#FA-26B Remodeling
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
I think if we are ever going to have a third MFD then it would be a tablet that only has nav map because that's used real world, but it does need a redesign, something kinda like the AH-94 color scheme, the black just looks so good compared to the light gray
something like the vpad+ mod but on;y nav map
i love how this thread hijacked the 3rd MDF one
I think F-16 style "MFD subpages" would be a good fix, but i personally don’t feel the need for an extra MFD
I think the only reason I would like a third mfd is for my nav page as when I fly I prefer to have it up, then you could have something likf radar and tgp or arad and tgp or jammer and tgp but with nav
Well, part of the redesign would be a modified cockpit
personally while a new jet would be awesome the 26 needs some love
I want resize mostly
remodel should be light
canopy
wing and stabs a little bit (make them parallel)
the nose is a lil ugly
that’s about it
Cockpit is a different issue, i think it’s just too big and should be brought to the standard of the 24
with the hook shaped hook switch being the best example of it
Imagine the hook switch being on the right like in the hornet / phantom?
i don’t care too much about that, makes sense to be on the left with gear and flaps
45 park brake on the left is hell for me lol
yeah, but if it stays a small switch to fit on the left console, it couldn't be hook shaped per se
idk tho
Imagine all the broken liveries that come with a resize though
Cockpit remodel sure, resize feels like its tons of work for not much gain
If the model weren't changed at all but scaled down 15%, I wouldn't see much change in liveries.
If anything, the distance between details would be smaller, so a smaller livery would be in order.
The UV might be corrupted from a change in scale though.
why would scale affect texture ?
shape yes ofc, but scaling down wouldn’t change anything
I dont think it needs one, but it does seem to be a multi-role aircraft, so it may be beneficial in a way
a different variation maybe?
Texture would be lower res
Less physical room
idk, I'm a modeler, not a texture guy
I have not touched UVs in blender yet
If you scaled down you could try to keep the same UVs, but only if you only scaled and made no changes to geo
At all
Which might look weird
Personally, I'd just give it a whole new UV to the same quality of the 24 or 55 and let the community fix their liveries to use them
Or! (hear me out,) allow the community to express their wishes for model changes or updates by allowing us to submit models for evaluation to be put in game as new or updates to existing craft or units.
like mods ?
Like in an official capacity.
yooo i love this
not sure if it was your inspo or not
but wings almost instantly reminded me of the mig29
for me it would be radar nav equip and tgp
It had an oversized cockpit layout, which was actually because the resolution of VR headsets at that time (in 2017) was not high enough.
Setting the game in the near future allowed for some creative freedom with fictional aircraft design. I asked developer Paolo Encarnacion about his approach to the oversized cockpit layout.
https://www.roadtovr.com/vtol-vr-hands-on-developer-interview-paolo-encarnacion/
Part of the reason was to make it easy to interact with the different controls, but the main reason is to allow the text to be large enough to be read in current VR headsets without having to move your head too much. The collimated Heads-Up-Display, which is projected at an infinite distance no matter where your head is, needed to be very large since you can’t move your head closer to it at all.
Currently available on Steam in Early Access, VTOL VR is a very promising combat flight simulator with a focus on ‘near-future’ vertical take-off and landing aircraft, developed from the ground up for VR and motion controllers. Not only does it demonstrate that motion control is viable for this genre, but it also enables a greater …
As the resolution of VR headsets increases, the cockpits of new vehicles are getting smaller.
whats that green helmet
Being that that was 7 years ago, it would be a good idea to update the old models to be in line with paid assets
That green helmet didn't have a visor display, but instead had an opaque monocular display.
It was replaced by the current helmet within two months of the 2017 Early Access release.
It didn't even have an oxygen mask.
god damn that head model looks so cursed, and I thought the 94's was scary.
The monocular display is kinda cool though ngl
Like the IHAADS on the apache
it would make sense if the 26 got like a F-15X cockpit
Nah, just cosmetic, no change to performance or Situational Awareness. Just be able to wear the new style helmet in the older aircraft
Same for the 24/45
but opposite haha
Honestly kinda weird that they don't
F45 pilot forgot their helmet in the briefing room lore
No
More screens are not necessary
Should have current style MFDs
I like the customizability that a screen like that would add. It could be a mission editor option of sorts or just a variant of the fa-26 in itself. Its not gonna fully replace the 4th gen cockpit. It would also satisfy the people who want a 3rd mfd for the 26.
And since it dosen't have a TSD or the HMCS upgrade that the 24 or 45 gets, it dosen't make the 26 have the same SA that the 24 or 45 would. Its just a MFD upgrade to make it modernized.
I'm not opposed to a variant* of the 26B with an upgraded cockpit, including a new digital fuel panel*(!) and different displays.
Remodeling the cockpit would be far less work than rescaling the plane and address like 80% of people's complaints
perhaps.
He could always leave the old version in the game as to not break any existing missions, but add a new one with a different cockpit and call it F/A-26C or E or something
While yes, it would satisfy many people's concerns, having the aircraft downscaled to a more reasonable size would make the aircraft fit into the world better. Not to mention, moving the refueling port behind the canopy or on the shoulder (BAHA PLEASE I CANT SEE THE TANKER LIGHTS) would be baller.
im kinda sad the av42s old cockpit didnt get this treatment
its the easiest aircraft to refuel
nah, the old 42 cockpit was too bulky. the new one is perfect
i concur
Still need a new 42 variant, but the cockpit is nice already
Though larger leg portholes would be cool
i dont have any sttachments to the old cockpit, but was hoping for expanded plane variants with the old ones as options
I know right? cough cough
New variants for each aircraft would allow the addition of P&D refuel
i feel like the engines of the yellowjacket would struggle during high AoA since no variable geometry air intlets
I mean, they’re based off the legacy hornet, and it has no issues at High AoA
guess thats true
I’m sure alternate intake scoops could be fitted or something to supplement the design. Not sure where though.
