First, I'm for this post. But I really wish we could have more difficult SAMs to make this feature more useful in my own opinion.
With the older HARMs, or atleast the ones you use in DCS and BMS on the viper have 3 major position launched settings which I think would be great if all 3 were added since they all have their use cases.
RUK : Range Unknown
A HARM will launch and at will activate it's seeker at 30nms in a wide FOV to try and detect the selected radar. Great from long range defensive shots on SAMs that are dangerous, but not able to move without a precise known location.
PB : Prebreifed
The launch mode used when you have a high confidence that the target is within a certain point. Seeker enables at roughly 13nm with a wide seeker FOV
EOM : Equation of Motion
The most precise HARM option used when you can direclty corelate a SAM with a steerpoint or SPI. It engages its seeker at only 8nm and has a very narrow seeker FOV. In my opinion this could be a great counter to Decoy radars
