Roguelikes are my number 2 as its simple that you kill, die and repeat, but difficult in that you kill, die and repeat. Everything is randomized from the very start, forcing the player into creating a setup that would benefit them the most through current/future levels

Through a limited selection of weapons

A good example of this is dead cells
Each run you start off by collecting a random sword, shield and charm, but the setup mainly relies on which of the 3 classes you want
If you wanted to go with a brutality build then you would find that brutal class weapons would be most effective
Same goes for survival and ranged

You can also collect pets and traps that rely on the same logic

Balancing out stats will not help you within the game at all, as Roguelikes are more about power and damage rather than health and survival. Every level is brutal with its own set of challenges, but you can easily avoid losing health with higher damage output

Things like Genshin impact, the legend of Zelda, etc