As long as they aren’t located on the outside of the engine inlet like the 42
Like wat
I also still think an early 26 variant with an early F-15C-like cockpit would go hard.
I will forever be the 26's strongest and loudest defender for more features and variants
nah that actually looks like shit
we've already got 2 aircraft with screens
the 26 isn't supposed to be modern like that
if you want the ease of use with the screens, fly the 45
i appreciate your opinion but if its not for you then thats fine.
My headcanon is that the 26B is nearing its EOL in the current "timeframe" of CAW OPs, nearing 2036/2037.
its not for me, and you can have your own opinion, but the 26 should stay a bit older in terms of tech and use MFDs like it does now
we've already got more modern aircraft
Hence why it should be a variant.
the whole argument of things being unique, and then you want more screens in this cockpit
doesnt make sense
variant is fine, but not replacement
Agreed
I never said it was gonna be a replacement, did you read my original reply?
Keep the "legacy" 26B as is, but create a more modern or older variant with different cockpit and overall design
I did read it
Which is why the model should be dressed-up a little better, the 26 feels weird to fly with how spacious and large it is. Sure, it’d mess with the liveries that were made so far for it, but I’m sure we’d be happy to remake them with a new model
At least two of my friends that were running CV1s have since moved to Q3 or other
It's a logical change
As the playerbase adapts, so must the game
The only other major vr game coming to mind that has been around this long (but longer) is H3vr, which gets constant updates and repolishes
Honestly, the alternative is just another fighter, but the problem is muh new feature rule makes that kinda impossible
Imo it’s time or getting close to time for the new feature rule to go by the wayside
I can get why he’d want a new feature per plane, but at this point we’re drawing blanks on things that can be added
Exactly
Conversely, we haven’t even scratched the surface of cool and interesting planes that could be added
I vote for the "at least a few new features with each upcoming aircraft" rule be retired upon release of the next aircraft. (Hopefully muh transport logi heli)
I vote, at least for after ASW
Real. A few things need to happen for that, lower water depths, a Submarine unit gets added for both teams, and then we should be able to get ASW
naval artillery actually do something
shameless plug
imagine the sheer noise and vibrations across the ship
God I wish. Imagine hearing part of the fleet firing arty from the carrier or LHD?
Why do some people want submarines?
Who wants a target you can barely take on
Fits the near future aesthetic probably
Adds another gameplay mechanic
Anti Sub Warfare
im seeing people say "make it a variant" which honestly i like the idea of
shouldnt break existing missions or liveries, allows us to get a new 26 of similar scaling to the newer aircraft
F/A-26E when :trol:
Real, also based pfp
i really just want shore bombardment from the current cruiser or future destroyer/corvette/figates etc
the cannons only shoot from point blank
battleship stuff would be great
the sea - ground interaction is super lacking, and it bothers me
Real. I look at Ace Combat 6 for the best implementation of friendly Naval assets supporting ground forces with arty or additional combat capabilities.
The beach landing mission, “Anea Landing” and “Liberation of Gracemeria” both feature the naval fleet in great detail.
and tomahawk ripples
For real. We need the Tomahawk as an option for the VLS cells on the friendly ships
and LHD launching infantry
Or just being able to use the well deck
so much potential there
LCACs, amphibious landing crews
yeah
All good suggestions, already made I believed
nah very relevant
I just want an updated 26, f22 clone because I am biased and that is probably my favorite jet, a10 clone because idgaf its a cool plane and i want it, and then something BIG and HEAVY that is completely different from what we have
even though im not 100% sure yet how something big would fit in
and im not talkin big like a little bigger than the 42
im talkin like real big plane like c130 scale
I think semi-stealthy pods with an insane penalty if the doors are left open would be balanced-ish
tbh its not even the stealth for me, the plane is just sexy af and the thrust vectoring is nuts
Yeah..
flying something like that with thrust vectoring in vr is all i want
fuuuuuuuuck man
it just shoots up like nothing
So does a lightly loaded 26
It's basically a non-stealthy F-22 with no TVC
And we don't even need TVC in VTOL, we already have the 45 and 42
yeah just not as sudden as the 22
ah cmon, those arent the same
you gotta manually do it
Not exactly the same, but in a sense, they are a type of TVC
yeah, just not the same at all
Tbh, if you want thrust vectoring there's a mod for it
But it doesn't belong in VTOL proper
yeah i keep eyeing the mod loader for anything new, im sure over time people will add more to it
i don't see how thats the case like at all
The 26 is already stupid maneuverable, you can viff in the 42 and 45, the 24 is a boom and zoom type aircraft, the 55 is a good dogfighter as long as you maintain energy, etc
I'm just saying based on my gameplay experience, we don't need a better dogfighter like the F-22.
just because the planes we have are silly maneuverable doesn't mean thrust vectoring doesn't fit, hell the viffing we have is 10x more ridiculous then thrust vectoring would ever be
Which is why I vote for Viffing to be nerfed
And why I also advocate for mods to add TVC.
