels like hyper-realistic versions of the cartoon playmates"
There is apparently a term for it? Realism-slop. Something like that.
Like the new Street Fighter movie. Cody as Guile. That "This design doesn't work in the real world without looking ridiculous"
Well
But I like the April enough.
Street Fighter looking ridiculous is fine imo
THis is true. I have, OH. it's in storage. That Walmart crossover line? HAD to get the Bianca, but man I want the HBK as Vega as well. That one is just PERFECTION as far as 'casting'
Nope. Bianca is CAMMY.
Cena is Guile
They went with Bianca for the braid.
Dug it out
Ooooh
She is Cammy
Okay
That makes so much more sense
I didn't think she was Cammy because they didn't give her the leg paint
She doesn't have the red triangle on her shirt either
Some of the choices make sense, others don't
I believe Yoko is E. Honda which, MAKES SENSE
Warrior as Blanka? ALSO makes sense.
Not getting Ken and Ryu though.
I'm kinda wanting to fight Warrior as Blanka, but it does make sense
I can't think of anyone else that works with the idea of "Semi-Mindless Rage Monster"
Warrior was very shouty.
Rock as Bison is fun, but I won't lie it honestly should've been Roman cause of the tribal chief character
Also the rope shaking motion looks a bit like the arm thing Blanka did
Not having Cody as Guile makes me sad though. But I have to imagine they will market the film with it's own toys. You know they will.
Let me see if any other goodie-pics
I had several more than this, but this was one of the last pics of the Samoan Dynasty shelf. Note the custom Trinity Uso and the fantasy attire Sami
Oh, wait. That's the ACTUAL attire.
THIS was the fantasy attire that ended up on there
Here was the Sami/Kevin/Generico army last seen in full. There were others, but weren't photographed here.
You know what. Here. This is a years old photo showing that. I may had a FEW.
OH WAIT! These too!!!
LOL, I don't know what all you are into. So offering a sample. I had a whole ROOM once!
That's super sick
Do you not have it all displayed anymore
Also, I'm into too many things
@brittle hinge
I'll take some photos of my displays
TO not get into personal stuff, I lived in a rather large 3 bedroom apartment once. Just me, with plenty of space. Suddenly, started getting REAL sick. from apartment.
Packed it up, moved into smaller apartment.
Never even got unpacked. Started choking.
Turned out? Had developed an EXTREMELY severe, spontanious allergy to cats. The neighbors in both buildings had cats.
Stuff all in storage right now and I am in isolation until we can get me treated and I can resume my life.
Something about a "Protein shift"
RARE, but can happen.
As a VERY fun little tidbit.
If anyone asks about those two little 'Japanese Chibi' figurines in the front, they were bought off a semi-famous Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens superfan who they have mentioned in WWE videos within the past two years.
OH! I loved Transformers as a kid. Was trying to build a collection. My parents gave them away when I went to college. I was DISPLEASED.
It's hurt too much to try and get back in. But I made sure to let them know never TRY that again.
Man that 90s era shelf.
I was an X-Men Animated Series fan when it first came out. That was my intro. I want to watch '97 but at the same time I also wish I could catch up on TAS first? Been a bit LOL
I never got into Joes and I never did He-Man.
He-Man I got scared off from. I wanted to, but everyone was like, NO! You have to do SHE-RA! I didn't want She-Ra, I wanted He-Man. Evil-Lyn was way cooler to me, especially the Live Action look. (Amazing costure design to young me)
And I didn't like the scale of Joes back then either, so I never started.
He-Man and Friends
OH!
Right. I had Sorceress April too. From that line!
I also collected Doctor Who and was getting into customization. Including 3D Print Kits
3D Print kit of "Eldrad" from the 1980s. I bought the kit, painted myself.
I'm weird. I'm 27, so I think I'm younger than you are by the sounds. I grew up on the reboots of Joes, Turtles, and He-Man. Thing is, I moved on from all of them until 5th grade (2009-2010) when I discovered action figure YouTube, specifically Pixel-Dan. That's how got Into retro/ retro adjacent action figures all together, but specifically He-Man. Rise of Cobra came out around this same exact period, and that lead me to finding. Dude on YouTube who covered the retro GI Joe line.
