Me and my friend at school worked together to add some lore to these guys. They are called the Mantikin, but were called Species Epsilon by scientists upon their discovery. They live in underground hives with many drones (males), and a Prowler (female), rather than a queen.
The difference between a prowler and a queen is that eusocial insects have a queen that coordinates the behavior of the colony and relies on them, while a mantikin prowler is just another member of the colony that happens to be female.
Prowlers (the much larger ones) mate with the most fit males of their colony and often allow the others to help care for their larvae. After mating, a male's body degrades until they pass away peacefully, like an octopus.
The aforementioned larvae, it turns out, are adorable, especially the males, like this one.

I think it looks great but comparing with some reference images should help if it still looks off to you. (Maybe even just look at some irl jeans if you have some)