the tvc mods seemed to have warped your view of what thrust vectoring would do for the aircraft in vtol vr, it wouldn't instantly make it a ace combat aircraft if handled properly
it isn't a instant win button*~~ like viffing is~~*
If it ever were added, I sincerely hope it would be one of the new features added to yet another DLC craft, and not to add to something already in game
It will at least give me an excuse not to fly it, and some way to counter it
oh yea was this abt adding stuff to existing planes? thats stupid mb for not reading far up
Well, Nud wanted a 26 variant or something that's more like an f-22
little silly why not get a baha-ified legally distinct f-22 instead
mix the yf-23 and f-22
omg if baha makes another fighter it should totally have thermal stealth
it wouldn't effect gameplay too much but just a nice little bit of complexity
I've been begging for a game with thermal or IR stealth gameplay
Hidden exhausts like the F-117 or B-2 or something
I might actually model something up
if the F-15 is the tennis court, would that make the F/A-26 a soccer field or a football stadium?
larger surface than 6 of saturn’s moons
Mirror coated F-22
oh is that for thermal stealth?
never knew the purpose of that
no know know for sure
On a related note, the chrome plating, stealth pod, and pausing of NGAD points to an f-22 upgrade 👀
Yeah
And I heard they were testing jhmcs
Which its insane that it doesnt have it btw
I wanna fly one so bad 😔
heh, i don't like A2A
but it sure would be reasuring to have some on CAP
30+ years later, still unmatched
disproven by the ef24g
What
The text in the mischief is considerably smaller than in all the others-

they said cockpits not text 😭
The cockpits have definitely gotten smaller as well
The EF24, T55 and AH94 cockpits are smaller than that of the 26 and old 42
It’s smaller
imo at least
I’m not sure if the ef’s cockpit is actually smaller than the 26 or not, but the ef’s is certainly denser and far less cartoonish
it's definitely smaller
the biggest thing is the atention to detail
in stead of giant paddle switches, the 24 has neat little switches
like the hook switch is shaped likes a hook, so nice
yes
just yes
it would
Now this is what a 26 should look like with a full AA loadout
Save those E11/12 pylons for fuel tanks
Now thats a truck
But it's sexy
indeed
FA-26 stock has such a fat nose, if you remove the radar and add a little hatch
you can make a very small bed
ong
If someone wants to, be my guest
More F-15 style nozzles, More F/A-18 style nose and gear. Moved the Gun to the nose. F-15C style canopy, F-15C style Sparrow / AMRAAM pylons.
I think Toast likes it
I think the YF-25 tails are a bit too tall. But man, does the overall model look so much better.
It does look like "little brother, big brother" to me, as it should
No more giant ass engines, goofy S-ducts, silly belly pylons, nose refueling port, side-mounted gun, hard canted tails, huge design, longer length and almost wider wingspan than the frickin F-14D...
4900L of fuel, versus 7100L
1295 gallons (9077lbs) versus 1875 gal (13,145lbs) for the based Imperials
The F-4 loadout: 4x AIM-7M Sparrow, 4x AIM-9M Sidewinder, 4x AGM-45 Shrike ARMs
And oh hey, look! Actual Naval looking landing gear!
where new fuel port?
Not sure yet
bluetooth
I borked the Probe and drogue when I redesigned the nose for the gun
It might just have to be on the shoulder like the F-15C
or kinda like on the 24?
Yeah, except on the left side because Eagle-based
Would be super cool to at least have a bubble canopy option
For those of us with stronger stomachs
Honestly even just making it a toggle would be fine
Say, I've actually never seen the center pylons on this remodel
They've been moved to the outer edge of the intakes / engine nacelles like the Eagle
It's one thing I strongly dislike about the 26's design
I am not so smart can you shpw
show
magic words too magic for me
Hell, if they were semi-conformal like the F-4 or Tornado, they'd be way cooler.
First is 26B, 2nd is mine
They do look better while holding missiles
your model seems more advanced actually
does it have more triangles than the FA-26B model already in the game
or is livery model lower quality
Phantom style semi-conformal stores
It's about 100* tris less, and about 700 vertices less than the 26B
But it's 30% smaller and most of the main fuselage is modified or completely different, save for the nose, the tail, and the airbrake area.
Ahh i get it
but
have you tried meshing greedily
to lower triangles
Not really. It's a proof of concept to get people to see what a remastered / remodeled 26 would look like
Honestly I need it as a mod
but I don't know unity
or programming
Same, but I’m in the same boat too. I’ll gladly give the model to whoever wants to put it into the game as long as I am credited fairly, as is Baha.
I'm just hoping my designs get more attention.
Give it some UVs i beg
I'll give someone the model if they want to do all the rest of the work lmao
Tempting but depends how screwed the topology is
Whats the wireframe look like?
I can see some borked smoothing around the TGP so I'm a little spooked
Actually, screw it. Send it over and I'll see what i can do
The landing gear is easily the best improvement here
I borrowed it from Ace Combat 7's F/A-18F Block III model
Oh no wonder it looks so good
Yeah I will absolutely not take credit for that part
All of that goes to Project Aces and Bandai Namco
As well as the landing gear doors, the cockpit, the canopy,
duck model? like this or sth?

that model does look good, i want to learn modeling really bad, i’ve tried like 3 times and abandoned lol.
should the wingtips be parallel to the horizontal stab tips ?
su-47 looks bigger than -27
(im trying to find a fighter the size of the 26)
The 26 is as large as an F-14D
yeah
is the 24 larger in body size or in wingspan?
