To my knowledge just use them sparingly, my strategy for that boss is to wait to attack until it's going down the slope, then you can just run after him while aiming diagonally up and spamming missiles

If you still run out you'll have to use the charge beam

I usually follow behind him, but it's not 100% functional, he flies very fast and I don't always hit him in time, his strategy looks interesting

yeah just hold on to them for now, to be honest, tridents arent the greatest weapons, fun to use, and have some cool uses other than as a weapon, but swords are just better at melee, and a good bow is just the best thing for range

riptide is a fun one to play around with, you fly with the trident when you throw it, but you need to be in water, and it needs to be raining to be used

and channeling will cause anything hit by the trident to be struck by lightning when it is storming

but those two enchantments cant go on the same trident

so the trident has some cool uses other than being a weapon

and there are other weapons that perform better at close combat and range, so its not used as a weapon much anyway

some people like to use riptide trident to help them take off when using elytra without using rockets

and when its raining, you can use the riptide to also give yourself a boost as you glide with the elytra instead of using firework rockets like you normally would
