Outside of story backgrounds, we want to have enough art styles that promote creativity in community content. What sort of bonus level backgrounds or asset themes would you like to see in Restitched?

Examples of how you might describe the scene: medieval castle exterior, throne room hall, frozen wilderness, lush forest, underwater city, tropical island, christmas in a big city, etc...

#

This is not a developer post or trixel taking feedback. I'm just personally curious which kind of themes you guys would like to see in a game like this!

tiny cedar
#

i would love a simple field background

inland oar
#

Make something like the amazon rainforest i beg you

tiny cedar
#

a Victorian street is also amazing

hearty sun
#

Arid desert climate with sandstone buildings

ornate oar
#

do a background similar to the wilderness from LBP1, such as a winter setting

versed trail
#

space theme

austere raven
#

Something similar to the Islands Theme from LBP

kind wagon
#

An art studio/gallery theme

#

I think a library would be a cool theme. Jumping on books, hanging on antique looking ceiling lights, and climbing from one floor to the next could be fun. And it would give the artist a lot of fun ways to reference their favorite books and stuff.

south void
#

Some sort of solarpunk landscape

tiny cedar
#

A dungeon level would be great

crude quail
#

first thing that came to mind is some kind of sunken/flooded palace theme

#

if i could suggest anything else, i'd also like a heavily mechanical factory theme

#

and ALSO definitely an expansive cave background

faint elbow
#

A spooky halloween theme would be great! And maybe an abandoned city

oh very much old

#

or just early in general

#

futurism aint my kinda thing

hearty sun
#

Steampunk

dense dome
#

Same kinda of open cave vibe like this

Cyberpunk

There's two varieties that I know of (Night City, and Bladerunner's)

Cyberpunk can fit any kinda boot imo, doe s nt have to. Be. Sp ec if c

i would love to see an background set in a fairy tales setting, similar to the littlebigplanet 1's milestone 5 build, also i wanted it to be unsettling and almost dream like, think to it as an collection of childhood dreams and nightmares

#

something like these images would be cool

sleek whale
#

another cool idea for an background would be an gloomy and dark ruins of an alien research station, filled with failed creature experiments in the back

crude quail
#

on topic with the newest mario game: i really liked how the Shining Falls levels looked, perhaps a background similar in style to the backgrounds of those levels could work?

long island
#

As weird as it sounds look up shy guys toy box from paper Mario it could be a really cute idea for a theme being a toy box themed world. Best to watch a YouTube play though to see the whole area since it looked really good

i think some level themes based on cut levels from little big planet could use some special care in loosely recreating.
these of course being the interior of a western train, a japanese rainy window setting within a house, and a auditorium-like russian theatre

i would also suggest maybe theme ambiences from LBP3 that haven't been fully fleshed out as levels, such as burning town and classic restaurant diner.

astral briar
#

If your suggestions include LBP we can already guarantee that we're not going to look at it 😅

That sounds like a neat theme! Personally I think the farm looks nice, mostly because I grew up in the country so it feels homey

astral briar
#

I also grew up in the country. I tried to push for a lot of southern US influence being as I’m from Alabama. 😄

long island
#

I’m from Virginia, I still live close to home in a city thankfully and it’s still a nice view of the mountains too

restive patio
#

wait

what if you guys did a theme/enviroment based around a indoor playplace/children's resturant with a playground
or even a amusement park

sleek whale
#

@astral briar i really wanted the ruins of an old city, an city that was destroyed by alien mechas, similar to the 2005 war of the worlds movie

#

or the prototype for Rayman Raving Rabbids

zenith hound
#

atop a castle wall, like so

#

on the side, not exactly like in the image.

crude quail
#

that would go hard.

#

a view down the hill revealing a distant town...