Found one
new dlc leaked? (you can land inside of it, re arm and refuel, and take off again)
the fa-26 b is somewhere around this plane and the lockheed CL-1201
Was about to say, there's a plane that acts as a carrier
Although, only in concept. I dont think they ever built one
yeah
But the navy had carrier blimps at the start of the 20th century
and DARPA is/has experimented with drone carrier C-130s
me: sees airborne aircraft carrier
me: clicks
Dude people can barely refuel or land on the carrier. Not that many are going to be able to land inside a plane
24 fuselage is smaller, but the wingspan and length is larger.
it’d be a little harder than tanking
then have the good pilots inside the carrier and fly the carrier into the planes
honestly, i still would call the 26 bigger, because it just looks fatter, or you know, more bulky
True, but overall size
I just realised i never posted screenshots of my blender model on that post
I put F-45s in a slightly enlarged boeing 747
T-55 was too tall
did it fit?
yeah, but had to be enlarged a little
nothing out of the ordinary for VTOL scaling wise
what if instead of landing inside a plane the plane lands you inside it
like with a hook attaches onto you or something
like this?
#1272117343136256135 message
i imagine the tiny aircraft doing the "call the ball" callouts
call the director lights
Duck mod when?
A comparison of all VTOL Livery Reference Models:
Top to Bottom:
T-55
F-45A
AH-94
AV-42C
F/A-26B
EF-24G
This just shows you how large and silly some of the designs are. Newer hardware allows for better quality models without the larger size penalty. I would love to see more realistic sized designs.
Second Comparison is including my designs:
Top to bottom:
T-55
FA-55*
F-45A
F-45C*
AH-94
UH-XX "Blackhawk-Style Utility Heli"*
AV-42C
YF-25A*
F/A-26B
EF-24G
gib fa-55
i mean that makes sense though lol
tomcat big
i think its smaller with wings swept
If i were to add a tti for guns it would be per bullet
Based
that’d be hilarious
actual naval gear is a W
I know right!
Oh that’s interesting, good to know for my F-111 proposal
I want to see more of the F-45C
it looks cool

cool
🤝
I think another thing that could be improved is the light switches. I think the landing lights and the taxi lights should all be the same switch
from what I see on youtube, even during the day, "landing lights" are on
and you only see them with gear down
so those really don't need to be 3 switches (landing, strobe, nav)
Maybe an "Anti-Collision" switch
maybe, just thinking about it made sense to me. I don't have lights on during missions, but I will when landing and taking off
and when I'm not on a mission and I want the lights on, its one switch, and I just put gear down and already have my landing lights
The lights are definitely situational, and I do want the AI / Clouds to be useful. I had an idea for a stealth-based flight game with two ways to play, guns blazing or stealth strikes
I think its nice to have them seperate
yeah me too
its not just combat or not combat
you might not want to use strobe at nights for example
Yep
Well then you'd turn it on
I may not be getting my point across as well
What I'm saying is the landing lights are attached to the gear, and when taking off and landing they should be on, along with the other lights.
So when you are doing that, you flip the one switch to enable all those lights, and when gear comes up you have the strobe and nav lights on, and the landing lights are hidden.
So if you are flying at night and want strobe and nav lights on you just flip the same switch, you won't see any landing lights since they're hidden, but once you're prepped to land, put your gear down and you'll see landing lights since it's already on
Not a game changer by any means, was just a quick thought I put in here
Well, for things like landing on the carrier, our LSOs actually request people turn OFF their landing light, as it makes them hard to see on the camera, and makes the AoA Indexer lights mod hard to see as well
no..
true, carrier landings do have lights off
landing lights
then i don't get it
I think he made it pretty easy to understand, and I think it may warrant its own suggestion
It's like an EXT LIGHTS: OFF / ON dealy. I think the F-14 does that
a light master switch
as far as lights are concerned i'm just hoping for Landing : low and high beam (taxi and landing) and form lights IR and VIZ
IR form lights would go hard
With Weight on Wheels, the landing lights should change to a taxi light
Maybe
if only landing lights werent hidden when the gear is up. i can imagine everyone using high beams at night before merge
I would like to see this panel in a 26 cockpit remodel.
As well as the round RWR as an option
same
looks like buttons for lights instead of switches?
honestly makes more sense
buttons would be way easier to toggle on and off
nvm those look like jettison controls
Selective buttons for jettison panel, like the 24
I would like to see an aircraft with up to 90% resemblance to irl aircraft. Including cockpit.
T-55 has almost identical appearance
Awe man with this remodel we lose the F-15 look
Well, we don't know yet. My idea was just a slightly different take on the 26
Only gripe would be the litte parts that come out to the cockpit
other than that It's perfecr
well the 24 actually feels big to fly
Yeah, it just kinda sucks to land
I hate how far back the 26's nose landing gear is. Missing the cat half the time is BS
Not gonna say I fixed that issue, but I fixed it
Nah but variable air intakes >
Meh
Variable air intakes are cool and all
But you can also have the mechanism inside the intake
Also, the way they’re implemented absolutely shoot the design philosophy in the foot
On the 26?
Like, it can’t decide whether it’s trying to be stealthy or not lol
Yeah
The original 26B
The nose does
The 24 does, and it isn't even touted as a stealth craft.
Yeah, but it's far too wide and tall for that
If it wanted to be stealth, the tails would be angled at the same degree.
