As for this, I reccomend imagining a light source in either the top left or top right corner, and adding shading on the opposite surface of wherever the light hits something

Like just as a quick example, the white circle in the top right is the imaginary light source

Highlights are always on the surfaces closest to the light, and shading is usually the opposite side, and underneath anything that's blocking the light too sorta

Top right is usually the most natural placement of an imaginary light source for me, idk why