Turtles of Grayskull is fun
I am definitely older. In my early 40s.
I have joked about Kevin that "Seeing as how I was in the Wrestling Clique in my high school, somewhere out there is a universe where we were plopped in the same vicinity and were besties, lol"
I have so many memories of things.
Like, not a figure thing but, the first time I hear ABOUT Kevin?
Guy I was dating, circa 2011 or so. Discussing wrestling and I said, "There should be a wrestler who KNOWS Kayfabe exists. Just, one guy out of everyone who is fully aware wrestling is 'fake' and complains about his booking and having to do promos and stuff."
Him: OH! That guy exists! He's in the indies right now.
Me: Wait, who?? What's his name???
Him: ... I don't remember. I'll have to look it up.
We broke up before I ever found out the name was "Kevin Steen"
LLOLOL
CLASSIC Justice League. Respectable.
I wanted to be Catwoman so BAD when Batman Returns came out. I begged for that little merch figure. Mom's like, NO we just bought you TWO today, and she is too SHAPED. Keep walking.
Didn't see her in store ever again. I wanted the Multiverse one but man she evaporated fast.
I'm so confused
Apparently so, I'm concerned
I'm pretty sure a lot of parents said this about the Catwoman from that movie
That movie in its own was just very controversial from what I know
It was sexual Batman and parents were not ready
It was kind of a lot. And then they REBOUNDED into Batman Forever which had Ivy but deep comedy
What's funny is that I watched that movie as a kid, and all that shit went over my head, Penguin biting a dude's face is what stuck with me
LOLOL I have this "weird" plaque on my table in here that people get a bit freaked out about. It's the one from Elimination Chamber.
People are like "WHY is he chewing his face???"
And I have to tell them that, In the indies, there was a thing. They would be VERY affectionate as a tag team. But when it turned to hate? Those kisses had "Teeth"
This was a callback to that hateful affection, but Sami is chewing on a hockey stick because on Kevin's hand tattoo, that's his 'symbol' They're biting each other here.
Also, it's FUNNY and seeing it makes me giggle.
have far less merch that ISN'T figures, but a fiew pieces!
I also have the X-23 from Wolverine and Deadpool over on my table. Still in box. Broke down SOBBING when she arrived.
My best friend from college was an X-Men Evolution fan. Laura Kinney was her favorite Marvel chatacter. Friend passed away after Logan came out but before Deadpool and Wolverine was announced.
HUGE MCU FAN
Having the fully realized X-23 MCU figure in hand? SOBBING.
It's the persona connections to them that can really get you.
Sorry about your friend.
Thank you.
Our hobbies can contain so much passion besides the topic themselves. Night 1 of Wrestlemania this year was SO SPECIAL to me, not because of the event, but because for once my mother wanted to sit down and watch it with me. First time EVER.
Sometimes it isn't the toy or card or shirt or event that's special.
It's who you share it with.
I got A HAUL today, haven't opened it yet
I finally got around to opening the haul. Good stuff
Dang I will have to take them out of package to show
I'm excited to see it whenever
I took the Chelsea Green UE out. Then went to do Randy before seeing the blurb on the back about Kevin's neck injury
Made me sad, stopped unboxing
Full unboxing for today.
Not shown: Basic-series Cactus Jack and Bron Breakker
Cobra, make a shelf like this.
I must really not know my Marvel enough because for a moment I thought all of those Sentinels were Galactus
They have a similar colour pattern, so it is understandable to a degree.
Galactus has the helmet though.
I do not have infinite money nor space
I'm pretty happy with my Marvel collection as a whole
I used to want to build multiple X Men teams, but eh
I'm admittedly partial to the era I collect anyway
But also that's just so much space and commitment
I don't even love Marvel Legends as a line enough to do it honestly
Not anymore at least
I have had SO much fun branching my collection off from Legends to where I could never see it being my primary collection again
Kraven and Vulture
I still need them
And Lizard
Not to mention that the person in that photo spent $1,800 on the Sentinels alone
Wait
Does he have Toybiz Cyclops?
