#What features would you like to see implemented to the game?
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
we don't use AI-generated assets or code, don't worry :)
yeah this
Well to be fair, there are some AI-based coding features in IDE’s that devs may use. But it’s not generative
and I don’t know if they use them
but we have asked ChatGPT for help solving some tougher bugs (such as Unity-specific issues or when we’ve exhausted our own ideas trying), or artists prototyping basic scripts as stand-ins (to clear roadblocks with progress) until a coder can properly implement something
But there is a very big difference between closed loop AI that enriches your existing skills and helps solve time management issues, and AI that does the work for you using someone else’s property. Obviously we don’t use the latter.
and we will never use generative art or assets
yep
Happy you mentioned this, since there's been a hugh debacle with use of AI in video games recently.
what if there was some sort of content warning system in place for community levels? like, if there's some more mature/scary content in a level, creators can add a warning that pops up before playing the level so that younger and/or more sensitive players don't step into something they'll regret (ik trigger warnings can also just be put in the description but i'm sure there's a good handful of people who would just download and play something without reading the description first)
it could also be used to just add some sort of bonus message or notice from the level creator
I think horror levels would be obvious enough especially with tags
fair tbh
You can exclude certain tags from your search in Steam iirc
you can directly add mature content warnings on a steam item.
Is there gonna be a menu that keeps track of everything you've collected in a level, percentage and items and all, like in the LittleBigPlanet series?
Might need something to let the player know they've collected everything in a level, too, like an audio cue.
Some option in the menu that would let you make custom things for your avatar like for example a top hat or a scarf
I would like to have some stock sound effects, the type of sounds I wanted are cartoony sounds
https://youtu.be/H64wI6-tDwk?si=35vyw0zLGYRNkvc6
Download these sounds: http://bit.ly/3E82t5t
Goofy Cartoonish Sounds, but I added more sounds cause you guys seem to like these.
#cartoon #cartoons #goofy #goofysound #goofysounds #goofycartoon #soundeffect #sound #soundeffects #memes
There should be censorship for more vulgar swears
the ability to upload custom sound effects would be nice, i was hesitant on mentioning it because ik similar to voice chat it can be kinda tricky business but if it can be done it'd be nice to see that happen
very unlikely
I also hope they add it, this would be difficult for traditional console UGC games to implement but Restitched can use the fact that it's a PC game to it's advantage. It would allow for a lot more customizability.
Though Dreams also managed to do it through it's website.
All ideas are welcome, and many of them are great!
At the same time, it’s really important to know that Restitched is a platformer game with a level editor. It’s not meant to be a creative platform like Roblox and Dreams.
It’s entirely possible that it ends up heading in that direction with the right features, but with incredibly limited resources we have to stay grounded to the more realistic idea of just being a platformer level editor.
I don't know if this is dark but...
Will there or could there be a "Death Animation" that would be like stuffys entrie stitching comes undone and a completely cotton version of stuffy appears and evaporates in the air or flies away?
Or the possibility of creating "advanced death/movements" for characters (npc) by editing joints and other stuff?
Or is this too extreme?
I have some ideas that would look good in most platfomer games.
- after falling from a high place, Stuffy could do a roll
- when entering a small space with enough speed, Stuffy could slide into it legs-first, before slowing down and starting to crawl. It would have to be faster than a normal running speed, for example getting launched from a trampoline
- I saw there was a material in the trailer that you can sink into. When falling into something like it, Stuffy could position themself head-down, with arms pointing down as if they were diving into a pool
- running on slippery surfaces could have a different animation, similar to ice-skating
for that last one, kinda like this maybe? 👀
I should've explained that one better. I was thinking of a flat surface, not a slope, pushing with one leg and sliding on the other for a moment, then changing to the other leg.
But I'm glad there's already an animation for sliding on a slope. I also wanted to suggest adding that
oh I see, that’d be cool!
Will there be multiplayer when in create mode?
I don't know if the team is planning on this, but maybe some high grade explosives?
NUKE!!!!!
I would love to be able to play levels with other people, not just friends but other random people too.
Folders for organizing different kinds of assets would be nice.
Something like theck, thack and usable thock that don't have collision issues.
(The developers know what I'm talking about, but for the uninitiated...), in those other games from the before times, the thick layer had three sub layers that were necessary for players to be able to move past checkpoints without collision issues or for players to fit inside objects like tubes or cups or the pizza planet rocket, etc...
In the first and second games from the before times, theck was necessary for my cars because I needed a back layer and couldn't use thin because it would cause collision issues between my cars if they wanted to pass each other in the available layers.
In the third game they kind of messed up theck and thack collision, and since all my wheels were made of thack attached to theck suspension mounts, the wheels would self destruct when I would open my levels with cars in them and had to make new wheels that had thin layer suspension mounts. Luckily, in the third game they also made it so you could turn off collision in any material, which I had to do for my wheel mounts. (Speaking of suspension, I'm really hoping Restitched has springs and pistons.)
I wish there was a list of material types they will be including. Must haves for me would be:
•every material having a dynamic default with a static setting.
•stamp panel (similar to or perhaps "that and more" in comparison to sticker panel)
•holographic (adjustable intensity, scan line modulation, color. Again "that and perhaps more" in comparison to hologram.)
•polystyrene
•wood (I'm sure there will be many varieties, but I want one where I can resize the grain, adjust the color, adjust the finish (a sliding scale from rough to smooth as well as worn to glossy) and save presets, maybe in a "saved custom" subheading.)
•corrugated paper (again, I'm assuming there will be a plethora of varieties and patterns, but an adjustable "natural " variety will also be appreciated, especially if I can make it look like translucent corrugated plastic.)