Hell, I might just remodel the 26 again and actually make it low observable
theres attempts to lower the aircrafts rcs where they can without dramatically altering the design, atleast that my head canon, 45 degree turns in the air intakes is kinda dramtic but uhhhh serpantine air instakes are cool regardless
If they were realistic, yes. But the way they are modeled would wreak havoc on the airflow
id love to see you do that and actually try to calculate its rcs, god what is that tool the fly out guy used
please god no
serpantine air intakes aswell despite them beign a lil jank
I forgot about that
but ya know its not a stealth fighter end of the day like 75% of its rcs is from external weapons most of the time anyways
True
Even so, that doesn’t mean it can’t be redesigned to at least match it. Like the KF-21
i mean air intakes and maybe vert stabilizers are really the only things that have to be touched to make it more stealth, both not incredibly drastic changes to variable ramp airtakes may struggle to be stealthy in all points of travel
I'm cooking let me cook 👨🍳
tho if it were to be redesigned you're prob gonna want like the rescaling and stuff
Yeah, it's big compared to the 22
unrelated but god i want a scram jet aircraft for this game, it makes zero sense but id love it so much
maybe its the top gun maverick kiddy in me talking but imagine reaching like a little bit past mach 2 (ik thats a little slow but shh) and just letting that shit rip
Yeah the ramjet would fail to ignite at Mach 2, but I getcha
Would be fun as hell
idk those test aircraft sure as hell aren't hitting mach 3 before enabling their scram jets
my source is i made it the fuck up but like its gotta be malleable
Not quite
I’ve actually studied up on ramjets in my compressible fluid dynamics class, and they need that fast airflow beyond Mach 3 to properly ignite and sustain the pressure. It’s actually pretty sweet
Right now there’s a company working on a jet-ramjet combination engine for small-scale testing
quick question, how do people get those ignited in wind tunnels, are hey really blasting air that fast?
Well, yes but no. They can’t actually run it and sustain it for even short periods of time, but right now they’re testing the switch-over using superheated subsonic air
Though ramjets have been in use on other platforms, like the X-51 Waverider
Though that’s more scramjet than ramjet
What i like about the 26 design is that it mostly looks like an F-15, but from some angles, like when you see one on final for carrier landing, it has a super hornet silhouette
I don’t want a major redesign
just
- scale down
- change the canopy
- some attention to detail tweaks, like making the side of the wings parallel to the the side of the H stabs
That last point is absolutely something I need. It bugs me so much that they don’t line up
You want the wings to parallel the hstabs? No aircraft that I know of does that (if I know what you are saying)
You mean the line from the LE of the wing to LE of the Hstab?
well look at the 26 wings, they look a little goofy
They look overextended
I just think the wing profile of the 26 is busted
That could be true too
give it F-15 wings
your models look really good
i would keep the F-15 intakes
but its clear that you want those LERX the size of lithuania
just smoothing out the wingtips is already a huge deal
I know, but I hate the F-15 intakes on the 26
It would be fine if it were the BDynamics Air Force Fighter
But it's a naval fighter
so ?
whats the issue
Every other aircraft in the game has fixed (?) intakes. As far as I know, the F-15 is the only fighter which has it in US service
I just think they're too complex for a naval fighter
no, if variable sweep is manageable, so is variable intake geometry
variable intake geometry isn’t the same tho, i was talking maintenance wise
i just like the F-15 and they don’t seem unrealistic at all
id like to keep em
Well, they aren't very good for stealth, so idk
I've heard people want a more stealthy 26 or something before
I'll see what I can come up with
well rcs wise the 26 is pretty low observable youd just need like some stealthy weapon pods
it's the same vibe as the super hornet
super hornet is a 4th gen but took a lot of steps into rcs reduction
Yeah like static intakes with Boundary Layer Bleeds and Semi S-Ducts
Idk what I've been doing for the last 3 hours. Enjoy, I guess.
My YF-25 model is years better than this latest one
I just hate the intake ramps
Looks better without
WAY better
(I still like the variable intakes more😛 )
whole lotta raptor vibes
Joe the stuff you have shown here is to die for ngl
we need an f/a-26 model revamp so bad oml-
the canopy and cockpit too..
its.. so fugly
that is the only reason I don't use the f/a-26 and I use the f-45 and ef-24 more
the f/a-26 just looks so goofy
It's the best flying aircraft, but oldest model
yeah..
Muh 30 AoA
Like I could cope with the rest if the canopy wasnt like
huge
the cockpit alone is big enough I can easily fit two happy meals on either side and still have access to all the buttons
127 knots lmao
I’ve gotten down to like 50
it’s such a silly plane
obviously departed from controlled flight
If he was, I hope he shares some deets
Yeah
The argument could be made that it would be the same gameplay loop as the wasp then.
but only so many roles exist to fulfill. Take away stuff like tanker roles, awacs, and bombers due to gameplay loop reasons and you got a bit of a shallow pool to draw from.
