I am in the process of getting Guilty Gear Strive. Does anyone have advice?

Depends if you have previous experience with fighting games or not. If you don't have much experience in fighting games I suggest learning the basics of number pad notations when learning inputs. That way it's easier to learn combos when picking up a character.

Then once you pick up a character get into some matches online to learn common interactions between your character and opposing characters you'll face. And don't get upset should you lose online matches, as the main experience of fighting games is to learn from your mistakes and improve.

Then you should be able to pick up on Strive's mechanics fairly quickly. All characters share similar inputs when implementing overdrives (which are supers that use bar) and other commands.

Strive is made to appeal to a more modern fighting game audience after all.

Never used Asuka much, mainly because the people I play against that use him show me that he takes alot of damage if you don't maintain distance and use the right spells in certain close combat interactions.
