Both are good gadgets but last stand just isn't my preference shredding can give you some good healing to make up for it but it ultimately comes down to what you think is better

And it is also good to have both because they work better in different game mods

I don't know if this channel can be used for DND, but I'ma use it anyway.
I think I figured out how to fix martial classes, and I want to get outside input before I do stuff with it
I looked into the Mystic, a forgotten 5e class that was never officially released for complexity and balance reasons. However, something I found that I could be scrapped is Disciplines.
Basically, depending on the subclass you pick, Disciplines give you permanent buffs to your character, along with a few abilities you spend psi points on, and most of them are buffs that don't necessarily relate to magic.
So
What if at level five, while wizards jump in power due to fireball, the martials do as well with a few Disciplines, say three, from that list with a few tweaks, with the flavor of "your fighter trains and conditions himself to combat, he now has a +1 to ac" and stuff.
I don't know if this should be alongside 5 level features, or replacing them, but like how the warlock gains new invocations, you should be able to gain new disciplines as you level up.
If this all makes sense
