I have a couple starry background overlays. So I mixed them together with a slight gradient to give it a nice hue

In all honesty, backgrounds are one of the more simpler parts for me when it comes to stuff

What I like to do is pretty much take more generic images and kind of creatively use them to create backdrops

I used a simple cloudy background I had laying around and altered it a bit

sometimes making a system to do something ends up taking equal time but it's fun to make usually so I don't mind

I can't give rules to a machine that will do what I want for a given pic

exactly, with a procedure it's a lot harder to add animated elements like that

a lot of the times it's about making one that's flexible, at least for me, like a pixel art shader I did a few weeks back for blender

Of course for something like that where you want some effect like the hair or the lines at the hand, it's better to do it manually
I just have a thing for using effects artfully. Of course any digital art has a component of digital aid (even subtle like line smoothing)
