how do you stay motivated to draw? i always get to the part where i need to smooth stuff out and just feel so drained and then leave the project…

Honestly I struggle with that myself, I haven’t made a finished piece in god knows how long

I get too disinterested in my current work, go to do something else, and then when I come back to it I end up starting something new

Maybe you could try bouncing between subjects

Pick up a drawing you forgot about at a later date with a new eye and motivation

the last project i worked on was for a friend, i was so happy to draw it for them, but ever since i failed to finish it due to some issues i havent had the motivation to finish an art project

If it’s an issue outside of art then you don’t need to feel pressured. I know that’s easier said than done, but it’s probably better to try and work through whatever else is going on if it’s stressing you out that much

Don’t pressure yourself to make art or force yourself to finish it, it doesn’t have a deadline unless you’re doing some sort of paid or promised work

I can’t really give much advice then unfortunately. Maybe in the meantime you can try other forms of art, or you can draw things that you usually wouldn’t. You can approach art in a way you usually wouldn’t as well, or try a new medium

Maybe instead of drawing for example a person or character, you try drawing an object or a landscape

If you usually work with ink and pencils, try some pastels, colored pencils, watercolor, etc

ive been trying to get into digital art… but at the moment im working with a mouse, i have made some silly drawings one was for a friend, but i just cant replicate my skill with a pencil when using a mouse

Check out some non-screen drawing tablets, you can get pretty good ones at good prices now. You’ll be looking at the monitor when you draw so it will take some getting used to, but it’s significantly better than a mouse

I say this because that’s how I started with digital art too, with a mouse and nothing else

I’d recommend XP pen, you can find them really easy even on Amazon. They have good sales too

I got a 80 dollar tablet for like 20-40 bucks, works like a charm