•basic rubber
•a large variety of everything else under the sun.
•specialty materials I've forgotten to mention as well as ones I never even knew I needed but won't be able to live without.
I want one that mimics Paul Reuben's entire death scene in Buffy the Vampire Slayer... 😃
I can do a lot with tags, sensors, movers, counters, selectors, randomizers, and, or, nor, xor gates, switches, timers, combiners, splitters, emitters, destroyers, motors and a controller/keyboard interface circuit board. I've seen a lot of what I just mentioned above cleverly Macgyvered out of motors, pistons, switches, sensors and tags in LBP1. Necessity was the mother of invention back then. Don't sell yourself (or a determined community) short. 🙂
(especially if you come up with a control interface board and some kind of stitch-bot)
Hello everyone, I'll only bring this up one last time lol. I want to bring more closure, hope this may clear everything up. It didn't take me long to realize this, I needed to fix my PC so I couldn't address anything due to that fact and I wasn't aware all this had been going on during that time. After reviewing the feedback. I will admit that player monetization wasn't a good idea and Roblox was a terrible example. So here's me reflecting and letting it be known it wasn't a good idea and I'll humbly take the L on that one. I hadn't put too much thought into it. Thought about an in game "market" that could in a sense benefit everyone. However after looking back at my comment I can see where the concern lies and I totally agree with everyone. When I thought up the idea I was thinking "All these magnificent creations, I feel like it would be cool if they could receive something for their time and effort the same way game developers do. The devs can also benefit by receiving a portion to fund more development with the game or it can go towards the next project." Again, I hadn't put deep thought into it but I'll admit when I'm wrong and I have no problem with coming to terms with being wrong. We are all here with the common goal of sharing our thoughts and opinions on what we believe would be a great feature to this promising game. I love to see this post being thought provoking. All that being said, I'll attempt to do my best in thinking deep with the ideas I come up with moving forward. I kindly ask that you proceed with the wonderful ideas and opinions but please do so out of the utmost respect for one another, thank you.
Wow we got a whole press release statement
I suppose so?
A style filter that lets me make materials range from horrific unreal-engine Homer Simpson to actual Homer Simpson. Sort of like the difference between some of the more realistic LBP materials vs the SpongeBob and Adventure Time materials. The later two of which are what I'll have to use if I end up making a Dr. Seuss level in LBP3 while I wait for (hopefully as early as alpha) access to Restitched.
If you do post launch dlc I kinda hope you include small free updates with them, like a noir dlc and a free update including a black & white and sepia filter for levels. Or you have a portal dlc and include a material or two everyone can use.
Just something so with every dlc released players who don't buy get something too
Valve franchises would be the most free crossover ever since this is a Steam exclusive game
but currently they aren't planning any paid content
Imagine if valve offers to publish the game since they'll see it as a spiritual successor to gmod. /j
valve would just buy the developers to make a new game sort of similar
valve would hire them, causing the game to get delayed into hell and then they work on a hit new valve game called life 2
A stamp switch and the ability to turn screen captures into stamps.
In place of the thermometer that we aren't getting, it would be nice to see a "system requirements" meter display that changes as your creation grows. Having local loading that only loads what Stuffy is interacting with at the time (the thing LBP3 calls a "dynamic thermometer") would help tremendously to keep the requirements meter low. If this was already addressed, sorry for bringing it up again.
Or if not a constant display, something we could test on command.
Please make us able to sort objects or clothing by color
So its easier to make costumes with complementary colors or find objects of neede color
Oh and stamps too obviously
Multiplayer hub world for the "dive in" equivalent with a trilly room 🤪
I want something LittleBigPlanet never had. I'm arbitrarily calling it a "singularity", but it would be a specialized world or physics tweaker.
Wherever you placed it (for the whole level or if you want or scale its level of influence in case you want multiple points of gravity in the same level) that would be the center of gravity (again, either infinitely or within a determinable sphere (disk) of influence).
If this is impossible, or outside the scope of your workload, a compromise would be something like an Attract-o-gel tweaker and the ability to turn off all gravity.
Central points of gravity would be both easier and better than attract-o-gel imo
I wish that kind of tool existed alongside the gel if not in place of it
It would be so much better, but I don't know how they code gravity other than it seems like they just tell it "make everything be drawn to this direction on this axis". I admittedly have no idea how hard or easy it would be to tell things to fall to a single point from any angle. 🤷🏼♂️
I'm not gonna say it'd be the simplest thing in the world, but it's been figured out in multiple different manners with older titles (R&C2 comes to mind), but with modern engines like Unity it becomes even easier
I just realised you could (probably) child the player object to something that the hypothetical gravity mechanic would revolve around
I was thinking more about that Mario game where he's on little planets, but, yeah.
And with a local camera, you could literally have the start and end be in the same place without backtracking.
And if you could reverse the effect, you could have the whole thing be on the inside of a ring too? 🤷🏼♂️
center points of gravity, exactly what I'm thinking too
I was just giving a much older example of that even if it didn't have multiple sources at once
with the camera, I'd have rotating it with the gravity be an option per-source, some people may not want camera rotation at all in their level, or not have it on tiny planets
Maybe something like this or the level info UI we see in the LBP games would be good for when you need to check on your progress in the levels.
(it's from Super Mario 3D World /gen)
What is /gen?
It’s a tone tag meaning "genuine".
Those feel so unnecessary to use like 99% of the time
yeah ppl overuse tone indicators, and even invent ones that do nothing to help indicate (or even worsen) what the message means like /hj
Is this what boomers feel like
someday we'll all be out of the loop
This is exactly what it feels like.