#

that'd be so scenic

south void
#

It'd be like the Fantasy Background from LBP PSP but actually good

restive patio
#

honestly i'd like to see alot of the ambience themes from LBP become fully fleshed backgrounds

#

like the old diner and train

sleek whale
#

Copacabana Beach would be perfect for an bonus/DLC background

restive patio
#

a interior burning house/building (like in the incredibles)

tidal garden
#

spooky graveyard backround with ambient crow/owl noises

south void
#

A background themed off of H.R. Giger's work, or something biological like the insides of a creature

sleek whale
#

Tropical Island

drifting flume
#

Frutiger aero

#

could be relaxing

restive patio

OH YEAAA

a seaside fair theme; a fair on the docks with a nice ferris wheel, some rides and in theory this would be animated as well, and depending on the lighting if it gets darker for example: lights on the rides, booths etc would be a lot more noticeable.
and this theme would include a lovely seaside fair ambient!
a good example of this would be the santa monica fair!

#

could also do somethin simple and have like, a kitchen background and the ground you build on is a kitchen table, maybe some miscellaneous items scattered around, some toys too maybe.

sleek whale
#

Medieval times

sleek whale
minor ridge
#

would very much like to see some different more "natural" vistas

#

like italian hills and windmill and farmland that goes very far

#

or snowy peaks close to mountains

#

could be very high up or situated close to a sort of cabin or shelter area at the bottom of a mountain

#

and as a shameless personal wnat, something like a mix of dried out region with more fauna than a regular desert

#

similar to Brazilian Caatinga

#

i think on other more "meta" ideas a child's room could be cool
sorta toy-story style

#

or maybe even a sort of "maker's" shed

#

Where you have stuff like raw materials, hardware tools like hammers and screwdrivers
And idk maybe he's a woodworking furniture guy so he has a sewing machine on a table for clothed stuff
Which would give context to maybe add a few stuffy rag plushies in the background too

#

Maybe an older/villa style town which has tiny meta-references to the game like the center of the background being the town hall or center with a stuffy statue water fountain

#

I think maybe let's say you have this big house background or an attic background, you could have a miniature train set table or an autorama even

#

Hell, make the train miniature set table part of the foreground of the background and let it act as a sort mini toy city slightly oversized in comparison to the player

#

Would be interesting to see some dynamic background stuff like

Say you have a dock/port background
If you change the daytime to night the sky lights up with stars instead of just being a blank dark sky

#

I think as a last meta-background idea would be a sort of a "trixel studio" but in the sense of like An actual game studio

#

Since from what I see most of trixel just work from their home from different places of the world, would be cool to see a background where it's like, the ideal trixel studio office if everyone was able to work in it

#

Make the dream studio and fill it with references and tidbits of Easter eggs of the development of the game and of developers too

#

And let stuffy run wild in it

plain raft
sleek whale
astral briar
#

What do you have in mind for a dungeon background?

plain raft
golden tangle
#

Unsure if this has been suggested already, but a simple moon / planet would be nice. Floor being the planets surface and the rest of the background just a starfield, maybe with some small planets in the background. Would be good for any space levels

digital sage
#

I feel like another planet background wouldnt be as cool

bleak condor
#

Maybe like a stomach

#

Hear me out

#

It would be kinda like a cave but more fleshy

#

And would have glowing green acid at the bottom

#

Not exactly this but similar

dense mango
#

Ooo a desert, oldwest town , aquarium, a lab

bleak moon
#

A dance club and a garage would be cool.

long island
#

Maybe a city street like in LBP, something Urban would be nice

long island
#

Oh cool!!! I can't wait to see it!!!

#

That's right I think it was the background of the most recent game play trailer I know the materials and theme looked urban

dense mango
#

a european style city would be cool

bleak moon
#

Oh, well then I guess all I have for y'all is a Dance Club theme.

ornate oar
hexed sage
#

Maybe a, “Stuffy workshop” inspired by the old build a bear stores and aesthetic 👀

frigid yarrow
#

Sunflower field, where there's a bunch of sunflowers that reach up high

Or like... a school, but after everyone has left and its all empty and quiet

bleak moon
#

I feel a background consisting of floating, animated 4D shapes would be both eye-catching and inspiring... If done correctly, it would be an awesome concept.

ornate oar
#

The white void StuffyBlep

frigid yarrow
bleak moon
#

That would probably be a better idea with the same effect considering animating 4D stuff is like... where do you start lol

I think an upgraded version of "The Metropolis" definitely needs to make a return. Just an underground-urban type. It was very memorable for someone like me who lives out in the middle of nowhere.
