I'm not entirely sure how entirely effective this would be, but adding unguided rockets to the EF-24 would be pretty interesting. Sure the F-14 carried it and in all honesty I just want to have that option because the F-14 had it, but having unguided rockets would be fun to use because it gives the EF-24 another option to destroy targets when being GPS jammed

just a bit of CAS weapons would be great

#

beyond gbu-12s

#

still not rifles, just something to help a bit

Maybe something along the lines of an AGM-130?

#

a rocket propelled, guided bomb with a possibly steerable seeker on its terminal phase?

#

This could be pretty neat

#

As for the other point about Hydras, I think I'll stick with saying no, since Baha himself has stated that he would not be adding those

I think adding TV guided bombs would be interesting for the WSO/EWO to control

#

what about an updated AIM-7; such as the AIM-7P block II or AIM-7R.

That’s kinda how the one we have is already. It can reaqcuire from radar source of launching aircraft

#

I’m a huge sparrow defender, I honestly wish we got a more modern texture for the one in-game as well as renaming it

they only accept corrections from datalink if locked on to target

#

even on the ef-24

#

i feel like hydras would be fine, they're very bad

#

they used to be insanely good

why?

#

oh

#

right

#

i still feel that way though

#

im not gonna push it at all

fossil spire
#

I feel that it just wouldn't make sense

#

it's not really a CAS focused aircraft

slender cliff
#

true

#

The EF24 isn't really a frontline either, it's more of a backline

#

it's a support aircraft with how it does EW

#

(though we do use it as a frontline CAP aircraft in CAW mainly because it has such a busted radar and because of its speed)

frankly i feel lucky it has bombs at all, aha could have just taken inspiration from air to air tomcat and EA-18G
off course the real tomcats did eventually get bombs but i hope i’m clear

#

could have just been AAMs and HARM

#

and gun

# main fiber they only accept corrections from datalink if locked on to target

I believe this is the correct behavior, command datalinks in missiles (outside of something like the 120D) use radar encoding anyways so im pretty confident a stt needs to be maintained on the target, additionally the actual benefits of the datalink are in situations where the sarh seeker cannot see the illuminated target. This cannot happen in vtol as the missile seeker will always see the target if its in its fov

F14 did carry rockets, the ZUNI's to be specific

#

On the frontcenter 2 pylons and the lower wint pylons

#

Aka 3 under the fuselage, 2 under each wing

clever coyote
#

they were definitely tested but as far as I’ve seen they were never operationally used

#

but the ef24 isn’t the f14, just modeled after it. so really, baha could give the ef24 a giant railcannon, ace combat-style, if he wanted

#

no the 'cat got service rockets, they were used in Desert Storm

clever coyote
#

Zuni rockets were first mounted and used by cpt dale snodgrass and cdr john snedeker of VF-14 were the first to carry it (at an unknown time)

The first combat application was in 1995, 4 years after desert storm ended

info taken from the “naval aviation news” jan-feb 1995 issue

#

And snodgrass (certified badass, designated as the real life maverick with more flight hours and carrier traps than any other pilot) was the CO of VF-33 during desert storm

based on the very much multirole F/A-18F but only has HARM variants and AIM-120 (and AIM-9X as of recent)

#

the 24 could have been similar

#

thankfully not

#

i mean i’m sure it would be quite easy for them to add, the pylons are there, and the avionics too probably

#

but i don’t think so, worth checking

hexed oak
#

feels weird for them not being able to, even as a back-up in the fleet (i.e. when no(t enough) F/A-18's are available)

AGM-154 JSOW is the only other i could find

#

you don’t want people tasking growlers to strike missions

#

because the crews aren’t well trained for it

#

and the airframes are limited and highly valuable

#

you want to make sure the growler pilots stay safe and support the strikers. with HARM and jamming

#

the AIM-120 is for self defense only

#

same reason you don’t give amraam to the B-1, even tho it has an air to air radar
