(Pls just ignore the MiG-29 cockpit, I dont want redfor fighters I want the colors) I'm not too sure how hard this would be but I feel like it could be cool to also change the color of the cockpit? Mostly asking because I think the soviet style blue cockpits look really cool and id like to make a skin that allows me to see that inside of the cockpit too
#Allow the user liveries to also edit the texture of the cockpit?

Using the soviet blue as an example, other colors could work too, like darker cockpits or ligher cockpits
Could also allow for wheatering inside of the cockpit
I dont know how wanted this is but I feel like it could make the cockpits feel more lively? More personal
Possible problems I see with this
-Not enough demand to warrant the scope of the change
-Not all cockpit elements, MFD buttons, Throttle, Stick, and others aren't on the same Texture making the editing difficult
.
Possible pros I could see
-More customization
-Different language cockpits (Could be big for non native English speakers)
Some of the things that fall under that would be
-Weathering effects, worn buttons, scratched metal
-Roleplaying as a redfor plane (cockpit blue or smth)
-Allowing the use of informational stickers/Cheat sheets?
Such as having the RWR symbols "explained" somewhere inside of the cockpit
Like a kneeboard except for not a kneeboard
Really quick gimp edit of what I meant
And heres what the cockpit could look like
Very shitty gimp edit but you get the rough idea
Feedback or further ideas are very highly appreciated
😎 👍
On some aircraft this already happens lol
make the cockpit files/liveries separated from external liveries
Liveries channel told me this was not possible?
its not meant to be possible. some of the UVs are fucked up and cause some outside color to bleed into the inside. happens most notably with the AV42 and AH94
bump, but also glad to see my RWR reference sheet in the wild lol
still gotta make an updated version ugh
That'd actually be really cool too yeah
Sounds great, although with different languages while more accessible, almost all real life pilots must know english, but yeah, it’s a game who cares lol
and almost all ingame comms are english
i know this is dated but all the empty spots in the cockpits could have uses :(

#vtol_localization message VT text only supports A-Z, 0-9
Different language cockpits are difficult to implement because VT text is not one texture per label but a set of textures per letter.
#vtol_localization message I had to write a shader that could be lit by dynamic lights and have a switchable emission for the cockpit labels. It gets the letters/digits from a texture. It would be incredibly difficult for me to support Asian languages/special characters with that so I set the standard to keep cockpit labels as is
I was not aware that the labels functioned in that way. Good to know but I suppose that would kind of make different languages impossible
It is not impossible. However, it would require an overhaul of the VT text system to convert each cockpit label from text to texture during loading to support non-Latin labels.
Our Chinese fighter jets use Chinese cockpits.

Korean fighters use English cockpits though. #vtol_localization message
Makes sense cause NATO
