More mirrors

We need more mirrors and not just limit them to the f/a 26. It can be useful because you can look behind your plane to detect missiles or enemies on your 6

The issue with that is that only the FA26 has a bulb canopy

a singular top mirror will not work in any other aircraft and side mirrors may cause sizable performance loss, in addition to only working in the T-55 and EF-24

For obvious reasons, mirrors would not work at all in the AV-42, F-45 and AH-94

The actual use of the mirrors is so minor for the performance impact they have

being able to turn them on/off in options like how DCS does would solve that issue

the 24 would be super useful to have because

• seeing behind you is actually pretty awkward from the front seat
• seeing sweep state as visual reference quickly is nicer than looking down at the indicator
• seeing damaged componets (missing tails, bites out of your wings) in the mirrors is a lot faster/more convenient than turning 180 degrees around while trying to keep your now damaged aircraft in the air

its just awkward and easy to lose in the clutter

i have like 500 hours in the 24 and i think ive comprehensively used that indicator like twice

yeah but its buried under the 100 gorbillion other HUD assets you have to see, it gets lost really easily

Not saying more mirrors wouldnt be cool but as is the performance impact on the one plane that has it makes it not worth using

Its also just a very small and indeterminate indicator, besides max/min sweep, its basically impossible to look at the indicator and say "yep thats like 35% out"

When at a glance in a mirror you could tell

I think the EF24G should definitely have mirrors, the T-55 could have them (maybe angled left/right for the pilot if the WSO obstructs the normal back view) and the F-45A could have side view mirrors to easily check your wings, but it's not necessary and I don't think the F-35 has mirrors irl, anyway.

using the 14D as reference, this is what would make the most sense to me for the 24s mirror formatting front/back seat

the mirrors are off unless you toggle them

so theres no performance issues unless you have all three, which occasionally happens in the su47 mod

I’m not opposed to the more mirrors so long as it doesn’t introduce more lag- i think war thunder and Arma 3 have awesome ways of getting the point across for the mirrors or Picture in Picture settings- but i dont see necessarily translating to vtolvr as there isnt a high/low graphics attention to vtolvr

Most of the time when piloting your head should be on a swivel regardless and especially with the EWO/RIO in the backseat

granted my chair is a swivel so I dont have to strain my neck as bad when turning around but i see and dint see why mirrors wont be added
