Imagine being in a long mission with a lot of flying and not a lot of action, you want to stay immersed in the game and not just take off the headset for a few minutes and look at your phone, instead you could just open up Youtube or a web browser on an MFD and just chill, it would also be amazing for relaxing because I find being in the cockpit of a fighter jet to be really cool, so it would be awesome to just hang out and watch Youtube. I don't know if it would be possible but if it is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do it it would be awesome.

you can do sth similar with overlays
Yeah use steam overlay
how do you do that?
im not sure how to use the steam overlay
try ovr
is there any way to do it for free because I dont really want to spen $8 im kinda broke
use steam
You open stream vr menu and click the plus on the vr menu taskbar
Brainrot VR
This but so I can control Spotify to, yes I know there’s an mp3 player but that won’t work for streaming services
As dumb and brain rot as this is I love it
no you dont
zoomers got to the flight sims
the west has fallen
trillions must have a longer than 3 second attention span
wtf I requested this like half a year ago 😭
hahahahhahahehehheh
i do not want to put my account in there xd
like putting your youtube account in vtol vr just sucks
makes your ram want to self-destruct
Gotta zoomer rot myself away while dropping gbus
Sorry but not even I can advocate for this considering the fact that you can do something vital for the mission while flying to your destination in the time you probably would have pulled the video up in the first place. You could spend time coordinating with your team on how to approach a target objective or scan the area for threats you didn’t notice before.
There’s literally no point or reason why this is needed.
Not to mention that realistically only 2 of the 6 vehicles could even use this in the first place, adding onto the list of reasons why this isn’t needed
Even more so, you’d be hard pressed to find an actual internet connection in the air without giving yourself away, let alone at all.
You can add any desktop window in VR with the Steam overlay
https://youtu.be/QOtBF5o1b5Q?t=5
I've done something similar, adding a Steam overlay in VR and positioning it where the virtual screen is.
I managed to play Project Gunship in VR inside Angel of Death using the SteamVR desktop window overlay.
I’m just saying it would be kind of fun, I don’t think the devs should ever focus on doing something like this but if they have extra time it would be a nice feature, I know it’s not realistic, but I don’t think people really wear bright yellow gear and have bright blue skin like half the pilots in the game
Something else is that new players could easily watch tutorials in game without having to figure out the steam overlay or take off their headset every few seconds to watch the video
xsoverlay exists and unity's built in video player is kind of stupid, not to mention baha would probably need to write a lot of stuff to make resolutions and audio proper, plus needing new context menus and submenus for it
it's really just not a good enough addition to be worth putting time into when you already have an overlay that takes a few minutes to figure out. also I'm 60% sure OpenKneeboardVR supports videos already anyway
I’d use it if it happened
I’d watch a tutorial for what ever I’m doing while in the plane
Yup openkneeboard does support it
And steamvr base interface does
How though?
and then the issue is that you may end up becoming reliant on the tutorials rather than attempting to memorise and learning from your failure - you'd have to pull up a tutorial on how to operate GPS bombs, and then a laser bomb since you didnt have another GPS bomb, or how to properly use AGM-65s, or how you should do a BFM properly
point is, this is useless and is legitimately just peak ADHD
ngl people that actually want this and don't realize it's a joke suggestion are probably the same people that find being an EWO to be too stressful in the EF24G
I am peak adhd
But id really use as a reference point
Or like to play music and stuff
newgen peak
like on a serious note
what is this ACTUALLY going to do
cant you just use oculus overlay or something
or maybe just get immersed in the actual game
there is so many cool mechanics and things to do
but I don't think watching youtube while flying a virtual fighter jet could EVER understand any circumstances be one of them
rant over
p.s. if you find the game that boring don't play it
It's not that it's boring per se, it's that endless scrolling shortform is awful for people's health lol
give it youtube, but disable shorts >:)
but that fits so perfectly in the vertical F-45 screen slots
and you can use thumbstick and and down while youtube is SOI so swipe !
it's too late for him guys.
Gotta keep in touch with my podcasts while flying 😭
THIS CANT BE REAL LMAO
Yes, we need this. Bvr fights get boring sometimes
its truly joever if that happens
family guy funny moments instead of rwr
Peter what are you doing?
Peter's voice "ROLL RIGHT"
"hey lois, ROLL RIGHT ROLL RIGHT"
"This is just like that time I got shot down over Mụ Giạ Pass"
Imagine your copilot had to listen to this
Nah but imagine chilling in the cockpit of your F-45 watching drewski or whatever
exactly
can you use steam overlay and the game at the same time
I would never watch youtube normally again
yeah I would hop in an F-45 free flight and pull it up on all the screens and just chill
That's what steam overlay is for
you can even position the steam overlay into your hand so you can pretend to be watching youtube on your phone while flying a fighter jet
Oh god imagine someone watching a video on how to BVR EWO and they are your backseater.
Same energy:
Exactly
That second image: https://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/digital_data.png
This what I do in dcs
I watched a video on using mavericks in the phantom on the way to the ao
Imagine someone asks to show you a trick so you hop in a T-55 and you hear "How to fly a plane in VTOL VR"