...Isn't it usually hard to convey tone through text, though?
Not really :3
/hj?? Horse Jumping ? 😅
yeah had to look that one up too, apparently it’s halfjoking
I just assumed the camera will have a local option that could be used in unison, not mandatory.
Tine tags are useful for neurodivergent (especially autistic) folks and sometimes indicating tone through text in general since you can't really do that without something like a tone tag (like with sarcasm vs being genuine)
It is actually a lot easier to indicate tone with text than tone indicator defenders say... Stylised grammar or spelling and using absurd words replace the need for an explicit indicator, but even with that in mind, I'm not saying they're completely useless. Sometimes you just want to type something straight up in the same way you can speak it, and that is one case where I deem a sarcasm marker actually useful
I haven't used it in a long time because I don't type in public that often anymore, but I like to use Title Case as my personal sarcasm indicator
Idk at the very least it is very useful for neurodivergent folks, like myself, who can easily miss the implied tone in text (or even in person).
I'm not a fan of that generalization, not every ND (myself included) wants or even needs that. I've recently come to the conclusion that the (majority of the) desire for this has come up because of social media bringing together people who aren't remotely compatible to the point where they can't even understand each other, maybe there's an aspect of FOMO in that regard 🤔
I personally find them very useful (and have friends that do too) so that is what I am basing it off of. Specifically because specifically autism tbh I wish I could have them IRL sometimes lol
Will there be more feminine body types/or even hair for the stuffys?
Body types don't seem like something we are getting. But it would be cool.
at most I'd see it doing a similar approach to LBP where clothing items themselves would change body proportions if necessary
sackboy as an optional character (to be/switch to (And all accessories to be compatible with him))
sackboy is currently in Roblox
and Roblox has not taken down that character package
so under my assumption, its fair use and not considered copyright (I think)
heres why I would think so, these many examples
Customize your avatar with the Small Sack Boy and millions of other items. Mix & match this bundle with other items to create an avatar that is unique to you!
Customize your avatar with the Sack Boy and millions of other items. Mix & match this hat with other items to create an avatar that is unique to you!
Customize your avatar with the Sack Boy Backpack and millions of other items. Mix & match this back accessory with other items to create an avatar that is unique to you!
Customize your avatar with the Happy Sack Boy Meme Head and millions of other items. Mix & match this hat with other items to create an avatar that is unique to you!
they are literally all over Roblox so I assume it wouldnt get copy righted
Yes Sackboy is in Roblox, however it's player made content and not by the developers who made Roblox themselves. Just like many other characters, that I'm sure has copyright to them are in Roblox (An example is Shadow the hedgehog). If the devs here gained permission to implement Sackboy that'd be a different story. I'm sure eventually down the road there'll be modders who will probably figure out how to reskin Sackboy into the game. In the meantime, try to get accustomed to liking Stuffy.
lol
sackboy would beat stuffy in a fight
100%
They wouldn't fight 😊
He literally walks around with a needle as a sword, not unlike Arya Stark, who has a sword called "Needle"
His goal is to weave peace
It's not a needle as a sword
So he's not killing spiders with it in the trailer? I'm confused now.
No. He’s definitely just re-stitching them in a way that they can live free from the pain caused by their mortal coil.
Alfonso sounds like Adam Savage here...
Theoretical if they fought for whatever reason
Sackboy is beating his ass
It all depends on the opinion of the writer.
Nah
If the writer was biased yes
But if we’re speaking with the actual facts… sackboy wins this
Does stuffy have a slapping mechanic for trolling purposes?
I think not
Facts? It's all arbitrary.
Also thinking about it now
This is a unfair matchup
We know nothing about stuffy and his accomplishments
💔
Haha totally
Custom UV material. Obviously there would be concerns, which is why you need a strict ToS for a game like this. "Violation of ToS will result in the ban hammer"
Nah
It would result in an influx of crap to be moderated
I don’t think this is a good idea at all
With or without any form of warning
Plus, it would hinder creativity more than stimulate it
Completely out of topic but I'm curious to know just how far am I from receiving the Community Veteran role lol. What's the requirement for the role again?
10 years in Trixel server + 2500$ (excluding tax) spent in donations
And that’s for the beginner veteran role
Ah. Well thank you lol.
In reality, I have no clue
Hope this helps
(I think it requires sending a certain amount of messages)
you only become a veteran when you stop caring about becoming a veteran
Interesting. Well maybe one day.
So for some reason i always found collecting prize bubbles in littlebigplanet VERY satisfying, maybe it was because of how theyre chained after you collect multiple, how the popups just fly around, the sound or special effects
With that said, i really wish for the gift boxes in this game to be as satisfying to collect because collecting is often my favorite aspect in games like that, and if it was as satisfying to do id be really happy
Itd be cool if stuffy would fly up when touching a fire hazard object, like in sm64
It would probably be a fun addition for some levels, but again SOME, so id suggest making it a toggleable thing, maybe even a slider to change temperature(height at which stuffy would fly up)?
🤔
Being able to play with a playstation (4 or 3) controller
you can
why do so many people ask that
Except in create mode...
that i know, but why so many people ask for ps4 controller support specifically
pretty much every game has that, it's industry standard
I did have a idea where you could go 2D on different surfaces to do a unique form of 2D platforming like in Mario or Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds.
Fireworks
Could be like a missile but instead of going down it would go up for a few seconds then it would go down and make a firework effect when it explodes (pls don't judge me if i described it like a 5 year old)
And make them grabbable :3
An ability to just draw something with a mouse save them(as stickers)
then turn then convert them into a building material
Maybe also upload png as stickers? A lot of nsfw shit will happen though
Having pets before you can go into levels
Like a farm
It seems to already be in, but a logic system very similar to LBP and perhaps slightly improved. Like color changing logic that was a dev only object for lbp3. Would be nice to be standard.
i hate it

Did you know that LittleBigPlanet 2 for PS3, technically had false advertising in one of its box ar...
