I suggest a more interactive damage model focused on "Skill-Based Survival." Currently, damage feels too binary—instant explosion or flying . We need a middle ground where pilot skill and emergency procedures can save a crippled aircraft. This isn't about a hardcore sim, but about providing tactile, "hands-on" solutions in a crisis.

Tactical Visual Feedback: Use physical cues like cockpit sparks for shorts, wind noise/oil streaks for canopy breaches, and visible vapor trails for fuel leaks to help us diagnose issues visually.

System Failures & Backups: If sensors fail, we should rely on analog gauges or "reset circuit breakers." I'd love manual hydraulic/electrical backups and emergency gravity gear drops. Even landing with only 2 out of 3 gears would be a thrilling challenge compared to just exploding. Same for GPS monitors and so on.

Actionable Wing & Fuel Damage: Wing hits should cause leaks and alarms, forcing the use of cross-feed valves or tank shut-offs to save enough fuel to make it home.

Manual Fire Suppression & Restarts: Add physical fire extinguisher handles (like the A-10 mod) and manual mid-air restart procedures for engine flame-outs, rather than the engine being "dead" forever.
And so on, we can surely come up with more ideas and variety for different flavour modes! Use the comments!
Scaling Complexity:
Complexity should vary: older airframes (AV-42/F/A-26) would use manual handles/switches, while the F-45 uses automated MFD integration to reflect its advanced technology.
Closing:
Fighting for the aircraft’s life makes the decision to eject a dramatic choice rather than a simple "game over" screen. Even if not 100% realistic, it would add massive immersion and reward pilot skill. This would satisfy an itch for me and many others in the community! But, as this would be optional, you can still just reject if you choose to!
