First of all, it is downright miserable for the first 20 minutes man! There's a scene of a dim landscape with clouds moving that lasts an entire darn minute before finally being interrupted by a fool running into the camera

Ghost in the Shell. The movies, TV series, and manga all have different versions of the characters so there is a lot to dissect. There is the old stand alone movies and the new Arise ones who are both very different. i believe there are a couple attached to the TV series so you'd probably need to look up the order of those. (Arise is kinda a prequel series of movies so i guess you could watch those first but idk if i would)

if all of that is a bit much i'd just watch Stand Alone Complex and Second Gig. The TV series. For the best version imo. Either way you do it is going to be a lot to dissect, it's pretty heavy on philosophical and political topics. (from what i remember it's mostly in world politics)