I fucking love this figure to this day
Oh no
It's probably the 97 guy
I'm sorry man, but the guy above him is 20+ years older, and that's embarrassing
If I had infinite money and space tho my collection would be going insane
I'd have the whole Toy Story universe dawg
I'd have custom made movie accurate Toy Story figures out the ass
When those retro-carded TMNT Playmates were in stores a bit ago, I saw the retro carded April O'Neil and just FROZE
That April, that EXACT APRIL on that EXACT CARD is why I fell head over heels in love with figures at age 5 and I'm there almost 4 whole decades later in my Grandma's kitchen again.
I ABSOLUTELY left the store with it.
Retro releases are very cool
It's also nice that they fixed her face lmao
The actual OG April looks a little interesting
Well hang on, I have pictures
Losing the retro releases is the saddest thing about Playmates losing the license to me
I doubt Mattel will do that
If they even could
It's not like a Hasbro situation where they own Kenner and have the rights to do whatever
This is a picture I took of the retro card as it was hanging on my wall
Yeah, god, they made her face look so much better lol
oh
THIS was the figure that's based on.
They really didn't change it much if at all.
THis was the SECOND April figure released.
THIS was the famous "Ugly April"
She had a blue stripe and no stripe versions.
No-Stripe April is one of THEE most valuable of the OG TMNT figs MOC
Yep
Indeed
Not quite as valuable as scratch
But she's up there
Nice to have someone else who speaks my language
Before you, I was THE only person in here who knew a significant amount about American toys
At least the only one who talks about it
At least outside of wrestling toys
This is the best vintage April to me
I like her colors, I like her head, and I like her proportions
I actually just tried to look up when that April was released on the TMNT database.
It MUST have been some sort of running change because it isn't listed as a release that EXISTS in the original line, via the pictures. The listing shows the original, all yellow April, then the next release was the "Ninja" April and then "April II"
I 100% had orange April before I had THIS one.
Because the purple and yellow was my SECOND April, then Movie III April was my 3rd April
1992 from what I can see
I wouldn't doubt the orange April in 94 was a reissue
They reissued the main characters all the time
I feel like they probably would have fixed ugly April semi early on
Granted, it's not like they fixed shirtless shredder in a timely manner, that took a while
I have a place in my heart for shirtless shredder though
He looks so fucking goofy and I just love it
Why is he shirtless with shoulder armor and a cape?
That makes zero sense
And I love it
April should've got a toon release
It's wild how good they actually got the cartoon characters, the channel 6 people look perfect
Turtlepedia states 1991.
It absolutely came out in 1992 at the latest because 1992 was the Channel 6 Newsvan and it had a repainted Green April of the same style
Green Jumpsuit April is one of the other hard to come by Aprils.
That news van in general is very hard to find
Always has been for as long as I've been a fan
Circa 2010 is when I became aware of the vintage line
This one. States it was a 1991 release.
So I would have been somewhere around first or second grade
Yeah, that seems right
It would be hard to believe that they waited to upgrade her face until 1994
My parents wouldn't get me the vehicles ๐
Or the playsets
I remember seeing "Mutating April" in stores and it being the ONE April I was like, "Ehhhh, not sure I'm sold on this"
But I do have the NECA version in storage.
From the box set
Don't know if I showed you these or not, but these are my 88 Turtles
Plus Shogun splinter
Raph is a soft head
It's so cool to be able to say this without having to explain what it means
The mutating figures are cool, but very odd
They're so chunky
I could NEVER find the OG Don.
I had Raph, Mikey, and Leo. But my main Donatello was the "Storage Shell" one.
I had every other one of the OG releases except the April. April and Don were the two I missed. I also had Bebop and Rocksteady.
I had the Krang, but only the small version. Was missing the Body that came separate.
I remember Ray Fillet? I think it was.
The one that changed colors in warm water. I used to play with him in the bathtub, LOL.