What if they added false advertising? /J
💡 Please allow bombs to damage the environment so that we can recreate the Tower Bomb Survival levels.
Bombs only chunked cardboard, sponge and Styrofoam, right? (I consider destructible material as foam, because it looks like floral dry foam, which isn't polystyrene, but it's closer to that than the others.)
I wanted to have connectors and bolts to make contraptions
guns
bow and arrow cause that's way more fun than just a simple raycast
maybe even use the thread 'n' needle as the arrow!
@fallow spoke i fully agree with this
DM’d you 👍
I'd rather a weapon with an emitter on it, like the Creatinator..., but maybe not a helmet...
@mystic nova the 'weapon' could different types of needles, or possibly a crochet hook
I definitely think a customizable hub area would be sweet. I think it would make the game feel way more interactive/add another level of customizability compared to if there was only a menu :)
Perhaps it could take place in a house? Or maybe a treehouse? A barn?? A shed???
Even just the ability to customize the title screen could be cool (like how planet customization worked in lbp) being able to change palettes materials and add stamps/ Ornaments to it would be cool
Calendar-inator
Choose scheduled day and time for an event to occur. Choose the duration and whether it happens once or repeats. This can be used to make your worlds do something special for that time like celebrating an anniversary along with other things that can even be a limited time or an event for the weekends.
(Also I couldn't think of a name.)
Water
Could work like a normal material, but could make the player swim (also, with an option that could make it so that if the player instantly drowns in it, drowns after some time in it, or doesn't drown in it)
(And maybe objects that could make the water an electric hazard when put in it? Like a tv)
Can we get a pod or something it’s just so important I feel like we can’t forget about it. You could even make it have a keyboard like the ps4 controllers from og pod or make it change depending on what controller you’re using that’s if you add controller support
Is there going to be team picks from user generated levels
For your question. I BELIEVE the answer would be no because it's through steam workshop. If you're unfamiliar with steam workshop it'll likely be "Most Popular, Top Rated All Time, Most Recent, and Last Updated" Then specific things. Hope this helps. I could be wrong though.
This could be nice but something different than pods like this, that's for sure.
Yes I agree not the same but close to the pod like a keyboard as the controller and maybe a tree house as the pod or something that fits the theme in the attic
Also can punching be a trolling option like the slapping when you use a quick action on the joy stick
Trixel has been pretty adamant about anything pod-like or other create space lobby permutations being a definite no-go for Restitched.
Bro I am saying they could add punching instead of slapping
But still make it a quick action
Is there a from of emitters
Robloxs moderation sucks and sackboy is trade marked
Maybe you could make slashing someone do what you want?
Can we make solids mountain ⛰️ so they don’t move in mid air
The terminology you're looking for is static, the mountain is just a representative for the word "scenery" as opposed to materials intended to be in play, which is referred to as "dynamic" (the bouncing ball)
^
I can't do more than half my projects without some sort of first person or vehicle controller logic that gives me direct controller/keyboard and mouse to logic interface
exactly
Otherwise it's going to look very Charlie Chaplain in Restitched...
Or metropolis...
☝🏻Stuffy
Sadly they have said in the past they don't plan on making anything like the controllinator (at launch at least), we can only hope we get it in a post release content update. (And Ig tbf it wasn't in LBP1, it took Mm a sequel to get a lot of more of these features)
So seeing that those accessories are still up this statement doesnt work
"Roblox moderation sucks" is copium to my point and the items are still up if they were trademarked they wouldve been taken down
They literally have all the characters too. Swoop, toggle, etc
roblox moderation is bad,
roblox is using ai as their so called "moderators"
for ugc and other things
i think
read a bit about it
(Most of the mods are ai and most are humans)
Materials like transparent wood...
https://youtu.be/uUU3jW7Y9Ak?si=eeZkMYGWqc6_4q6-
Check out http://KiwiCo.com/NileRed for 50% off your first month of ANY crate!
A few years ago I tried making transparent wood and it kind of worked. The pieces that I made were somewhat okay, but I was never really happy with the result. I finally decided to try it again though!
References:
• Procedure that I followed: https://bit.ly/3b0YXu...
Magnetic material. (Attract and repel)
Uranium Glass that glows green in the dark.
(Or whatever color you want, I suppose)
The ability to dynamically change materials or some kinda dynamic material like a glass that switches between foggy and clear
These are so niche I cant see them being useful to the general audience
What an odd thing to say to a bunch of creatives.
Creativity brews from constraint
I do believe some form of magnetism would be a great addition. But transparent wood and uranium glass seem like overly specific material ideas that wouldn't really bring anything of value to the table.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion.
While I agree they're overly specific, it's not hard to break them down to a core idea.
Uranium, for example, could be simplified to materials that glow in the dark. "Invisible wood" could be a setting that allows you to adjust material opacity, or even apply a blur effect. These are broad, flexible concepts that give players room to experiment and create whatever they want, without tying them to a single specific item.
With glow in the dark materials, you can make uranium, you can make lamps, monitors, TV screens, etc.
With opacity control, you can create windows, glass walls, cloaking effects, censor bars, and maybe more.
That said, I don’t think it’s helpful or healthy to shut people down for being specific. Creativity does brew from constraint, sure, but if you can't take someone’s idea and extract something useful from it, like, anything at all, the lack of creativity might be on your end.
