Infodump, expectations and how to apply below
What to expect from this campaign:
Most if not all characters, planets, locations and storylines are homebrew. Factions will be a mix of canon and homebrew. Essentially, it's a slightly alternate universe Post-OT, where it is informed and staying logical to the canon established in mainline star wars media (not legends), but not restricted to it. I am a new DM not only to Foundry but to Sw5e, I have some practice, but wouldn't class myself as 'experienced' in this system yet, so don't expect 100% smoothness, though I will be striving towards it.
Here's a big thing- I don't like the ship combat in SW5e so I will not be using it! ship combat will be mostly RP/ ability check based, but is not going to be heavily used in the campaign, until I either fully understand it and form my opinion on it, or I figure out a good way to do it without the SotG rules.
In terms of locations, as far as the story goes, the plan is that we will have 1 'central' planet which I have the most content prepped for, along with a second planet I have a decent amount of content prepped, and then several smaller planets with only a few major pieces of content planned, for side-stories/arcs.
The 'main' planet is essentially inspired by concept art from Star Wars 1313, so we will be exploring both the undercity and the upper class city of a planet modelled after Coruscant (but with homebrew lore etc). This does not mean that we will be stuck on this one planet, as I will do my best to adhere to player choice and shift the focus of the story as needed.
The other planets are planets generally inspired by other planets seen in star wars. My DM style is weighted towards RP/exploration, but I enjoy a healthy dose of combat, I create most situations to be solvable through both combat and RP to allow for player agency.
What I expect from you: I'm just going to say this up front because it has been my major pain point, I don't want players who will argue with me over lore. My campaign is set on planets never featured in the star wars canon, and set in essentially an alternate timeline, so please respect that I don't want to debate you over not adhering to a piece of lore from an obscure comic I have never read. Other than that, I want players who are respectful at the table, able to stick to the scheduled game times. Players who are enthusiastic and engaged with the story and their character, have a clear idea of their character's personality and will engage with the story and environment through the lens of said character, as I enjoy presenting conversations as a back and forth between the NPC I am portraying and the PCs, rather than having disengaged one way dialogue spout.
Please DM me to apply- do note responses will be sparse, as this campaign will not be starting for at least a month and a half, as I am busy between now and then but will try my best to eventually get back to every applicant. You can send me a message on this thread just to register your interest to reserve a potential spot, but by June, I'd want a character concept, no matter how vague, in order to give me a sense for the typical kind of characters you play, doesn't need an extensive backstory, just to get an idea of who you like or would like to play. Tell me what your playstyle is, what your preferred RP/combat split is, general info I should know about you (especially including time zone), any and all questions you have for me and a fun fact. Once I've received this, in June at some point I will reach out to you if I like what you've outlined for me for an interview to get a grasp of who you are as a person, then decisions will be made. Deadline for applications is Mid/late June, so until then, applications are open!
I would
great! the application window is open till June ish, at the end of the infodump, there is a section explaining how to apply to me, just gather that info and DM it to me by then, I will get back to every applicant I can by mid-June, if I don't reply instantly that doesnt mean you're not going to be considered
Got it
this sound interesting ill be sending a dm soon
to anyone asking whether there is still room- this will remain open until June, up until then, it is still free- in Mid-June I will be reaching out to a select few who have given me all the info I have outlined at the end for interviews. if you do not provide me with the information I requested, you will simply not be considered.
Reminder that applications for this are still open.
I'm interested! Personally, I always wanted to play a sw game as a droid 🤖 beep boop!