Looks so good. Baha when
the python is cool looking missile
Honestly same
MudHen
We need a plane with a dedicated wso
fwiw the ef-24's cockpit is heavily based on the F-15EX's
at least the front seat is
Yeah, but the EX's cockpit is a bit, just a bit overhyped
The E's cockpit is beautiful
Imagine if the 26 got an optional wide hud for NAVFLIR
Call me crazy but isn't that just night vission
The 26 hud is huge already
Resize the current HUD to be roughly 15C-ish
Eh I don’t think you should be able to hot swap the HUD frame lol
I think cosmetic options for flight suits and helmet types and stuff would be nice though
For sure
sort of yeah
except its on the HUD
not your HMCS
Its easier to see the hud info too iirc
pretty realistic, iirc the Su-57 has a t/w of 1.8 empty (ion have a source sry i just heard this from someone I believe)
well that guy is full of shit😂
wikipedia says 1.09
i think you're mixing up clean and empty? idk
i cant believe it's that low
1.8 is stupid high
with two 147Kn engines it makes sense
it's 1.09 at normal takeoff weight
so that's with armament and fuel
it's totally 1.8 bro
at loaded weight it's 0.97
fully loaded
1.09 is weapons and normal takeoff fuel load
1.8 is no weapons no fuel
i think he means on a literally empty aircraft, which going off the numbers on wikipedia could reasonably be around 1.8. but that numbers meaningless because, a fully empty aircraft cant fly sense it has no flue, and its standardized to measure flue on a "clean" aircraft. the closest to a clean number im finding on wikipedia is that 1.09 number you came up with
1.6 twr empty
rockets don't even go that high
that asf is probably the size of an a320
considering the awacs is as big as the a380 iirc
source: you pulled it out of your ass
the Su57 has a TWR of 1.09
💀
and a standard weapons load with full tank of 0.97
you must be fucking high or something
MY su57 has a twr of 2.0 😎
does your Su57 identify as a missile by any chance?
are you actually stupid
read what tyottoyt said
im not defending the Su-57 in any way, it's a dogshit excuse for a stealth fighter, I'm just saying the only thing it has going for it is it's a beast at maneuvering
partially due to the extremely high thrust to weight
Wow it really is made of balsa wood
it does
show us proof then
especially with the new AL-51's
Literally prove it
hold on
empty weight: 181,423 newton
max thrust : 167,000 newtons *2
that's 334,000 newtons in thrust
And your source material is..?
Brother Olivirus please drop the source
Wikipedia
are you actually stupid
EMPTY WEIGHT IS NOT THE SAME AS NORMAL TAKEOFF WEIGHT
why do you talk like that
because i said i was talking about EMPTY WEIGHT like 200 times
that's 1.8 empty
with 0 fuel
exactly what empty means bozo
yeah
Inoperable is what you are sayibg
i specified EMPTY thrust to weight
No plane flies with zero fuel
yeah?
Sorry “bozo”
With that logic the F/A-26B would have a T/W of 2
but you can assume that on mimimum load it's also around 1.6 which is stupid high
this being said, in a guns only dogfight the su-57 stands a chance against the F-35 (not in bvr tho)
1.09 is fuel only
0.97 is fully loaded with it’s armaments and fuel
the F/A-26 is just as overpowered as the Su-57
the MiG 1.42/1.44 was estimated to have an empty t/w of 2.2
the russians have something for uneccessarily high thrust
and for lying about their numbers
that's a whole different discussion
They almost always lie about the specifications of their aircraft.
anyways was fun chatting to you guys i need to go to school
It is a given at this point.
When reading about russian aircraft that aren’t declassified, take everything with a grain of salt.
If you notice, I also said that number is worthless because
- A plane can't fly when it's empty
- It's just not how we measure TWR
Yes I know
I wasn’t implying that that’s useful
But it is impressive
It’s more than contemporary fighters
Of course, this doesn’t mean anything in how effective the Felon is
I stand with my point that the F-35 is the best combat aircraft in the world
But the one thing the Felon has going for it is ITR and STR
its cherry picking, not impressive. 1.09 under load is impressive
sorry what
i mentioned many times the drawbacks of the Felon
i LITERALLY just mentioned that 1.12 in VTOL VR for the ASF-58 (supposed to be a better Su-57 im pretty sure) is pretty realistic, since it gets 1.8 dry, which was the number that was in my head
also it is impressive
such a low dry weight with so much thrust is pretty good
Least obvious hidden bump
Lmao I get yelled at for adding another picture of a sparrow to my thread, and a Streagle GIF is just fine.
But seriously, a 2 seat 26 would go nuclear
The 15 thousand simultaneous GPS targets of the wizzo:
Wit
That's the general vibe so far
It has Eagle vibes
Looks like a MiG-29
I know. I wanted to see what a 26 would look like with actual LERX
what would this look like with the fins on the back being completely vertical like the eagle
love the eagle, not sure if those fins being completely straight is the right fit for that specific model though
that model is sick, but it looks like it has more f18 blood than f15 blood
cant tell if i like it more or not
i think from another angle i would, looks badass either way, completely vertical or not
Agreed
Vertical stabs look better with the Eagle style intakes
I also agree with that
I think the canted tails work better on the 26 as is, it would be cooler with Silent Eagle style CFT weapons bays
I want a more Eagle looking aircraft
heck with a little tweaking the wasp would look like a Eagle
Slightly bigger elevators with the vert stabs and the already existent wasp intakes would be peak
I guess if we ever get dedicated land based aircraft, maybe we could have a Strike Wasp or something that looks more like an F-15E or SE
I don't know which I would want
I would like to fly the EX to feel like I'm a red hawk but I dont want another IPad plane
or the D model
yeah
Slightly more analog than what we already have, but still kinda modern
Or some kind of choice between an early C cockpit and something like what we already have in the 26B
Or something like the F-4 AUP
this should be the B and then the current would be the C
I think this is too complex for it to replace the B
as much as i love the eagle, the 26s current design does one thing very well : it looks like a super hornet when approaching the carrier
the big wings, canted tail and landing gear i guess
Yeah, I just wish the gear was navalized
it the 26 is remodelled, is love it to be more Eagle like. But it needs to keep those hornet elements, which really make it look like a navalised plane, which it is.
