I think that you should do whatever you want, but also think about how you want your character to feel to audiences

Personally, I would keep the sword and get rid of the scythe, but do what you feel is best.

If you're going to have two weapons, they should both be useful in different ways. A greatsword is powerful, but something to attack quickly would also be nice to carry in a pinch. A knife, or a small grass cutting blade could be a good compliment in that case..