LOL, that is so funny to me
So, the first Turtle figure I ever bought with my own Money was Storage Shell Don on EBay for like $15 in like 2012. Then a year later they did vintage reissues, so for a long time, I had the 3 normal reissue turtles with Storage Shell Don.
I now have all the Turtle Shell re-releases, but I keep them on the wall in package
Not really an in package guy, but I have enough sets of loose turtles
And then they released the "Sewer Swimming" ones and I'm like, YAAAAAAAAY funtime!
Love Ray Filet
I have the Neca Archie comics Ray, and the Super7 Ray
He's always been one of my favorite mutants since first laid eyes on his vintage figure
I remember I was pretty excited to get Usagi Yojimbo
I also remember there was this one kid in 1st grade I think it was, who had the Super Shredder figure. And we were all very confused because none of us even knew Super Shredder existed yet because the movie hadn't come out yet.
The kid claimed his dad "worked in Japan" and got the figure early. To this day I have NO CLUE
It was RIGHT before the movie came out though. WIthin a couple months at most.
I have no idea, LMAO. It was first grade, kids say things
They do indeed
More than likely the figure was street released as promotional stuff FOR the movie, and had either already come out, or at most the kid's dad was a toystore guy who had early access BEFORE street date
Okay, so apparently, Super Shredder got a normal card release in 1991 before the movie that was separate from his Movie Stars release
That would be the one!
Well we were in 1st grade.......
The hilarity that that's technically a Kevin Nash figure
Indeed it is lmao
I had the chance to get Kevin Nash to sign the box of my Neca super shredder, but I didn't take it, some part of me thinks I should have
He was showing up to a local store for the release of a Funko pop
To do signings
I already met him once, and it was not the greatest experience, he wasn't like an asshole, but he didn't really seem to give a fuck either
So I didn't bother
I promised myself I would finish that Kevin Steen custom today.
It has come to my attention that they are making a Kane ultimate based off his old titantron live action figure
Oh my goodness this is the "Coliseum Collection"
It is an entire online-exclusive series of "Ultimate Editions" based on historical figure releases.
The ORIGINAL concept was only remakes of the LJN "Wrestling Superstars" line. But since WWE is now partnered with LJN directly, they seem to be branching out into OTHER historical releases.
The first two are this Kane, and the Hasbro Yokozuna figure
But BOTH are actually rereleases!
This Kane was originally paywalled behind a 150 dollar "RAW IS WAR" ring-playset
The Yokozuna I believe was the CHASE variety (I THINK) of a Target store exclusive.
I know it was a Chase for ONE of the Yoko releases, but I can't remember if it was the UE or not
THe packaging is new though!
Please know, these are ONLINE ONLY. You will NOT find them in stores.
I know
Most people in here who collect wrestling figures know about Ringside and shit like that
Lots of people in here do collect action figures
They just don't talk about em
I try to change this but to little avail
Maybe I could try and convince them to do an actual figure channel, but they are somewhat hard to keep active
Just judging by other serves who have one
Yeah I know about them but something inside me deep down doesnโt trust ringside collectibles website
You can trust Ringside they've been out here for like 20 years
Is there any reason why you don't trust them?
Thatโs the thing I donโt know
They are 100% trustworthy
No reason to not trust them tbh, they're the most reliable place to purchase wrestling figures
Maybe cuz like Iโve been ordering figures from amazon so much I just canโt get myself to try something that I know will be better
Target and Walmart are actually much less reliable and much more likely to cancel your pre order
Amazon is infinitely less trustworthy
Example
You know what maybe I got to give ringside a chance cuz it would seem that they way more trustworthy than any other site
They've genuinely been out here for ages
I said 20 years, but it's honestly more like 30, I was just reading about people using them during the attitude era
Damn so they have been in the game for a long time
I will say that I've never used ringside myself, but that's because I don't really collect wrestling figures like that
I did get my wrestlemania 40 Cody and Brandi set off of Mattel creations, though, that was an exclusive
Fair why would you go use a wrestling figure website if you didnโt mainly collect wrestling figures
If I actually collected Wrestling Figures I would use ringside
Yeah exactly
I still check them whenever I want a figure, I checked them when I was getting a Bret
They didn't have one I liked tho
There's not actually many good Bret figures
They donโt do Bretโs face scan well at all
The one I have is probably the best one
I'm too lazy to get up and take a picture of the figure himself lol
I also bought him a leather jacket off eBay
I think I said before that he can't do a 2 armed pose, I was wrong, he can
I was correct in that his sword hilt is too short tho
There should be some hilt sticking out from under his hand, but instead his bottom hand is holding onto the very end
Still a really good figure, genuinely the best he-man I've seen Mattel make this decade
Sorry, took me a moment to get in here.