I know 😄
I didn't shut down any idea I just stated how I can't see them being used much
You can definitely take away broader concepts and apply them elsewhere
Ten pin Nixie tube number displays that can be hooked up to logic.
A giant octopus
aw.. that's a shame
I like everything so far except the bubbles it messes with my head why are they teleport areas can we make the bubbles invisible
And can the gifts be bubbles or another way to get items with logic etc idk
Maybe instead of being invisible, they be redesigned after the many checkpoint concepts they have. The one on the bottom right i think is more fitting for Restitched
I would love for some props to have unique capabilities like having the electric fan blow out wind, pushing away light objects
this could work for the Egyptian levels where there could be sand storm segments where the fan can blow away Stuffy
Also i would like the sensors to have a mode where the radius can't phase through walls
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH4_Cms2yNA
IGN's Guide to getting all Teensies and a Gold Lum Cup in Rayman Legends! Here is the Walkthrough for the 20,000 Lums Under the Sea Level: The Deadly Lights.
I would love it if we could change the style of the bubble if we wanted to or could decorate them with ornaments. Like I could see the fire concept working well for some levels and other stuff may work better other times, like a door you might want something invisible but something else you might want one of the other ones
I like the worm whole one it reminds me of the worm wholes in lbp or purple version of ricks portals from rick and morty
Do you think the props like the fan will be able to be turned 180
I dunno
This looks so good man...
some way to add custom models
haters can hate
we're not trying to get a lawsuit speedrun world record, sorry 💔
you're just a hater, free your mind of all these disturbing vibes.
Trixel Cre-hate-ive
This ralsei isn't nearly as wholesome as the real one
Speaking of...
Deltarune collab / DLC?
I'd pay top buck for a Lancer stuffy
That would be awesome, Deltarune is a masterpiece of storytelling.
That would be so cool.
Ralsei costume... just sayin... itd be like, cool and stuff
also not 100% impossible I don't think, toby fox is pretty awesome
This is a thread for features, but we also have one for outfits and cosmetics 😄 https://discord.com/channels/323250883179839508/1313492312306745397
i mean, having a transparent material that DOESN'T slide all over the place would also be nice
Oh shoot, sorry! I was barely conscious when I wrote that so I didnt notice lol
If you are good enough, you can create whatever you need to. 👍
"Reddit atheist level myth here" 🙏 😭
No? I made a working Atari on LBP. Since the system is extremely similar. I plan on remaking it on ReStitched aswell. 👍
I was mocking some dude
My favorite feature would actually be to have the game before 2099
This is a fact. But I feel like they could give us a solid game within the year. 🤔
Probably but they wont
Probably not. Although we may get the beta within the year. 🤔
A option in settings for another player in edit mode don't change anyting in a level
Controller vibrations (Xinput) and adaptive triggers for the Dualsense controller (for example if you use the stitch hook mechanic)
This might sound like a silly request but:
I’d definitely like to see a music editor akin to LBP’s :3
nothing too much, a good collection of instruments, the same piano roll, maybe add effects like echo, reverb, panning, the good stuff like that!
But I think a cool idea that could be added here that I don’t believe was in the original (once again, haven’t grew up with the original game) is definitely
MIDI support! (plugging in a compatible keyboard and
recording (which I think is a good subfeature for this MIDI support idea)) the notes onto the piano roll as an alternative to having to move your cursor over a key and having to adjust using it)
-# (I didn’t know if I should post it in here or in #1402261640447131740 but this felt more right to put it here)
Imagine synthesizers in Restitched.
costume pieces that apply filters to stuffy
Ex:
pixelated
black and white
glitchy
transparent
2d
cel shaded
Uh... Uh... Stuffy doing a backflip or som
A water level (like in LBP, which is water, but inside the whole level and not in just 1 area)
Forget that. I just found the entire synthesizer soundfont for PC! 🤣
The ability to make custom music in level creator, reminiscent to the music sequencer that LBP2 had introduced
Absolutely! Put their own spin on it too.
Well i was a sticker and photo collecter in all of the lbp games. i think itd be fun to still have that same feature of putting stickers on your character or on worlds, i remember every fall id always grab the 3d nest and bird and decorate my pod to where you could barely see anyone
i just thought itd be a fun little addition
I just want a lack of FOMO. Lots of DLCs over the years of LBP's life would get delisted or be super exclusive.
✅👆
Native controller support
I'd love to see a slapping like lbp feature aswell but it doesn't have to be slapping
was thinkin about a forum that was related to the concept of a sackbot-type thang in restitched. i think this would actually be Very Important for story related levels (the ability to record actions to make it look like you're interacting with a real stuffy). and also horror levels . can't forget the popularity of horror levels.
whoopsies forgot to add a minor additional-detail. in said forum people were wondering what it would be called. methinks a wind-up toy could be neat ... could have optional stylization based on that . . . .
-# oh, yes, and i don't know if the game will have unlockable cosmetics through story mode, but the wind-up toy key (the back thing) could be a cosmetic item unlockable by some means. maybe like. finishing story mode. or something . if it is to be existent and something you can wear it should not be immediately available yaknowwhaddimean. people would want this cosmetic item and it would be good incentive for people to actually play story mode and not just abandon it for the community levels
okay i'm done runs away
by any chance can you guys make the snout removable?
Then it wouldn’t be Stuffy! 😓
the snout is Ineradicable...
Could have different animal snouts? Like bear snout, beaks, bills, etc. 🤔
Cuz i rlly wanna make humans in the game
I don’t think this is the game for you then…
I mean. You could make something psuedo human. 🤔
snout human
embrace the silly nose ...
