#AGM-65 Variants

I'd reduce the variants to 2 warhead types
but have a dual mode seeker like the agm-145
just to reduce the clutter of having lots of variants
yea
gameplay wise there's no difference between optical and IIR
and TV guidance is cool, but that sounds more like a cool thing for a new weapon (agm-130 for example)
I think AGM-130 having a non-boosted launch mode so it just acts as a defacto GBU-15 would be nice too
All good points
an optical weapon shouldnt be usable during nighttime
whereas an IR would be
TV is unusable during nighttime or cloudy weather. Optical is
what weapons are optical that arent TV
always kinda figured optical was another term for TV
the GBU-8 is "Electro Optical" but its a TV sensor
idk what kinda voodo magic youd have to be using to see through clouds
radar guided weapons can see through but from what i can find online optical guided weapons cannot see through clouds
gameplay wise there's no difference between optical and IIR
talking about VTOL here
TV means the pilot/wso is seeing the live television (TV) feed of the weapon’s camera. and doing the guidance manually by giving command inputs back to the weapon.
The TV camera can be visual or IR and it is an optical instrument. But within the context "optical guidance" implies a FaF weapon with an optical sensor (again could be visual or IR) using contrast (or other) to guide itself
bumping this post, adding a laser acquisition mode to the AGM-65 is kinda an easy way and also natural way to add additional use to the AGM-65 without more varients.
The AGM-65 can already crack a bunker and delivers good AOE to clumped units.
Also while i realize the EF-24 is just the modern version of the F-14, why we cannot bring AGM-65's feels strange, considering almost every other AGM is available.
I mean, the F-14 never could carry AGMs other than ADM- TALDs.
It could carry rockets, dumb and laser guided bombs, and A/A missiles
It was tested with HARM and HARPOON tech, but never fielded
Even something like the EA-18G doesn’t carry Mavs all that much.
However, I think Laser or Optical ZUNI rockets for the 24 and 42 would be sick
More damage than Hydras, but less than AGM-145s
There are some very fun AGM variants this game desperately needs
The Mavs we have now are Optical, but work much like IR or CCD Mavs do
Actual old “TV” guided Mavs which focus on contrast would be nice, as well as dedicated IR and LAS Mavs, and small/large warhead variants too
Along with a non-boosted variant of a large warhead mav, much like the AGM-62 Walleye
Which also uses contrast
(The later Walleyes were even Datalink guided by Hornets)
