Flying around recently the game feels so complete apart from the terrain, I know it would be a big push but I'd love to see real world mesh for the environment. Not a world scale streaming like MSFS just specific areas as custom maps. Also thinking that making Mod support this could be a way forward where a low poly terrain is imported as a file.
#Cesium or other Real Earth based terrain

the solution to this would be to allow us to create higher res terrain ourselves, so that way baha doesn't have to go through the effort of maing terrain (cause that's a lot of work)
idk about higher res, I think what it's at now fits the game. Texture variation would be nice though. Like iron in mountains or deserts
plus the reason baha made vtol vr is so people didnt have to spend lots of money on peripherals and to have a good vr specific flight sim
the game is still immersive anyway and can run well on most pcs newer than like 7 years old
sorry but I disagree on 2 parts
- the terrain textures are comically big, look at this image, the grass blades are massive
- the texture size for the height map results in REALLY bumpy terrain, you can clearly see where the mesh has it's vertices
yeah, I'm all for a texture revamp
he created it cause there we're no VR flight sims with interactable controls
not with clouds
just not like photorealistic like dcs or msfs. Idk how to explain it but it kinda has its own charm
@keen umbra the terrain tessellation is like this very quick drawing, I'm on my phone
it's something like 1080p for the whole 200km map
where the red dot is the individual pixel height
so it's very low poly
oh thats not great
it works for making heightmaps quickly, but it kinda results in very geometric terrain
yeah
i mean the lower poly has a charm to it but higher poly wouldnt hurt
(I am a ps2 gamer)
I wonder what the actual file for the grass texture looks like
I gotta know how the dimensions of it are lol