YES
unfortunately we already got FOMO
- Custom Music
- Recorded mic audio
- Imported audio (without using the mic audio)
"Just to start so I can read the ideas above and not resend"
I aslo had an idea for power up and since stuffy uses a form of Sowing Needle here's a good start "if there's none"
-
Glowing Apple : Turn it into a Glowing weopon to do more damage and swing it
-
Hammer Head : turns it into a hammer and have the ability to spin it to fly or double jump
And if you hold jump falling it spins for a slower fall (slower not gliding) Got this from a custom LBP level -
Ball and chain : tie it to your sowing needle to turn your water levels to platforming levels
-
Super spring : Dash in a direction like hallow knight or jump on your weopon like scrooge mcduck from an older game and you can also use it to get to higher places. Can also compare it to the springinator Oddsock had
-
Propeller bit : Attach a propeller to the end of your sowing needle to Blow away enemies and also use it to Fly a short distance Can also be used to fall slower but practically glide so not a hammer head attachment
Steam Deck compatibility would be cool idk
I own a steamdeck it would be good
mate didnt hear that there wont be any powerups
i heard that the game will be playable with controller but not the editor
True. Steam deck and build mode would most likely use touch screen in that case.
Oh I forgot about that then it’ll be fully playable I suppose
Some kinda voice modulator/TTS so we can have some kind of narration in our levels (without the potential copyright issues with imported audio)
Steam deck also got the ability to change Controller to mouse and keyboard options in the the steam settings
Some sort of logic to change the dualshock/dualsense colors
You mean the tracking light that the PlayStation camera tracks?
yeah that I guess
Alright this this is gonna sound crazy and annoying but DLCs baby!! If possible like deadpool and all that jazzy but its just a game idea! Maybe have some free DLCs so like from all sorts of characters from heros to games, kinda like little big planet, I do know that there will be unlimited customization but just felt like it should be said!
If licensing wasn't an issue, this would be a thing. But the people who own all those properties would want licensing agreements that are reasonable for a big company like Sony, but prohibitive for a small developer like Trixel. Who knows though. Maybe if this game gets bigger than the devs realized, they might have some spare change to do something like that. I think what's more likely is smaller colabs with other indie brands like the contest that is going on now.
I gotcha!
I still would love to see free updates or dlc crossovers with other indie games, that is pretty common to see actually. Usually it goes both ways too, so stuffy would appear in some way in someone else's game. Like I could imagine Little Kitty Big City having a crossover with this for example.
That's kind of the other side of what I was trying to say, minus the specific example you used. 🙂
I do wanna see the wardrobe test as an open demo at some point
you and me both.
Me three! 🫡
Isn't that a plan?
it is definitely being looked in to but they haven't confirmed anything yet
After having thoroughly kicked the tires on the Wardrobe Beta, I have a request for a new kind of Stamp category. Recolorable: (same as the item system, with sliders and hex code entry, and possibly a new slider if you can manage it... opacity).
A square (and maybe rectangles), a circle (and maybe pie wedges like 45, 60, 90, 120 and 180), various triangle wedges, stars (five point, six point, and medallions, hollow and solid), various gradients, halftone (the existing halftone shapes should suffice), lines of various length and curve (including no curve at all), hatching, cross hatching, scalloping, and anything else you can think of that would assist custom image design.
OVALS
Ovals would improve my quality of life immensely.
@outer egret
I absolutely LOVE this suggestion, so I wanted to also potentially add to this;
I'd love to see ways to add material properties to stamps,
This would make it so that portraying things like fur, leather, skin and custom eyes a lot easier. Very similar to what Modnation racers does!
additionally a bumpmap modier would be really cool to see with stamps so creating eyes and clothing details can really pop.
A way to make players tied together
like a multiplayer exclusive level gimmick
i personally think if this is a feature added (and assuming it's added to all or most stamps) it shouldn't be like a color overlay that makes the stamp look funny, it should be like a hue-shift feature. I think hue-shifting would look better overall, but I have neither actually tested the game nor have any idea how much more difficult it would be to implement it.
It would only really be useful in the more intricate stamp designs, though
Unfortunately, individual stamp recoloring just isn't possible unless we were to fundamentally rework several systems including all of Stamping (+ breaking old content)
We'd already thought of it, but the way Stamps work just doesn't support it
Halston be like...
Could the overlay work? Maybe it could be something you can enable or disable, maybe just like filters or better yet some special stamps that have an adjustable transparency (or at least partially transparent) and are customizable.
My thought is something that is separate from other stamps, maybe called something like filter stamps or just filters
from a technical level there's no way to edit individual stamps because they all get added and saved to a single material
and we wouldn't easily be able to add effects layers as just more overlay materials, plus each extra material can be a big performance hit in Unity
we've explored it all, but it's just not likely to happen :p
but the wardrobe is still super powerful in other ways, so I don't think it will be an issue at all!
the character editor is more powerful than 99% of games you guys are good
Performance is always an issue.
I hope you guys could look more into stuff like this post-launch (even if it would have to be implemented differently), but I get it may just not be possible at all.
I think it may be worth re-exploring some ideas here after 1.0, looking at it all with a fresh set of eyes. Even if it still doesn't work for this game in the end.
We're always willing to revisit ideas later when/if we have more time, and as long as there's still interest! It's not easy though in a game like this, because any update that refactors the way something works will usually break all the player-made content that existed before it. So we probably won't introduce major features that require reinventing existing features. Not only do we not have time, but we could spend that energy making new stuff instead.
For example, we could either figure out a hacky way to make Stamps special and recolorable at the cost of months of time, more bugs, and breaking old save data... or we could spend that same effort avoiding bugs and adding a different feature that's equally as useful, like a paint mode or player ornaments.
