Touhous community is also pretty cool and general the people I've encountered are friendly and willing to explain Touhou if people don't understand something from it

There are 18 mainline games and 4 fighting games and more recently 1 platformer

All the mainline are danmaku shooters

If you wanted to try a fan game. I recommend Touhou: Luna Nights as it's avaliable everywhere now including the Nintendo Switch. It's a metroidvania style game

If you want to try a fighting game I'd recommend Touhou 15.5 Anitomny of Common Flower.

It's an airborne fighter with projectile play

Also avaliable everywhere now I think

It doesn't play like your standard fighting game though so be warned.

I can't really recommend a game from the mainline as they stretch as far back as 2008 and unfortunately they have not all been archived or made legally obtainable super well. But you can find from Touhou 15-18 on Steam. It will come in all Japanese be warned.