Honestly, I'd like to see both. It would be neat if it were split into both a single seat Streagle version and an F-15N style like it already is
Navalised? What does that entail?
The landing gear should be heavy duty, shaped more like a Super Hornet:
Thicker struts, angled wheels, knee joints or auxiliary struts / oleos.
The 26 currently has more F-15 style gear, with a double nose wheel and launch bar
why is there 2 different locations to view engine stats
I think the 26 should keep the 16 cockpit feel, but thats my opinion
Y’know. I don’t know. I wanted the digital fuel gauge from the hornet, but forgot about the engine gauges
These type of numeric input would be cool.
what ? INS alignment
If ever we do get a remodel, a 2 seater model would be rad
Baha's probably not doing a 2-seater 26
#vtolvr_chat message
Shame, fair
Good thing my modification of his model is a low tech 26
checkmate
Honestly I’d rather tweak the old plane rather than add a new one
Difficult thing being how do you do that whilst mainting all it's original capabilities
Scale it down just a wee bit
It just looks cartoony to me in its state rn
With their fighters (at least their 4th gens) they tend to over estimate the performance of their avionics rather than the performance of the physical aircraft itself. Su-57 is probably similar, considering that although it's TWR is good, it's not like, top dog.
Also try and separate russian state media from official figures offered by the Russians. Russia state media will of course always be full of shit and never say anything worth my time.
So yeah takeoff weight TWR of 1.09 is probably accurate
I personally don't distrust the engine thrust figures or the weight
analog is cool
I also made it slimmer
Appropriate scale is wimpy little baby plane Nuh uh
Still bigger than the 45
as it should
Basically perfect
I'm against a full remodel but just a scaledown like this? Beautiful
The 24 is now gigantic
What’re we gonna do about that?!
Scale it to F-14D size
Isn't the EF-24 in an alright spot though?
It is a two seater as well, so it needs the space
EF24 has the same size as 26B
Doesn't make it bad though, it's a significantly newer and properly scaled model
If anything, it's size makes more sense that the F/A-26s
But It doesnt feel huge cockpit as 26b tho. thats a good thing
why man?
As it should be
nuh uh she isn’t fat
https://discord.com/channels/319915885575798785/1269997202424725537 i agree, the overall shape is mostly fine, besides a few details (like the canopy), the fact its the size of a bomber is the issue
That was not an insult
Yeah, I think the canopy could definitely use some tuning
Current 26B topology is unoptimized. I bet Remodeling would be much better, easier.
the curent model manages to make an F-15 look like a super hornet from certain angles, its great
Man I just really like the large 26, I think either don’t touch it or remodel to slim up nose and redo cockpit
I think I put my main reasons waaaay up in this chat
That’s just what I’d personally like the most
wdym by unoptimized topology ?
Import it in blender and check the mesh
thats a performance thing, not based on looks
we re talking looks here aren’t we ?
Baha also improved his 3d modeling by leaps. dont you guys want to sit in fresh new 26B?
sure, as long as its still a cool navalised F-15 with some super hornet inspiration
imho 42 is more urgent, that has serious aberrations in its design
@floral barn
#1272117343136256135 message
That can be done in remodeling.
Scaling down does not equate to "entirely remodeling" the aircraft
and things like the cockpit I would consider a separate thing, due to that being its own whole effort
Oh, right, I forgot
yeah this post is a mix of very different ideas
A complete remodel would break every livery for the 26
cockpit design
exterior design
scale
different things
People want the 26 to look better in general but disagree just about everything else
@solid relic sorgy, joe :c
As long as it gets a cockpit refresh, I'm happy
true
tbh it could be just a single seat F-15E with naval landing gear and id be very happy
but thats just because i like the eagle
The super hornet vibes are also cool
never been a fan of the 26’s nose
Oh yeah!
same
I disagree with people thinking the 26 needs a remodel
it really doesn't
maybe a downsize but that's it
It could use an upgrade imo
Buttons are big, and compared to the 24 for example, the interior ain't great
that’s the cockpit
oh, yea
Slim down the canopy a little bit too and we have a winner
That’s normal, the f14 irl was huge
24 is close enough to the f14 for that excuse to work
the ef-24 in game is actually a bit bigger than the f-14
The 24 is about 10% larger than the 14
dimension or volume ?
maybe it would be appropriate to scale that down then
I think an optional low tech / mid tech cockpit like the F-16 mod would be sick
cant believe no one thought of this earlier, as least from what I saw
that is so fucking smart
ability to toggle it, I mean seriously, how'd no one think of that earlier
everyone wins!