So it's always tricky but that's kind of the thought process behind stuff like that
That is kinda also what I wanted to get at, revisiting stuff like this may give you ideas for new features that better fit the game, in a similar spirit to the suggestion. Like for this I could see a paint mode being used to achieve something similar maybe, who knows. ^^
The wardrobe was a classic part of LBP. But the most import part of the game was the level customisation, going into your own world and making your own levels, vehicles, missions was the most important aspect to me, how much of that part is currently made?
I'm not sure how I'd relate it to LBP (haven't played those games in many years), but our level editor is the bulk of the game and the hardest part to develop. We have most of the groundwork laid for it, but it still needs a few important missing features and a good bit of polishing and new assets.
We also need to continue working on adding multiplayer support, which isn't technically part of the level editor goals but kind of ties in with it all
Our recent blog post link in #📣│announcements has a general list of the tasks we'll be working on this year 😄
No worries, I am not a game developer, I work in manufacturing and I know how long products take to make and you lot are making / remaking one of THE most technologically advanced games to have ever happened on PS3. Thankyou for taking the time to respond to me.
I think that is a very important part of this game, cause like it will help a lot with its longevity and growth imo.
People playing together, is part of the heart of what LBP was too, cause if you didn't create you probably connected with others through the game. I would love to play this with my friends or join others in general in this.
That does make me think of something though, do you guys have (or plan to have) an in game chat and do you think you'd add VoIP integration?
I'm not able to comment on anything to do with multiplayer yet, but there's no doubt we'll share more when it comes together
This is a weird question, but the source code for LBP 1, 2 or 3? were they ever made public?
No I don't think that would ever happen, since it's protected property of Sony
But this is a forum for Restitched and feature requests, so let's keep it related to that or otherwise post in #💬│chat please 🙏
Why not allow this system for only specific stamps (specificly white shape or gradient related stamps) to allow hue shifting? I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to add, and would solve the performance issue. Much like how LBP has only certain recolourable materials. I'd love to create things similar to what I would through sticker panels but on the character
It's the same reason regardless of the stamp image, sadly
#🧸│restitched message
there's a bit of insight here :)
Will there be ways to make custom stamps like pictures in LBP?
It is another way to solve it if say something like sticker panels do exist
There aren't any plans for that at the moment, just since we're focused more on the essential features needed to launch the game.
I would say it is something that can be essential especially for outfits creators. As it uses both the stamps, level editor, and the wardrobe
By essential I just meant fundamental stuff that takes up all our time, like making sure you can make moving platforms, play with others, use logic, etc.
Anything that isn't super vital to the core gameplay gets pushed to the wishlist pile of ideas, which we try to fit in when we have time or hope to revisit later when the rest is done!
Ohh alright! That's great to hear!
I kinda want some level of customization of the main menu, even if it is just like materials, or colors
My Ideal though would be something like the way you could customize your moon or earth in LBP2 with materials, stickers, and decorations
that would be very cute actually . the ability to put stickers on your main menu
I personally would make it a priority. 99% of my time with friends in LBP was in create mode. Not having it is what killed Dreams for me and I think many others.
Im not sure if this is implemented but can you guys please make sure to implement a fundemental simple feature such as the ability to slap other players to mess with your friends just like in littlebigplanet?
Would be even better if there could be a super punch (works just like the slap in LBP but you get knocked out further) AND perhaps a dash punch (half as strong as super punch)
Adding a simple set of fight mechanics could also bring about another level of creative levels.
If you guys arent fans of adding more fight mechanics, then perhaps atleast something as simple as a punch/slap would be enough for messing around with friends.
save it for Restitched 2 😁
Raphael, is that you?
It's almost an inside joke now, but anytime we mention a complex or ambitious idea the lead coder responds with restitched 2
lol
and it's been this way for years haha
but we love that he stays reasonable <3
and no there is no restitched 2 before someone takes this out of context 💀
Restitched 2 confirmed
with the time being taken into development there's no need for a restitched 2
that's true abt any sequel
that's true abt any sequel
that's true abt any sequel
That MIGHT be true about any sequel
maybe.
Ya know ... This might sound basic but i Hope you can turn certain objects invisible while creating
I agree with this suggestion, either that... Or better: An option to disable other players from copying/deleting objects in your creator altogether. (A feature something like Magma actually has)
This might alright be planned but customizable global particle effects that cover the whole level would be nice
Like snow, rain, falling ash, wind, clouds or smoke. :0
I personally expect basic moving connectors like pistons, string, winches, motor bolts.
beyond that though, things like logic gates and a million sensors and the more advanced logic probably should come in a future update. that's what I've been hoping for personally.
Sequencer so I can create music in the game.
I think scaling the camera with the level editor and in game menu system would really give it that same LBP feel. I could imagine some digital design like a hologram or wadded up paper that extends forward a bit would be quite easier, but due to the console limitations I think that is essentially the only thing defining the layer system. The way I am thinking of it is like a messy scrap book or the South Park creative intros.
