#Allow TSD deployment of the GBU-53 stormbreaker bombs

currently the GBU-53 has to be manually slewed to a target with the EOTS before deployment, leading to slower deployment of said bombs compared to the gbu-39's which is supposed to be less high tech, this change would allow the gbu-53's to be launched from a target on the tsd assuming a high enough confidence, also benefiting from datalink (a feature of the bomb irl) for guidance

#

I put this in the TOO post but seperate post is good

#

This would also allow to drop through the weather more easely

signal owl
#

But it's a optically guided bomb? The bomb sensor has to see the target

fallow nimbus
#

The AGM-145 is labelled as Optical in game despite being mmW radar (apparently)

unkempt tundra
#

Yeah + irl the bomb has link16 datalink, so it can get a datalink guidence

#

(also this would presumably be able to let the bomb automatically target the door on hillside bunkers assuming the angle is correct)

unkempt tundra
#

This might be impractical, but also possible retasking should the original target be destroyed

If this gets added into the game, then i feel an overall addition to any munition that can be launched on multiple sources of data (like 120Ds going after tsd vs radar, this, TOO for gps if that gets added) should be a little text/indicator on what source you are using, like for this text like EOTS that changes into TSD or sth, otherwise it may be a bit confusing

heavy obsidian
#

you can do the same with AGM145s

#

lets you shoot 145s over 60nmi

fierce shoal
heavy obsidian
#

unvtol yourself

fierce shoal
#

That... doesnt change anything?

heavy obsidian
#

And you still need to take your hand off of the throttle to do anything lol

fierce shoal
#

Ah, so just giving unrelated answers... got it

heavy obsidian
#

You cannot mark GPS with any of the throttle buttons so its not relevant

#

And taking your hand off the throttle is like.. hardly an issue

heavy obsidian
unkempt tundra
#

Not really

heavy obsidian
#

You want to use the GBU53 from TSD

unkempt tundra
#

Tsd deployment allows for datalink

heavy obsidian
#

I told you that you can by clicking the EOTS button

unkempt tundra
#

Using eots doesn't

heavy obsidian
#

You can drop the bomb somewhere near the target and it’ll automatically acquire it

#

Through LOAL

unkempt tundra
#

You're missing the point

fierce shoal
fallow nimbus
#

we don't want to have to press "slave", it's like asking for radar employment in the AH-94

heavy obsidian
#

Thanks for clearing it up

#

It’s better if you just tell me you don’t want to press slave

#

💔

fierce shoal
heavy obsidian
#

like that makes it a lot more clear what you actually want

unkempt tundra
#

I'd honestly thought you'd still disagree
Hater brain mentality for me

heavy obsidian
#

like target deconfliction?

fallow nimbus
#

yeah

unkempt tundra
#

The 53's are supposed to be very smart irl

heavy obsidian
fierce shoal
fallow nimbus
#

smart genius bombs

heavy obsidian
#

I’ve never had that issue

#

And it’d have to be within the CR ring

unkempt tundra
#

But rn 53's in vtol are just sdb versions of gbu 12s with FaF

heavy obsidian
#

And smaller

unkempt tundra
#

Yeah

heavy obsidian
#

and lighter

#

And you can have more of them

#

I mean I could say the same about the 145 vs the 114

fierce shoal
heavy obsidian
#

The 145 at least does

fallow nimbus
#

point is : the near future game doesn't have the 20 year old tech

heavy obsidian
#

as long as it’s within its able to hit target area it can hit

#

the only times I have issues with LOAL is when it slams into a building thats hiding the target

#

but yeah I’d also prefer to have Autoslave for TGP and EOTS

#

hold down the TGP button, it turns green, and its now in autoslave?

fallow nimbus
#

not even auto slave

unkempt tundra
#

I would say this would allow top down attacks for Inbetween buildings but probably unrelastic

heavy obsidian
#

The F16 mod does it, HUD/MFD upgrade does it

fierce shoal
heavy obsidian
fallow nimbus
#

just shooting a tsd track rather than a TGP track, just like aim-120 can be TSD or Radar

heavy obsidian
#

Lock on After Launch

#

find its own target by itself

#

Means you don’t need to have accurate eots data

#

I use it all the time for shooting from behind cover in the AH6 and AH94

#

Never failed me with the AGM145

unkempt tundra
heavy obsidian
#

GBU53 uses the exact same system

fierce shoal
fierce shoal
#

Ill test it

heavy obsidian
#

Never had it not work on a moving target

fierce shoal
#

Cuz i know sometimes it works, but from my experience not always

unkempt tundra
#

In my opinion for 145's, loal only really works well for stationary targets

heavy obsidian
#

never had issues with it myself really

fallow nimbus
#

2-way datalink, so if the bomb spots something (like infantry that nobody has seen yet), it gets shared to the entiure network

heavy obsidian
#

Other than when it goes behind a building and the agm145 slams into the building

heavy obsidian
#

But yeah

#

Good suggestion

#

Should be added

unkempt tundra
#

(would be interesting if a retasking option got available, maybe chuck in the cruise missiles too)

heavy obsidian
fallow nimbus
unkempt tundra
#

And auto targeting doors on hillside bunkers

unkempt tundra

heavy obsidian
unkempt tundra
#

Anyways, that's besides the point

#

Tsd deployed 53's 🗣️🔥

fierce shoal
#

And hopefully the 145 too!

unkempt tundra
#

That being said, how would everyone feel about other munitions having tsd deployment, munitions such as 89's, 161's, 145's and all gps bombs

#

I would assume gps bombs would work like how the gps too suggestion works

alternative - put EOTS ASLEW into the vanilla TSD.

unkempt tundra
#

still doesnt solve the issues of moving targets behind cover

Good point

auto slew is intended for A2A use of TGP/EOTS. It would feel like a stopgap for A2G. Same applies to FCR employment of AGM-145 in the 94