I suppose whoever modeled the cockpit of the F-16 mod thought of it, but the F-4 mod did it first*?
oh really, good to know, I haven't played that mod yet
I'll get around to it in 4 years when I get just a little bored of the F16 😜
Well I would say don't bother as it sucks, but you do you
I probably wont
those jank aircraft really are jank, the ASF ones are pretty decent though, same with the SU27 and the KF21, those are fun in free flight
the feature in the viper is a lil jank since it breaks soi-related stuff
nah lol
still sick af
The dude who modeled it intended for it to just have a third mfd but I was initially devving with the steam gauges so I can still turn on my radar and stuff before the center mfd and new switches were fully implemented
i know it wont happen, but itd be sick if the f16 made it into the official game, i am not too affected by this since i will probably only play modded with the f16 now.
then when I was messing with the new sidestick and figured out how the object toggler worked I just slapped another one in real quick but for the mfd
but tbh using that object toggler for a 26 cockpit downgrade wouldn't really make sense imo
and is a potential pathway for a decent amount of bugs lol
does the f-16 mod only have sidestick ? muh clone correct
there's a center stick option
No you can select center
you're too slow on the sticks toast
you should make it automatically eject you from the aircraft if you switch to centerstick
lies
clearly AI generated
gaslighting intensifies
im a big centerstick user, sidestick IRL works because its pressure not movement, tech our controllers don’t have.
Side stick in vtol works bc its rotation not movement
I cant pull back for shit with side stick
Rotate your hand back
Don’t actually move it back
my wrist can’t do that much, like biomechanicaly, i don’t have that freedom of motion enough for side stick to work for me.
as sacrilegious as viper center stick is, its a matter of accessibility for me
Skill issue, commit to carpal tunnel
thats what I do
Increase stick sensitivity
my wrist will not let me bend my hand enough
I can’t pull back for shit on the 24G on anything below 1.4 sens
Sometimes when i get ready to pull hard, i let go of the stick, rotate my hand forward (as if pulling negative gs) and then grab the stick. Not as comfortable when not pulling, but allows for more control when pulling and allows for more pulling
#1312489511141507123 message I don't have any plans to do a major rework of the F/A-26
Yeah well
Bubble option
Would please the Viperoids
Low tech cockpit option (F-15C-esque)
Different belly pylons
Small changes he could make to please the 242 people who would like to see the 26 get some love
(Me) I am the 26B’s most honest and passionate defender
just slim down the canopy
When in a plane: MFD home - options (I think) - stick mode (I think)
makes you have a realistic style stick
in the centrd
it's hard to explain with sounding really baf
so just try it
i know about center stick lol, thx
Never forgor 11/30 ultimate ability suggestions rejected
Well, the post is still open
He rejected the remodel?
#1312489511141507123 message
nah the 26 is fine imo
Always has been
He said major rework. But what about minor rework?
That's what I'm saying
that's just cause the nose is so fucking wide
which kind of cues into making this LARGE boi smaller
I'm working on that
Just narrowing it side to side. Keeping the vertical and length the same
Notice how the side sillhouette doesn't change a whole lot. The top is only a bit narrower, and the front only looks smushed from the original
Silent Eagle vibes
👆 This is what we call peak
the canopy is still way narrower than the nose, look at the hornet above you don’t have the same proportions at all
That's just an issue with the 26's design
I tried making the canopy wider, but it looked worse
yeah its got a raptor look
you tried having the "root" of the canopy angled outwards
like more bubble i guess
Eugh, I can't stand the super bubbly canopies like that. They look like tumors
it’s what the 4th gens all have 🤷♂️
idk. I think I'm done modeling again for a bit. Not seeing anything come of it is depressing
fair enough lol
i’m still mostly hoping for all those smaller updates
like TADS-FCR auto slave on the 94 as an example
So far 1.12 looks promising
yeah, we’ll see what more he can add
F-16 is still the best addition since weather
Unofficial addition
…
Is there any confirmed additions?
The replay system
Oh hell yeah
Just making it less wide looks significantly better
Well, I appreciate the feedback and positivity
my biggest issue with the 26 is its cockpit since thats what you use the most
It feels ridiculously big compared to all the other aircraft
Its the same with almost everyone. I 99% of time like to play with t55
Sad part is, nothing I can do about that except suggesting it look more like an F-15C or 18C than the 16C-esque design we have; or scale everything down 30%
As I don't have the full model, just the external livery reference
Im fine with the design just compact it a bit more and i was hopeful baha would atleast do that eventually but they turned down a 26 rework
Now we can only hope baha to slim and downscale the aircraft.
From what it seems, it's never going to happen
it seem so too
He explictly stated a major rework is not in the cards.
As for a new aircraft which could take some of the stylistic designs and aspects of the newer made ones (55, 24, 94) maybe we could see something smaller and more compact while still being fun to fly and close to what the 26 should "feel" like
I wouldnt get my hopes up for anything like that
Baha has the requirement of new gameplay/features in each DLC aircraft so i dont see anything fitting the role of the 26 just better
Every time ive tried to think of something the easy response is just to use the 26 since it already does everything
It does everything, but not well
except carry capacity
mf can carry like 35 bombs
A lighter, more nimble multirole with the 26's base design would be neat, with limited ability to carry things like HARMs and Mavericks, ala F/A-18C or F-20 even. Take the 26, remove the outer wing pylons, limit the missile capacity to 10-12, maybe give it MERs to supplement lower pylon count, but at that point, just fly the F-16C mod I guess
I understand that Baha has a vision, but so do I. I just wish I were talented enough, had enough time and money to put my ideas out there
looks like it has a massive chin from the front angle😅
I don't think an only canopy remodel works tbh
you'd need to alter the nose and possibly the lifting body too
That much is obvious, but I've moved on
Baha has no plans to remodel the 26
I'm 100% certain he has a good reason besides "I don't wanna"
Yes.
Center stick f-16 is not real.
yes it is
you just move the stick to the center
and put a little thing to make it attached to the floor
Center is godly for hapticless vr
how many tris
oh not bad