Way to make anything controllable like the bees n rabbits from avalonia. Something diffrent is like go karts in 2D?
i saw this.
and i thought what anybody like me would think
"NPCs. we need programmable NPCs."
many costume pieces i wish had the ability to be mirrored
such as hairstyles or the eyepatch
gloves/wrist items too, but also it'd be nice to have the option of only one hand having a glove instead of both
Yes yes yes yes
Something like the Controlinator would be fun
I remember LBP fans creating creations with that, making anything like drivable vehicles or creatures like dinosaurs for example
i wish certain body parts like wings, tails, and ears could have an option to copy the currently selected skin
that alone would be a MASSIVE improvement
it could also be nice if there was an option to have stamps keep the texture of the thing you're placing them on, but i understand if there's some weird technical reason that can't be done
makes sense
are there gonna be more inclusive hairstyles?
like braids mainly
ykw nevermind it occurs to me I didnt properly look at the wardrobe lol
background... active in background. still just the demo for now, obviously, but I like to open up the game and then alt-tab to do other things (like check Discord messages or whatever). The game doesn't load into the title screen when I do that, so I still gotta wait the 3-ish (or more) seconds for the game to pop up the play button ("Enter Wardrobe" on the wardrobe demo, i suppose).
pls active in background ty
Please add a way to update outfits without having to re-upload your Stuffy, just an option in the menu that allows you to select a new outfit saved in order to update a Workshop listing. Also, would love to see UVs being adjusted to help avoid colour spillage (Around the arms and inside the mouth!)
oh this reminds me of a feature i REALLY want in the wardrobe
the ability to place stamps underneath something else
like. i keep wanting to do stuff like put bags under stuffy's eyes, but it so often locks onto the eyes instead of the body
i would love for there to be some way to stay locked onto a specific part
Would make things more creative
man, i hope all the little nitpicks i have don't make it seem like i dislike the editor ~_~
i absolutely LOVE this wardrobe
i just have a lot of little roadblocks i hit that, if cleared, could make it soooo much more epic
anyhoo
a lotta the skins i feel could benefit from having a secondary color option
and, perchance even a tertiary color?
two that came to mind for the former were the tabby and starry skins
and as for the latter, ones like the bee or the basic stuffy skin
it'd be nice to chance the colors of the spots on the main stuffy outfit
3 dimensional Stamps, and a name for them. Attachments? Yeah, that's a good name. Stamps & Attachments
those are in the full version to my knowledge
dw
i think one of the grayed out options is that
recolorable stickers
Hazards like what little big planet has
For example, the freezing hazard that was fully scrapped would be fun to bring back but included in Restitched for ice/snow levels
would it make you become i giant ice block? or just kill?
Yes
When standing on it for too long, you would be frozen into a block of ice and have to shake your controller to break free
which got cut
not sure if this was stated somewhere but different type of heads for stuffy like frog head, insect head, those little wooden maniquen head things, etc
allowing hairs to go with hats im trying to make a character with tophat but hair keeps going away which is killing the design
clothing's that have particle effects or effects in general
Would be cool if some of the cosmetics that have only primary color also have secondary color for example you can't edit color of the toppat hat ribbon around it
Resizing things like hair so they don't clip
Some of these are on the to-do list for us! 😄
secondary recoloring was added a long time after primary was, so we have to go through all assets and manually update textures
which takes like 10-15 minutes (at least) per item, and there are hundreds 🫨
I don't know if this will be in the game but having customizable needles/threads would be great for anyone to mix and match, lots of variety to come up with
For example, slashing enemies with your needle looking like a sword and swinging around with the thread being a chain
i believe they are customizable ! unsure as to the extent. i just remember seeing something speaking on it in the qna or something
it'd be fun if ornaments could be stuck on them. yes this could be absurd, but only absurd to the player and anyone they're with so a terribly glitched out needle sounds very silly.
would allow for such things, in a more / less (Depends on Ornaments) limited sense .
Now that there's the ability to save over existing workshop costumes.. I think that adding the ability to allow the author to allow remixes or not should become an option to avoid others from creating potentially offensive outfits of other's characters, or even just re-uploads.
i think it would be cool if there would be like a stamp editor/creator menu where you can put together multiple stamps and recolor those stamps by adjusting it's hue/brightness/saturation/opacity, that you can then save and reuse whenever as if its any other stamp
this could save time when you put some stamps together to make for example a smiley face and then you realize you want to have that on a different shirt, then you wouldnt have to redo putting the right stamps together
like a custom stamp preset sorta system?
ye
I would absolutely love a story mode, not sure if that's been implemented or not
There'll be an adventure/story mode
that's so awesome nice
okay so like, this is something i should probably bring up
it's really hard to effectively recolor dark hair without stamps
so can there be like. an alternate version to all the dark/brown hair that's blonde or while for easier recoloring?
Hi, do you maybe have some examples? It’s possible they don’t fully support recoloring yet. With hundreds of assets we may have missed a few also. 🤔
Usually all hair should be white, then the design tool overrides that with a color tint. If you use the design tool on the hair, can it turn white?
i actually have one specific example, although it was from a few patches ago
this one right here
if memory serves, the hair was FFFFFF
alongside the hat tbh
neither of them were able to get purely white like other items
this tends to happen a lot with darker items in general, unable to be properly recolored to a brighter color without looking dark or washed out
Ahh I see
I think the issue here is with how the base texture is made. If it were to go too white/bright, it can lose some of its shadow and detail or get overexposed. This usually happens because textures weren’t made to be recolored, so we have to manually edit them to support it.
Or it could be there’s an AO map on the material to give it some artificial shadowing.
It’s probably possible to make it a bit brighter to get closer to true white, but I’d need to look into it further.
ah, makes sense
i mainly bring it up bc it's usually fine enough to work around with on clothing items, but hair felt more pressing to bring up
hair comes in a lotta colors
Yeah, I understand. When I import cosmetics I usually try to make hair and beards pretty white without recolor. But sometimes it ends up gray if making it white overexposes the details.
With more careful editing it could be improved, but usually we try not to spend too much time editing the texture since this has to be done for at least 300+ wardrobe assets alone
But thank you for letting me know! I’ll look into it for sure