I figured most people know about Ringside.
But with the CC line has bounced between etailer to etailer lately. It started as only on MC. Then was only Amazon for a wave. Now Ringside is in on it.
So I wasn't sure if they knew it's still online only, but you can probably find it on more than one site
Also the way it was framed? Thought it might be someone who didn't collect Mattel and was just going for that Kane only as a nostalgia Jakks fan.
I've seen a handful of posts of people who never collect Mattel WWE who just found out about that Kane and want in for the retro TTL style.
Never knew TTL had so many fans, lol
This looks cool
Head can be switched between the undamaged and damaged helmet, I can give him an inquisitor style double blade saber
Mafex is good I can vouch
He's a very beloved figure
I don't own him specifically, but I did get my Mom the Mando a few years ago
Just don't let him fall off your fireplace mantle and land on the hearth, and you'll be fine lmao
Granted, we fixed him. His arm came out, but I used some loctite superglue and it's good as new, full movement and everything.
I have a few non SW Mafex figures tho
Top 10 figure in my collection tbh
Too lazy to light this well, but he's Mafex
Both of these spideys are Mafex
Thor is a Mafex
Lastly but not least
Mafex gets a ๐ from me
Oh wait
My Batman figures
Uhh, they're somewhere in this chat I think
Oh, Daredevil too
Damn I have more Mafex than I thought
This shit adds up quick, man lmao
Dare was my fav Mafex before I got the T-800
He's very very good
I've never seen a Venom like this
He's specifically based on Todd Mcfarlane's Venom
Or, first appearance venom
The figure is too small, it's the largest criticism about it, but idc tbh, still looks cool
Ngl at first because of that I went, "Is that a black suit Spider-Man with Venom teeth?"
You should get the McFarlane toys figure of Venom.
I should break into your house and hit you with a hammer
Although, I wonder if he has any venom statues
That's what they do best at this rate
Yeah see
That's fucking cool
WHY DONT HIS FIGURES LOOK LIKE THIS
Okay, actually, I say that
His big figures are his best figures
Like, look at this
THIS is what Mcfarlane toys should be imo
I do not think they can do super articulation, so they shouldn't do super articulation. Make a figure with basic points of articulation that just looks really fucking good in terms of sculpt and detail.
THEY ARE CAPABLE OF COOL STUFF
But their normal figures just do not do it for me
These are some of their best, which is why I use them specifically
And they're still just OKAY
Batman's lower body is just not right
His lower leg should be more built, just look at the artwork above him
He doesn't have nearly enough calf
Superman's Trunks are just bad and it fucks up the whole vibe
Why they absolutely INSIST on Trunks being separate pieces, I do not know
I am really not mad They are losing this license, man.
I like the Blade I got. Only issue is the placement of the back foot, makes me a little iffy but it's nice to look at imo
They should just make statues, genuinely
The upcoming Image comics line looks sorta neat though
Maybe they'll figure it out now that they lost DC
The Hellboy line looks promising too
Even then, it's seriously not like they only make shitty figures, this guy is genuinely cool
They do mostly make underwhelming figures for me tho
And now that they've made it to $30?
Nah
Some of their figures really are just dogshit to me tho
Like this just looks so fucking weird
My homie owns a version of this guy that's even worse
THEY DIDNT PAINT HIS ELBOW JOINTS
ITS BLACK PLASTIC
THATS SO UGLY
I get mad everytime I go to his house and see this figure
He didn't buy him, another friend of ours basically just said "I don't need this shit, take it"
